Icloud is really messing up my mail? anyone else

this morning my mac mail has been broken all day.... i checked with comcast, and att... and tryed to call apple... but they wanted 49 bucks... but eventually att put me thru to a tech.... apparently this has been a real problem today for about 1.2 percent of icloud users.... it has really messed me up as i have a home business..... anyone else?

Same problem here -- worst e-mail outage I've experienced in ages, and going on far too long to be excusable as a simple server issue. No point calling Apple, such a widespread outage is already on their radar and it's already common knowledge that they have screwed up. Making noise is not the worst approach in this kind of situation (denied service by a giant corporation that's unresponsive to your woes), so just complain far and wide until Apple (finally) gets their act together.

  • I feel like I cant trust iCloud mail, anyone else got the same feeling?

This is getting very frustrating, I feel like my trust in iCloud mail are almost none. I switched my primary personal account to iCloud, thougt that it would be a nice step since I have many Apple devices. But the reliability is a real problem for me. Right now I´m waiting on two important e-mails that I know already have been sent but I cant access them...
Perhaps I need to go back to my old e-mail provider...

It is my opinion that you are completely correct.  Apple is not providing correct information in this case.
The outage effected people in different parts of the world and USA.  It is illogical that it only effected 1.1 percent.  Mailer Servers are usually clustered by IP address.  Google has different IP addresses in different parts of USA and users are assigned to those IP address.  Take my word for it more than 1.1 percent of people are assigned to an IP address.  My guess it was a bad software load or a major hack that propagated through their entire system.
It is the only thing that explains a two day outage.  They need time to get rid of what was propagating.  This is also explained by the fact that they originally said it was only .17 percent effected then raised it to 1.1 percent as it propagated through the system.
Hey, outages happen and that is not the problem..   It is that Apple, in my opinion, has stonewalled the truth and acted arrogantly.  Not a good things to do.

  • ICloud Mail has been down (Mac, iOS, online) since last night. Anyone else?

Mail has been down completely since last night. Not able to access from Air, iPhone, iPad, or via Safari. System Status reports no problems. Other iCloud tools (Calendar, Contacts) seem fine.
    Anyone else having this problem?

I've noticed this as well since about 10:30 EST.  I used to have emails forwarding from another address and when I switched that off the other address is receiving emails instantly so it's definitely a problem on Apple's end.  It's good to see that at least one other person is reporting the problem here, but it would be even better if Apple would update the status page.  I can be very patient if I know it's a known issue for them, but hate seeing that all is up and running normally from their point of view when it isn't.

  • When connected to my Ford Mondeo, my ipod nano can be controlled through interface.  But after while it comes up with message 'loading data' and then freezes.  Anyone else got the issue?

When connected to my new Ford Mondeo, my ipod nano can be controlled through user interface in car.  This worksd most of the time, but after a while if I try to change the music or search, it comes up with message 'Loading Data'.  I then have to pull out USB and reinseert, at which point it works again.  Has anyone esle expereinced this/have a solution?

Does not matter if anyone else has this issue.  You need to contact the Ford dealership.  It's their product you are having problems with.
If you really want to know if anyone else has this issue, post on Ford's Mondeo message boards.  It's where the Ford car owners hang out.

  • Has anyone else experienced WiFi issues after installing Mavericks?

I recently installed Mavericks on my 2009 iMac. After the initial install, everything worked beautifully. After my first reboot, however, the network is having trouble staying connected to the wireless network. I verified the modem/roouter were working by testing on my other wifi enable devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, etc).
My question really, if whether or not anyone else has experienced this after installing Mavericks official release and is this a known issue that I cannot seem to locate information on.
It should be noted that I often use a VPN service called Private Internet Access. And thought I havent had issues with this before any reboot, I thought it would be worth mentioning.
Thank to anyone's help in advance.

I've also been having a lot of issues with my wireless after I updated to Mavericks.  For me, the problem is manifest whenever I'm using my system in a conference room with a lot of other folks who are also using wireless.  The connection is up and down constantly, to the point where it's really not usable.  Other folks in the room (who are using Windows systems) don't have the same issues.  It's gotten to the point where _they_ are making fun of my me and my Mac (the tables have turned!).
I never had these issues when I was using Mountain Lion.  Since it's the same environment and the same hardware (MacBook Pro, 15", Retina), I've started to suspect that Mavericks is the culprit.

