As John noted, this is not a patch, but a complete upgrade. At a high level, you will need to
1. Install 11gR2 into a new ORACLE_HOME
2. Upgrade from 11.1.0.6 to 11gR2 using the Upgrade Guide - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e23633/toc.htm

  • Need help with upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite to PS CS4

My old laptop with Photoshop on it crashed and I ended up purchasing a new laptop.
I'm trying to reload my PS CS4.  I am using an upgrade from an educational Adobe Creative Suite Premium to the CS4 and when I loaded it on my old laptop I had to get installation help through customer service, but now customer service will not help me since it is CS4.
When installing the upgrade, it tell me to select the product I already own.  I own the educational full creative suite, but am only upgrading the Photoshop.  I chose Photoshop CS and tried entering the serial number for the suite.  It tells me that the serial number doesn't match the product chosen.  Of course the only products I'm allowed to choose from is Photoshop CS, CS2, or CS3 and not Creative Suite Premium.
The other serial numbers on this CS is Golive CO and Pagemaker Plug-in.
I was told there are Adobe customer service reps here on the forum, please tell me what it was I need to do to get my Photoshop installed.
    Thanks

i wasn't aware that you could get a ps4 at an upgrade price using an older creative suite produect.  i searched online and found this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/476009) which makes it appear that was not a valid upgrade path.
but, if you're confident that was a valid upgrade path, i'm pretty sure something will need to be done on adobe's end and no amount of manipulation, on your end only, will work.
your best bet would be to get help in this forum from an adobe staff member like jeff wright who is very knowledgeable and goes out of his way to help adobe customers.  to that end, if i were you, i would start a new thread mentioning his name in your title and in your initial post explaining:
you have the educational Adobe Creative Suite Premium and purchased a photoshop cs4 upgrade years ago that required adobe support help to install years ago.
that worked well until a recent computer problem forced you buy a new laptop and you are now trying to reinstall that ps cs4 and again need support help but have been refused help because cs4 is not current.

  • I need help please, upgrading from OS 10.6.8...

Please help me - I'm such a technophobe!! I need help upgrading from OS 10.6.8... I get part way through the process and get a box saying "The link needs to be opened with an application" and I don't know what to do next...

The only way to upgrade from 10.6.8 (which is high as Snow Leopard goes) is to obtain Lion or Mountain Lion from the Online Apple Store or Yosemite from the Mac App Store.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Yosemite (10.10.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only. Mavericks (10.9.x) is no longer available.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Yosemite are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Yosemite is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications). Mountain Lion can be obtained the Online Apple Store.
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • I need to silently upgrade from 3.5 to 7 but get an error message after 7 install. Platform version 7.0 is not compatible with minVersion = 1.9.1

I'm trying to silently upgrade my environment to FF 7. I've gotten the silent install working great, it puts in my Proxy Server info, reassigns the home page and all that. But, the last version we pushed out was FF 3.5. If a user had that on their PC and they run the FF7 install, they get weird messages when clicking on the icon.
XULRunner: Error: Platform version '7.0' is not compatible with minVersion >= 1.9.1 maxVersion <=1.9.1
    Another message they get is:

Do you have other virtualization or security software that might protect .ini and possibly other files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and prevent Firefox from updating them properly?
You need to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Need steps to Upgrade from Oracle 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4

    Hi Experts,
We have some databse of diffrent version running on the same host.
Two oracle homes are there on that host 1.) one for the databases running on Oracle 10.2.0.3 .
2.) 2nd one for the databases running on Oracle version 10.2.0.4.
Now we are planning to upgrade the oracle database running on 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 on the sane host.
My question is How to upgrade the database from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 by using the current oracle home already used by the databases of version 10.2.0.4 on the same host.
    OS is HPUX
    /db/oracle/10.2.0.4/ --- Host 1
    /db/oracle/10.2.0.3/ ---Host1
What steps i need to execute.
    Thanks in advance.

Get hold of the upgrade / install notes from the 10.2.0.4 patch and read them. If you go to the metalink site you can download the notes by themselves if
you don't have the patch file lying around.
Essentially what you want to do is shutdown the database in the old Oracle home and then start it up in the new oracle home so you can upgrade it.
    1) back it up!
    2) run any pre-upgrade checks - see 10.2.0.4 patch notes.
    3) shutdown database - see 10.2.0.4 patch notes
    4) move/copy init<SID>.ora,spfile<SID>.ora, orapw<SID> files for the instance to the new Oracle Home see $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
NOTE: you can ensure you are not starting the database using the OLD Oracle Home by moving the files out of the OLD $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory
or renaming them ( but don't delete them incase you need to back out ).
    5) update your /etc/oratab file and tnsnames.ora file / listener.ora files ( if applicable ) $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    6) update any enviroment settings / scripts you have for setting up your environment.
    7) start database using the NEW Oracle Home ( check and set environment variables ) "using" the upgrade procedure from the the 10.2.0.4 patch notes.

