If I just downloaded itunes to a computer that is not myoriginal home computer and plug in my ipod, is there anyway to keep my music? or add the music to my new home computer?
So I have a Ipod touch and an iphone 3g s. I originally used my friends mac as my home computer for both to add music etc..I have now downloaded itunes to my new computer at home. is there any way to add the music from my ipod & iphone to my computer, the itunes i have? or will i loose all of the music?
You can manage music among different computer:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
- You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. If you want to make the new computer your syncing computer you need to transfer all your iTunes libray to the new computer and capy/move the iPod backup to the new computer.
- You can transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- You can transfer other music by using one of the third-party programs discussed here:
new PC: Apple Support Communities
The iPod backup file is located here:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You may need show hidden files turned on
- Sometmes you can make a backup on the new computr by authorizing the new computer for the iTunes account(s) uses on the iPod and right clicking on the iPod in Devices in iTunes on the computer and select backup.
- One you have al the stuff on the new computer, restore the iPod from backup if you have a backup. Otherwise you will have to restore to factory defaults/new iPod and loose all your app data.

I had a laptop, an Averatec, for almost 7 years when it crashed. The OS on that laptop was Windows XP. On that pc, I had an iTunes account, I have no idea what version it was, however, the pc crashed nearly 6 months ago, if that helps. I have just downloaded iTunes on my current laptop, a 2 year old Toshiba with Windows 7. I also have an iPad, and I just purchased an iPad2, which is why I downloaded iTunes at this time. I need it in order to sync my new iPad. My problem/question is this- I can not find any way to login in to iTunes using my old account name & password, therefore, everything that I had in my music library and all other items are no longer accessible. I can still get into the iTunes store using my Apple I.D., but that does me no good in finding the other items. As I said, I don't see where a login & password is needed for this version of iTunes, yet I definately have one that I used in the past. Am I just out of luck, or is there a way to find my previous purchases? Thanks for any assisstance. I am NOT a tech geek (I don't mean to offend), can barely send an email, so I need all the help I can get! (BTW, as I was watching the tutorials once iTunes downloaded, I paused, backed-up, played, paused, etc.; and THEY ALL quit playing on me! I'm gadget cursed.)
Copy them from your old computer, or your backuo copy of your old computer. to your new one.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. the exception is itunes purchases. -
Hi everyone
I am running Snow Leopard on my early 2006 MBP. I just downloaded Boot Camp 3.1 so I can upgrade 3.0. Is there anything special I need to do to "install" 3.1 so that when I run Boot Camp Assistant it uses 3.1 instead of 3.0? Thank You.The Boot Camp 3.1 drivers you downloaded have to be installed in Windows after running Boot Camp Assistant. That update does not apply to Boot Camp Assistant, and as you are using Mac OS X 10.6.8, you are using the most recent Boot Camp Assistant version for Snow Leopard.
Once you have installed Windows with Boot Camp, insert the Snow Leopard DVD in Windows and install the Boot Camp 3.0 drivers. Then, install the Boot Camp 3.1 drivers -
Have just down loaded iTUnes 10.5.2.(11) onto MacBook Pro and now the earphone port is not working. Any suggestions. Annie H
My System Preferences>Soundoutput screen does not have the "Use audio port for" field.
Does your MBP have two separate audio ports - one for line-in and one output port? Then you wan't see that selector.
but the port has started to work again....Reason???
Perhaps there was dirt or something in the jack and the contact was bad.
(or you accidentally put the plug into the line-in jack instead into the audio-out; that happened to me once ).
Regards

I just downloaded itunes 11.4 and the "Summary" button does not show up?
Hello,
I just downloaded iTunes 11.4 on my Windows 7 Premium laptop to perform an encrypted backup of my ifone 4 before receiving my ifone6. However, the "Summary button" is not showing up in iTunes. So I'm not able to select encrypt backup. I can perform a non-encrypted backup by going File->Devices->backup and that seems to create a backup. But without the ability to create an encrypted backup my passwords won't be saved in the backup, is this true? Does Versions 11.4 automatically encrypt and save off all the ifone passwords?
Kind regards,
123skernGo to settings -> iCloud and turn calendar on. This should hopefully resolve your issue

I just downloaded iTunes on my new PC and all the music that I have purchased through ITunes that was backed up on the cloud won't play. It is telling me I must authorize this computer before it can play pre purchased music. how do I authorize my computer to play this music?
Thank you for any assistance.Tigon's already got you covered here. But I'll chime in with some English localisation advice.
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -
Hi all,
I've just downloaded itunes onto a new computer, and I'm currently downloading previously owned music from the cloud. However, it keeps sticking on various songs - it will get part of the way through and just stop, this seems to happen to about 1 in 10 songs. How do I get round this?
Also, once I've finished dowloading from the cloud, how do I get my library to display only the songs I've downloaded, and not all the other ones that I don't want anymore?
Cheers, AlexOn the new laptop, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

I have another computer that a virus may have taken over and I cannot log into it anymore. I just downloaded Itunes on a new computer but most of my songs are not on there. Is there a way to still access or find those songs? Remotely or another way? Or do I need to take it to a tech to get my files off of my hard drive?
Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.
For a backup strategy see this User Tip.

I just downloaded itunes onto my new laptop and I am trying to burn songs onto a cd that I had purchased previously and I am getting an error message that states I must authorize this computer. What does that mean?
If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

I have an Ipod that is about a year old which was connected to an old computer that has crashed. I just downloaded itunes on a new computer, hoping to download my music from my ipod, but it won't let me. Any ideas how to sync them?
Engadget has a guide for this.

My motherboard "fried" on my computer when the fan quit working. I cannot access my hard drive on my old computer. I just downloaded ITunes on my new computer; assumed it would pull all my playlists in under my Apple ID and password-no such luck. Help Please?
If your external drive does not have an independent power supply, you may wish to consider a couple of lower-cost options before tossing the drive. Bus-powered drives have no external power source and must get all their power from the computer. They can exceed the computer's USB energy budget.
Cheapest option:
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
This gets power from two of the computers USB porst sna can provide enough power to wake up an under-performaing bus-powered drive.
If you don't have enough ports to use this, try the next cheapest option:
Newer Technology 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter for Mac & PC
Such a hub has a an independent power supply to make up for wahat the comptuer fails to provide. -
I just downloaded iTunes to a new computer. It's been a while since I used iTunes on my old computer, so the new one has a totally different user interface. I signed on to my account and saw my music but I have no playlists on the new computer. What's the easiest way to replicate or restore my playlists as I had them in the old computer and in my iPod?
OK, thanks for the response. I'm copying it onto a memory stick to transfer it to the new computer. Still have two questions:
1. Since there is already an iTunes folder on the new computer, created when iTunes was downloaded, where exactly do I copy the old folder onto the computer so that iTunes can find it? In the old interface, there used to be a field where one could designate the path to find music and I don't see that in the new interface.
Assuming the above takes care of putting my playlists onto the new computer...
2. How do I add music that is currently stored in a back up file but was not on my old computer's drive? I'm worried that I would have to add these one by one somehow, and there are a lot of songs.
Thanks again. -
I just downloaded Itunes to my new computer, and when I tried to go to the Store, it says the info I requested isn't available in the US. What gives?
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, which is available here -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then try following the steps in this Apple article to create an account without a credit card -> Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card -
I need to know if i just downloaded itunes to my new computer and synced it with my ipod touch if all me songs would transfer over?
No, they won't transfer over, however, there are third party PC/Mac programs which will transfer the content of your iPod to your computer. Just do a Google search on this topic and you will find them (e.g. senuti)