Happy to report that iTunes Match has returned to working like normal on iTunes 10.7 on my computer today. If any iTunes engineers read this thread, I really appreciate the fix.
Has it returned to normal for you?

  • Anyone else finding iCloud to be less than stellar?? It is slow and scrolling through my mail is absolutely painful.

Hi everyone - I've been an Apple fan for a very long time. Had one of the original iMacs. I have found iCloud to be one of the worst products that Apple has put together and am ready to discontinue the service. Just today I could not even get to my mail from my work PC. Scrolling through email is slow and "sticky" for lack of a better word. Is anyone else experiencing this with iCloud?
    Thanks.
    Liz

Glad you found a solution on your own! Your predicament sounds like an IP address conflict: your Mac and your iPhone competing for the same IP address in your DHCP lease; your router can satisfy one, or the other, but not both at the same time. Happened to me, and I had to renew the DHCP lease from System Preferences/Network while trying to connect both devices to the Internet at the same time; no more problems since then, but it all depends on the way your router handles simultaneous requests to the Web.

  • Loading mail in iCloud is REALLY slow

Loading mail in iCloud is REALLY slow; everything else seems ok; syncing to other devices is spot on.

    Bill...
On the Mac open System Prerferences > iCloud
Deselect Mail & Notes then reselect the box then restart your Mac.
    See if that helps.

  • Mail stopped recognizing my gmail and other, non-iCloud, accounts.  Anyone else have this problem?  No issue with the same software installed on my MacBook Air.

Mid morning, before Christmas, my iMac stopped downloading all mail from gmail and my personal domain. Only the me.com account is still functioning.  Thankfully I am able to access my mail on my MacBook Air but would like to get the problem resolved on my main computer.  Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Susan,
Can you loginto gMail's Webmail in a browser using the same login credentials?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
    Gmail send but not receive...
Here are two steps that have come in handy in related situations
    1) login to gmail on your computer or device via a web browser
    2) once logged in successfully, go to this URL to unlock:
    https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptch
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • HT4929 Is anyone else moving to Google because iCloud makes non-Lion equipement?

My $4000 MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8 will soon be unable to access mail unless I'm connected to the Internet and iCloud. The 'resident application' advantage Apple Mail once had is now gone.  Is anyone else moving considering moving to Google Mail for this reason?  Has anyone moved and come back?  Also thinking this will save over $100/year by canceling my subscription.  I can't imagine Apple sees this as a good business idea (turning loyal advocates into dispassionate former members), or am I missing something???!

CSound1, I really appreciate your speedy and obviously knowledgble and passionate reply.  I've been a MacFanatic for more than 15 years, but I'm clearly not as committed as you.  My knowledge and engagement in mail programs is and always has been pretty simple - I turn on the computer, open the program and process the mail.
From your condescending comments, I expect I should have been more explicit in my original post (and I've disregarded your selective reading responses).  My issue is that I can't process any email unless I'm connected to the internet and iCloud on this machine.
I have a MacBook Pro with 2GHz Intel Core Duo and 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory.  The most advanced operating system this will run, according to the Genius at the Apple Store, is OS X 10.6.8.  The most advanced Mail program for OSX 10.6.8 is Mail 4.5, which does not synchronize with iCloud.
I am able to process email on all my other Apple devices when not connected to the internet.
My issue with Apple on this is not just that they are not supporting the older application and offer mobile-only access, but that their historically amazing customer service fell flat in adequately letting me know that when on this device I will no longer be able to process email unless I have an active internet connection.
Do you know of a helpful alternative method to process email without an internet connection?
Mea Culpa on the $100 - I don't handle the family bills, my spouse confirmed we're already $100 richer this year.
You post an exaggerated litany of untruths and then have the effrontery to complain about condescension, goodbye.

