I testing GG on my Laptop

Hi ,
I am having Oracle 11g installed on Laptop with Windows 7.
I have installed two GG on separate directories . The Managers are running on port 7809 and 7810.
I have only one database with Two Schemas Ravi and DAMS.
My Source schema is DAMS. The Extract param file is as below :
EXTRACT extora
USERID ggs, PASSWORD ggs
DISCARDFILE D:\Downloads\GoldenGate\da_appl.dsc, PURGE
RMTHOST USER-PC, MGRPORT 7810
RMTTRAIL D:\Downloads\RemHost\dirdat\aa
TABLE DAMS.DA_APPL;
I registered the above in source GG as ADD EXTRACT EXTORA, SOURCEISTABLE
On the Target my Replicate is as below :
REPLICAT INITREP
ASSUMETARGETDEFS
DISCARDFILE D:\Downloads\RemHost\tcustmer.dsc, PURGE
USERID ggs, PASSWORD ggs
MAP DAMS.DA_APPL, TARGET RAVI.DA_APPL
WHERE (trunc(creation_date) >to_date('31-DEC-2008','DD-MON-YYYY'));
IGNOREINSERTS
MAP DAMS.DA_APPL, TARGET RAVI.DA_APPL
WHERE (trunc(creation_date) <=to_date('31-DEC-2008','DD-MON-YYYY'));
I keep getting the below error when I run the extract :
2010-10-14 16:58:00 ERROR OGG-00049 Trails cannot be used when SOURCEISTABLE/SOURCEISFILE is specified.
If i mark the rmttrail then I get the following error :
2010-10-14 17:02:49 ERROR OGG-00362 RMTTRAIL must be specified before FILE/TABLE/SEQUENCE.
I registered the replicate as :
add replicat initrep , specialrun
Thanks & Regards
Ravinder

Hi,
Have you gone through this Metalink Doc ID 1149823.1. If not here it is. They clearly explained the solution for this error in Windows 7.
Symptoms
OS: Windows 2008 or Windows 7
DB: Oracle
Goldengate extract gets following errors:
1. fail to read Oracle online redo logs
(1) Before version 10.4.0.40_001 and 10.0.0.51_001:
2010-01-19 20:51:24 GGS ERROR 190 error (The operation completed successfully.) creating file E:\ORACLE\ORADATA\ORA1022A\REDO01.LOG for sequence 63.
(2) In version 10.4.0.40_001 and 10.0.0.51_001, or later:
2010-01-28 11:41:35 GGS ERROR 500 Error 5 (Access is denied.) opening log file E:\ORACLE\ORADATA\ORA1022A\REDO03.LOG for sequence 79. Not able to establish initial position for begin time 2010-01-28 11:38:38.
2. fail to read SQL server online log
2010-07-12 12:31:47 GGS INFO 285 VAM Client Report <OpenProcess failed to open SQL Server process. GetLastError is 5. Verify connection is to a local instance and that permissions are granted for access to sqlservr process ID 3948.>.
Cause
On windows 2008 or Windows 7, the default permission for Oracle online redo log is changed. Therefore, the other users cannot read them.
Solution
1. install GG service (e.g., "install ADDSERVICE").
The installation will require administrator privilege. After the installation, starting the manager by service (not from ggsci command line). Then, the extract may be started and able to read redo logs. This is the preferred way.
2. Start manager/extract processes as administrator.
Right click 'cmd' program (DOS), select 'run as administrator'. Then starting manager and extract will give the extract the permission to read redo logs.
3. Change online redo log files permission
Add read permission on all the redo logfiles to the user who will start up the manager and extract.
right click the file ->property->security->Edit->add
This may have side effects on database security, and is not recommended in production environment.
Thanks.

  • Dropped My Laptop - Which Tests Should I Run To Assure It's Fine?

