I'm really worried

I had tried to put more music than can fit on my iPod, on my iTunes, and a window popped up that said that it was going to make a new folder of my selected songs. I was downloading some music at the time, and I put it on my iPod, and accidentally erased the selected songs folder. I tried to sync the songs in my music folder, but it says, "Songs on the iPod "_____" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
I don't know what to do. Can you help me?

Choose New Playlist from the File menu in iTunes, and use the instructions in this article to add that playlist to the playlists set to be synchronized to the iPod, or change the iPod's synchronization mode.

    Don't worry, this is probably just Verbose Mode. It's perfectly harmless.  If you're not specifically invoking it, than it's probably down to an unwanted setting in NVRAM.  See this article on resetting NVRAM if it continues to bother you.

    Why did you delete the hard drive?   If you delete the contents of the Macintosh HD you have no system to boot into.  That's what the flashing folder/? means.  What system were you using before deleting everyting.
    You're going to have to install a system on the HD before you can boot.

  • I'm really worried about the security of my information. I have just turned on and tried to set up my new Iphone5. It keeps asking for my ex partners login details? She has never had access to my account??

    I really dont understand how this works ....? Is this not a helpline??

    No, this is community forums.
    Did you and your ex ever share an iCloud account or Apple ID?
    When is it asking for the info?
    Did you plug your phone into your computer to sync with iTunes? If so, it's nothing to worry about probably, it's probably trying to grab and app or something from your iTunes library from her account.

  • Really worried about Ipod

    Hey all, im worried about my ipod mini. I am getting a laptop within the next few days and am wanting to move my itunes stuff and ipod over to the laptop from the "family desktop".
    In doing so, when i plug my ipod into the usb (via firewire cable), will it automatically re-format my ipod? Am i stuck with using my mini only on the desktop? Im just scared that i will lose my whole ipod library because the majority of it isn't backed up. If anyone could help me out with this, i would really appreciate the help. Thank you in advance.

    - I suspect that he went to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings.  For 1G or 2G iPod that can take hours and it will likely stall out if not connected to a charging source.
    Try the following:
    - A reset.
    Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - The connect to computer and try to restore via iTunes.
    - Id something is still showing onthe screen, disconnect from computer/charging source and let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour, Try the reset and restore.
    - If you can turn the iPod off, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovey mode:

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Bad files, photos not loading right, crashing...really worried.

    Gosh lightroom and me are just not getting along lately. First my catalog destroys itself and then the following day lightroom on my husbands computer starts getting all wonky.
    First, it wasn't displaying the edits in the little film strip thing at the bottom in develop like it usually does. I would have to click on the picture, it would show up raw and then load into all the settings we have done. Typically, once we edit a photo it just is that way from then on.
    Then my husband gets back on his computer and works a little and all the sudden a bunch of files are having errors and none of the standard previews are loaded anymore. That is odd since we know FOR SURE we have loaded those and then did 1:1 previews on all the flagged photos we are working with.
    Then after them being damaged it went back to most of them working. Freaking out...again...we just exported all the work we have done so far (about 95% of the wedding) so we wouldn't lose another wedding after the preview catalog crash. Now I am really uncertain as to what we should do...He shut down lightroom and we have not opened it back up again in fear we will screw something up. I thought I would do some research and write something here first since calling Adobe is useless after spending 2 hours on the phone only to not speak to anyone and be hung up on last time when my catalog crashed.
    Lightroom is our life. We spend all day on it, do all our weddings in it...It is our workflow and our style. I can't do what I do in lightroom in photoshop since I have developed our style within lightroom. We have 8 weddings to edit and can't just stop working...
    I guess i'm freaking out. Should we just export all our presets and delete lightroom and reinstall it? Do you think we have a bug? We work on macs so I would think a bug is much less likely than a windows computer? Could our version be bad? We are running on 2.4 I believe which is the most current? Should we go back to the previous version? We have not had ANY problems with lightroom until now and its like everything is going way crazy in the past 2 days so I guess i'm a little overwhelmed.
    I'm honestly afraid to keep working in fear that all will be lost again. Someone told me about some XML thing that will for sure keep all our edits if something should go wrong. Is there a step by step of what that exactly means and how to make that happen?  I am much more of a creative artist than a programmer so I am a little slow on how a lot of things work on the back end.
    Thanks so much for your help to anyone who replies. I just joined this forum a couple days ago and It is amazing how fast people do respond to things so I really appreciate it.

