IChat problem - is router the problem and can I do anything to solve it?
I am in Ireland at the moment visiting my family. We all have Macs - IBook G4, MacBook and mine is MacBook (new this August). I can use iChat (video etc) with my family back in the U.S. and with my brother-in-law who lives in Ireland. The problem is with a iBookG4, which my sister has. She has a Netopia router with Eircom (on DSL). We've been able to video conference with each other in the same house, but neither of us can do a video conference with anyone else, so we think that the problem is with the router. It is "Type 0X21" and has 12 VDC, 800mA - this is written on the backside of it. Not sure if that means anything, but I thought I would include it, just in case. Is there anything I can do via either computer to access the firewall(s) in the router that I could change? Or any other suggestions? I have already set the Quicktime speeds etc. like suggested in other forums. And as I can iChat very successfully from my brother-in-law's house, I guess the problem does not lie within my computer.

I was able to solve the problem. I contacted Eircom and the agent told me to set my firewall at "low" - and that helped for a while. I was able to video conference from my computer and my sister's. Then they both stopped working again. My husband did some research (not sure where) but he gave me some port numbers to add and that seemed to do the trick. Once in a while I cannot make a connection, but I think that is due to traffic on the DSL.
Just in case this might help some other Irish iChatter with Eircom and Netopia
here is what my husband found for me
Apple Menu ->System Preferences ->,from View Menu ->Sharing ->Firewall tab -> New ->Port ->Other ->Port Number (Range or Series Field) type in:
5060, 5190, 5297, 5298, 5678
In the Description Field type in: iChat AV.
Click OK.

Thanks for the additional details mnslider. Let's make sure that we figure this out. Is the device software currently up to date? You can check by going into Settings, Software Update, and Check New. As well you would be able to uninstall or clear the data and cache for that application to see if that would help. As well you would even be able to disable the application all together. I am having the exact same problem with the iMessage on both my MacBook pro and my iphone4. It either says the username/password is incorrect or it can not contact the server. Facetime and iCloud works just fine with the same apple id and password. Somebody please help, I am beyond frustrated!

When I first attempt to power on my MacBook Pro, the LED blinks but the MBP doesnt turn on. However when I try a second time the LED blinks but my Mac turns on. Is this a problem with the hardware and can it be fixed?
Also, I apparently have to replace my battery. Could the problem have any relevance to a dead battery?Have you held the power button down for 10+ seconds? That should turn it off.

Problem in importing the type and jobs

Actually i am having problem in importing the jobs and types from a dump ,during import it gives an error for both jobs and types and after the import completes ,when i check the job and type in the schema it does not exist ,,
Kindly give me any suggestion regarding this problem or suggest me any way through which i can import these jobs and types on the same server but in different schema ..or is there any way though which i can make the dump by using export,in which i can exclude the jobs and types in dump file.

How can I resolve this?What solved it is to turn on or Enable 3G and set Cellular Data to ON. While this worked to solve the problem. Apple still needs to correct the bug for 5.0.1 because there should be no problem even if the 3G and Cellular Data is turned OFF.

Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order