Unfortunately I placed my one + a half year old 15" MacBook Pro laptop  on a new tilted notebook cooler (that has no grip), & sat them both  on my computer chair while in use. To my recollection I only had the  YouTube homepage open without any video playing, and Dropbox was  downloading some small photo files to my laptop intermittently (that I  was uploading from my iPhone at the time). I walked away and it suddenly  all fell from a height of 2 feet. When I looked they were both sitting  on the floor. The screen was in the same position I had it in (so it  likely didn't land display first), & the notebook cooler was sitting  to the left of it still connected via USB. I'm not sure that the soft  notebook cooler broke it's fall (see attached photo), but it's crazy how  it all landed flat as of it were being placed side by side on a table.  The usb cord from the cooler didn't even yank itself out at all. My room  is carpeted, but nonetheless I freaked out because it's a fairly new  MacBook Pro, with a brand new 750GB Western Digital Black series 7200rpm  sata hard drive (that I had just installed a couple months ago). The  hard drive is obviously of importance to me since it carries a lot of my  recent project/work files.
Luckily I have the original internal hard drive that initially came with  my system. It contains all of the files I would have had a couple  months back in working order. It's now in an external USB enclosure,  because I had used Carbon Copy Cloner to migrate/backup an exact image  of everything (data & OS) from my original drive, to my newer  Western Digital hard drive - prior to installing it 2 months ago.
The first thing I did was inspect my laptop on the outside. I can tell  you that surprising as it is there is absolutely no damage clear to the  human eye that I can see on the exterior body. From what I've heard the  MacBook Pro shell is actually made out of a solid piece of aluminum. The  hinge when you move the screen still feels the same as it did before  too. I have quite the computer skills background, so I opened the case  up just to give it a glace over with my magnifying glasses headset and a  flashlight. I looked at the motherboard over and over for about an hour  to double, and triple check that there was no damage to the motherboard  (ie: cracks, broken solder, bent usb port that was in use during the  fall, etc). From what I saw there was absolutely no damage to the  important parts of the laptop. I had opened up the case before, and it  looked pretty much the same... The only thing I noticed damaged, were  the 3 screw holes that hold the laptop battery in place (one is under a  black leftside sticker). Such a minor crack on each of the plastic screw  holes (on the plastic battery body, not the aluminum laptop case). They  were very minor cracks yet still in place, you'd have to look closely  to see them. Now I can't remember well, but I think the last time I  opened the case months ago they may have already been like that. & I  may have just left it as they were. If so the damage could have been  caused by over screwing at the factory. I'm not sure, but if not the  fall may have caused it. So I took the battery out and super glued the  screw holes back to the battery body properly (see attached photo). I  could not, and would not disassemble the MacBook Pro motherboard, &  other device pieces for a more thorough check over a 2 foot fall. I just  don't think it's warranted to do so, being that everything else on the  underside seems to be fine to the naked eye. I guess it would be going  overboard...
    A quick factoid:
Apparently my MacBook Pro has a feature called SMS (Sudden Motion  Sensor). The Sudden Motion Sensor is designed to detect unusually strong  vibrations, sudden changes in position, and accelerated movement. If  the sensor detects any of these, it instantly parks the hard drive heads  to help reduce the risk of damage to the hard drive in case of impact.  When the SMS senses that the computer's position is once again stable,  it unlocks the hard drive heads and returns to normal operation. In  general, SMS protection does not change hard disk performance with  regular operation.
Also my new internal Western Digital Black series hard drive  specifically states on their website to having "Rock-solid Mechanical  Architecture." With enhanced reliability features help protect the drive  and the data stored on it. As well as "NoTouch Ramp Load technology" -  The recording head never touches the disk media ensuring significantly  less wear to the recording head and media as well as better drive  protection in transit. Although I don't know if these Western Digital  features apply to normal operating hdd use while powered on, or just  when you have your laptop powered off (eg: parked head position when  shutdown).
I called Western Digital since the hard drive has a 5 year warranty  (unheard of). & I asked them if they had any software to diagnose  the drive beyond Disk Utility's simple "SMART" status info in Mountain  Lion's Mac OS X 10 (which showed up okay by the way). Anyways Western  Digital does have software to do a thorough SMART test, and surface scan  checking for Windows (which I have used before on my other pcs in the  past). But they don't have one for Mac, and he suggested I take the hard  drive out, then pop it in a pc to scan it. But I'm not even sure a pc  would recognize the disk being that it's formatted differently in  comparison to the pc standard of NTFS. I believe he said to reformat it  as NTFS, but that would defeat the purpose of a faster scanning method,  and leaving it as is.
So now what I'd like to do is use a program I found called "TechTool Pro  7." I'll install it to the original hard drive that came with my  MacBook Pro (that's now in my external usb enclosure), and use it to run  every possible scan on my MackBook Pro to make sure everything that  appears to be okay - actually is. But most importantly to run a thorough  SMART test, and surface scan on the newer internal hard drive that  experienced the fall. Since TechTook Pro 7 does have the ability to do  so on any drive. Ya, believe it or not newer Mac's don't have a surface  scan feature in the OS. Remember the external usb hard drive is an exact  1:1 image of my working MacBook Pro a couple months back. So I should  be able to boot off it, and install the program onto it. Of course I'd  be turning off my Wi-Fi during TechTool Pro 7 use, to avoid any  unrelated software updates from other programs while scanning.
I need to run a surface scan on this drive asap, and I will. I'd  appreciate it if you guys would give me general things I should do to  test all of my laptops hardware to determine if everything is alright or  not. Let me know what type of things I should use to test all of the  internal laptops hardware. Let me know what to look for... & how I  should go about using my laptop for the next month or so. I will  probably be doing tests on it every two weeks just to make sure it's  okay until Spring hits. If everything is fine then, well it should be  good for the long term - and have survived the impact well enough.
Thank You Apple Forum Users & Happy New Year
    P.s.
If anybody knows what type of drop tolerance a hard drive can take (and  survive) while in use let me know. Also I did come up with a couple of  things on Google that supposedly can help. One is Apple Diagnostics, and  the second is called Apple Hardware Test. If you Google them they'll  come up, but I have no idea if these are for desktop style Mac's only or  laptops too since they don't mention the word laptop. See here for a  quicker view:

