I need to rotate a string indicator 90 degrees. Is this possible

To make my front panel less cluttered, I would like to have my string indicator rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise. Is this possible and if so will I be able to place it in an array of strings? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

So just color the indicator transparent, and feed the text to the caption (i.e. use the caption as an indicator).

While fundamentally, this would provide a potential work-around.  I find it morally objectionable Whats next? tategaki?

    Hi,
    You can do this with Adobe Acrobat.
    If you are using Export PDF it is a long procedure.
    You need to convert your PDF in word or powerpoint.
    Then you can edit the document & again can create PDF.

  • Rotation of String using JDK1.2

    I need to rotate a string in an applet. I am able to do that using AffineTransform Class found in(java.awt.geom.AffineTransform) but the problem is that its not visible in Browser.
    Can u give me the other alternative for this.
    Its Urgent.

    Use a browser that supports java correctly ;-)
    Installing the Java Plugin wil fix it. Using Opera with Java might help.
    But i guess you want to place the applet on a website and cannot order users to use specific sofware. Take a look at the Java API documentation to see since when the functions you use are in the API. You are using an up to date api but that doesn't go for browsers.
    But i wouldn't be able to tell you what each browser supports and what not.
    But I do have some vague memmories of java.awt.geom.AffineTransform wich does 2D transformations and is standard api and an AffineTransform in the Java3D api, wich is an extension and unlikly to be supported by browsers.
    So find out what you are using an what browsers support...

  • Change the colour of lines in the same string indicator.

    Hi everybody,
    I'm getting crazy, because I'm looking for the way to change the colour of
    the lines I want in the same string indicator.
    I'm doing an application to control an instrument by serial port, and I'm
    concatenating the lines that this instrument gives me, but there is some
    line that I would want to change its colour, because there has been an alarm,
    for instance. And I only can change all the string.
    Is there any way to do this? I don't know.
    Could you please help me?

    Thank You Very Much.
    The fourth step is a little bit difficult to understand, but what I've done
    is all the three first steps, and in the fourth one I've made an array (I32)
    of the lines that I don't want to highlight and connect it to Disabled tems.
    Do you think this is a good solution?
    Thank you again for your help. I really needed someone to help me, because
    if not I would still be with the STRING INDICATOR.

  • CR in vs 2005 (whatever version that it) - rotate a textobject 180 degrees.

    I am sure that this horse has been flogged before ... somewhere ... but I have given up endlessly searching for it.
    I need to rotate a report (onto a label, in fact) 180 degrees ... sometimes. The labels have a pre-printed footer and, depending on the label manufacturers, they may be inverted. I cannot trust that the user will be able to create a custom label to suit my needs so I must use a default 4"x2.5" portrate label as my "default" label.
    I know that CR only allows limited rotation so how do I mimic a text object rotated 180 degrees?
    Any ideas????

  • Need help rotating a button

    I'm very new to Flash ans AS3, but here's what I've got:
    I need my buttons to rotate on rollover and rollout. I've got
    it pretty close to what I want, but not quite.
    here's the code:
    import fl.transitions.*;
    import fl.transitions.easing.*;
    homeGear_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,buttonRotateOn);
    homeGear_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT,buttonRotateOff);
    function buttonRotateOn(event:MouseEvent):void
    TransitionManager.start(homeGear_mc, {type:Rotate,
    direction:Transition.OUT, duration:1, easing:Regular.easeInOut,
    ccw:false, degrees:90});
    function buttonRotateOff(event:MouseEvent):void
    TransitionManager.start(homeGear_mc, {type:Rotate,
    direction:Transition.IN, duration:1, easing:Regular.easeInOut,
    ccw:true, degrees:90});
    so as this goes: if I hold the mouse over the button it
    rotates to 90 degrees and pops back to the starting position and
    keeps rotating over and over again. I need it to stop after 90
    degrees and hold that position. I'm guessing I should use a stop
    action somewhere, perhaps as part of an "if" statement -still
    learning.
    also, when I roll out, the button rotates back to it's
    original position, but disappears when it gets there. Obviously I
    need it to hold.
    -any thoughts?
    thanks,
    mike

  • Actionscript 2 help needed on rotating movieclip

    I need help with the "stopping" of a movieclip rotation.  I think this would be easy for you Flash gurus but impossible for me.
    Here is the description.  The code below shows a movieclip rotating after mouse click but i want it to stop in place after 60 degrees.  Basically I need it to rotate 60 degrees after every mouse click and stop.  The "trace" function is there so i know something will happen when it rotates a certain degree.  Right now it rotates continually after the mouse click.
    mc.onRelease=function(){
         mc.onEnterFrame=function(){
              mc._rotation=mc._rotation+=10;
              if(mc._rotation==60){
              trace("HIT");
    As a bonus i would like the rotation of every 60 degrees to ease in and out.  Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

    When the _rotation value reaches the 60 degree mark, you need to delete the onEnterFrame delete mc.onEnterFrame;.
    There is only one position where the _rotation value will == 60, so if the intention is to stop it at every 60 degrees, then you'll need to change the conditional to be...
    if(mc._rotation%60==0){
    So....
    mc.onRelease = function(){
         mc.onEnterFrame = function(){
              mc._rotation = mc._rotation+=10;
              if(mc._rotation%60==0){
                 trace(mc._rotation);
                 delete mc.onEnterFrame;
    If you want to have easing, I suggest looking into using Actionscript tweening.  With steps of 10 there's little room to ease.

  • How do I rotate a video 90 degrees with premiere elements 9?

