I uninstalled bootcamp but when my MacBook Pro starts up, I still have to press "alt/option" when the screen goes grey. Otherwise, a black windows screen pops up. What am I doing wrong?

At one point in time, I believe I had attempted to install bootcamp on my MacBook Pro. My university support center said that I had to press "alt/option" when starting up everytime, otherwise it would be a black windows screen and I had no idea where to go from there. (So I never was able to fully utilize the Bootcamp application. Unfortunately, even after I uninstalled bootcamp, this is still happening. How do I fix this? Thank you.

You should have asked us and looked at 10 posts a week -- same as yours.
OS X: System Preferences: Startup Disk control panel
Set and done!
x = Mac OS X on startup also
And no to needing to hit Option every time. Obviously they never actually booted and used Mac.
All it was is the startup parameter was saved and still set to look for a partition that does not exist and got lost.
ZAP PRAM is also helpful but you would still use Startup Disk.
About This Mac.... More... will also take you to control panels (why System Prefs if they are control panels? to be different?) as well as S.P. from the Dock
