I've just installed OS X to my old iMac, (early 08). I'm trying to run a software update and it keeps failing mid update. Message is that internet connection may have failed, retry.
I've tried several times and get the same error message.
any suggestions?
If you are connected via wifi is connecting via ethernet cable an option - at least just while you try to do the update?

I have just just installed a new version of itunes. When i tried to run the new version it came up with the message "The file ituneslibrary.itl cannot be read because it was created by newer version of itunes.
I installed the new version because itunes had not recognised my ipod nano 5G, and told me to reinstall. Itunes selected which version to install, so I don't understand what is going on. To add insult to injury it installed a pile of malware which I am still trying to get rid off.

Go through the below link to Remove iTunes and all its components from your computer first and then Re-install fresh copy of iTunes on your computer.

Im trying to install windows 7 in on my macbook pro, i thought it just install like intel based PC, so i use windows 7 DVD, i format the harddisk, and installation failed. When i reboot, OS X is missing, because i've format my harddisk. So what should i do to make my MBP is with windows 7

Guys, I been in the business working on PC and MAC for years. So I am not green at this, I was looking for some kind of option to get past the boot loader.. Which is failing.
I know how to boot into these modes.. Done tons of research before posting and couldn't find anything.
It will not go into Internet Recovery, or any thing else. I hear the sound .. then that is it.. I get nothing else..
I have tried clearing the NVRAM which is Option + Command + P + R
Still nothing..
So I thought I would try here to see if maybe there was some trick out there someone might know of that would work.

Shut down and reboot your iOS (press and hold the wake/sleep button and when prompted, slide to poweroff and then press and hold the wake/sleep button to reboot).
Go look what had happen with your apps. Maybe it's ok. If not, tap and hold its icon and then tap the X to delete it from your iOS device and redownload it from the app store (no charge for that).

Just installed adobe iplayer for the umpteeth time.
Then decided to have a software update immediately on my mac.
Then a small screen appeared afterwards stating maleware virus removed.
What do I do now? Was not aware that I had a virus in the first place.That latest update is a removal tool for the Flashback trojan.
One of the ways the earlier versions of that trojan were distributed was through fake Adobe Flash downloaders.
Why are you repeatedly installing Adobe Flash Player? (not iPlayer - that's a BBC thing.)
The only place from which to get the Flash Player plug-in is directly from Adobe themselves - Never Trust a Pop Up that says you have a missing plugin!
Also be aware that the Flash Player is not a standalone player; it's a plug-in which installs in the Library and is available for all the browsers to use.
As for what you do now?
Nothing for the moment - you should be clear.
But to be on the safe side, go to the Prefences for each of your browsers and disable Java (not JavaScript - that's a whole different animal). As Java is the vector used by the most recent versions, that should ensure you don't get reinfected. -
After installing 10.9.3 computer won't recognize Canon SD 1200 IS camera: get message "a camera was not detected". Any suggestions?
I have an older Kodak which they have stopped supporting and I have to take out the SD card and put it in the card slot to download pictures. I read other threads where this solved similar problems for others. Some have a separate card reader but I just use the one on my imac. Wish it was more convienent to get to it though.

I have just downloaded ML. I can get my email via iCloud, but I can't get it on MAIL 6.0. I have done the JAVA thing--seems to be OK. MAIL 6.0 on my desktop won't sync with Mobile Me and won't download emails. Any suggestions?

It's likely that the new drive isn't working, or it wasn't installed correctly, or you had some other hardware fault rather than a bad drive.

I've ordered a new mac book pro 15" and i need to clean hard drive off my old PC...not really to move them to the mac, but just to save in case needed; mostly pics and office docs....any suggestions?
Buy an external USB hard drive and copy your data to it. Either that or burn them all to single or double layer DVDs (depending on amount of data you have). Or if it's really a small amount, consider putting it all on a USB memory stick.

when i go to the app store to update the one app that needs to be updated, the screen is blank. It used to list all the apps that need updating and have a button called update all. Now nothing. Just a blank screen. How can I fix this?
There's been a problem with this all day. Seems to be a server problem - wait a day and try again, or use itunes on the computer to update, that works.

maybe its just me but verizon had my rebate for a month and some change and still haven gotten it i got this contract on july 10, and my samsunsung galaxy s4 does nothing but shut off on me constatntly and they wont even help..any suggestions because im looking into a lawsuit now so aggravating..my phone is def on a blank sceen right now

We can help you right here with your phone! How often does it turn off? Is it just that the screen goes black or does it completely power down? Also, does it start back up by itself if it does power down?

There are three steps so make sure you follow all of them. They are:
remove iTunes and everthing related to it
verify everything is really removed
reinstall iTunes. -
Trying to install the new itunes update and it keeps saying error could not install itunes. Currently I am running windows 7. Any advise to fix this problem. This is doing this when installing itunes/quicktime, safari 5, mobileme control panel, and the software update itself. The itunes version is 10.3.1
That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