in the future, buy this, this is what the Pros use:
for drops, accidents, spills, loss, or theft, purchase a TYPE of insurance called "inland marine insurance"
roughly $30 per year for a device(s) with 0 deductible, used same for over 20 years, same insurance the pros use on their portable devices.
very cheap, very useful insurance, most people dont know about same.

  • Need to run a hardware test on MBP4,1, 17" OS 10.5.8 w/out disc?

I have a macbook pro with the following specs:
    - 17inch macbook pro 4,1, 2. 5 GHz
    - non-unibody (released sometime in 2008)
    - OS 10.5.8
My battery recently expanded and 'exploded', so i bought a new one (from macsales.com) and replaced it. battery works fine.
    I also upgraded my RAM: from 2GB to 6GB (1 x 2GB, 1 x 4GB).
    I have two issues now:
    1) I have a birdlike chirping sound that occurs randomly and not often. I had similar sounds prior to my battery expanding and going bust. However, now that I've bought a new battery, I have a concern that it might be something else in the hardware.
    2) I would like to upgrade my OS to mavericks; but first, I understand that i have to upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6) before upgrading to anything.
I would like to know the following:
    a) I would like to run a hardware test to diagnose it and find out what the sounds are from and also a general check up before i actually upgrade OS.
However, I don't have my installation discs because I moved country and it was a long time ago.
How can i run a hardware test and check my laptop without a disc?
    b) since i'm not in the US, how can i buy the Snow Leopard? is there an option for buying when outside of the US? I can't seem to find it.
    thanx for your help

I am using firefox 4 and i can see difference in the laptop and the lcd. The site looks fine with firefox 3.6 for both and also for all the browsers. Only for firefox 4, things are getting screwed in laptop, as it looks fine for the LCD.
You can see this link as an example.

Even the footer doesnt shows the css in laptop, but the same is fine for LCD.
NOTE: I have tested this on most laptops.

  • New HDD Test and SMART Errors

I have two brand new Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB harddisks.  To check the drives before using them, I ran `badblocks -b4096 -w -s -v` on both drives.  No errors.
    I then checked `smartctl -a`
The first disk has the following entry:
    191 G-Sense_Error_Rate FLAG:0x0022 RAW_VALUE:1
The second disk has the following entry:
    200 Multi_Zone_Error_Rate FLAG:0x002a RAW_VALUE:2
The raw values for both drives were 0 before I started the test.
The drives have just 15 power on hours.  Should I be concerned about the attribute error count?  Any suggestions on other tests to run to further check the reliability of the new drives?

