I recently installed a new Airport WIFI on my I-Book G-4. Works fine, but the WIFI doesn't automatically come on after the PC sleeps. How to fix??

My new WIFI works fine, but doesn't automatically give me a WIFI connection when I "power up" or even after the PC sleeps. I probably skipped a step in the installation process, but don't know which one. I gone back thru the installation process a couple of times, but still no luck. I've had a WIFI previously on this IBook G4 and it worked automatically. This is easy to get going after "sleep," but after powering back up it more difficult, since the name is no longer in the WIFI airport list. HELP??

Have you tried System Preferences/Network Pane. Click on Airport and then click the options bar next to the show status in the menu bar. At the top of the next window is a a question "if no recent networks are found". Click and select the automatic choice. It may work.

Firstly, try a hard reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't work, try restoring your device. Put it in recovery mode if iTunes doesn't recognise it, and restore it from there. I have linked to instructions below.

+For now I have it set to Share Public IP address - Is this correct for my Network Setup with The Airport Extreme being the only router being used ?+
This would be the correct setting if the AirPort Extreme is connected to a simple modem (one ethernet port).
*Settings I have Enabled*
5 GHz name indicates that you have elected to use the option to assign a separate name to the 5 GHz network. This will allow you to "tell" compatible computers to connect to that network, rather than the slower 2.4 GHz network
Use Wide Channels is recommended for 5 GHz operation.
Interference Robustness often does more harm than good and should not be used unless you know you are in a area with a lot of wireless networks and you feel that your network is experiencing interference issues from a nearby network.

I updated via my iPhone 4s. The apps were on my iPhone 4s. That's all the information that I have. The update to ios7 seems to have gone smoothly - everything else is working, phone texting, email, internet, etc. But all of the apps I had installed over the past year are no longer showing up as shortcuts. No facebook, no twitter, no espn, etc. They are all still listed in my app store as purchased, but the shortcuts and my folders are gone. Thanks.

I am downloading Firefox but it does not engage. i had a prior version which worked fine but the new version is not even showing a home page.

Sounds like there might be an issue with an application that might be causing these issues. The reason I say that is, when the phone is in Safe Mode you are able to access the Settings screens with no issues. While in Safe Mode that does block all 3rd party applications from running on the phone. I would suggest on trying to back up the device and perform a factory reset: http://spr.ly/6-182Vuo (you would want to make sure to uncheck Automatic Restore in step 3). Once the reset is complete try to see if you can get into Settings. Then, I would recommend on adding 3rd party applications back on to the device one by one to see if we can find what app might be causing this issue. Plz help. Created manual backup; won't load on new computer (save FF version). Restore appears to work fine but bookmarks aren't there.

Followed the info and backed up my old bookmarks to a file on a USB flash drive. When I follow the same instructions to restore, everything appears to be working correctly. I say ok to replace current bookmarks with saved file, close...and then nothing has been overwritten/none of my saved bookmarks appear. What am I doing wrong? Are the old bookmarks saved in an area I'm not looking in?

What kind of backup did you make?
A JSON backup or an HTML backup?
Restoring a JSON backup will replace all current bookmarks and importing an HTML backup will add the bookmarks to each of the three main (root) bookmarks folders. You can open an HTML file in Firefox via File > Open File to see all the bookmarks in that file.
Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup. 
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties. 
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File" 
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links.

Airport used to work fine, but won't connect to internet now

Hello. I bought my Macbook pro about two weeks ago and never had problems with my internet connection. I moved last week to another city, and had my wi-fi installed today. My brother has a Powerbook G4 and it worked fine with the new connection, but my Mac won't; it won't connect automatically when I turn the computer on and when I click on "open network preferences", nothing happens. I already got connected by clicking on Network Diagnostic in Safari, but i'd like to do so without going through all that everytime I need to get on the internet.
Can anybody help me to fix this problem? I'd really appreciate that. Thanks in advance.

Tell us about your network. How are you connected to the internet? Cable modem, DSL?... Is there a router involved? Which one is it? System Preferences>Network>Show:Airport>TCP/IP are you getting an IP address?

STACK: / [ -mark- /sfnts I’ve tried shutting down the printer and disconnecting it and the Airport, but that doesn’t help. I reset the settings on the printer. I upgraded the Airport firmware and removed, reinstalled, and upgraded the Lexmark printer driver. After I upgraded the firmware and printer driver, a few pages printed correctly, but then I got the same syntax error page as before. Any suggestions for getting the printer to work correctly?

Use a powered USB hub between the AE and the printer.. the usb port does sometimes have issues.
Try deleting the printer in the Mac and reinstall it.. the change in AE can represent effectively a change of printer.. it is important to make sure that is all up to date.
Beyond that.. USB printers.. ughhh! Consider for two toners you can go and buy a proper network printer.

Installed my new Airport extreme and try to link it to airport express but the wifi still very slow

Any wired connection or WiFi network extension (using your AirPort Express) with your second floor will make your network signal stronger but not necessarly faster. If your WiFi signal is so poor that internet connection keeps dropping, it will make a speed difference. Otherwise the only difference you'll notice is that the range of the wireless network has increased.
You say "wifi is very slow on the second floor". Do you mean that the internet is slow? Is it very fast on the first floor?
Try checking your internet connection speed on a laptop on each floor:
speedtest.net
and press "begin test recommended server".
The download speed should approximate your ISP contracted speed. Upload speed will be a fraction of this. Wifi will be slower but unless you have a super-fast internet connection, you probably shouldn't notice it.

Also, when I check out the hardware list, under Disc Burning - the following is reported: No disc burning device was found. If the device is external, make sure it’s connected and turned on.
The disc drive worked fine prior to the HD upgrade and OS update to Mt. Lion.
