I've updated to Adobe XI from formerly having Adobe 10 or 10-something. I'm trying to open a document that continuously tells me to do the install. I'm trapped in a loop. Please help. Thank you.

Can someone help me? Thank you.

This is the response each time I'm trying to view a document after just installing Adobe Reader XI:
"To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html"
Can someone help me please?  Thank you.