    Hi Dunsin,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue smart test failed in your Laptop.
As the HDD is faulty you have to replace the hard drive take a data backup. Recovery disc is available in the service center, if the recovery is performed only the operating system is will be freshly installed but the data will be lost hence please take a data backup.
    Best regards,

  • Internal sound card suddenly not recognized (laptop and desktop)

    Both systems run Arch.
A week or so ago, my laptop decided to forget that it had an internal sound card... the bluetooth headset and usb sound card still seem to work just fine... but the built in card has disappeared from the system completely.  This morning, I was listening to shoutcast on my desktop when I left the room... I come back to complete silence and vlc (which had been playin shoutcast) was no longer running.  So, I started to play some local music via Rhythmbox... no sound... I open my mixer, the internal sound card is gone!  The only instance I can seem to find it is if I run Alsamixer via the commandline (have not tested this on the laptop yet, was planning to troubleshoot that before the end of the week).  What information do you guys need to help me figure out why my soundcards have suddently gained amnesia?  again, ALL external cards on both systems work just fine (listening to shoutcast on a USB sound card at this very moment on the desktop)...

The card is still not readable directly on the computer? Can you write to the card and read from it with the computer? What about with another device?
You need to determine if the problem is the BlackBerry or the card. If you can read the card or write to it with another device, that suggests the card. You should also try a known good card in the BlackBerry.
If the card is the problem, you could try repairing and recovering files with the computer first, and then format the card and test. If the problem continues or returns, get a new card.

  • Laptop can't locate my C6180 on the network.

I completed a full factory reset to my HPG60t-600.  I tried to use the setup disc that came with the printer but received a "non supported" message.  So then I downloaded and ran the HP printer installation tool (HPPIW).  My printer is connected to the network as verified by its screen confirmation and Network Test Report.  My laptop is connected to the network (as verified by my ability to enter this forum),  However, the computer is unable to locate the printer on the network.  I am using MicroSoft 7 - 64 bit and printer will work when connected to the laptop with a cable.

It most certainly does explain why one wouldn't be able to see others, if it's not configured as part of a workgroup or the automounter isn't running, this single machine will not be able to mount on demand, those shares which are advertised on other hosts.
Macs are not complicated and as I see by your signon, you know something of a root account. I would think you'd feel right at home on a mac under it's covers I myself have been a real Unix sysadmin for 18 years and played on all types of enterprise hardware, believe me, Macs are easy to fiddle with. Most of the time, when someone can't see other machines using the network browser,it's because some tool disabled NFS. Check your /etc/hostconfig for the automounter line and also check in the /Library/StartupItems and make sure NFS gets hit when the box starts.
I know if I kill my automounter, all the network mounting stops.

  • Speed Issue On My Laptop

    Hi,
Been doing speed tests everyday since i've had infinity, we were quoted 28 meg by the engineer and first day we got it, i tested it on my laptop, woohoo 24 meg but ever since then its been about 9-15 meg while my mums has been 24 meg constantly.
I dont understand this normally im quite savvy with computers, could it be that she was connected to the router first? Or could it be a firewall or antivirus as i have Mcafee and she uses norton?
I cant think of anything else that could be slowing my connection down? Any other thoughts?
P.S i cant find my ethernet cable to test it wired but as i said ive had 24 meg on my laptop before so its a clear issue with my laptop.

Glad your happy with your speed again.
Just in case your on wireless g..... you will probably get faster using wireless n assuming your IP is higher than 24Mb.
Get your IP from the FTTC test here,- http://www.speedtester.bt.com/
Some info on how to identify if you have wireless g or n here http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?p=53169846&highlight=#post53169846
I found I was only getting 20Mb with wireless g and then fitted one of these http://www.shop.bt.com/products/edimax-wireless-n-150mbps-mini-usb-adapter-625C.html#reviews into my USB socket and my laptops speed increased dramatically.

