All of the "Office" document editing applications on the iPad have limitations.  Best try them out to see if they meet your needs.

You need a Firewire cable to run between the two Macs.  Using Utility>Migration Assistant running on your new MacBook Pro, transfer what you want (with all the preferences and such) from your MacBook to your MBP.  Here's more info from Apple.
You might have an issue with the Serial number for Office, but hopefully you have that around.
    Hope this helps.

I Have office for mac home and business 2011, can you install on both users on one iMac?

That's often a permissions problem. Try launching Disk Utility and running the Repair Permissions. That may fix the problem. Also confirm that the Office 2011 folder is in the Applications folder at the root of the hard drive, not a folder within your wife's Home folder.
If that doesn't help. post back with further details; your version of Mac OS X, whether you installed Office via a user account with admin privileges or not, and what happens when you try and launch Office from your account including error messages if any.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have Office for Mac 2011 on my Mac desktop.  Is there a way to transfer it to my new MBA via my network?

I have Office for Mac 2011 on my Mac desktop.  Is there a way to transfer it to my new MBA via my network?  If not is there any way to load Office into my MBA short of buying an external DVD player?

I recently purchased a MacBook Air and set up the machine using Setup Assistant cloning it from my iMac via wifi. Whilst it took a very long time, eventually it worked.
The set up option included all programmes. When I opened up MS Word on the Air, I was asked to enter my original product key. Once I had done this all other MS Office programmes worked fine.
I believe the license allows you to install and run on a desktop and a laptop but not be using them at the same time.
    Hope this helps

  • You can't open the application "MFI_Simulator.exe" because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X. Can someone assist. I have Office for Mac 2011 on MacBook Pro 13''.

You can’t open the application “MFI_Simulator.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X. Can someone assist. I have Office 2011 on my MacBook Pro, OS X, 10.9.1.

Your Office 2011, though a Microsoft product, is designed to work with OSX the Mac operating system.  Any program/application ending .exe is an executable program for Windows.  It will only work in Windows and is not part of or openable with Microsoft Office.
the application you want to open needs Windows - you have a couple of alternatives:
Open it on a Windows PC
Install a valid version of Windows via Bootcamp (or Parallels or VM Fusion) which will allow you to boot your Mac into Windows where it will function like a Windows PC and you can use it to run the application.
See if the manufacturers of MFI_Simulator have a Mac version available.
Please note that if you follow the second option, then you will need to purchase a copy of Windows (if you do not have one already). BootCamp is free (part of OSX) but Parallels and VM Fusion cost too.  I see quite a few posts from people who buy Parallels and try to run the program under Parallels - this doesn't work - you need to install Windows as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT4759 Can I place documents created with Microsoft Office for Mac, eg. WORD, or .pdf files be stored in iCloud?  If so, how can I put them there?

    Hi,
I am trying to learn how to use iCloud, would like to hsve it my documents on it, which are mostly created in WORD (part of Microsoft Office Suite for Mac) or .pdf files.  I don'r see how to get them into iCloud.  Actually I don't see how to place anything at all in iCloud other than contacts, etc.  I am not seeing how it can be usedul to me.

I should have been more clear. You have to buy the iWork programs from Apple. They are available in the App Store.
    Pages: http://www.apple.com/iwork/pages/
    Numbers: http://www.apple.com/iwork/numbers/
    $20 each.
The iWork programs are integrated with iCloud and work fairly automatically with it. iCloud is only intended for specific purposes and is not intended for general purpose storage.
Dropbox is though, and it's free.

  • Office for Mac X compatibility with Lion

    Hi guys,
My company is equipped with Office for Mac X (came out in 2002, fairly obsolete I know), and we're trying to know whether we'll be able to use the software on the new OS Lion (until now, we've been able to use it no matter what new OS we have been using)
    Any clues?
    Thanks

Ask Mircosoft seeing as how they are the ones that produce it?
IMHO the chances are probably slim at best.
I always love companies that are so cheap as to not upgrade their software until forced to do it. Then they whine and moan about the expense and difficulty to do it a decade ot so to late.

  • Office for Mac

I recently bought my First Mac, I bought it together with office for mac, now that I have installed office on my mac can a friend use the same disc to install on their mac?

now that I have installed office on my mac can a friend use the same disc to install on their mac?
No, that's called stealing. If your friend wants office, they need to purchase a license for their own copy.

