IBook Does not reliably connect to charger

My iBook G4 has problems recognizing that it is connected to the charger. It does not think it is connected and the battery will not charge. With much fidgeting however it will work and charge. I am not sure if this is a software or hardware problem. My best solution right now is to reinstall the OS, currently I am also having a problem printing and think that perhaps a reinstall will fix this. If it is a hardware problem I will probably take it to a local Apple store and try and get it fixed. I have tried cleaning both connections and this did not help.
Thanks a bunch for your time

I'm having the same problem with a brand new charger.
There is no visible damage anywhere and I feel that the cord itself is faulty, as I often have to carefully adjust it, sometimes taking up to an hour.
I'm replacing mine, as I have no spare charger to check with. If that doesn't solve my problem then I'll have to admit there is some damage directly inside the female receptacle and look to take it for repair. (My warranty has long expired and I am not near any Apple store or repair person).
If you don't have another charger plug available to you, like me, and you still are covered, call Apple. They'll provide you with a new wall charger plug as long as their is no physical damage to the plus (bent pin, broken pin, etc.).

Till now my battery has been working perfectly. The machine is about 1 year old and I use it heavily for my work. I prefer to unplug my battery when it's full, and use it till it go's to sleep before plugging it in again. This results in a very high Cycle count (453) but a still perfectly working battery (98% according to CoconutBattery), I can use the machine for about 4 hours on a full battery.
The amperage would be 0 since your battery is not in a charge cycle.
Part of your problem could honestly be your cycle count and method of caring for your battery. If you check some of the research about Li_ion batteries this is the worse way to use it. Li-Ion batteries work best with little charges. Deep cycling Li-Ion can kill the cells. There is no good reason to charge the battery and then use it as you have been doing. This just kills your battery for no reason. The MacBook is designed to cut the charge off when the battery is full and it does not hurt the battery to lie idle like this. The method you're using can prematurely kill your battery.
Either the battery has a problem that is not showing on you readings or the battery circuit is fried. Do you know someone that has a MacBook or live near an Apple store so you can test your battery on a known good MacBook. Or you could try one of their batteries in it.

  • Ibook does not even turn on...

hi. i have an ibook that will not even turn on. it does not even recognize the charger. no sound and no life whatsoever. just wondering of what nature the problem could be. could this be the logic board? hard drive? if something serious, is it worth fixing? i appreciate any and all help..

I've had the same problem a few weeks ago. I tried everything, even a PMU Reset (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449-en). Nothing worked at all. Then, a friend of mine told me to remove the battery and the power supply for at least 72 hours minimum.
After that time I only connected the power supply with the ibook (with no battery inside). Then i pushed the power button as usually. And it started up again. But, i have one of the ibooks (Serial Number between UV117XXXXXX and UV342XXXXXX) with the "logic board failure" and so this can happen again and again when the problem occured once. Now I will try the "Logic Board Repair Extension" (LBRE).

  • HT4060 ipad does not seem to be charge.  has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery photo remains...cannot turn on or off... only low battery photo and apple symbol or blank page appear

ipad does not seem to be charging.  Has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery icon remains same...alternates with apple symbol or blank page.  cannot turn ipad on or off

The iPod Touch kept trying to reboot yesterday but would only show the Apple logo screen then shut off - it finally drained the battery overnight I am guessing. Connected to USB the battery charging icon flashes.
Took it back to Best Buy, but they wouldn't touch it or replace it since it's under warranty.
To any potential buyers - beware. My best advice is to look somewhere besides Apple. Every Mac user I know has had to return a Mac, laptop, etc. Really poor quality control, and the retailers agree (Geek Squad told me they have had the same experience with Apple products).

  • Iphone 4 does not stay connected to my network

Since upgrading to 6.1, my iPhone 4 does not stay connected to my network.  I have to input my password each time I leave my house.  My other devices stay connected, so the issue is with the upgrade.  Has anyone found a way to keep their IPhone connected to their network?  Thanks.

I don't have another phone to try. I took out the sim to check for deffects but it looked fine. Cleaned the sim card with alcohol and cleaned the aim compartment. Phone didn't loose Internet connection all day yesterday, but this morning went to check emails and wouldn't update until I turned airplane mode on then off again.

  • Iphone does not stay connected to wi-fi.

When using apps or when in sleep mode my iphone does not stay connected to my wi-fi. All other items within the house have no issues with staying connected to my wi-fi.

By design, when entering sleep mode, the iPhone will disconnect from WiFi to conserve battery. If you want the WiFi connection to remain persistent, plug your phone into a power source.

