ICS disconnects sporadically.

While tethering my phone, speeds are decent, but when watching a continious stream, my phone will lose its Internet connection. The phone shows that it's still charging, but I'm unable to ping outside the gateway. It will continue working if you disconnect the USB and reconnect.
I've tried several ICS software packages, different computers, and USB cables, but it continues to disconnect. I've used both Power Vison and PAM to connect to the Internet.
When using Wireless or Bluetooth to ICS, I don't experience the same problems, but USB seems to be the fastest method to connect to the Internet.

Mac Mail, sporadic disconnect

Mac Mail sporadically disconnects from Office 365 Exchange Server. User also has Gmail account setup in Mac Mail, but does not see the issue with this account. When Mail does disconnect from Office 365, it will reconnect on its own when user tries to send an email. This happens on user's iMac (details above) AND his MacBook Air. These two systems are used in two different locations (laptop at home, iMac on site). This leads me to believe it is not a network connectivity issue. I have rebuilt the prefs, Mail folder (~/Library/Containers/com.mail.apple); by rebuilt I mean, completely trashed all the Mail folder and reset everything up from scratch. I also reset the sync services, and I THOUGHT that worked, but the issue ended up coming back.
I realize is this is *likely* an exchange issue, BUT this it the only person experiencing this issue on our campus. If necessary, I will be submitting a ticket to Apple and Microsoft about this, but wanted to see if anyone here has any ideas.

Sporadic Disconnect to AppleTV

Just wondering if anyone is having a similar issue with AirPlay and AppleTV. Once in a while, I'll lose connectivity from my iPad to my AppleTV via AirPlay. In other words, I lose the AirPlay icon so I cannot stream any media to AppleTV. However, I still have WiFi connectivity so I can access the rest of my network and also the Internet.
The only way to resolve this issue is to disable WiFi and re-enable. Shortly thereafter, I regain the ability to stream to AppleTV. I haven't ruled out my network just yet, but it just seems connectivity is lost temporarily between the AppleTV and iPad.

My apple tv is connected via Ethernet and I don't experience the same sporadic disconnects when I use my MacBook air with wireless to the same apple tv

I am running JSP apps on Tomcat hitting against Oracle 10g DB. They have been working great. However, recently I am experience some bazzare events. Sporadically, webpages are only displaying partial result or even nothing from DB calls. When I checked the Tomcat log, I saw a bunch of the following error messages.
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: Got minus one from a read call
I've checked network connection (by ping and tnsping) between the webserver and the DB server, and everything looked good.
Someone said running TOAD on the client machine can cause such sporadic disconnections. Indeed turning off TOAD did reduce the number of errors. However, when I tried to load up a same page from two different web brower instances, I still get the partial results on both pages.
Does anyone know what is going on? It looks like my app is not waiting enough to get the entire data back. Is there anyway I can do that?

K9N-Diamond (MSI-7226) RAID5 disks disconnect sporadic

Hello together, this is a call from germany ... in hope to find briefly the right help in the world.
I´d a Problem that the RAID 5 won´t work stable ...
Sporadic one of the 3 disks disconnect, when I copy large files ~4-8GB on the RAID, or when I try to generate one there.
It sounds like the former Problems with the Promise SX-6000 RAID Controller, but this failure will fixed after an BIOS update.
Try to solve the problem:
After the first 10 installtions I´d add a 4th disk, as single drive for boot and the system files.
I´m working here with Windows XP SP2 Professional 32 + the 64 Bit Edition!
Under both systems the same effect.

It doesn´t work correct, mostly (98%) you must use the BIOS one by pressing F10, to rebuilt the RAID5.

Today I´ve downgrade the BIOS to the v1.2
There was one "mystic" Error ... the system didn´t boot, when all 4 RAM modules (Bank 1-4) installed.
After I´d disconnect the modules from bank 2 and 4 the system boot.
I do my settings in the BIOS and add the modules again ... and it works again.
(I´d testet the RAM modules with an tool ... they are error free).
... After that changing I´ve load the Bios default settings
May be there is a timing problem with the Chipset or RAM stettings ??

Device Disconnect Sound Plays Sporadically

Hello my Toshiba Satellite L675-57115, Windows 7 (browser Internet explorer 9.0.8112.16421) plays the device disconnect sound randomly while I'm surfing the Internet, with no seemly pattern that I am able to discern. At times the sound will play several times back to back and then it will be a few minutes before it plays again.
I'm not sure if this is related but when insert addresses (in yahoo mail) is clicked it does nothing. It will not go to the addresses. It also will not go to some sites that have addresses within a site when addresses are clicked on. When the address is clicked on it does nothing, but "open in a new tab" will work.
I would appreciate any help/advice from the knowledgeable Toshiba Forum posters.

