Signed up for the Technical Communications Suite Subscription yesterday. Now when I launch FrameMaker, I get a dialog box saying I either have to use it as a trial version (for 30 days) or buy it. If I click buy it prompts for a serial number.
On installation when I tried to access my adobe account in the dialog box that appeared. It said I didn't have an internet connection. My internet was working fine and I got the same message even once I launched my browser.

Did you install using an account with admin privileges? Do you have any Group or other security policies on machine that may restrict new software installs?
For installation issues, it's best to contact customer support.

Not sure what CCS has that you’re referring to, but TCS5 is out and can be installed via subscription or downloaded installer.

Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:

You can try to figure out which Apple ID/email address and/or password you used to activate it by going to http://iforgot.apple.com
If you can't, you'll need to contact Apple Account Security with your proof of purchase.

Moving from Frame 7.1 and WebWorks to the Technical Communication Suite

My doc team currently uses Frame 7.1, Acrobat 7.0 Standard,
and WebWorks ePublisher Pro 9.1 to generate our printed docs and
online help. Now we are looking at the Adobe Technical
Communication Suite to do it all. However we have some concerns
about moving everyone over and the impact it could have on our
existing docs, templates, and workflow.
Has anyone had a similar situation and switched to ATCS?
What issues did you encounter?
Can Frame 7.1 and ATCS live together on the same computer?
Does a ATCS install mess up WebWorks ePublisher Pro 9.1?
Can you use source files from Frame 8 in ePublisher Pro 9.1?

I went from FM7.1 and WWP to TCS. Not a great result.
I use structured FM with an EDD. FM and WWP always produced
the end product. It just worked!
Are you using structured FM. If so, then think again about
the move. TCS does not support the structured elements. Elements
such as xrefs, index and glossary do not come across to RH.
The fact that TCS does not support structured FM wasn't
visible until after I made the move. I hear structured FM support
will be in the next version release. But I can't find out when that
will be.
Until then, Adobe support suggest the following work around -
create read/write rules, but they are not very forthcoming on how I
should implement them with my EDD. If anyone can help with this, I
would certainly appreciate it.
However, if you are not using structured FM, then TCS seems
to work like a dream. A definate plus for single sourcing. Works
really well with RH7.

I am having problems downloading the Technical Communicator Suite

I've been trying the same with Technical Comm Suite 3.5 for two days. No one available to help. The many many instruction sets for working around problems don't work...not one of them!
My solution? The only solution that has ever got results for me before. I call their headquarters in San Jose, complain to the receptionist, get put through to a real person, and finally get help. This seems to be the only solution to getting softward downloaded and installed.
Unfortunately, there is no one there today (Sunday), so I lose another entire day of work tomorrow monkeying around with them. This makes three days of income I've lost because the download doesn't work and noone seems interested in supporting their products.

I am sorry for your difficulties. Can you provide any details regarding what was causing the problem and how you resolved the issue? This will help aid with assisting other users experiencing similar difficulties in the future.

Upgrading to Captivate 8 with Technical Communication Suite subscription

I have a TCS5 subscription which includes Captivate 7 - I would like to upgrade to Captivate 8. After advice from Adobe help team, I have uninstalled existing version of TCS and downloaded trial of current version which contains Captivate 8. All programs install correctly but Captivate will only run as trial - even after signing in with my Adobe ID. When installing there was a symbol next to Captivate 32 and 64 bit which says it will only install as a trial. Is this available for existing subscription users yet? If not - when will it be available? I was led to believe at the time I got the subscription that I would have access to the latest software when it comes out. Is this not the case?

When I reinstall iphoto from my iwork disc it installed Ok, but when I clk on the icon it says that my library is unavailable, use the new iphoto. What is the problem? You reinstalled an old version of iPhoto after you updated your library to the newer version.
Update ALL your software and try again.
Click the Apple Menu at the upper left-hand corner of your screen and select "Software Update..."
Repeat until it tells you there are no more updates.
AND, launch the App Store application located in your Applications folder to see if there are any updates there as well.

