I upgraded from 3.6 and could not get the orange Firefox button but only a grey one with misaligned commands. When I hit View/Menu Bar even this button has vanished and the screen resembles 3.6

I use Win7 on a desktop PC. I upgraded Firefox 3.6 to 4.0. Where there should have been the orange firefox button was a grey button 'Firefox' with a small arrow. on clicking this the commands were there, but not properly aligned. There was also no minimise/maximise/exit buttons on the top right of the screen. I checked 'Help' and found no info. I then turned on View/Menu Bar. The minimise/maximise/exit buttons appeared; the grey button vanished and the screen now resembles FF 3.6. However About tells me that I am using 4.0.
BTW, I also tried various Beta versions in 2010 and abadnoned them because the same problem happened.

Are you using a custom theme (Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes) ?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

- Did the other users who successfully connected have iDevices?
- Frequently you have to open Safari/a browser and agree to the terms and conditions of the wifi spot before yo can get to the internet. Some wifi spots use Flash or Java to log on which the iPod (and other iDevices) do not support)
- Have you tried resetting network settings: Settings:General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Does you Ipod successfully connect at home?.

If it's stopping during the movie that could be network related. As for locating the rental, try logging out of your account and signing back in again.

Trash the preference files while application is NOT Running.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
• Create a new User-Account
• Log out of Your old one and into this
• Re-try iMovie
If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.

Just bought Apple TV and could not get it to work with my iTunes.

iTunes can't find Apple TV. Tried reinstalling iTunes and even went disconnect ATV, router and modem...restarted my Mac pro. Still did not work! Changed my router channel and checked my config as well....
ATV is able to work with the trailers and radio including UTUBE. What is wrong with iTunes?

If you want to restore the previously used standalone window to manage search engines then you can toggle this pref to false with a middle-click on the about:config page.

Lost puchased books and could not get them back

I purchased books from Ibooks store a while back.
After I synced my ipad with another computer, i could no longer download some of the previously purchased books. When I contact customer service, they say that when books are withdrawn from publisher, they cannot be recovered? then what is the point of buying the e-books?
Also those books are still available for sale in iBook store. This is really sad.

Update to the latest version of the iPad soft ware then open the iBookstore. The go down to the purchased. Then click not on this iPad all the books you have bought that aren't on ur iPad will appear there.

DBUS doesn't start - Could not get UID and GID for username

Today i installed Archlinux in other of my systems, but i have a problem. I installed the last dbus (dbus 1.4.16-1) and i putted it in my rc.conf:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng @network crond dbus alsa)
but it doesn't start.
The error is:

So, i don't know what happen. In my other systems, i don't have any problem, only with this fresh install.

the problem wasn't spotted until trying to set up NetworkManager and lightdm.
useradd and groupadd owned by shadow (4.1.5-4), it wasn't installed before dbus-core and avahi needed them though. not sure how install environment works, does it rely on installed version or installer versions?

[Solved] mythtv-setup DVB (could not get card info/No such device)

I'm building a new Arch server which will replace my existing mythtv backend using a HP microserver. Other than my old machine not being updated in some time, the only difference is new box is 64bit. I have 2x Sony PlayTV USB DVB's and have left one plugged into each system.

Edit: I should add that I did a trial install of Ubuntu 12.04, upto date as of few days ago and it worked perfectly though I didn't note down what kernel version (was 64bit). Nothing has changed hardware wise.

It seems to affect dvb usb devices. I didn't see any evidence of this patch http://patchwork.linuxtv.org/patch/13563/ in current kernels, but it may have been rewritten. I haven't had to change my card setup and don't have usb tuners, so I haven't hit this problem.

I did stumble upon the femon thing at some point but I didn't see any explanation for it and all my googling for femon resulted in a plugin for VDR which totally had me stumped. After your post a tried a slightly different google string and found it was in the linuxtv-dvb-apps package. In hindsight a "pacman -Qo femon" would have given me the answer...

Could not get application item data

Hi,
On my login page I set the data to 3 application items, (id, email, and domain) and if I see at the session link on other pages the data appears ok.
The problem is getting that data, I tried on a process on some pages.
:p101_user_id := :GLOBAL_USER_ID;
also
:p101_user_id := v('GLOBAL_USER_ID');
and could not get the data. The local items are always null, maybe I miss something.

You're process should work (both of the syntax's are valid), the only reason I can think of as to why it shouldn't is the process point of the page process. This process should be one of the 'On loads', not one of the 'On Submits'.

Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