  • Windows office for mac

    Hi
I am considering buying MacBook Air and want to install windows office for mac.
Do I have to buy an external cd drive to do this ?
    Thanks

When you say, "windows office for mac", its a contradicion in terms that makes a clear answer a litle more complicated. Either you are wanting to buy Microsoft office for Windows, or Microsoft Office for Mac.
For the Mac, you would use "Microsoft Office for Mac", unless you intend to install Windows on that Mac, and run it using Bootcamp or a virtual machine product like Parallels or Fusion.
To your question of installing the software. Yes, you can buy an external DVD drive, but it is not necessary. Here are your other options.
    1. Use Remote Disc, the means by which a Mac can use the DVD drive of another computer attached over a network.
    2. Using another computer, copy the DVD disc that comes with the software to a USB flash drive, and then use the flash drive to install MS Office for Mac.
    3. Download the "trial" version of MS Office for Mac, from the MS Office for mac website (instructions are usually included with your disc). Then use the activtion code that came(comes) with your install disc to activate the trial to be the full installed version. You see the "trial" is no different than the "full version", except the license is simply not activated for unrestricted use.

  • Cannot close "Help" in Office for Mac

I have Office for Mac 2004 and I have this problem whenever I try to use "Help". Once help is open, I can continue to navigate and edit the document and can find all the help topics easily enough. I cannot, however, seem to find a way to quit help when I am finished without closing the application altogether. The help window is anchored to the menu bar without any links or buttons to allow me to close the window. I've tried Command + Q, but that just asks if I want to quit the entire application. Any ideas on what is wrong and what I can do to fix it?

I do wish someone would answer this because it's been bugging me since I got my computer and installed Office 2004. Oddly, my wife and daughter, on their respective computers, running Office 2004, don't have the same problem; their help window behaves like any other window, with the command bar at the top with the little red dot to close the window etc.

  • Retina display - blurry office for mac 2011 and web pages?

    Hi everyone,
I was planning on making a trip to my uni tomorrow to make the purchase of the macbook pro 13 inch 8GB RAM and 256 GB SSD (for student discount) but while doing some final research I came across several disadvantages of the RD.
For the next 3 months, the macbook will be used for report/thesis writing which means ill be using office for mac 2011 and adobe reader heavily as well as the internet. I have read many articles saying office for mac 2011 even after applying the update is still blurry and grainy as are the majority of web pages and this has put me off buying and made me think id be better off with the non retina display model, meaning I'd save £200 too.
Can anyone offer any advice on this and confirm whether or not this is true, and whether you would recommend going ahead with the purchase? A screenshot of office for mac 2011 on a retina display would be perfect
    Thanks!

I agree with BobTheFisterman.  I have Pages 5, Pages '09 and Office for Mac 2011.  I really like the Pages programs - each of the versions in their own way - but I don't like using Word on Office for Mac.  It's not the same as Office 10 when used on a Windows machine.  Not close at all in fact.  I use it because I have it, and emailing documents between my Mac and work where we use Windows makes it easy.  "Easy" is not the same as liking the software though.
The point of this, is that I would not recommend buying it.  I've heard that Open Office and Libre Office are very credible alternatives, and work very much like Word on Windows.  Both are free and get very good reviews.  I've not used either so can't speak from personal experience, but what I would say after buying Office for Mac is that I wish I had tried the free alternatives first.
The other alternative to consider of course of Google Drive.  I use that for non-confidential documents, but I wouldn't trust it for storage of any confidential work related stuff.

  • Sequential numbering using Office for Mac

I have Office for MAC.  Is there an easy way to create raffle tickets with sequential numbers?

First, uninstall the software responsible for installing these extensions:
    com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver          1.0.0
    com.squirrels.driver.AirParrotSpeakers          1.8
    com.rim.driver.BlackBerryUSBDriverInt          0.0.68
If removing the software and extensions doesn't solve the problem, then you are probably correct about the GPU:
The problem is likely due to the discreet GPU failing. Download gfxCardStatus 2.3 and use it to disable the GPU. This is a temporary workaround until you get your motherboard replaced.
