I have OS X 10.4.11 and I just got home with my new ipod nano and I need to update my OS! How do I do this?
I have OS X 10.4.11 and I just got home with my new ipod nano 6th generation and I have after searching threads etc discovered I need to update my OS! How do I do this - all of the posts on this subject are a bit out of date I think? I have a mac book pro 2.2 so I know I can run Leopard, I just have no idea how to get it...? Please help!
Check your Mac against hardware specs to find out what version of OS X you can upgrade to.
Then buy DVD for that version.

just got home with my new ipad and its asking for a passcode to let me in - haven't set one up, wasn't told about this in store, any ideas please???? Have tried my apple password & my passcode i use with my i-phone but none works.
Was this a used iPad? Try going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will completely restore the iPad to brand new. It will erase all content, but since the iPad is brand new and you haven't made any changes to it, there is no content that will be erased. Except the passcode, of course

I have purchased a new iPod Nano and have tried repeatedly to set it up but iTunes will not recognise it. I have 5 other devices connected to my itunes account so is this the problem and what can I do?
There is no 5 device limit. There is a 5 computer limit.

Bought a new ipod nano and the computer won't recognize it
I just purchased a new ipod nano and have my itunes on Windows 8. I've connected it with the supplied cable to USB 2 and 3 and every time I receive a message a new ipod has been connected but it is not recognized by itunes.
How can I make this ipod work so I can set it up and start using it?Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

New IPOD nano and getting HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\software\Classes\quicktime
I tried to install the software for my new iPod Nano and it would nto load for this message:
could not open key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuickTime,QuickTime\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. I've tried shutting off the firewall and made APPLE a trusted site. I even removed the old Quicktime from my computer and this did not work. Please help this not very tech savvy old lady.I had a similar error:
Could not open key:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuickTimePlayerLib
.QuickTimePlayerApp\CLSID. Verify that you have
sufficient access to that key, or contact your
support personel.
Apple help told me it was a Windows problem and that
I needed the Service Pack 2 (SP2). I already had that
update, so that alone was not the problem. In surfing
the net, I found an answer for my error that worked
on bleepingcomputer.com from HitSquad. Here it is, it
may work for you too:
Click Start>Run and type "regedit" (without the
quotes)in the Run dialog box and click OK. This will
open the Windows Registry Editor. In the left side of
the window, navigate to the path in the error
message. HKEYLOCALMACHINE is the top folder,
Software is the next folder, etc., etc. Right click
on the Quicktime.qt folder and select
"Permissions...". In the Security tab, it should list
Group or user names you have. Select a user name and
in the lower part of the window, make sure "Full
Control" and "Read" have check marks under "Allow".
Click "Apply". Now log back on under the username
listed in the upper part of the window.
Mine had a strange twist, even though I am an
Adminstrator on my computer, for some reason, my user
name was not listed. My son's user name was - maybe
because he loaded the itunes initially? I changed his
account to administrator and loaded itunes and
QuickTime under his name and the error went away.
Anyway, itunes 7 is now working. I'm no expert, but
this worked for me. Good Luck!
JB
This was a fix for me. I have to use my wifes log in to windows. I think she might have loaded the itunes a while ago under her log in. Good Luck everyone. At least now I can use my 80 gig ipod for something else than a paper weight. I must say though, Microsoft would have had a fix by now for this.
Good night and good luck,

This all started when I bought my wife a new Ipod Nano and when I plugged it in the computer told me that I had to update to Itunes 10.4. I went to update and after it downloads I go to open and install it, it says that I have to update to OS X 10.6. So I update to OS X 10.6 and it tells me to update to OS X 10.5. I search for OS X 10.5 and everything is OS X 10.5.1 or later. Any help?
Hi Darren,
So you purchased (not a disc from a different Mac) OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and installed it, yes? If so, 10.5 and 10.4 are completely out of the picture, unless you have some older software which requires something in 10.4 or 10.5 (but you make no mention of that).
So, with 10.6 installed, go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > select your HD and run Repair Permissions. Allow it to finish > quit DU > go to Apple menu > Software Update > and run all the updates there. Repair Permissions again.
Post back with any issues. -
I bought a new Ipod Nano and purchased songs on Itunes. How do I download the songs from the computer to my new ipod
Connect the iPod to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side you can use the Music tab to select which of your music that you want on the iPod.

just bought a brand new ipod nano and downloaded an audiobook borrowed from the local library. The book is there and playing but, I cannot hear anything. What am I doing wrong?
Does the same file play normally in iTunes? Do other audiobooks play normally on the iPod?
How does "borrowing" work? Does it require use of another app, other than iTunes, to get it on the iPod? -
I bought an iphone 5 c off craiglist and when I got home I factory reset the iphone and now it ask for an Apple ID of the previous owner but the previous owner won't give it to me
Find My iPhone Activation Lock- Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
Only the former owner can remove the Find My Phone lock and erase the device. That can be done remotely. Without this the device is useless to you because it will be permanently locked. -

I have a new ipod nano but at the moment I am unable to download music through itunes. I'm so disappointed. I have created an Apple ID, reviewed and inputted all of my data for my account and still get told to 'review account' because my ID has not 'been used with Itunes before. Why is this happening and why don't apple have a more intuative way of dealing with this.
Please help, I am completely frustrated. You'll either have to redeem an iTunes gift card, or create a new ID by following the directions here:

I have a new ipod nano - im trying to find my old iTunes music as I had an iPod touch about 8 months ago and cannot find my iTunes music and it is not on my current computer that was connected to old iPod touch
Your music will only be where you put it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Everything should be there. -
I want to put all of my real old songs in my PC library onto my new IPOD Nano 7th generation. How do I do this?
Import them into an iTunes library if needed, and then sync the iPod with that library.
