Sounds like something is shorting out inside your machine or electricity is coming up through your ground wire.
Do you have a proper ground in your location? Don't open or touch anything with a live current insdie, it can kill you
The ground is that third plug in the socket, there should be a wire attached to that, perhaps green, that follows to the electrical panel and from the electrical panel to a thick cable that goes outside to a rod driven deep into the ground or attached to metal sewer plumbing (although I think this isn't legal anymore)
Some people plug their three prong computer power bricks into two pronged (no ground) extension cords, this is very improper and offers no safety protection.
Sometimes if you have a electrical problem elsewhere in the location, electricity flows back up the ground wire and you feel a slight pain when using your machine with a metal case. This also could be a improperly grounded system. There are ground fault interupters for this you can buy, doesn't let electricty flow backwards, audio people use them to prevent noise coming into their equipment.
The current level the MacBook Pro's use is very low DC current, you shouldn't be feeling anything but it's possible.
Have your electrical system checked out by a electrician, also take the MacBook Pro to a more newer location with power and see if it continues.
If it occurs while on battery, no power attached, then it looks like a MacBook Pro specific issue. Perhaps your battery is swelling.

Hot is normal for the charger but very hot is not. If it were mine It could be that your MBP is drawing too much current. I would take it to the Apple Store and have it checked out.

I cant get my iphone 5 to be compatible with my mac book pro. When I plug the iphone 5 in it tells me that i need a newer version of itunes 10.7 and I currently have 10.6. I checked for updates in my itunes and it says i dont have any. So i have gone to the itunes website to try and redownload itunes which i believe it 11.7. When I try and download that version it tells me the software on my computer doesn't suppor that version. I try to update my software and it says there is not software updates available right now. Is there anyway I can get my iphone 5 to synce to my itunes?
In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater. -

Hi, the last install dvd that came out for mac's was Snow Leopard,10.6.3. Lion is a download from apple. You cannot just install it over Yosemite. You would have to backup your drive to save files you want and do a clean install. You might want to look into getting more memory. Entourage is a third party app so stop down to the Microsoft support forums. In any case I would suspect in its preferences there would be a selection as to when (parameters) incoming mail should be deleted from the server.

I purchased a HDMI cable to watch movies and slide shows from my mac book pro to my Sony Bravia TV. I get picture through the TV but no sound. What am I doing wrong?
Go to sounds in system pref and select outputs. When the hdmi cable is plug into the tv it will show as an option under output. Just select that option.

Rosetta is not included in 10.7.
If this is the case, you may need to partition your hard drive, install Windows on it, and use that partition for your work. -
My 3G unlocked iPhone is not syncing mail or contacts from my mac book pro, using Lion. I am able to get a calendars and music, only. I get the message that I need to reset the password which I have done 3x's on the phone and on the Apple server.
Good to know that, but what can I do to get the mail and contacts downloaded from Icloud onto my Iphone? I am told that the password needs to be reset and I have erased and reset it 3x's already? Should I Restore All Settings or Restore Network Settings or will that result in a situation where I have to have it re-unlocked again? GRACIAS!

This is not necessarily 100% correct at the current time.
As Dropbox is encouraging people to set it up for automatic uploading of photos they gradually increment your space as you load more pictures for free at the current time.
You do start with a fixed 2 GB but if you upload photos you will be awarded more free space.
You can also open a free account with Flickr - you may have some upload limits per day but you can upload pictures there. -

What to Do with the Electric Shocks Coming from my Mac Book Pro?
Hello there,
I have these tiny electric shocks each time my forarms come into contact around the plastic frame around the keyboard side of the notebook.
Sometimes the elecric shocks are not there. But they appear regardless of whether I'm using the grounded cable or not; regardless of which prephirals connected to the notebook; and in multiple buildings.
When I went to the reseller the electric shocks where not there.
Does Apple know about such a problem? isn't there a policy around this specific problem? I saw that other users reported the same issue on an external website.
I still have my product in its one year warranty.
Any clue?

I can't get past the password grey screen on my new Mac Book Pro.
I have a new Mac Book Pro. I transferred info from my old computer, and when I went to log into the new one, it took me as far as the password screen, and I can get no farther. I click on my name, put in my password, and it jiggles...as if it is wrong. News to me - as I used the same password that I have used for years on my computer.
I get a message that says, "If you forgot your password, you can reset it using your Apple ID." There is a little arrow there, but when you press it, the message disappears, and nothing happens.
There is a guest profile set up, that apparently has a mystery password in it as well.... I am locked out of my new computer. Very frustrated!!!Lanch Font Book located in HD > Applications

before installing osx mavericks, do i have to create a back up of all the stuff that i have on my mac book pro or can i just click install and everything stays without getting deleted.
Never Ever do anything with an operating System without backing up first.
While it is usual for a new OS to install with no loss of data, the time you do it without first backing up will most likely be the time that you wish you had backed up.
In all of the updates and upgrades Apple distributes there is a recommendation to backup your data before installing.
The easiest option is to get an external hdd if you do not already have one, plug it into the mac and follow the prompts to use the drive for Time Machine. Note that any data existing on the external hdd will be erased so use a new one or one that you are confident is ok to erase without a disaster ensuing.
Also ensure that System Preferences -> Energy Saver has been set so the Computer Sleep is Never so that the backup will not be interrupted if this is the first backup or it is a long time since the last backup was done.
