I need to call some privileged APIs and need some help on this.

First the Basics:
This program auto-launches each time a user logs in. It is an authentication type of program. Only users with this app running will be allowed to use a secure network.
I need to be able to read and write from the route / arp tables, and possibly be able to 'reset' a network adapter. These are the privileged APIs I need to call. I have only found "UNIX" APIs to do this, no apple APIs although I am sure they would have the same restrictions.
Anyway, what I don't want is that elevate privileges prompt each time a user logs in. I am sure this would become very annoying.
Possible solutions (I have no idea how to do these):
1. The installer sets it up to run with admin / privileged access when it starts. I only know how to get a program to start with user privileges (the one that logged in).
2. The installer flags / registers something that this app can make those API calls. IE: The App is trusted.
3. The program is split in to two parts and uses Interprocess communication to talk to the privileged part. This still leaves problem #1, how do you get an app to launch as privileged.
Any other ideas and suggestions would be welcomed.

What you normally do in this case is write a kernel extension that does all the work and then have a user interface that the user runs. What you are describing sounds very much like a VPN. This is exactly how the Cisco VPN software works, for example.

Where is your site hosted? If it's hosted on MobileMe you can use SEO to edit the site online. No need to get it locally.
If the site is hosted with a 3rd party fpt client then publish your site to a folder on your hard drive, use SEO on it there and then upload the site to your server with a 3rd party ftp client.

Help Needed-iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have had this extremely frustrating problem that just recently started occurring with iTunes. I have read many discussion forums but can’t seem to find a working solution. The problem is every time I try to open iTunes I get an error message that says “iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.” The same thing happens when I try to open Quicktime as well.
I have tried every solution suggested in these forums. I have completely uninstalled Quicktime and iTunes along with their components (Bonjour, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, etc.) and then reinstalled each of them but the problem still remains. I do NOT use iTunes for my iPod (I do not own one) I simply use iTunes to listen to my music.
I have also tried the methods of installing Quicktime by itself and not with iTunes but the problem still remains. I have tried every solution I have seen. The only method I have not tried is completely removing all files and folders that have to do with iTunes because I am worried if I delete those files with all the music I have bought it will have to be downloaded again or lost.
This is the “Error Signature” that is on the error report when I try to open iTunes.

There was A LOT more information in the “Error Report Contents” but it would have taken me all night to type it all accurately. I'm new to C# and was given a project to rewrite some of my old VB.net programs to C# to help me learn. These VB programs call quite a few .bat files that have calls to java programs in them. I'm doing okay converting my VB code, but I've been
stumped for days trying to figure out how to call java from C#.
Does anyone here know how to do this? I really should've had this figured out by now and my back is to the wall. Ugh :(

What do you mean by 'not going through' ? If you are getting an error message then what does it say ?

I seem to have what used to be called a memory leak and need to restart FF every 45 minutes or so - can I fix it?

2fter about 2 weeks of closely monitoring 2 PC's with roughly the same specs running the same Facebook game it has become clear that as minutes go by the amount of memory being consumed by Firefox goes up. It starts at about 250 megs and runs up to about 1 gig in ~45 minutes. Both machines are 3 ghz, 3gb machines running 32 bit XP home. (Older P4 CPU's) One of the machines is running DDR2 and the other DDR
When the memory get's to about 750 megs used by FF the entire system bogs down noticeably and gets almost unusable beyond that. Is there something I can do about it or is there a way for me to automate the shut down and restart of FF and have it return to the game?

A tiny suggestion,
I heard that a lot of the time this is caused by extensions and add-ons. Try to disable all of them and see if it is any difference. If its better just enable one extension at the time until you found the problem.
If you cant solve the memory issue, here is a fix that should work making ff restart, if not at a specific memory usage, but on a specific time at least:
Open notepad and write the following:
''taskkill /f firefox.exe''
Name it FFShutdown.bat and save it
Open a new page of notepad with this line:
start firefox.exe https://support.mozilla.com/
Save that file as FFstart.bat
Now go to windows task scheduler
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks
Browse to your FFShutdown.bat and choose daily and set a time.
Do the same for FFStart.bat but set it one minute later.
Repeat this if you want it happen more than once per day.

The current version of Acrobat Pro (XI) does support the embedding of 3D models provided they are in U3D or PRC format, and Adobe Reader will display them as it always has done - but only on desktop operating systems. Adobe has never supported 3D on mobile.
The last version which came with a file converter tool to translate 3D models into U3D was Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. That's been discontinued for years and reached End of Life in June 2013, which means Adobe no longer provides any support for installation or use of that version.
The file converter tool which shipped with Acrobat 8.3D was licensed from a third-party and is now part of the SAP document management platform. It is no longer sold as a standalone product.
As of Acrobat X, all 3D model translation is handled by commercial plugins available from Adobe's official partner - http://www.tetra4d.com

IDVD created DVD plays on some DVD players and not others, HELP!

I just finished a huge wedding photo montage and burned it using iDVD to a standard DVD-R. I popped it into a Sony home DVD player and all went well, and looked great. Next I tried the DVD in a Mintek portable DVD player (so it's easier to take to the wedding and connect to the LCD projector) and the DVD is not recognized. I tested another computer burned DVD (from a wedding video that was burned on a PC) in the mintek and it does work. I also tested the mintek using a standard store bought DVD movie and it worked fine.
Any thoughts on why this might be happening? I've browsed through the prefs for iDVD in search of some "compatibility" options but there aren't any.
The wedding is Saturday so I'm really hoping to get this sorted out quickly.
BTW I'm using the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-815 (the one that came standard in the original 1GHz, 17" Powerbook)

Your problem is the Mintek portable DVD player.
Some older DVD players will not play the newer burned media.
This is by design to force conusmers to always upgrade and update there equipment to stay a head of the technology curve.
I had the same problem with a 2 year old stand alone player wouldn't play anything I burned. It would play on other computers and on newer stand alone players but not on a 2 year old player. (VERY FRUSTRATING) I bought a new cheap stand alone and quess what , All was good it played.
There are different codes that are on these players that distingish the players capability.

I currently have Macromedia Captivate 1 Education Version and would like to upgrade to Captivate 4.
1. In Captivate 1 if you create Flash demos, it creates an HTML file and a SWF file. I heard from someone who has Captivate 3 that it now creates more than 2 files. Is this true for Captivate 4?
2. I read in Captivate version comparison page that Captivate 4 has the ability to convert your Captivate demo in to PDF with Captivate 4. If so, will the PDF carry the 'demo features' or will it be a standard PDF?
3. I have an Education version for Captivate 1 so is it cheaper to upgrade to Captivate 4 or just purchase Captivate 4 and does Captivate 4 have an education version?

We will be happy to try and help. Indeed you may end up with more than two files when you create content from version 4. Is this a problem? If so, why?

Please restate the question. I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. From what I understand, you end up with a PDF containing your Captivate output.

I think Adobe has education versions for most or all of their products. If Captivate 1 has an education version I'd be surprised if 4 didn't. But only Adobe Sales can definitively answer that. Or perhaps another user that purchased (or was denied purchase of) a Captivate 4 education version.
