Report Selection Formula Error with Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5
Hello,
My name is Carlos, and I would like to report a defect found in the Crystal Reports 2008 SP 3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime that is affecting the majority of our reports. As well, I would like to ask if there is a simple workaround that does not involve updating hundreds of reports.
The issue is that the runtime engine incorrectly returns the report selection formula. I have included sample code showing what I mean.
To reproduce;
1. Create a simple report that has a date range filter like:
({Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE})
AND ({Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE})
2. Create a test app as follow that loads a report using the following code:
ReportDocument rpt = null;
try
rpt = new ReportDocument();
rpt.Load("TestReport.rpt");
this.txtMessage.Text = string.Format(
"ReportSelectionFormula:{0}{1}",
Environment.NewLine,
rpt.RecordSelectionFormula);
catch (Exception ex)
this.txtMessage.Text = ex.ToString();
3. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006341772011E/cr2008fp35_redist.zip]..
4. Execute the app.
At this stage, the screen shows
ReportSelectionFormula:
( ( NOT {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE} ) AND ( NOT {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE} ) )
The expected value is:
ReportSelectionFormula:
( ( {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE} ) AND ( {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE} ) )
If we were to repeat the same test above but use the Crystal Reports 2003 SP3 runtime (i.e. no Fix Pack), which can be dowloaded from [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123592010E/cr2008sp3_redist.zip], we would get the correct report selection formula. A side-effect for this incorrect report selection formula is a runtime exception complaining about an errorkind and a boolean being expected.
Do you know if there is any workaround that I can apply in code, perhaps a different Fix Pack? Is there a Fix Pack expected to be released soon? It is not practical for us to update our reports and use a different style in the record selection formula because we have many such reports, and our customers probably have even more.
Thank you.
-Carlos.Already a known issue, here's the [KB 1584095 - A boolean NOT is added at the beginning of a record selection formula when the report is loaded by the Crystal Reports .NET SDK |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533383334333033393335%7D.do]

Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 - Fix Pack 2.1 Readme
Hi,
Where can I find a readme of the Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 - Fix Pack 2.1 with the list of fixed issues?
Specifically does this fix the issue of dates when using .NET datasets and ADO recordsets (ttx files)?
Regards
CraigIs this not considered a critical breaking change? I think 6+ months is a long time to wait especially given we had to wait for SP2 in the first place for other fixes. Now we find we cant go to SP2.
Is there anyway to get this esculated?
What if SP3 hs another breaking change?
Hopefully your will locate release notes, why is it that SAP dont appear to make these readily available for new serice packs and fix packs? We seem to go through this everytime?

Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 - Fix Pack 2.1
I see that Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 - Fix Pack 2.1 has been posted as of 10/26/09. Anybody know what's in it? I didn't see a Read Me. Also, when you download and start to install this, it reports itself as a a Fix Pack for Version 1, but the version on things like CRViewer.dll show a version of 12.2.1.412 and a build date of 2009/10/14, which leads me to believe it really is for SP2.
Moved to Legacy Development forum.
We typically release the merge modules at the same time but sometimes they are delayed getting to our download site.
Go to: SAP Crystal Solutions Downloads and click the Crystal Reports... link in the middle of the page and then select the correct versions and you'll find all of the dowloadables.
If they are not there then let me know and I'll follow up with the guys who publish the files.
Thank you

SBO 8.8 Crystal Reports 2008 SP01 Fix Pack 3
The 8.8 Administration Manual states that if CR 2008 SP01 is installed then Fix Pack 03 should be installed before installing SBO 8.8.
I cannot find a Fix Pack 03 on the SAP Crystal Reports Portal.
I can see Fix Pack 1.3 for SP01.
Is that the same thing?Hi Tony,
SAP introduced special version of CR for B1. If your CR 2008 is CR 2008 Basic for B1 then the Fix Pack 3 should be already in the package. You can dowbload it in the CR landing page (S id required). it is not available as seprate package.

Crystal reports 2008 Fix Pack 2.4 Release Notes
It seems to be impossible to find any release notes for any of the fix packs. Can anyone point me to them?
Also if it's anyone from SAP reading this why are release notes not distributed in the downloads section or a link to them. It's a ridiculous situation not being able to find them, how are we meant to know if issues are fixed we raise or about fixes we should be installing and are not even aware of.Filtering by Crystal Reports | Crystal Reports 2008, I see the items listed below. I cannot find any release notes.