The first thing I looked at was the upgrade price, which is I
think is pretty reasonable. I may not have made it clear in my
other post that I installed the RH7 trial with RH6 still installed.
I'm pretty sure management will spring for an upgrade, and I don't
intend to use RH6 simultaneously at that point--only while I'm
doing the trial.
The main thing I'm checking out is the double-byte character
support. One complaint I have there is that in HTML view, Japanese
characters are showing as squares. If I open the same topic file in
Notepad, the Japanese characters show up there, so I know RH7 isn't
really messing up the characters, it's just not displaying them in
HTML view. This still makes it difficult to manipulate Japanese
text in HTML view. Does anyone know if there is a way for these
characters to display in HTML view properly? Should I start a

Solved: Technical Communication Suite 2 Installer Crashes

I was repeatedly getting a crash installing Tech Comm Suite 2 in Windows XP from installation files I downloaded to my hard drive. The crash happened in the preinstallation phase, right at the beginning even before a serial number was requested.
The Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2 Installer would freeze then crash with a message, "Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2 Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I had the correct specs and resources for the installation and had turned off all the stuff I could think of. FM8 and CS3, including Acrobat 8 Pro, were installed but not running.
I found a workaround to this problem in the Adobe Knowledgebase and it works under light testing. Though, FM 9 is not outputting fonts correctly using Acrobat 9 (though Word and FM8 do not have this issue), but all seems functional.
I'm a little nervous because it does not look like the TCS 2 installer did a complete removal of Acrobat 8 when it installed Acrobat 9, but I have not yet run into a gotcha.
Here's what I found that worked to get TCS 2 installed:
1) Access the KB search http://www.adobe.com/support.
2) Search for "Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2 Installer" in the product "Technical Communication Suite" and select the "Product Support" checkbox.
3) Many results are for Vista--so Vista users presumably could run into this, too. Look for "Troubleshooting system errors and freezes (Technical Communication Suite 2 on Windows Vista) (kb408338)."
4) Pay attention and try step 4.: "4. Run Technical Communication Suite 2 while no other applications are running" as follows

Read the options carefully - it doesn't mess with the CS3 components.

For the font issue:
Check the settings in the Adobe PDF printer instance:
Printing Preferences > Paper/Quality > Advanced... button - should
have Download as Soft Font for the TrueType option enabled
Printing Preferences > Adobe PDF Settings
Do NOT have the "Rely on system font only; do NOT use document fonts"
option enabled!
Properties > General tab > Substitution table - except for Symbol and
Courier, there should be no substitutions allowed.
Also, check your Distiller options to see if the font location is
correctly specified and if the Fonts section of the joboptions in use
does not have a "Never Embed" setting for some of the fonts.

It's become very apparent that in order for me to be productive quickly using FrameMaker 9 and the rest of the applications in the Technical Communications Suite, I need some formal training and purchase of the online training looks attractive. I couldn't get any specific information as to which versions of the applications in the suite are covered, but I did see where the training library is updated regularly. I'm hoping this means once training of the new versions of the Technical Communications Suite is released (such as FrameMaker 9), I'll have access to them. I called the 1800 ordering phone number, but their response was "we are currently undergoing re-organization, so please call back Wed of next week". Any input will be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the announcement.
It is nice to know that anyone that now purchases the
Technical Communication Suite 1.3 as an upgrade will get Adobe
Acrobat 9 Pro Extended for the same price I paid in October 2007
for the Tech Comm Suite with Adobe Acrobat 8. Had I only waited
until this month to purchase the Technical Communication Suite I
too would have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat but alas, I will
have to spend an additional $300US to upgrade to TCS 1.3. Which
means I will have paid 30% more for the TCS than anyone purchasing
it now.
Sometimes it just does not pay to be an early adopter of a
product and have to go through the pain of wondering why RoboHelp 7
was so slow (among other bugs)...but I digress.
I understand you likely have nothing to do with the pricing,
but I felt I had to say something.
