I use fastone capture a lot; recently it stopped working with firefox; can this be fixed?

Fastone has worked fine for me in firefox for a long time but recently stopped working. When I try to select an area of the screen that contains an image I want to save, the browser screen disappears and is replaced by a blank white screen. I deleted and reinstalled the program but no change. It works fine with windows explorer so I think it has to do with firefox.

So I went back to Firefox 3.6.17 and Faststone 4.5 (a combination that worked great with Faststone for a long time) and I still have the problem, i.e., click on the "define a rectangular area to capture" option in Faststone and the screen turns while. So I think it is not the versions of FF or FS that I am using but something else. Cannot think of any changes I made to the system in the time frame when the problem occurred. Have tried FireShot, as listed in the prior answer, and find it much harder to use than Faststone. Again my thanks to all who have responded.
