I've changed my CDN - how do I get iTunes to draw from the new CDN instead of the old?

The DNS has been changed but iTunes doesn't seem to get it!

I have no idea exactly how the Store operates, but as far as subscribers are concerned Apple isn't involved. Once you've subscribed to a feed, your iTunes application uses your computer's internet facilities to call the media files, and it can only do that from the URLs contained in the feed. This URL then goes to your ISP's domain name servers (or whatever you might be using instead such as Open DNS if you go for that sort of thing) and is converted to IP numbers to connect to the media files. So if the wrong set of files is being called, it's because any one individual's DNS servers haven't caught up.
All that said, I don't know enough about server technology (we're way outside making podcasts here) to know whether when you change the IP number associated with a domain you have to take steps to make sure the information propagates. It sounds as if you know more about that than I do.
Looking up cdn.traintalk.tv in Network Utility produces this result:

That's using Virgin Media's DNS server; I don't know whether this tells you anything useful. Using traceroute I got

You don't need to do anything. iTunes will automatically recognise different devices as different devices. Just plug it in.
You can rename the device by clicking the name in the side panel in iTunes for your own identification purposes, but this name does not matter to iTunes.

New URL, how do I get iTunes to point to my new feed

We are in the process of redesigning our webpage. We purchased a new domain name and changed our webhost. Our new website is www.calvarybible.com. I am wondering how to get iTunes to point to my new feed. It is all the same content just at a new URL. I have sent a few messages via "report a concern", but have not seen any response.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I set up the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag. When I updated my podcast in iTunes it found the new feed. I should have read the specifications better.
We will be sending the old domain name to the new URL soon, so I am glad I got this done as it says to keep the old feed for at least 48 hours. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

How do I get firefox to open a pdf in adobe instead of the new pdf reader?

Before the recent update, 19.0, I would google something and see [PDF] next to a link. I click the middle mouse button to open it in a new tab. Firefox would download the file and open it with Adobe Reader. I like this.
With the new update 19.0, the pdf file would be opened in the new tab. I have to go and down load it and then open it in Adobe. I don't like this.
I go into preferences under applications. I look to see if I can change this. Next to Adobe Reader document, I choose Use Adobe Reader, but when I click on a [PDF] link, it still opens the file in Firefox and not Adobe.
I want it back to the way it was.

You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer and use the Adobe Reader instead.

How do I get iTunes to match what is actually on PC? (some old songs remain)

I deleted a bunch of songs on my PC. They are gone for good, as I emptied my Recycle Bin. ........But iTunes still keeps these files in the Library. How do I get iTunes to clean-up the Library?
If you click on the deleted songs it can't find the song, obviously. So why does iTunes keep teh file?

iTunes does not retain the files, what you are seeing is the library database.
Here is how you can reomve them.
Using a playlist to collect dead tracks.
Create new regular playlist – Playlist1
Select whole library and *drag* to Playlist1
Create new Smart Playlist with the rule: Playlist is not Playlist1
Live updating checked – after you run it, uncheck live updating or you may not be able to delete tracks.
This playlist should contain all the dead tracks
Use shift-del to remove from library
This method may not work if your lirbary is very large.

How do you get Itunes to sync an album that exists only on the iPad?

Easy enough to sync iTunes albums to the iPad, but how about albums that currently exist only on the iPad? How do you get iTunes to import photo albums it doesn't currently know about? For example I have an app that saves it's files to an album called 'Saved'. I want iTunes to make a local computer copy during 'sync'. I was transferring files from the iPad to the computer via WiFi, but at least on my iPad, WiFi is extremely unreliable, often dropping the connection during data transfers. I finally gave up and decided to do this via USB until Apple gets their act together.

If you are transferring photos from iPhoto on your Mac, you mean the iPhoto albums that are available to select under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences? if so, this is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPad.
iTunes does not handle the import of photos from your iPad, which can include photos imported from a digital camera or from a digital camera's storage card with the Camera Connection Kit, or a photo saved from a received email, from a website, or by a 3rd party app that is capable of saving a photo in the same location.
It sounds like the app developer has allowed for transferring photos saved by the app in the app's "Saved" area to your computer via an available wi-fi network that both your computer and iPad are connected to. Unless the app developer allows for saving the photos from the app's "Saved" area to the same location where a photo saved from a received email or from a website is stored, there is no way to import these photos via iPhoto or the Image Capture application on your Mac, which is used for importing photos, not iTunes.

I am installing an SSD in the Optical Dirve of my MacBook Pro 2012 and was wondering how to change the start up disk to the new SSD instead of the HDD and when i do it will it install Yosemite on the SSD?

