I want to run a step motor and take pressure measurements at steps of 2mm

For a wake survey experiment about an airfoil, I would like to write a Labview VI that would move the step motor at increments of 2mm, take pressure readings (I have the pressure transducer), move another 2mm, take readings etc...for n increments. I have only a small background in labview. Can someone help me please?

If you currently don't have any Motion hardware then you would need a PCI/PXI 7334 FlexMotion controller and a mid-760x drive/amplifier (or another drive/amplifier). Once you have the proper hardware, then you can set breakpoints in Motion to send out a trigger pulse on a digital line when you reach certain predetermined positions in your move. You can route this trigger signal over our RTSI (real time signal integration) bus to your DAQ board to take measurements at these exact instances. You can find out more information on breakpoints including example programs in LabVIEW by searching for Motion and Breakpoints in our developer zone.

actually I don't know in which context you want to use your existing hardware for your stepper motor.
1. The hardware, which you describe, is/was used for which application? ( data acquisition, controlling a system, etc)?
2. Did you buy the hardware especially for the motor application?
3. You don't know how which signals are required for your stepper motor.

Move motor and make a measurement (thorlabs motors and drivers)

Hi everybody,
I was just born in this Labview world and I´m quite lost. I´ll explain my situation:
I have three motors from thorlabs (T-cube Stepper Motor controller) in three directions (x, y and z). What I need is to move the motors from initial position until final position in small steps in order to make measurements in every stop (this is other story). So, the thing is I need to measure one line in x stopping wherever I need, then come back to the initial point, go one line down in y axis and start the line in x again (as many times as neccesary). I think a state machine is what I need for this purpose, but I have no idea.
Could anyone help me with this??
NOTE: the computer is an old xp without internet conection and there is no possibility to install labview packages as NI-DAQmx so I must use the motors nodes and properties that Thorlabs provides.

Times to wait BEFORE a measurement is started is something you have to do manually since it's up to the user.
As far as how long to wait for the measurement to complete, the manual has examples of using registers and buffers to find out when the measurement is complete using a linear sweep (this is how I do it). The idea is to pre-set the buffer equal to the number of datapoints (say 100 over your IV range), instruct what to measure (current, voltage, both), and poll the registers to find out when the buffer is full (say every 100-500 ms). Let the keithley 2400 set the voltages for you over the specified range and return the data set when completed.
As far as knowing when the movement is complete, you'll have to see if there is a way to detect that with your equipment (otherwise stick with the pre-programed delay). IF these are illuminated IV measurements, you could do the following. Source ZERO volts and measure current. check periodically after the movement commands are sent. Once you measure a current, the Jsc for the cell, you have contact.
For data storage, use shift registers on the state machine itself. Clear the register when starting a scan, and insert each measurement as it is taken (2D array, or array of clusters). Another possibility is to use a separate while loop to save the data (a consumer) with the data being passed in a Queue and appended to file after each scan (this will help if you are concerned about failures resulting in lost data). After each measurement, enqueue the data into a queue handled by this consumer. (you'll need to keep track of which file to append data to).

I have been a BT customer for 30 years plus
We have BT broadband and phone
I followed the BT website instructions and in mid July gave BT ample time to transfer our services ( not the number) as moving from Suffolk to Dorset
The first order was cancelled by email but I was encouraged to re-order which I did
This second order was then mysteriously cancelled
I then called BT to order by phone thinking that might be more straightforward but the guy had no idea and the the line was cut
I then went on live chat and the operator said nothing was my fault but it was a "technical issue" and promised that they would sort it personaly till we had a line.. That was a few days ago and nothing heard from then since
I then had another live chat today ( i wanted a record of the conversation) but this time the operator just dissapeared not confirming if our line had been cancelled even at our old addrtess
I dont expect much now from any company now but this service is just absolutely appaling
When I said I might move to another supplier I was told there would be some fees to pay but all i want is a line ( BT preferably) and broadband but such a simple request cannot be dealt with
I have been told now that I will get a line on 1st September ( eventhough I have been promised twice a line would be provided by todays date) but nothing has happened
I dont know is this forum can help but in desperation I thought at least maybe I could be dealing with one BT employee who might be interested and sort this matter

I have several PCs and support many local business owners.
Neither I nor they need the latest gadgets and gizmos - what we all need is stability and security. I always keep all users on versions of code that have passed from bleeding-edge development into their support and maintenance phase.
I am wanting to download the latest release of version 4 (of Firefox) but missed it due to your rapid switch to v5.
I did several searches and could not find it on your site - can I suggest that it should be there to satisfy your supporters who moved from MS IE due to the dreadful security issues - esp. Active-X over your early-years.