    I shot a birthday video of the neighbors 5 year old with my Canon T2i camera.  Had to turn the camera on its side to get everything in the shot.  I can view the video right side up in the canon software but can not make the change permanent so the neighbor can watch it on his computer.  Can I rotate the video 90 degrees in premiere and make it permanent?  If not, where do I go?
    Thanks

    [email protected]

    As Steve says, Rotation with Video, is not so straightforward.
    If you oriented the camera on its side, to get more of the image, then I would recommend that after you Rotate the Video, that you Scale it to fit perfectly within the Frame Size. This will result in Pillar Boxing, with black bars on the sides, as with Video, you have a horizontal Aspect Ratio.
    If this was just due to the mechanical need to mount the camera sideways, or due to an error, then one could Rotate, then just Scale Up and effective crop the top, or bottom, or both with the Project's Frame Size.
    This is often done when taping actors for bluescreen work, but in that case, one is going to eliminate the bluescreen background anyway, and Key the material into a horizontal Video background, so the end result is different, than what you have.
    Now, one artistic treatment would be to Rotate, and then use your footage as a PiP, inside of a larger image. Though it was written for doing this with stills in a Video, look at this ARTICLE for some ideas on how this might be used with your footage. The actual application of those techniques will ONLY be limited by your imagination. Hope that it gives you some good ideas.
    Good luck,

  • Text output using string indicator from subVI to mainVI

    Hi,
    I think I asked similar question before, but since then my program got more complicated.
    Here is my issue.
    I have a program with nested loops to print out the stream of strings in subVI
    and it needs to be updated in a string indicator in mainVI.
    When I say "update", it needs to be updated as it comes out line by line, not by
    the block when the loop is finished.
    I was not successful doing this by both shift register or RefNum.
    Maybe I do not know the advance usage these two.
    So can someone show me how?
    I have attached simplified version of my labview program.
    Thank you in advance!!!

    Hi horanyee,
    use some standard shift registers to achieve your goal... They will keep the previous valu so you can ad the new line!

  • If I rotate a .mov 90 degrees in QuickTime, is it lossy?

    If I rotate a .mov 90 degrees in QuickTime, is there lossy compression when I save it?

    I think that when you rotate a .mov in Quicktime and then SAVE it, no re-encoding is done. Instead, the display settings are set, so that the movie gets rotated "on the fly" when it is played back. The good news is that you don't get lossy reencoding. The bad news is that you have to spend the machine cycles to rotate the image during playback.
    If you EXPORT the rotated movie, then you will re-encode. So if you are producing sideways movies, do as little transcoding as you can until you're ready for your final export, then do the rotation and export the rotated movie using your distribution compression method. For example, I'm working on a project that I shot in DV-25 that needs to be rotated. I'm going to either turn my monitor over, or work lying down until I get the editing done, leaving me with a DV-25 encoded project. I'll rotate that in QuickTime and then export the rotated video to MPEG-4 or H.264 for distribution.
    That was exactly the workflow I used for this test clip, encoded using the 3ivx MPEG-4 encoder:
    http://capital2.capital.edu/admin-staff/dalthoff/rrc/dragmagnum.mov
    You can "open URL" in QuickTime for more details. The encoding loss you see is first-generation MPEG-4 loss caused not by the rotation, but by the encoding to MPEG-4; that is, it would look pretty much exactly the same (although because of the way the encoder works, the encoder errors would be different) if I had not rotated it.

  • Saving text written in a string indicator on the front panel

    Hi,
    As a new LabVIEW user I'm trying to type a manual to explain how to use the software program I'm writing. I would like to display it on the front panel in one of the tab windows. There is quite a lot of writing and I would like the user to be able to scroll through the text. I tried inserting a string indicator, right clicking on it and selecting 'visible items'>>'scrollbar'. However, when I saved my changes the writing in the indicator was not saved with the rest of the changes. I'd be grateful for any advice.
    Thanks,
    Adrian
    [email protected]

    Adrian,
    The 'data' in your string indicator was probably not saved as 'default', so that when you closed the VI and re-ran it, it was lost.
    For any data (strings, numbers, etc.) that you want to have as default, you will need to rt-click the indicator/control and under data operations, select 'make current value default' (when you have the data entered).
    Also - add an Invoke node function to force this indicator to display the default data upon initial running of the VI.
    Another way, though, when you have a 'lot' of text, is simply save your info in a text file, and have a VI open the file and display it either as the text file itself, or as input into a string indicator.
    Good Luck, Doug

  • Need to rotate image around the axis

    Hi, I'm using this ti rotate the image, it works but I need to rotate the image around the center of the image, center axis.
    I don't understad what is the meaning of values 50 and 60, and what I need to write instead?
    public void paintComponent_new(Graphics g){
    super.paintComponent(g);
    Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D)g;
    g2.rotate (Math.toRadians(angle),60,60);
    g2.drawImage(pre.getImage(), 50, 50, this);
    g2.dispose();
    }

    Using that method, the rotation occurs around the point (x,y). The rotation is a measure of theta radians. One radian translates to 180/PI degrees; thus, there are 2*PI radians in 360 degrees.
    So if, for example, you wanted to rotate round the point (40,40) exactly 90 degrees, you could use
    Graphics2D g2d = ...;
    g2d.rotate(Math.PI/2, 40, 40);Note that this rotation is a translation of the view, not a translation of any contents. That means that anything drawn to the Graphics2D object will appear as if rotated in that fashion. Therefore, if you draw an image onto that Graphics2D object after calling rotate in that fashion, the image will be rotated as well.