I have no idea what could cause that, Doc, but if it were me and no problem was being caused, I would right click the speaker icon in the System Tray (AKA Notification Area), click Sounds, select Device Disconnect, click on the down arrow and select None, click Apply and OK out.

Sporadic random disconnects this week, very bad to...

I've never had any problems with BT Home 2.0 until this week, I have moved nothing about in my room nor adjusted any settings on the hub and my PC. I have changed the filter and still the same problems occur. I've noticed a lot CRC /HEC errors on the up stream... I live in Bristol if that might help to solve the problem. Maybe something next door could be affecting the line or a BT engineer has messed around with something on the exchange? (I am using a wired connection BTW). Any help and suggestions appreciated, thanks, Rob.

Sorry I can't offer any magic suggestions.   I had been getting regular disconnects for some months and even though I was keeping the router continuoulsy powered to avoid loss of line synchronisation it still was occurring.   See my comments in the thread "Re: Disconnects on Accessing HH and Random Disconnects at Night" for 10 Feb.
The Forum Moderators were very helpful and responded to my queries and arranged four visits from OpenReach to try and sort out the problem.    Eventually they decided that there was a fault in the exchange boards and made some change. Subsequently I kept the router powered up until the 13 May to make sure there was no synchronisation interrupts.   The line eventually stabilised at 14,336 kbps.   It has remained at that even with my logical disconnects at night from the HH Home Page.
I found from a search back in Jan as reported in the thread "Re: HH Type B Energy Consumption & Switching Off the Router" , that the Type A software version was 8.1.H.J. I don't know if it has been upgraded since.   I have found for my Type B that when received it back in Oct 2010 the ver was 4.7.5.1.83.3.5. and it is now ....83.3.18.   - when it was changed/upgraded I don't know.
As I say, although I still get random disconnects, it doesn't seem to affect my line rate.   Not sure if it is noise on the line (i have made a quiet line check and that is OK) as the Noise Margin is ca 7.6-9.1dB. I get disconnects sometimes when I try to look at the ADSL Settings, etc., having typed in the password for access. I have just looked at my Events Log and there have been a number of disconnects today since the router was logically connected at 14:04 this afternoon; 5 in total I think!   And the rate is still shown as 14,336 kbps.

Having said that your rate is quite reasonable and unless you are playing games or watching videos perhaps the interrupts will not be serious.   We only use it for email, family history, ebay and browsing so it is not really noticeable.

My iPod Touch Sporadically Connects and Disconnects.

I've had my first generation iPod Touch for about 2 years now and it worked fine at first. Lately it's been doing this thing where it will stay connected for about 30 seconds and then with rapidly disconnect and re-connect. I've tried two different USB cables and my sister's iPod Touch connects just fine to the computer and to iTunes. I have the most recent version of iTunes, and a brand new USB cable, but no matter what I do my iPod won't stay connected. Any help would be appreciated because I cannot sync my iPod and it is starting to have problems that would be fixed if it was synced. Also, I'm sorry if this topic has already been covered. I don't know if this would have anything to do with it, but I have jail broke it in the past. Oh, I also drop it on occassion (I'm a clumsy person), would dropping it have any effect on it?

A couple of items...
It's possible that a cable can charge an iPod on a wall charger wonderfully, but not sync the iPod to the computer. One of mine are in that "half-broken" stage, so I just ended up leaving it in the system I use to connect my iPod to my television.
Regarding the error you're receiving when connecting the iPod... is the iPod jailbroken? If not, try creating a new user account on your computer and connecting the iPod there.
Creating a new user in Windows XP:
1. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts
2. Click on "Create new user"
3. Follow the prompts to create a new computer administrator
4. Restart the PC and log in to the new account
I know you've already uninstalled and reinstalled Apple software, but this recommendation doesn't hurt. Open your Control Panel and go into Add or Remove Programs. Remove Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes. Then, open up My Computer, go to your hard drive, and open up the folder called Program Files. If you see a folder called Apple Mobile Device Support, delete it. Then, restart your computer, download a new copy of the iTunes installer from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and go through the installation.

Sporadic error "camera disconnected or off"

I have just purchased a Mac Pro and am going crazy trying to digitize footage (which is ironic since the simplicity of the Mac was the reason I wanted to convert from PC).
Here's the deal. Before I purchased, I went to the Apple store with my camera, a Panasonic PV-GS120 to test. Footage imported easily into iMovie on an iMac. Convinced, I ordered the MacPro online. It arrived and I couldn't get it to digitize footage with same camera (same tape, wire). When I connect the camera, I keep getting the error "camera disconnected or off" even though I've tried several different cables (including brand new Mac firewire cable) and every combination and order of turning off/on computer & camera. Camera is always in correct play mode. Randomly (it seems) it worked once and never again. Sometimes the blue screen pops up and says the error, other times blue screen doesn't even show up.
Please please help - I bought this Mac to make my life easier and so far I've wasted two days and am getting nowhere (oh yeah Apple support was NO help - said our camera wasn'ts supported then sent us a list which said it was).