Crystal reports 2008 SP1 missing in BusinessObjects Crystal Reports website
We have used Crystal reports 2008 as a reporting utility in our application and have released our product last year. During our release the latest software available was Crystal reports 2008 base + SP1 + SP2 + Fix Pack 2.7 and same was mentioned in our documentation as mentioned in BELOW.
The current supported version of Crystal Reports is Crystal Reports 2008 with
Service Pack 2 and Fixpack 2.7. The installation sequence is as follows:
1. Install Crystal Reports 2008 base.
2. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP1.
3. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP2.
4. Install Fixpack 2.7. This can be found under the hotfix section on the web site.
Questions
1) Now the issue is that, Crystal reports 2008 SP1 is NOT available for download in the "Business Objects u2013 Crystal Reports Runtime Packages". Why was it removed? Any clue? Without this our instructions doesn't hold good.
2) If Crystal reports 2008 SP1 will NOT be available any more then what is the equivalent installable for "Crystal reports 2008 base + SP1 + SP2 + Fix Pack 2.7" to be used? Can Crystalreports 2008 SP3 Full Build + Fix Pack 3.3 be used instead of "Crystal reports 2008 base + SP1 + SP2 + Fix Pack 2.7" ?
Pls Clarify.Hello,
Download Service Pack 3.0 full build: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
and then Fix Pack 3.3: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100016815822010E/cr2008fp33.exe
Then you and your users don't need to go through all of those upgrade steps.
Thank you

Crystal Report 2008 results "Password did not match error" in SQL Server Log
Hi,
I am trying to develop some crystal reports using Crystal Report 2008 SP4 to connect to SQL server 2008 through RDO (ODBC). My problem is that anytime Crystal Report is trying to establish a connection with SQL Server, first it tries to connect with the wrong password and results the following error message in SQL Server log:
Login failed for user 'peyman'. Reason: Password did not match that for the login provided. [CLIENT: 192.168.2.198]
The login name 'peyman' is the right one as I have quoted the same in setting up ODBC System DSN using "SQL Server Native Client 10". But somehow Crystal Report is taking its chance and trying to connect before prompting me for the password. After this error logged to SQL server side, I can see Crystal Report pops up the prompt to enter DSN password. After supplying password to this prompt, Crystal Report works fine and pulls the data and renders the report without having any more incorrect password error logged to SQL Server.
The attached file shows the step I am taking to regenerate the issue. I need this to be fixed as anytime uses any of these reports and tries to render it with crystal runtime engine the same error message raises in SQL Server side and logged in the log file.
Thanks,Hi Peyman,
This is the way it should work, In CR designer when you open the report it does nothing. As soon as you hit the Refresh button then CR tries to use the connection saved with the report. It assumes what is saved with the report is a valid server and connection info. CR simply tries to verify the server is still active.
If you don't want it to fail in CRD then before opening any report Click the File, Log on Database option and connect. Now when refreshing reports it won't log the failed.
In the SDK it does the same thing, it assumes the Server info is the same and does try to connect to verify the Server does exist. It only takes a few milli-seconds to do this
To stop this from happening set the log on info first then it won't log the attempt to connect, it's checking to see if Trusted is allowed.

Notice it doesn't try to connect first if I set the log on info first using code.
So nothing we can do to stop SQL server from logging this info. Check with the DBA, possibly they can "filter" out the application attempts to connect or change your work flow in the app.
If you have a Preview Button to view the report then simply add your Database log on info prompt there if Connectioninfo.Trusted is not true:
mainSecureDB = rpt.Database.Tables[tableIndex].LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity;
if mainSecureDB = false then prompt the user for log on info and set accordingly, if it is true the it should not fail when it connects.
This is simply a matter of changing your App work flow...
Thanks

Crystal report 2008 on a 64 bits machine
My company would like to develop a new .Net application which produce and view
some rountine crystal report on a 64-bits machine.
At the same time, this machine will also install a stand alone full product crystal report
2008 which allow to develope some adhoc report.
I would like to ask whether the full product crystal report 2008 can install and
run perfectly on a 64 bits machine. Do I need to have any special configuration during
or after installation?
On the other hand, I observe that the crystal report 2008 with service pack 0 can
support 64 bits. Is it true that the evaluation copy of crystal report 2008
on official site is that version and I can evaluate it on a 64 bits machine ?

Crystal Reports 2008 and Dynamic Images
Hello,
I have a windows .net application that uses a listing of items in a grid. The user selects an item then clicks the print button and that brings up a report viewer form and passes the photograph location in a parameter to the report document being loaded.
The first time that this report is printed, the image for the selected item is printed correctly. The next time the report is printed, the default image used to create the graphic object on the report is printed.
In addition if a user double clicks on the listing of items, a detail form is displayed. When the same report is printed from this screen, the default image used to create the graphic object on the report is printed.
This is happening in multiple .net windows applications.
Can anyone please give me an idea as to what may be causing this.
I am using Crystal Reports 2008 with Service Pack 2 installed.

In the Crystal Report the Graphic Location formula field takes the {?MyPhotoLocation} + {Table.Photo} field to display the picture. I have placed the parameter and the photo field on the report and the correct data is in the fields.
This is the exact same form being opened and that displays correctly from the listing screen.

The report runs fine on my development environment. What could be causing the error?See if the blog [Understanding "login failed" (Error 18456) error messages in SQL Server 2005|http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_protocols/archive/2006/02/21/536201.aspx] will help (big assumption on my part re. the db you are using...)
