IBooks doesn't think I own any books

After installing Mavericks and launching iBooks it said it would check for books I own for my apple id and then told me promptly that I don't own any (which I do). When I go to the iBooks Store and search for books I own, it says download vs. showing the price so the store knows that I own them.
iBooks will not download any book samples either.
When I click "Store/Check for Available Downloads" it asks for my password which I enter and tells me "all updates and purchases have been downloaded for this apple id"  umm, no.
Wondering why my apple id won't download my books!!

We actually have two problems going on so we can tackle each in turn. However, I noticed in the screenshot that you have BIOS version 1.21 installed. Version 1.25 is available from www.Support.Lenovo.com which includes this item:
Fixed an issue where the computer with large-capacity memory installed might fail to resume normal operation from standby/sleep state.
I have no idea if that will solve the LTT issues but it sounds reasonable. Otherwise, continue below.
We are not seeing any memory installed
Could you check the system history page in LTT to see if it detected your memory installation a week ago?
1. Open LTT and click the Lenovo Support button
2. Select the Performance and Configuration History row to open it and click the button
3. On the calendar, select the appropriate date on the System Changes row and look at the Hardware changes
4. Does it show that memory was added?
Could you run a system information report and send it to me?
1. Click the Diagnostics button
2. Click System Information and then the Advanced System Details button
3. Click Expand All and then Save the file
4. Check your Private Messages page for my e-mail address to send the report
We are not detecting your MTM
The "Upgrade Memory" button is expecting to have your MTM to display a web page for your exact system. However, we are not seeing the MTM. You can confirm this because of the blank space next to Product in the upper left corner of LTT. From the screenshot, the Product (MTM) appears blank and the serial number seems to be a bunch of spaces in quotes. A BIOS update may fix this issue but the report I requested above will help us as well.

    I M unable to open any books in ipad3 from iBooks, when ever I click on any books it is going to just like search, it is happened since 2 days.

    Rented movies downloaded to an Apple TV can't be transferred to any other device.

    previusly it was easy to edit onfo of any book using itune but now with mavericks books are stored in ibook and there is no option for editing info of any book

    exactly the same for me. This is the worst ever released application from Apple IMHO.
    All my well kept and organised books and pdf's are now in disorder. Lost their category settings, their author settings and on top of all can't be edited in iBooks anymore and any further. No chance to edit wrong typings and to fill missing information (eg. authors, categories, ...).
    I used to organise my papers (mostly PDF's) in iTunes like a document manager, the way I needed them on my various iOS devices and used them for work. I had groupings for my books like computing - networks, computing - guides, computing - iOS, computing - scripting, etc. .... now all is gone and lost. How am I supposed to organise over 1300 papers without any editing possibility (only sections can be assigned, no categories can be, neither can any information be edited/changed/corrected?
    And on top of that all: HOW DO I BACKUP / RESTORE MY BOOKS from now on?
    The books and PDF's are moved from the iTunes Library, where they were accessible and editable and where I could backup my whole media library on external NAS and storage. How will I get back my books/PDFs in the future if I setup my Mac Pro again from scratch or in case of a disaster (eg. failing disk)? Am I forced to use TimeMachine here?
    There is no way to define by myselfs the place where the iBooks are stored on my system. No, they are all moved to some well hidden place into the users-library filling up my (until iBooks/Mavericks) system only SSD hard drive with hidden books. Is this the new strategy of Apple to try to make me under-age?
    No editing, very limited organizing, no possibilty to define it's own storage-location, no backup/restore (no export/archive like in most other application like calender, addressbook, mail, etc. ....) what the **** is that?
    I like most of Mavericks new additions but this here with iBooks is a mess and complete drawback for a user that liked to read his books on his iOS devices and was well organized.
    And to be honest, I seriously consider to migrate back to OS X Mountain Lion just because of this ridiculous implementation of iBooks!

    I would first start with closing all applications in multitasking and power cycling the device.  Test opening a downloaded book in iBooks

    I don't have this problem, but just a thought... have you tried signing out of your apple id and re-starting iBooks?
    You can sign out in 2 places.
    1. In iBooks, by tapping on your apple id down the bottom left hand side of the page.
    2. In iPad Settings, then store, then tap apple id.

    iCloud does not provide website hosting. You will need to find another website hosting service - there are many to choose from - and upload your site there. How you do this depends on what version of iWeb you have.
    In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
    Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
    In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
    You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
    To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
    From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
    You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
    Some facilities that iWeb provided when hosted on MobileMe will not work on other servers: comments on weblogs and photos, password-protecting your site (some hosts may provide this), searching in the weblog, and a hits counter (again, some hosts can provide code for this). Slideshows in iWeb will work on other hosts than MobileMe (they use different code when FTPing which doesn't depend on scripts hosted on MobileMe as the MobileMe version does); however there is an issue with the 'buttons' which control the slideshow which are images hosted on me.com - these depend on images which used to be hosted on MobileMe.     The lack of details in your post makes it really tough to figure out what you are talking about. What do you mean by iBooks doesn't open the books? You do realize that you have to actually buy the book to read it. When you tap on a book in the iBooks store, it does open to a description of the book. That is how it is supposed to work.

