Ok so i sent my old touch in because the plug where you plug the headphones in was loose and they new one i got has much worse problems...
Anyway the new one was working for a few days then one day it reset itself into recovery mode so i restored it when i got home only to have this happen the next day, this happened a couple more times. now the ipod wont even let me restore it i keep getting an unknown error occured or the process will freeze and be stuck on the "preparing ipod for restore" phase. What should i do and no i won't send it in again for $44 when i should have gotten a working one the first time.

It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? Your signature lists both, Mac and iOS device - are you asking about GarageBand on your Mac or your iPhone/iPad?
If you are asking about the upgrade from GarageBand '11 to GarageBand 10.0 on your Mac, the old GarageBand version should still be installed. The installer will have moved GarageBand '11 to a separate folder "GarageBand 6.0.5" in your Applications folder. Open this folder and click "GarageBand". Does this version still see your old projects? If not, type ".band" into the Spotlight searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. Does that sfind your missing projects?
If you are asking about GarageBand on iPad/iPhone, there it is not possible to restore the previous version after you upgraded. And I do not see, how this upgrade could have deleted your projects. Have they completely vanished, or can you not open them any longer? If your projects have vanished, restore your device from your backup: See: iCloud: Backup and restore overview

Absolutely, Yes. I'm sure that many iPhones are "recycled" that way within a family.
The worst that will happen is that once in a while it will remind you to activate it as a phone. Just ignore the notifications.

Brand new Ipod touch G4 with sound only in one earbud

I have a brand new Ipod touch G4 with sound only in one earbud. I have tried different types of headphones, but get the same result. If I jiggle the connector pin, I can get sound on both earbuds, but only on one side when the connector pin is push all the way in.

Try on your ipod going to Settings-General-Accessibility. Scroll down into Hearing and see that Mono Audio is off. Maybe that's the problem.

You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.

Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. If I use the new sync-function, I keep losing my bookmarks or at least some of them during syncronisation. Is the new sync just as bad as the old one?

Just like with the old version of Firefox Sync I keep losing at least parts of my bookmarks when I'm using the new Sync version.
Anytime I change any of my bookmarks on one of my computers, I not only miss the change on other computers, but I also loose parts of the original bookmarks as well.
To me it seems that the new Sync is no better than the old one?

When you switched over to the new account, when you set it up the profile was blank and the name was: "uglings Firefox auf home1-ugling". Then on another login for the same computer, the name on the account was the same, so you changed the name.
So when you added bookmarks on the newly named computer account (the restricted account), all of the bookmark folders disappeared.
Summary for clarification, sorry for the repetitiveness.

Expected:
Merged folders to remain same file structure
Results:
Some bookmarks are not in folders that no longer appear in the bookmarks toolbar folder.
2 accounts on the same computer connected to the same Firefox Sync account had the same name and deleted some bookmark folders.
I filed a bug on this:

However in the meantime we can only recreated the folders that are missing on the accounts that you have set up. If this happens again, I will ask if it has to do with the unique identifier of each device attached to an account (I am assuming that its just the name that we renamed) But please also continue the discussion for this in the bug.

- Go to Settings>iCloud. Scroll to to bottom of the screen and tap the delete button. The effect all the services listed in Settings>iCloud like Notes, Contact and Calendar.
- You may be offered the option to retain that data on the iPod. Otherwise it gets deleted.
It does not effect synced media like apps and music purchased with the account..
Note that purchases made with an Apple ID are locked to the ID that purchased them. To update apps you have to sing into the account that purchased them