  • IPad (3rd generation) does not automatically connect to wi-fi.

iPad (3rd generation) does not automatically connect to wi-fi.  It is fully updated to 5.1.1 but you have to manually connect after turning off and back on.  I also have an iPad 2 with the same OS but it automatically connects.  The wi-fi has no security.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Acrobat does not allow connection to

Need help with this error message please.  Using Win7, saved a Word 2010 table of contents with multiple links to pdf files across internal servers as a PDF.  Also created the word doc w/multiple pdf links as a PDF file using acrobat9 standard and have same problems.   when a user with Adobe Reader 8+ clicks on a pdf link in the PDF table of contents file, they get an error message Acrobat does not allow connection to:   and they cannot open the linked file.  However, I am able to open the files using the same links with both reader and acrobat.
This worked previously until we upgraded to these versions of software... the error message shows a number of % signs and multiple ////.  However, i can open the fiile but others cannot.
anyone have any ideas or is this a fix that i need to download?

not sure where my previous reply went; however, there are numerous machines at varuious sites that will be accessing this server/folder.  I am not sure if it is a trusted sites issue as the file lists numerous PDF links and some of them open to the respective pdf file and others recieve the mssage.  All the files reside on the same server within the same main folder and within subfolders.  never had the problem before.  the users can open some of the linked files and others the connection msg appears.  I however, am able to open the same links they get the error on.  I am totally baffled by this and have been troubleshooting for weeks now.  I just had acrobat X installed to see if that would help but still problem.  I also saved the word doc (2010) as pdf (which lists the links to the other pdfs) but users still have same problem.  there are approx 75 links within this doc and I truly hope we don't have to relink everything..

  • Windows 8.1/IE 11 Does Not Automatically Connect to the Internet

Windows 8.1/IE 11 Does Not Automatically Connect to the Internet
I can't find the dial and redial options anywhere.
I' m connecting through PPPOE but only manual.
I know that in windows 7/8 a program like IE9 or IE10 could connect to the internet, but now it just says that I am not connected to the internet.
How to connect automacally to the internet and how to let IE to connect automatically to the internet, and why I don't have the options for dialing and redialing like in Windows 8?
    Thank You

    Hi,
Sorry for my dilatory reply, what does your mean that IE dialing to connect to internet?  Did your system can connect to Internet? or just IE 11 couldn't connect to internet. you can
check your IE poxy setting in Connections of Internet options.
If you encountered any IE problem, you can try to reset IE for test to resolve this problem.
If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Windows related issue, let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

  • Does not recharge using supplied charger, what is cause?

Does not recharge using supplied charger, what is cause?

Have you tried a different charger and/or cable ? Do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?
Have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Submit PDF Form by Email (does not allow connection)

It's been sometime since I have created a PDF which included a "Submit by Email" button.  I opened the original form and changed the email addresses, saved it, then opened it in Reader.  Whenever I try to submit it by email a "Security Block" window pops up stating "Acrobat does not allow connection to:"  I have tried to call and pay for support but get the run around.  I've searched the web and only found where I need to "Extend the Rights to Reader" which I did to no avail.  I've even rebuilt the form from scratch...nothing.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks....

I created the form first in Microsoft Word, then "printed" it to create a PDF.  I then use Acrobat to create a bunch of fields, and set the form for distribution.
When the user completes the form in Acrobat, and clicks on the "Submit" button, an email is created with the form as an attachment, and the body of the message is this:
Instructions to add this form to a responses file:
    1. Double-click the attachment.
    2. Acrobat will prompt you to select a responses file.
Those are the instructions I was referring to.  The question is, is there any way to change or eliminate those instructions?

  • ERecruiting - Data Overview - "Acrobat does not allow connection to..."

    Hello gurus,
    how is it going?
I'm facing one strange problem in eRecruiting.
We've got customized smartforms for Candidate and Requisition overview.
On Candidate overview we've got part, where URL links of assigned requisitions are shown.
By opening these links, it should open Requisition overview page.
But when I want to open this link, I'm getting popup window, where is written:
"Acrobat Does not allow connection to..."
I've got Acrobat Reader X, I've updated "Trust manager" and "Security (Enhanced)" also in Page preferences.
    But still facing this error.
Could you advice me, how I can solve it?
I've already read many pages on google, but still nothing....
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards, Luke.

    Hi,
    first I have a question:
You say you have the Candidate Overview Smartforms containing links to a requisition Smartforms?
So this is a custom development isn't it?
Is the Adobe Acrobat opening within a Browser window or as a dedicated programme?
If Adobe is opened separately please check, that the Browser Integration of Adobe is active within Adobe's settings.
Links within Smartforms are relative links in general and therefore just working when called in-browser.
    Best regards
    Sebastian

  • Acrobat does not allow connection to a certain website

I have a PDF with a link to a pdf-file on a certain website. When one user clicks the link it says ( it is in dutch, so i try to translate):
Acrobat does not allow connection with www.XXXX  (the name of the link where the link addresses to)
We work in Citrix, most users do not have the problem, only one user has.

Compare the Security (enhanced) and Trust Manager settings for yourself and the user on the same machine. If they are not identical, make them so. If that doesn't work,
I'm assuming the msg appears in a dialog and not the yellow msg bar.

  • My 5800 does not automatically connect to Bluetoot...

    Hey Folks,
I have the following problem with my 5800 X-Press Music: I paired my Bluetooth Headset with my mobile and everything works fine. Then I accepted the question about automatic connection between headset and mobile. But when I turn the headset off and on, my mobile does not (re)connect to the headset. I did a lot of research and found a lot of topics where people says that this is a bug in the bluetooth firmware. I just upgraded my firmware to the newest version, but that did not solve it.
any hints and help would be appreciated, but answers from nokia officials would be the best for me!
    Thank you in advance

It's more likely to be a bug in the bluetooth earpiece. I too have one and it does reconnect automatically when I switch it on, provided bluetooth is switched on on the phone, obviously.