  • Exchange email will not work after IOS 5.1 update. Anyone else having same problem. Its been three days now I cannot get mail.

Exchange Email not working on Iphone 4S is anyone else having the same problem and is there a fix for this?

    @ w3nitro
I'm having the same issues, except only one of my Exchange accounts took a dive after upgrading to iOS 5.1.  My Gmail account (set up as Exchange) works flawlessly but my native Exchange account (work e-mail) stopped working after the update.
Post update to 5.1:  (work Exchange account) I could view my inbox and view individuals emails in the inbox, but I was unable to send any emails.  Mail started asking for my password after the update (for the affected Exchange account) but once entered, it failed to verify.
I completley removed the Exchange account and rentered all the account settings but again, failure to verify any information.  I was hoping my password might have changed but it did not.  Also, maybe the IT guy at the office (not very bright) changed some settings but the only difference is the new iOS update.
And while playing with the iPhone trying to make it work again, I noticed something really weird.  Old emails (2-3 weeks) from multiple email accounts to include the inop Exchange account started showing up again on the pull down notification menu.  I would clear these out of the notificaion menu but they always kept reapearing; very strange.

  • My iCloud email seems to link to both my account and someone else's. Has anyone else had this?

I wanted to start using my icloud email but when i opened it I had the email from apple saying @icloud was reserved for me and another email which from what I can see was sent to someone elses email account ending in @me.com.
Drove myself mad with the apple support pages as they dont just let you submit an issues unless its one thats covered in the support forms so I have to post it here instead. Has anyone else had this happen?
It could be that I have been bcc'd into the email but its not a source I know and I can only see a "to" address and no evidence that I have been cc'd or bcc'd.
    Please Help Apple

When you are Bccd there is never any access to the Bcc list - that's the point of it (so that for example you can run a mailing list without everyone seeing everyone else's addresses) - so you won't see anthing of this sort other than your address showing up in the long header (command-shift-H to view), e.g.:

  • Messed up albums: anyone else seeing this?

    Hi all,
I've been living with this problem for a long time but never posted anything about it. Now I'm curious if anyone else is seeing it. Here's the bug report I sent in this week:
Hi. I'm posting about a bug that I've been having for a long time that seems to be getting worse. It's nothing critical but it's quite annoying, especially with a client by your side - which is what happened yesterday. When creating albums, Aperture will randomly show multiple copies of certain pictures. Aside from being extremely distracting visually, it even goes so far as to count the duplicates. For instance right now I'm looking at a client's selects album containing 5 pictures, but it's displaying (and counting) 16!!! Selecting becomes completely messed up, highlighting some duplicates and not others and not releasing the selection for all pictures when clicking outside a picture box. Restarting the app or the machine changes nothing. Right now I'm looking at three albums I just created and two of them exhibit the problem even though they were all created exactly the same way. I have a 4 x 6 album where one picture is duplicated 7 times and the others 3 or 4. It's a bit of a mess.
Here's a screenshot of a MobileMe gallery (of my kids) that's exhibiting the problem:
    http://www.diode.tv/aperturebug/duplicate_bug.jpg
I've highlighted some of the duplicates but there are more if you look closely.
Am I the only one with this problem? I'd love to know so I can track this one down.
    Thanks

    Jade-
No, I have not seen this problem (OS 10.4.11, Aperture 2.1.1) but I do feel your pain. When an app misbehaves in front of a client it reflects on our professionalism, and that s*cks.
I am not suggesting that something similar is your specific problem here, but 10.5 initially caused all kinds of issues with Adobe CS3, and CS4 has quite a few issues of its own. When everything is working well I tend not to immediately accept new app or OS updates because different parts of the package (multiple OS components and multiple apps) so often have not yet been fully tested together, making updates much like public betas.
In the event that this malfunctioning presages something really bad going on with Aperture I would take care to make sure that backups are in order, but without writing over any existing backup Libraries in the event that the current Library is hosed.
After everything is as ready for catastrophe as it can be,
    • Repair Permissions via Disk Utility
    • Do a Software Update
    • Again repair Permissions via Disk Utility
    • Rebuild the Library and see what happens.
    Good luck!