    Holly,
    a bunch of files are having errors
    When you say "errors", what do you mean exactly? Do you get an error message, or is it just that the previews aren't showing up?
    did 1:1 previews
    By default, LR will delete 1:1 previews that are older than 30 days to free up disk space. Is that possibly what's going on?
    Someone told me about some XML thing that will for sure keep all our edits if something should go wrong.
    LR never alters the original image - all of its changes are stored separately as instructions (e.g. "Add 0.5 Exposure").
    So when you see an image in LR, it gets the original image, applies every change you've ever made, and displays the result. The catalog (LR's database) keeps track of every single change you've ever made, and this is what you see in the History panel.
    Optionally, you can instruct LR to save image data in what's called a "sidecar" file. This sidecar file is in Adobe's XMP format, which is based on XML. It will have the same name as your original RAW file but with a ".xmp" extension.
    You can see this in action by opening the folder containing your original raw images - you will see DSC_1234.NEF (for Nikon) and it's "sidecar" file DSC_1234.XMP. You can actually open the DSC_1234.XMP file (but DON'T modify it) and see the XML that LR has created.
    Another option is that if you are converting your RAW images to DNG, the same XMP data is written out, but it is actually stored inside the DNG file along side the RAW image instead of in a separate file.
    The thing to watch out for is that a) writing the data to XMP is optional - you have to make sure you've enabled it (I don't remember if it's on by default), and b) the XMP file doesn't contain everything that's in the LR catalog, so you shouldn't view it as a substitute for backing up your catalog.
    Also, while I know it's outside of the realm of your specific issue, it sounds like there are a few "workflow" tips that might help you out. If you already know this stuff, please feel free to disregard... much of this is personal preference and experience from having been burned in the past!:)
    Set LR to test the integrity and backup your catalog every day. It only takes an extra minute but can be worth its weight in gold if your catalog ever gets corrupted. The cool thing about LR's backup is that it each backup is written to a new file - as opposed to just overwriting the same backup copy every time. In other words, if you backed up on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, you would have 3 copies of the catalog: one from Mon, one from Tues, one from Wed. With normal backup procedures, you would just typically have the latest copy of the catalog - the problem being that if the catalog gets corrupted and you don't know about it, and back up that version, now you just have 2 copies of a corrupted catalog!
    When you import, make sure to check the box that says "Backup To". This will immediately ensure that a) right of the bat you have 2 copies of each image, and b) ensure that no matter what you do in LR you will never lose your original image.
    If you're really paranoid, after your import, shut down LR and back up your LR catalog, your RAW images, and your RAW images that were backed up as part of your import.
    Make sure you have "write to XMP" turned on, or alternatively convert your RAW images to DNG. Either way will ensure XMP data is stored with your images. If you don't use DNG, make sure you back up the ".xmp" files as well as your your RAW (.nef, .cr2) files.
    When you're done with your images, export every image to JPG. Back up the JPGs.
    Periodically back up any LR presets and plugins
    Peridocially burn your RAW images (either .CR2 + .XMP, or .DNG) and/or JPG to DVD, and store the DVD offsite (e.g. safe deposit box, friend's house). Alternatively, backup to an external hard drive and store off site.
    Back up your entire system every night (or week or month - based on how much work you feel comfortable losing )
    It might seem like a lot of extra steps, but much of it can be automated, and after a while it will just become part of your normal workflow. If you have to, keep a paper checklist next to your computer.
    If you do this, you will have:
    A daily backup of a known, good LR catalog.
    A copy of every RAW image as it came off your memory card.
    A copy of every RAW image and the latest edits.
    A JPG version of every edited RAW image with edits "baked in"
    A copy of your saved presets and plugins
    Everything above backed up to a secondary location
    Plus, a copy of RAW images and their latest edits and/or JPGs stored off site

  • 5th gen i-pod wont turn off URGENT please reply, REALLY WORRIED

    nothing weird happened to it, just went funny on me. will sync with computer (windows xp) however it sounds like theres some whirring noises inside it. it is playing music. I have spent a lot of time building a library through borrowing from other people and I would be devastated to lose all my music. please please help me through this SOMEONE. I am a complete dunce when it comes to computers so try to be patient.

    The latest versions of itunes have not been very stable, so I would not suggest playing music while loading into itunes. If you are not very computer literate, the best way to back up your music is to buy an external drive. They are not very expensive, less than $100 for let's say 150 gigs. I have 16,000 songs in my library and still have about 50 gigs left, so you will have plenty of room for expansion, in the future. Once you do this, all you need to do is connect the drive to your computer. Open up that drive into a half window (top right hand of screen,middle button of _ ()X . Then open the place where all of your music file are, normally the C drive, my computer, my music, and drag the entire content to your external drive. You now have a copy of all of your music. If you do not go this route, it means making a cd copy of all of your music, which you will have to re-load if you lose all of your file (as when a computer crashes). This involves doing everything again. If you have all of your files in an external drive, all you have to do is ask itunes to organize all of your music (in preferences), and the work is all done for you. Depending on which way you go, I am sure that once you do this, it you can ask, and someone will provide a step by step process, or you can ask me when you get to that point.

  • Finally. Someone PLEASE help me, really worried...

    I was driving home and shut off my MacBook. When I got home, I started it backup, but it's in a safemode type of thing like windows... the OS starts up and for a second looks normal then it changed to all those weird colors, and my menus arent even complete either! How do i fix this???

    It's best to have the LCD on its native resolution. LCD's don't look good downscaled like CRT (tube) monitors. Before buying any LCD, or Notebook computer, it is good to make sure you will be ok with the native resolution of the computer.
    The MacBook should be on its native resolution of 1280 x 800.
    See if you can select millions of colors from that resolution. Again, do you have an Apple Store nearby. They are super at showing you around the notebook. It may just be a display setting issue. Again, it's hard to tell without being present.
    Add: And yes, the screen would look worse with 256 colors and that would affect your display resolution. That is because you are not getting the full display of colors that OS X is displaying.

  • 00 00000 called me today, will they be able to hack me? im really worried

    No, they can't hack you... nobody can call your iPhone and hack it.   It was probably just a glitch in the number from the carrier.

  • Iphone 6 shows SEARCH IPHONE instead of SPOTLIGHT SEARCH when swipe down the middle of screen. really worried...i'm on ios 8.1 ???please help

    when i swipe down my home screen on iPhone 6 it says ''SEARCH iPhone'' instead it should say ''Spotlight Search'' don't know what's the issue. i'm on iOS 8.1 but this problem was there when i was on stock 8.0

    According to my device, if you have Spotlight Suggestions and Bing Web Results turned on in Settings>General>Spotlight Search, it will show "Spotlight Search". If you have them turned off, it will show "Search iPhone".
    If you have those two options turned on, try toggling them off and then back on again and see if that clears it up. If it doesn't, try resetting your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears. Once the Slide to Unlock screen displays, go to your Home screen and try the Spotlight search again.
    Cheers,
