I rented a movie on iTunes via iPad with the intention of watching it on AppleTV later at home. Why isn't this showing up in my account on AppleTV (or in iTunes on my computer for that mater)? Apple promotes the rental service as being able to allow viewers to watch, start/stop, content on all account related iOS devices.

It would be nice but I've never seen them explicitly advertise that.
Can I play my rental on more than one device?
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

If I rent a movie thru iTunes, how long does the rental last?
It lasts 30 days from the time of rental, or 24 hours from the time it's first viewed(if in the USA), or 48 hours from the time it's first viewed(outside the USA), whichever comes first.

I downloaded a movie from the iTunes store using my iPhone. I want to view it on my iPad2, but can't find where it is. Help?
If you rented the video on your iPhone, it's on your iPhone. You will need to watch it from there.

I rented Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and when I tried to watch it, the movie would not play. I received the error message (-42408). What does this mean and what should I do?
Is all other content purchased using the same iTunes Store account also failing to play with that error message?

I rented two movies from iTunes using my iPad. They show us as purchased but will not run from there. I get a message saying I have 24hours to watch then it just goes back to iTunes. I looked in video app where they usually go and nothing is there. Any ideas for a fix are welcome?
ThanksYou did try tapping on one of them in that list in the iPod app! This has happened to me and I was able to start the movie from there. You could try restarting the iPad, go into the iPod app and try again.
Now I'm stumped unless it is a corrupt download. You did download right onto the iPad - correct? If you downloaded in iTunes, there is a Move tab or function that you have to select to transfer the movies to the iPad when you sync. They just don't sync over without selecting move. -
I rented a movie from ITunes and it is on my IPad. I wanted to watch it on Apple TV however there is no airplay ap showing up. What should I do
That won't be possible. You can only view a rental on the device used to do so, unless it is done via computer (in which case you can stream using home sharing)

I rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it. Is there any way around this?
The issue was that a dialogue box came up which said that I couldn't play this movie on another device. I tried playing the same movie on an Tv with an HDMI connection attached to an adapter to the IPad and that worked. I wonder if the problem is that the digital projector has a VGA connection.

Can i use an iTunes Gift Card to rent a movie from iTunes on my iPad? And if so, how?
Why can't I use an iTunes gift card in Canada to purchase apps for my iTouch?
Inquiries to the iTunes Store have yielded only the following explanation:
"Due to tax laws and commerce restrictions for software in Canada, customers residing in Canada may only purchase games and applications using a credit card."
What these "laws/restrictions" might be have never been identified.
Can I somehow exchange the giftcards that I have for App gift cards?
There are no "app gift cards". Again, you can only use a credit card to purchase software in the Canadian iTunes Store.
Problem is I don't have a credit card to purchase the apps.
Perhaps you could obtain one of the "prepaid" credit cards some banks offer. If not, then the only way you'll be able to buy apps is to get someone to allow you to use their credit card. -
I rented a movie in iTunes and connected my iPad to transfer the movie to the iPad. The rental section will not pop-up and I have confirmed the movie is not an HD movie. Any suggestions on what to do next?
I would ask iTunes Store support for help with this. You may never be able to get the movie to download on your own now.
Go here and then tap on Connecting and downloading, then tap on Movie Rentals. You can have someone contact you, you can chat online or you can get email support. I would opt for the phone call or online chat.

Why won't my iPad 2 rent a movie on iTunes?
MY iPad 2 won't rent a movie on iTunes. Help.
While there are posts about people having problems with a Wi-Fi connection this is not at all a universal problem. I have never had any problems connecting to Wi-Fi either at my home or at the many other locations I use my iPad.
There is a normal sequence to setting up a Wi-Fi network. Normally one starts their modem to connect to the Internet. This is the DSL Modem, a Cable modem or, as in my case, a satellite modem. Once the modem signals that you have a connection to the internet then power up your router. Once the router has completed its startup sequence and indicates that it is connected to the Internet, then start your iPad.
If your modem is signaling connection to the Internet you do not need to restart it. But you should try turning off your iPad and your router. The router usually does not have a power button so to turn it off you unplug it for 30 seconds or so. Then plug it back in to turn it on. Wait until it signals a connection to the Internet before turning on your iPad.