  • M550 Not detected by Laptop at all

Hi all, I have a problem that I hope you can help me with:
Yesterday I received a brand new M550 240gb and a USB powered drive caddy.
My plan was to clone my HDD onto the SSD which will then become my primary disk in the laptop. This is fine for my use and I therefore don't wish to do a fresh install at this stage.
I followed the instructions regarding inserting the SSD into the caddy (very straightforward) and then proceeded to plug it into my laptop. The LED on the caddy lit up, but that is as much as I got.
The laptop has not recognised the SSD at all, either through initialisation, listed drives under My Computer or within the BIOS.
My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-NW24S running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. I have downloaded an updated Sony Shared Library application and updated Intel Chipset drivers all to no avail, the drive is still not recognised at all.
At the moment I do not have access to another computer to check to see if the drive is recognised on that.
I have searched long and hard, both here and the wider internet with no luck. I have read that my BIOS may need updating, but I am really struggling to find any updated BIOS downloads for my model, even on the Sony support site.
Can you help/give me guidance at all on both getting the drive recognised and also if you may have any ideas regarding updating the BIOS(if this would help)?
    Thanks all in advance!

    - What is the SSD part number printed on the sticker (starting CT):CT1024M550SSD1
    - What Firmware version is printed on the sticker on the drive?MU01
    - Have you upgraded this and if so, what is the current version?I have not upgraded
    - What specific issues are you having? When using the drive from a USB3 caddy, it works fine. Once installed in my laptop, a Fujitsu H730, the BIOS does not detect the drive properly. I say "properly" because from a cold boot, it will be listed in the BIOS but is not actually usable. After a warm reboot, the drive never appears in the BIOS setup page.
    - Tell us of any troubleshooting steps you have attempted prior to contacting us:
I have tested in an old laptop (works fine) and with a caddy (works fine).
    - When did the problems first occur?
When I moved my SSD from my old laptop, where it worked fine, into my new one.
    - The exact system or motherboard model the SSD is used in: From lshw in Linux:

    - Have you tried it in another system?
Yes, and it works fine. But this Fujitsu is very, very new and I wonder whether your SSD properly supports its BIOS? Fujitsu inform me that I have the latest BIOS.
    - Operating system:
Ubuntu Linux, but the OS can never detect the drive when installed internally as the BIOS itself cannot. I have managed to boot my OS from the drive when it is connected via USB3 however, but this is not practical.
    - Have you tried different SATA cables and ports on the motherboard (Desktop users only)?
    N/A
    - What BIOS SATA mode are you using (IDE/ AHCI/ RAID)?
AHCI, but I've tried all modes offered by my BIOS setup.

  • Daqcard 6036e affected by laptop power supply?