  • Re: Need advice on upgrading from 12.0.4 to 12.1.3 efficiently

    Hi Hussein :
Just some clarification needed. I'm setting up a new EBS r12 instance
Initially, I've already done Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 454811.1].
Then I ran into Upgrading OracleAS 10g Forms and Reports in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 437878.1].
    Question is
454811.1 already upgrades Forms Version to the latest 10.1.2.3.0. Do I still have to go through the patches/steps outlined in 437878.1? It (437878.1) does list many more patches than 454811.1. Do I have to install the patches in the second doc (437878.1)?

Doc ID 454811.1 will upgrade OracleAS 10g (10.1.3.x ORACLE_HOME) to the latest patches but not the forms/reports (10.1.2.x ORACLE_HOME) and you still need to follow the steps in 437878.1 to have the latest forms/reports (Developer 10g) patchset applied.

  • I need help with upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 Production Premium DISC version

    Hi,
i bought the Production Premium CS5.5 in 2011. I then bought the CS6 Upgrade (the boxed version). After the security desaster at Adobe, the keys were invalidated. So when now years after purchase I wanted to use my product, Adobe said I had to download the file CS6 (6GB) from the Adobe server. I did that. After unzipping, the Installer says that a file is missing and I should use a tool which is now not on the Adobe site since it has been discontinued.
It would be nice if anybody had an idea how to get this to work.
    Thank you in advance.
A former premiere fanboy that is now really annoyed.

Hi, thank you for the fast reply. I tried to put the downloaded file (7zip, CS6) und the small file (setup file 1MB) in a new folder with write priviledges. 150GB free space. It starts to unpack 3% then cancels due to insufficient space or a write priviledges error (none is true). I will try your link. Yes, I have both boxes here with the serial keys. CS 5.5 is installed on the PC so it should find it. The tool I mentioned is:  Adobe - Adobe Support Advisor

  • Need advice on upgrade from Snowleopard to Lion on MacBk Pro (15" late 2008)

I want to be able to synch my calendar on new iPhone, home MacBook Pro and office PC (with MS Office)... and I think I have figured out that I need to get Lion on my Mac instead of Snow Leopard.  Are there things I need to do to make this upgrade actually work?  I am a big user, but not so much a smart Mac user... kind of new to it.. advice appreciated.  pitfalls or suggestions... any reasons not to do it?

    Sara MacApple wrote:
So, do you have any advice about how I can synch my MacBookPro calendar with my iPhone?
Apple has incorporated features like that into iCloud, then restricted that to only users of 10.7 Lion as  leverage. They won't allow iCloud on 10.6 because people wouldn't upgrade. 10.6 runs a lot of expensive previously purchased software that there isn't a upgrade out yet. If people install Lion anyway on older hardware it slows most machines down and that encourages them to buy a new Mac prematurely. So you see what's going on here.
Apple changes stuff way too fast, then they quickly burn their bridges and previous users  behind them in the process. For instance, Apple doesn't support 10.5 at all anymore with security and stabilty updates, and that's a mere 4 year old OS X version.
Not to praise Microsoft, but they do support 10 year old XP still, 5 year old Vista and Windows 7 is going to be supported for at least 10 years or even longer. Windows 8 is going to run Windows 7 software too. So with Windows PC you can run your hardware until it drops dead, buy your software once every 10 years.
Apple has this crazy notion that we all should be replacing our hardware and expensive software on a 3 year basis. When in reality properly taken care of Mac hardware can last a decade easily, I have a XP friend who's Dell desktop is over 10 years old and still works fine.
If your a luxury consumer and just use your Mac for the basics,  can keep up with the 3-4 year expensive hardware and software changes, then buy all means buy a new Mac with Lion and get iCloud and then sync to your iPhone. Use the old Mac as backup for software that isn't ready for 10.7 yet.
If your more a Pro and/or conservative user, perhaps have a heavy investment in software, your machine is working perfectly, have a more longterm objective, then you should consider forgoing the new OS X features until third party software has released Lion compatible versions/updates and then make a decision to upgrade hardware and software at the same time so your workflow continues with the least disturbance.
Apple prefers to cater to the luxury consumer more than the "Pro" market because the luxury consumer can be leveraged to buy hardware on a faster upgrade cycle. The Pro user is trying to make money and therefore thinks more longterm to extract value out of their purchases.
I know this is a long winded answer, but since your machine is 4 years old and Lion will be slow on it, require opening up the machine to install RAM and replace all your software, you might as well buy a new machine to get the feature you want. If your not prepared to buy a new machine, then forgo it and learn to live without the new feature, your machine could last another 4 years easy and by then there might be no more computers, just all tablets or something, because Apple is ALWAYS changing.
If you take a serious look at Lion, you'll realize it's a transitional OSX version, to what exactly and what form of new hardware it will run on (perhaps even Apple's own processors) is a mystery. So Iv'e decided to stay on 10.6 for all the software choices, printers works just fine to, even on my new 2011 Mac and just wait it out and not thrown several thousand dollars away in a mere 3 years for no reason. When Apple gets to wherever they are going and settles down, the software industry catches up, by then my hardware will likely be ready for a upgrade, if I don't like waht Apple is doing, then I will switch to a alternative. But I won't be lead around on a leash and my wallet abused by Apple any longer, they need to grow up and act like a mature computer products company and quit dropping support for older OS X versions.

