I received a computer passed down to me but it has someone else's itunes on it. How do I get all of that off to get my stuff on it?

I got my cousin's old computer and she still has all of her music and apps on it. I would like to get rid of all of that to get my music on the computer. She did get everything on itunes through icloud so I am scared to delete everything because I dont know if it will delete her stuff from her phone and new computer. If anybody knows what to do please help! Thanks!

If you want the computer to operate entirely as if it is yours instead of hers, then you need to start from scratch and erase everything off the computer. Then you reinstall OS X and configure the system for yourself.
Deleting iTunes just removes iTunes. Does nothing else. Everything else on the computer would remain the same.
If you just want to remove her iTunes Library, then navigate to the /Home/Music/ folder. Drag the iTunes folder to the Trash and Empty the Trash. Her stuff is now gone. Now transfer your iTunes folder onto the drive in the same location. Note, however, this doesn't change anything else on the computer.

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

The guy at att told me that icloud would sync everything i had in my notes, calendar, and text messages to my new phone, but it only synced some of my notes, none of my messages, or calendar info.

Your music will only be where you put it. It will not magically appear on a new computer.
Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
If for some reason you cannot do this, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an iphone: Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases
You can also redownload itunes purchases from icloud in some countires:

The ipod/iphone/ipad are not backup sotrage devices.
Certainly you did not upgrade your computer without making sure that your backup copy of your computer was up to date. Just use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

The The person who gave yo the iPod did not have the right/licence to also give you the media on the iPod. If you use it yo are stealing.
Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content end Settings and set the iPod up with your media.