Where is the link to the latest releases of Firefox version 3 as that is obviously what I should be using. I always download software (inc. add-ons / extensions) rather than allow automatic update because I can then restore to a known secure and stable release when needed.
Last minor point - I just did a Google search for LTS (and software) as I had never come across the acronym in 35 years of software development - what does LTS expand into?

No. Bootcamp, as you've described, requires rebooting into your chosen operating system. If you want to run both OS X and Windows at the same time from your hardware, look at virtualization tools like Parrallels or VMWare.

Hi,
There shouldn't be any interaction between the two GPIB drivers. The NI interfaces will use NI-488.2, wil the Keithley interfaces will use their low-level device driver. Each driver will manage the their own hardware.
In LabVIEW, you will use the NI-488.2 Vis to communicate with the NI interface. The Keithley driver has to install their own driver interface VIs.
The only problem is you want to use VISA for both interfaces. I don't know if there is a Keithley implementation of VISA, but there can nly be one installed in the system. The NI_VISA driver will allow you to control the NI interface, but not the Keithley interface. You can still use the Keithley interface using the low-level driver.

I did not know whar version of TS you are using so I created the sequence using TS 2.0.
In the example a save the state to the numeric result of a numeric limit step and the step determines that execution is normal if the state is 1, so the step passes, otherwise it fails. The precondition of the next steps use the pass/fail status of the first step. This way you do not need a local variable.

Was on a website when I got a message asking what I wanted to open the application with and I told it Firefox and now it won't open at all.

You should never select Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an open with dialog.
Firefox wouldn't ask this if it can handle the file.<br />

It would harm the PC industry because you wouldn't have to buy one since the Mac can do both. But with only a 128 GB SSD in your rMBP, you may have trouble fitting both on it.

We performed similar transfer of data from one planning model to another using DM package linked to BADI. In your scenario there is additional complexity of doing lookup from DSO and should be possible.

You should be able to just place them in your Books library in iTunes and check to ensure that your Book library is configured to sync to your iPod when you sync your iPod to iTunes.

In this personal scenario, I used a Mavericks (10.9) test hard drive to see what would happen if I updated to 10.10.3. No photos were harmed in the making of this post. I have full redundant back-ups of everything as should you before attempting ANY OS update. There simply is no excuse not to back up and keep your personal data protected in this day and age.
Now that’s out of the way…
If you’re not running Aperture 3.6 (which I believe is only available if running 10.10.2), updating to 10.10.3 will disable any version of Aperture below that and it CANNOT be updated or found on the App Store, or downloaded from anywhere else. Both the Aperture and iPhotos icons in the dock will have a white circle with a line going through it.
If you click to open Aperture, the computer will prompt you to update to the latest version because the current version is not compatible with Yosemite. After you acknowledge that, it sends you the the App Store where you will be met with a message that states “Item not available”. It also no longer appears in your purchase history so you can’t update it from there either!
You’re now forced to use the new Photos app.
Upon it’s it’s first launch, the Photos app will create a new library for itself and migrate/duplicate all Aperture photos into it. Effectively doubling the disc space used by your pictures...
This behavior apparently does not happen going from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3. In this latter scenario, Photos still uses the Aperture library and creates a smaller Photos library migrating only the metadata it seems. The actual photos are still referenced from the Aperture library and you can continue to use Aperture (3.6) if you choose. The libraries are NOT unified though. Changes made in one will NOT be reflected in the other.
In other words, you cannot leap-frog update if you want to continue using Aperture.