When copying Itunes to an external drive, how do I get iTunes to feed from the file on the external drive and not the computer/

I've already copied my iTunes folder onto my external hardrive. I'm having problems getting iTunes to pull the information from the external hardrive and not the computer's internal one, though. Any suggestions on how to get it to work?

iTunes works off of an ITL file in the iTunes folder
instead of dragging the folder out of the external hardrive and onto the desktop just do this
-hold shift key and double click iTunes to open it up
-you will get a prompt asking to create a new library or choose library, click choose library
-an explorer window will open up and you are going to navigate to the external hard drive and open the iTunes folder
-in the iTunes folder you are going to find a file that doesn't look like a folder but a page with a corner folded on it that is your iTunes library file
-double click the iTunes library file and your library will appear and you are good to go
WARNING: this is a good method for making sure your music doesn't take all of your computer's storage but keep in mind if you remove the external hard drive from the computer you may have issues accessing the library example next to the song titles

How do I get Item Level text from PO ME21N Prior To Saving The PO?

I saw this asked a few times but no solution so I will ask again.
Imagine that you are creating a PO in ME21N. You have some Header Level Text and then imagine you have 2 items in this PO. Each of these two items has Item Level Text.
Once a PO is saved, I know how to use Read_Text to get the texts for the header and items. You simply pass which text you want (ex. F01) the PO number and the language and it returns the texts for the header. For item level you combine PO number and Item number you want in the Name parameter of Read Text (example 112233445500010) then tell it which text you want (ex F01) and that is how it knows which item you want the text for.
However: When the user is first creating the PO, they want to see how it will look in printing but prior to actually saving the PO. They dont want to save the PO until they know how it will print with Print Preview.
I was very surprised that the print preview actually worked for the Header Texts prior to saving. I debugged Read_Text and see that when it sees no PO number passed, it simply supplies the text (F01) and the language and pulls it out of an FM READ_CATALOG which I am assuming is memory. In theory, you will only have one F01 text at the header level and it makes sense to me that it is able to retrieve that.
BUT: My Item Level Texts are not returning anything. It makes sense to me as well because you cannot simply tell it give me the F01 texts you see because if you have multiple items, you will have multiple F01 texts, one for each item number if you put text to each item.
How can I get the item level texts out before saving the PO? Since the PO is not saved yet, there is no PO number and nothing is stored in STXH and STXL. Where are the texts stored and how can I retrieve them? I tried passing just the item number but as expected it still returned nothing.
Any ideas?

Ok I figured it out. I will add this for anyone else that may have this issue.
The short version is that just like header level texts, item level texts that have not yet been officially saved to the PO are stored in a catalog. If you were to debug READ_TEXT you will see that it will look in the catalog to see if there is an entry there for the corresponding texts (ex F01, F02 etc).
For header texts, you simply pass the language and which text you want without the PO number and it will return header texts.
Item level however you have to specify which line item you want plus which text and then the language.
During debugging if you debug Read_text and go to the FM READ_CATALOG you will see the following:
READ TABLE CATALOG WITH KEY CATALOG_KEY.
Load the table Catalog into the debugger and see how it stores them.
In one solution I read on this forum it said to use 10 zeros and then your item number.
Mine was stored with 10 spaces, not zeros. Loaded 10 spaces plus the item number and it returned my text with READ_TEXT.

How do I get Itunes to play my TV programmes continuously and shuffle the series'?

I have 3 Series' of The Big Bang Theory and as i have the laptop hooked up to my TV, i would like to be able to just put them all in a playlist and press shuffle, but it only ever plays one then stops. Well...no one's going to take advantage of the authorization, and you're allowed a max of five authorizations. Once you reach five, you can deauthorize all and then authorize only those you need. Unless you've reached your max, I wouldn't worry about it.

How do i get itunes to read from an external harddrive without transfering it all on to the computer

I have 1.5 terrabytes of movies on an external hard drive. my internal hard drive is only 1 terrabye. Every time I try to link my movies it starts to transfer everything back to the internal. is there a way to make it read just movies (music is on the internal) on the external, without duplicating it all on to my mac?

Hold down the option key while dragging items to the iTunes window. This will override iTunes copying the media to its media folder and simply add it in its current location. There can be disadvantages to this, particularly when the day comes you wish to relocate items to a new external drive. You will have to re-add those items to the library again, losing things such as ratings, playcount, etc.

That link only seems to give advice if you have your music on your computer's hard drive and you want to transfer it all to another drive. My problem is that all of my music is currently on an external drive. There is nothing to transfer or consolidate from my computer. I've gone into the preferences and set the iTunes music folder to the location on my external drive. The part about consolidating doesn't seem applicable in my case. So now that I've set the location of my iTunes music folder why isn't anything showing up in my iTunes library? Why can't I play any music?

So have any of this "external" music ever been added to iTunes? If not, go to File>Add to Library. Then navigate to the external hard-drive folder that contains the music.