Update: we discovered that the rear firewire works always when we power everything off, connect everything, turn on. Front one is random - we've only got it to work once.
Meanwhile after 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Apple Tech support (no exageration) we still don't know what's wrong but they suggested we either exchange the computer or get service (probably to replace the motherboard). Apparently we can't even just return it b/c it was 'customized'. So regardless, we're stuck eith it.
So far a very disappointing and frustrating first three days as a Mac owner, to say the least.

RTMPT clients disconnect sporadically

I'm operating a text-based streaming newsfeed. I'm dealing
with a client behind a proxy server. The client is connecting on an
rtmpt connection on port 80. The initial connection works fine and
the client receives news. The connection stays open for a while --
typically for 2 - 5 minutes, but occassionally during off-hours up
to 45 minutes. Then the FMS server reports that the connection has
closed.
Obviously, something is going wrong with the connections
through the proxy server. The fact that it works better off-hours
makes me think it has something to do with the overall demand on
the proxy server.
A few questions...
The client isn't explicitly closing the connection. So how
exactly does the server decide that a client has disconnected?
Is there any way to configure the client or server to
tolerate the proxy dropping the occassional message?
When talking to my clients proxy server admins, what could
they adjust to help the problem?

I am having the same issue although it works fine when I
connect using an IP instead of a host name.

Sporadic disconnects with E4200v2 router

I just bought a linksys 4200v2 router and I still get disconnects every so often.... usually disconnects for about 30 secs then comes back online. When it disconnects, it disconnects all devices on the wireless network router... laptops, iphones, etc..
I have tried adjusting some settings in the router but I simply don't know enough to know what I'm doing
Network mode: Mixed (same as 5ghz)
SSID: different from 5ghz
Security Mode: WPA2/ WPA Mixed Mode (same as 5ghz)
Channel Width: 20 mhz only (40 for 5ghz)
Channel: 1 (auto for 5ghz)
SSID Broadcast: yes (same for 5ghz)
How can I stop being disconnected from the internet? It's really frustrating.
I have inssider and I checked to see what channel my neighbors are using and all of them are using 6 or 11 so I decided to use channel 1 for 2.4 ghz.
I have a ~3000 sq ft home with 3 levels (basement, first, second). We do some work in the basement and second floor... most is done on the first.
I don't know how I can solve this issue..... my modem and router are next to the computer.

The placement of the router plays a great part when it comes to wireless signal. It is best to place the router in the central part of your house as well as in an open and well-ventilated area. Try not to place the router too close the modem or any wireless devices since the 18 inch radius around the router is considered as dead zone. Try to isolate further as well by connecting your computer directly to the modem as what sabretooth advised. Observe the connection and check if there will be dropouts. If there is then you might have to call your internet service provider and check the connection from their end. If behind modem the connection is You may also try changing the wireless settings on the router. You may try the following on 2.4Ghz network: channel width: 20MHz only; channel: use the best channel as per inSSIDer; security: wpa2 personal.

Disconnect from Server Drive Sporadically Using Bridge

When using Adobe Bridge CS4 I keep getting disconnected to a network drive. My PC stays connected via Explorer but not in Bridge. I have to restart Bridge to get access back.

Good luck with that. It most likely has something to do with the network, and Bridge is really not set up for network function. It works that way but Adobe says there are so many variables with networks that can not be quantified. Not sure but if Bridge does error checking like Photoshop does it could lead to what you see.

OS X Yosemite WiFi Still Sporadically Disconnecting Even After Update

I have a late-2013 MacBook Pro Retina. I've had Yosemite on it for a while now, and am now only facing this.
I know a lot of other people in the community have had this issue, and I know there was a recent update that fixes it, but it's just not letting up.
There are moments when I find myself turning the wifi off then back on again, only for it to work for a few seconds. Sometimes it just doesn't want to connect at all. I updated it recently, but the problem still occurs.
I've tried everything from SMC/PRAM resets, verifying/repairing my HD, deleting the system configuration files to no avail.
Is there anything I can do before I take it into the Apple store?

WiFi disconnects sporadically, automatically reconnects when I unlock my iPhone 4

For the past week or so my Macbook has been dropping its wifi signal at home, even with full signal strength and no other devices showing connectivity problems. Trying to reconnect manually, it won't recognise my router, but strangely if I unlock my iPhone 4s, it will quickly re-establish the connection by itself... any ideas on why this would be?