    So played around with iBooks Author for the last few hours and I've come to the conclusion the iBook doesn't feel like a book.
    Where is the standard book "layout"??
    You get a page of text and when you get to the bottom you "turn/flip" the page?  I really not like this whole scroll through your chapters/pages.
    I do like the interactive parts, like adding a video, it's rather cool, but still like the old feel of the epubs.
    Will this come? Is it there and I've overlooked it??

    It's a new world. You used to have a book, now you have an ibook. That i makes all the difference, that and electronic circuitry and electricity. We no longer read, we interact. We used to hold a book and turn pages, now we drag and swipe our fingers over a glass plate. What we see and hear, and how our brain processes it, is a new experience for us. Evolution progresses. It's a new world.

    It's taken off both iPhone and the new iPad

    You can insert the PDF that you want to have on iBooks trough iTunes using the library section "books", or simply drag and drop the PDF to iTunes and sync your iPhone, iPad.
    You can also open a PDF on Safari and tap on open in iBooks at the top of screen.

    I have several Pdfs...  default was to open pdfs in acrobat and when I click within ibooks it opens in acrobat. I changed the default app for PDFs from acrobat to iBooks  and now it just hangs... it won't open any books at all.
    I don't have this issue on iphone opening pdfs in iBooks

    If the book won't open then try deleting it from the bookshelf and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app and see if you can open that.

  • Had CC for a year.  Want to get again, but doesn't say I qualify for the $29 pricing because I haven't owned any previous software?

    As the title states.  I had the student version of CC for a year.  The $29/month would help me a ton, but it says I haven't owned any Adobe software before.  Did having CC for a year technically not count as owning the software?

    Thanks for the info. Seems kind of messed up though. Why would Apple let any random user of a machine control all future upgrades of critical apps. I guess perhaps my admin password was needed at some point, which my son has. Still, seems this is something you should be able to undo.
    I'm starting to get a clearer pictures of what's going on. These 3 apps are part of iLife 11 and normally cost $14.95 each. They come pre-installed on new machines, but it looks like at some point you need to associate this "purchase" with an Apple ID, and can only associate it with one Apple ID. Thus they are now irrevocably associated with my son's Apple ID.
    However, if I wanted to shell out the money, it seems I should be able to tell this particular mac to forget everthing it knows about the purchase of these apps, and re-purchase them from another Apple ID. Although I doubt I'd do that at this point, if I by a 2nd Mac and properly associated these apps with my Apple ID on this 2nd mac, I should then be able to use this "purchase" to download the apps to the first mac I'm having a problem with. However, currently I can't even see a way to do this. Is there some App Store cache I can trash so App Store no longer knows which apps were installed by which Apple ID?

    Thanks to all of you who helped me get PS Album Starter Edition unlocked.
    It still has the problem that it doesn't think I am online.
    The Unread Message(s) notification box in the upper right hand corner says I am not connected to the internet.
    In the HELP Menu, Edition 3.0 Help works (that is how I got here).
    Online Support works.
    Check for updates says no connection to the Internet is available.
    Upgrade to Elements works (although I didn't try the upgrade).
    Elements Online works.
    Adobe Online works.
    I have tried it with Norton Security turned off or on, but it doesn't make a difference.
    What is different? How do I fix it?

    I tried to access the address (URL) that you suggested and got nothing except a line saying "...perhaps there is a form..."
    I have this problem with Adobe Album Starter 3.0 and I basically get the same message about "internet connection."
    If anyone finds a solution, PLEASE post instructions.
    I can't get any information from Adobe.

    (PS I have Photoshop Elements 4.0 and basically get a different approach to the "Online Photo Service" (Kodakgallery.com) but still no photo book created and purchased through Adobe software. I had been using Kodak's Ofoto but it is virtually impossible to arange photographs at that site. I've ordered 6 photo albums and the quality is good-excellent but with Adobe I can't get my photos to the site.)

    I cannot access ibookstore through iBooks.  Have to go through iTunes because store icon does not work.  When I'm in the bookstore I cannot purchase any books, view any samples or download free books.  Have reinstalled app numerous times, reset iPad and double checked all my info for apple id and still cannot download anything from store.  Can anyone please help?

    Recently both the Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause an issue like that. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.