  • Need help with upgrade from WXP MCE to Vista Ultimate on Qosmio G30 - 175

Hi all, I tried searching for the following issue to no avail so I would be most grateful if someone could help and point me in the right direction:
Tried to upgrade the XP to Ultimate and it got to unpacking stage and BSOD "Session3_initialization_failed (xxx STOP: 0x0000006F (0xC000009D, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) appeared repeatedly. I tried again and the same happened.
I have already updated the BIOS and stripped the conflicts out of the Toshiba suite of programmes and the update advisor gave the OK on several ocassions before attempting this exercise.
    Help.........Dave

Forgot to mention too that I am currently running with 2 x 2GB Ram and no additional hardware or software has been added prior to attempting the upgrade. The medium I am using to upgrade is a recently purchased full retail version of 32 bit Vista Ultimate (which also includes a 64 bit version too in the box).
I have been in touch with Microsoft Support in recent days and they told me that my hard drive appears to be defective being the reason for the failed upgrade. Infact last week together with Microsoft on the phone we did attempt a clean install but that just lead to me having to abort the clean install and rescue my laptop back to original XP MCE.....flipping heck!!!!!

  • Need advice re upgrading from Tiger

I'm about to move to Leopard on my main production platform. Here are some (possibly dumb) questions:
    1. Is there any way to end up with a Tiger/Leopard platform which uses the same user directories? Ideally, I'd like to be able to move between OSen and have the same user data available.
    2. The machine has 4 internal drives. I plan to use Bootcamp and install Vista dedicating one of these (250 GB) drives to Vista. Sugestions? Cautions?
    3. The most important production applications I use are CS3 and FCS 3. What do I need to worry about?
    4. Anything else?
    Thanks!!!
    -Jeff

Some answers that may inspire further questions.
Item number 1. You CAN use the same user directories. In the Leopard User Accounts pref pane, ctrl click on a user name in the user name list to the left and you will get a menu offering "Advanced...". In the Advanced config, you can tell Leopard that the path for a users home directory is somewhere else. Just navigate to your existing User account and choose it. BIG CAUTION!!! This will cause a lot of grief if the user's UID are different between the two systems. UIDs are typically assigned in order, so you would need to create the users accounts in the exact same order in order to make this work. Otherwise, when changing OSs, you might find that you no longer own your own files under one or the other OS. I believe the best way to assure this comes out right would be to do an Archive and Install migrating user accounts. That should keep both OS version connected to the same accounts. This requires you to have enough room on a single disk for Tiger, Leopard and all your accounts.
Caution number two. Leopard will end up updating library pref files and setting for your apps to a Leopard format. If you switch OSs, Tiger may not be too happy with an occasional change. Be prepared for a little bit of weirdness if you keep going back and forth and expect to fully run each version.
Item number 2. Should work. I would make sure to disable Spotlight indexing on the boot camp drive. Also make sure Time Machine excludes that drive. It was defaulted to excluded for me, but your mileage may vary.
Item number 3, Sorry no experience there.

I found one on NextTechDirect for $150 to download. they are not a scam according to "scamadvisor.com."
When I drag the InDesign file that that was supplied by another designer who said it was  CS 6 onto my desktop it says CS 5.5. Is that because I only have CS 5.5?
    Should I buy this
Adobe InDesign CS6 Upgrade from CS5.5 WIN/MAC [Download] from Next tech....it is obviosly higher on the adobe site and alot of other places?