    Hello NI types;
I have a problem that seems pretty bizarre to me, so I thought I would share it with you to see if anyone has any suggestions.
I have a brand new Daqcard-6036E (pcmcia card), with shielded cable and the CB-68LPR terminal block, and I'm trying to use it with a Sony Vaio laptop (PCG-955A) with Windows XP professional. Labview 7, full installation with all the recommended drivers from the Labview 7 cdroms (didn't install anything from the 6036E cdrom, since I figured the stuff on the LV7 disc was probably more current anyway).
The card is recognized by MAX, Labview, etc. I can bring up the test panels no problem. I measure in differential mode, -10v to 10v range, I'm using the proper terminal pairs for the differential mode (aich0 + aich8 for diff1, etc). Problem is, regardless of what I put in for an input (I've used a little dc voltage supply, and bridging the terminals with a wire to enforce 0V) I get garbage not even resembling the proper input. It does random fluctuations all the way up to the input limits (-10/10 V). I measure with a meter and everything looks great at the terminals. I don't have any other terminal block connections (no connections from AIGND's, AO, timers, etc).
Here's the weirdness: the setup works just perfect... as long as I'm running the laptop off the battery and not using the power supply plugged into the wall. This was really, really annoying to try and find (pulling out the power supply to the laptop was the last thing I tried after fussing with it for a couple of hours). Battery only: reads correct voltages, nice and stable. Laptop power supply: reads completely incorrect fluctuating voltages.
I checked that I was trying to read differential mode (in MAX, and my labview stuff I've written), and I have no idea what to try next. I've used NI stuff for years (LV2,4,5, Nubus cards on macs, pci cards on pcs and macs) but I've never had an opportunity to use a pcmcia card before. I've never seen this behaviour on any other setup I've worked on.
I have a few suspicions: laptop power brick (which plugs in on the same side of the laptop as the pcmcia cage) isn't really nice 19.6 V dc @ 3A like the back of the brick says (have not verified this), maybe bizarre ground loop problems (I get this problem even with no external sources hooked to the CB-68LPR, just the differential inputs connected together on the channel). Maybe the power supply brick makes rf interference that annoys the card (I tried moving the brick farther away with no difference). Maybe Sony just doesn't like me.
As a dumb test, I ran the laptop's power brick plugged into a 120v inverter running off a 12V car battery (ie - 12Vdc -> 120Vac -> 19.6 V dc -> laptop) and that made no difference (still didn't wdfdfork). My other thought is to try and run the laptop directly off a regulated dc supply fed by a 24V battery setup, but that'll take me a little while to assemble to test.
Any thoughts on this? Sadly I do not have a second laptop to try this all in to see if that rectifies things. Has anyone else encountered this?
I hope I haven't left out a salient detail. If I forgot to mention something relevant please ask.
    Best regards,
    Steven Cogswell

    Hello Ben and others;
Indeed, you hit the nail on the head, except it was the other way around. I hadn't taken notice of it before, but this laptop (which isn't mine) doesn't even have a 3-prong plug on the adapter in the first place, only 2-prong (the cord/brick have no facility for a 3rd either, and it's the original sony adapter). I ran a connection from the AIGND (AIGND/AOGND/DGND on this card are all the same point according to the manual) to the 120v ground (3rd prong) and sure enough, everything cleans up and voltages are correct again.
And a small note for those taking notes, although I said the laptop is a "PCG-955A" (that's what's on the bottom), it's actually a Vaio FX120 (written in tiny print on the screen bezel).
    Thanks for all you
    r help,
    Steve

  • Linux vs. linux-ck power usage - laptop users please post your results

Krum reported are rather significant increase in power consumption when using the linux-ck kernel vs. the linux (stock ARCH) kernel.
krum wrote:With the last ck i7-avx, I jump from 10W (stock arch) to 15W on my laptop with the same kernel options and same usage.
I will investigate further another time...
I began to wonder just how universal this was so I tested on my own laptop (Intel T9400 @ 2.53 GHz, NVidia FX, 2x2 GB, SSD and 17" screen) booted into three different kernels, ARCH, ck-generic, and ck-core2 with the latter two downloaded from my unofficial repo.  I took two readings per kernel.  The first was measured with powertop on battery after letting it settle for a good 3 min of idle.  The second was with the battery removed and on AC power measured with a Kill-A-Watt.  My results indicate no significant differences.
    linux-3.0.3-1
    Powertop: 37.5
    Kitt-A-Watt: 41
    linux-ck-3.0.3-4
    Powertop: 38.6
    Kitt-A-Watt: 41
    linux-ck-core2-3.0.3-4
    Powertop: 37.5
    Kitt-A-Watt: 40
Can others running both kernels do a similar analysis with powertop and post the results here?

    Hi,
I did my test with powertop.
    I got also higher temp:

My bad, I forget to had these kernel boot option: pcie_aspm=force i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1 i915.lvds_downclock=1
So it seems to be OK, I will do new powertop test when my battery will be full.

  • Blue Screening - after rebuild ran hardware test - results

    Hi All
I just ended up with this error message. Have recently rebuilt again after numerous bluescreen / bootfail occurrences.
My warranty is up but I'm mostly curious to know if replacing the hard drive would likely 'solve' my problems.
All other tests were successful. Laptop is 18 months old and admittedly has had relatively heavy hard drive usage next to normal home laptops (saving, alterations, statistical analysis files, repetitive partitioning to install ubuntu in serial etc).
    Thanks
    Alex