Microsoft Word 2013 Documents open as full version documents on two computers sporadically

Hello,
We have a customer site with a perplexing problem that occurs very sporadically.
Our customer has a large word document called “Green Book” that tracks all customer jobs, new, pending and completed in a large tabled document that can sometimes span up to 300 pages. Yes we are aware we probably should convince the customer to run an Access
database but have not had the expertise in-house to date to date to do this but that is off the scope of this topic for now….
The problem that is driving our customer (and us) nuts is that user A will open Green book quite happily, user B will turn up to work some 3 hours later and get a full read / write version of the document. If user B opens up the document immediately or within
a few minutes of user A the document will predicably come up with a “this document is in use by user xx” and give the end user an option to open the document as read only which would be fine if only this would work that way every time. Having a second
user open Green book inadvertently as read / write creates pandemonium when two users have conflicting edits to the document as they both think they have the original.
Every time our techs have been onsite we’ve been unable actually reproduce the problem for ourselves mainly because we seldom get three spare hours to wait and the office is flat out during business hours with end users reluctant to spare their machines
at the best of times…
The problem extends only to this file, no connectivity problems to other files, email or internet surfing have ever been reported so can only assume the core network is solid.
In a nutshell here is a summary of our customer’s network configuration that was part of a network upgrade done at the beginning of May this year:
N.B. all hardware (BIOS / firmware), operating systems and software has all been patched up to the latest possible versions both on desktop and server level.
HP Proliant ML350 Gen8 Server – 48 GB RAM, 2 TB RAID 10 10K SAS drives on a smart Array P400i
HP server runs Microsoft HyperV 2012 R2 (latest updates applied) and runs two guest OS:
SBS 2011 Server (32 GB RAM) that acts as File Server (that originally shared Green Book) / Exchange server
Windows Server 2012 R2 – RDS / Terminal Server (12 GB RAM) (this server now shares Green book)
Trend Micro Worry Free Advanced Version 9.0 in use with real time scan disabled on servers but enabled on desktops.
New late model HP Procurve Gigabit switch installed.
Desktop Computers are HP EliteDesk 8300 Computers running Windows 8.1 Pro / Office 2013 Home and Business on 4 GB RAM.
In a nutshell here is a summary of the troubleshooting steps / workarounds all unsuccessfully attempted to date:
Ensured Green Book from is saved in latest DOCX format not legacy .DOC format
Turned off server auto-disconnect (done on server not workstations) after 15 minutes feature on Windows server to rule out disconnected sessions giving User B’s computer a false impression it is the only user with access to Green Book

With above setting in effect I’ve instructed an end user to leave a document open for over an hour and do a
net files command on the SBS file server to confirm that user A still had a session lock on that file (which they did) to rule out a disconnect giving user B’s computer a false impression it had an exclusive access lock on the file.
Opportunistic locking on server has been disabled.
Setup a dedicated server with a connection limit of one user at a time to each of these “sensitive files”. Quickly abandoned this as it was more trouble than it was worth getting user to close Word to release file lock despite document being closed.
Moving Green book from SBS server to a shared folder on Windows 2012 R2 terminal server (no auto disconnect parameter set). Still has the same problem!
In desperation I’ve setup remote desktops for all affected users and put shortcuts on desktop a local C drive copy of Green book. Because it looks different to their desktop and Word is slow anyway users objected and I was forced to allow end users again
to open green book again from their individual servers.
What did the customer run before and what were the issues with Green Book?
Customer ran a Dell PowerEdge T300 Server with 8 GB of RAM and 600 GB mirrored SATA drives on SBS 2008 and Dell workstations running Windows XP SP3 / Office 2007.
Green Book was always slow because of Word being very slow with 300 + pages of tabled information.
No file sharing / locking issue as reported above was ever reported.
If anyone can share any experiences on this or shed any light on the problem we would be eternally grateful…

That said, you might find it useful to store documents intended for
shared editing in a OneDrive folder. This is designed to allow two or more
people can edit a word document concurrently.
Once you have OneDrive
operational, click OneDrive in the header of a SharePoint or Office 365 site,
then click the ellipsis (…) to the right of the entry. Then click ‘Share’ and
invite the other user to view or edit the document, and click ‘Share’ once more.
To add to the list of people already sharing a document, click the ‘Shared with’
icon in the ‘Sharing’ column and invite the additional person to view or edit
the document, and click ‘Share’ once more.
When someone invites you to
share a document, you’ll typically receive an email notification with a link to
the document. Clicking the link opens the document. If you have edit permission,
your changes are automatically saved.