No one is likely to recommend where you buy your software from other than Adobe in these forums... not so much because of support for Adobe, but mostly because of lack of support/knowledge of any third party vendors.  I only know from experience that when you invest in bargain pricing you usually get what you pay for.

  • Upgrade from DS 4.1 to DS 5.1

    Hi all
we are presently running DS 4.1 on Solaris 7 on E 220 server , We came to know that Solaris 9 comes bundeled with the DS 5.1 which can be used in production setup free of cost upto 200,000 ldap entries ,
so we have decided to upgrade the DS server from 4.1 to 5.1 and offcourse the OS from solaris 7 to solaris 9
in this regard i am having following doubts so, if any one having an idea on any of the following pls reply i would be very grateful to all of you.
    1) DO i need to migrate the ldap schema file
    2) DO i need to migrate the ldap entries ( i mean is these any addition attribute needs to be added ??? ) or i simply have to take backup of existing data in ldif format and import the same ldif after ldap and schema migration ??
    3) are there any differences in API's ( Java & C ) of DS 4.1 and DS 5.1 ? the Interface written and being used for interacting with the DS 4.1 using API's needs to be changed ? or the same will work with DS 5.1
    4) is there any mannual fixes required to perform the upgrade activity ( both solaris 7 to solaris 9 & DS 4.1 to DS 5.1) or can be a smooth process
    5) is there any detailed document availabe which explains the process in detail ?
    6) we are using DS 4.1 along with the Iplanet Mail Server version 4.15 so after upgrading to DS 5.1 will the Iplanet Mail Server works without any problems or the Mail servers also need to be upgraded from version 4.15 to the higher compatible one ?
kindly help me out , i am already grateful to all of you for having patience and going through my queries.
    warm regards
    Prashant Desai

Regarding 1) and 2), you may need to do something manually to get your schema files ready to be migrated, but the entries you should be able to migrate using the script. Compare with the 5.2 docs, http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6697-10/upgrade.html , for an idea. They don't cover 5.1, but do handle some of the major points for a 4.x to 5.x migration. This also sort of covers 4) and 5).
Good luck with this, and especially with 3) and 6).

  • Patches and pre-task to upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3

I have a few questions regarding to pre-required patches and pre-tasks in order to upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3.
Currently, the system is on 12.1.1 and pre-required patch, 9039089 which is for R12.AD.B.delta.3 code level.
But, when I checked the document, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Readme [ID 1080973.1]...
    Q1.
    contents deleted.
However, the document 761570.1 is about the necessary steps of upgrade from 11i to 12.1.3.
Is this necessary/applicable still for my case as well?
    Q2.
    content deleted.
However, R12.1.1 already comes with 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 for the application server.
Is it needed to have these AS10g patches still in this case?
    Q3.
In short, what patches/steps are needed when I upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3 after all...? Followings are the ones I identified.
    9239089
    9239090
    9239095
    9817770
    9966055
So, is it sufficient to apply 9239089 for R12.AD.B.delta.3 code level, and continue with 9239090 (12.1.3 pack patch)?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Please follow note 1080973.1 and perform all patching on the forms, web and database tiers. There are a number of patches to apply to meet the requirements to upgrade.
Please follow R12.1 Oracle Financials Critical Patches note 954704.1 for post install critical patches on top of 12.1.3.
You will also need to follow support note HRMS (HR Global) Legislative Data Patch 145837.1 if implemented.
If you use Patch Wizard then you will need to apply patch 10629956. Please review New Required Patches for Patch Wizard, Patch Manager, and Oracle Application Change Management Pack note 1267768.1.
For best results and all steps recommended by support, please download the Maintenance Wizard tool. This tool will automate most of the upgrade steps and guide you step by step, only applying patches that are required for your installation.

  • Will upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion create problems within Premiere projects?

I'm looking at the probability of upgrading from Mac OSX 10.6 to 10.8 (Mountain Lion).  I have to if I want to install or upgrade just about anything at this point.
I was hoping to wait until the latest Premiere project was finished to avoid creating possible discrepancies between how the project plays back before and after the upgrade.  I'll skip the details and just say that it might be best if I do the upgrade now and install a new GPU to help with the massive amounts of rendering/playback needed.  Will upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion cause any likely problems?  No other Adobe apps are involved with this project.
I'm running a Mac Pro 5,1 and Adobe CS6.  I have two separate clone drives of my current boot disk as well as a Time Machine back up.  So I can go back if I really need to.  I'll also make sure the project is saved manually elsewhere.
    Thanks for any input!

I'm Win, not Mac, but I do have a couple saved messages
