If I post a photo on Photostream, then edit it in iPhoto, will the edited version replace the original?
I am working with RAW photos. If iPhoto uploads immediately to Photostream after adding pics and then I edit the photo, will the edited version replace the original on Photostream?
Yes.
If you want to do this to squeeze more songs onto a device then take advantage of the feature to downsample as songs are transferred. Device > Summary tab > Convert higher bitrate songs to to 128kbps AAC
If you're running out of room on your library's hard drive then it is time to buy a bigger drive.

I just installed Yosemite. iPhoto is gone, and Photos does not open. Instead, I am prompted to update to the latest version. The App Store tells me that is not available in the US. What do I do? Cannot access any photos.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Alternatively, see:

Choose the version you have installed now:
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X

Where is my IPhoto library? I updated and the last two years of photos disappeared. Help., Where is my IPhoto library? I updated and the last two years of photos disappeared. Help.Thank you.
Simple and fast solution: restore from your back up.
Other than that:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

How can I go back to the optimized version of the photo after I have viewed it on my iPad?
Hello,
The reason why I chose the iCloud services (I'm on a 200GB plan), is that I wanted to be able to have on-demand access to my photo library and view my pictures, without having to store them on the device itself.
Now It seems like every time I access a picture that is stored on the cloud from my iPad, the original full resolution version of it is downloaded on my device and it stays there. This can cause my iPad's storage to be full by only viewing a few of the albums that I have stored on the iCloud!
There must be a way to go back to the optimized version of the photo after you've viewed them on your device. Can anyone please help me with that?
Thanks very much!https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+the+Adobe+Reader+plugin+with+Firefox

I edited clips and then re uploaded the rendered versions into the organizer and now the thumbnails aren't showing up. how do i generate the thumbnails?

Thanks for the reply with the very helpful details.
Export from Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG with Presets = HDTV 1080p29.97 High Quality
I suspect that we are in a no win situation here - an Elements Organizer 12 issue.
With Elements Organizer 11, 10, and 9, I can bring your MPEG2.mpg into the Elements Organizer with thumbnail with
image. I cannot for Elements 12. And, I am working with the same MPEG2.mpg in Elements Organizer 9.0/9.0.1, 10, 11,
and 12 on the same computer. In the morning, I will look Elements Organizer 13 as well.
In my work with 12, this MPEG2.mpg consistently crashed the Elements Organizer 12.
It is difficult to explain these results by invoking a missing codec theory since all was done with the same sample on the
same computer.
More later.

Is there a way to ADD photos to my iPad without replacing the ones already there? I am trying to add photos from a computer that does not contain photos already synced to the device.
You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

I currently have my full resolution photos and videos on my iPhone and iCloud but I'm running out of space on my iPhone. If I choose to have optimized versions of my photos on my iPhone, will photo editing apps such as Snapseed or some other app be editing the optimized version? Or will the iPhone automatically download the full resolution version for me to edit?
I guess it would be the same for the videos?
How long would the full resolution photos and videos stay on the iPhone? Until it's low on space and then the iPhone will auto delete the full res versions? -
I don't like Apple's algorithm that constantly pushes the same songs at me, so I have a couple of playlists configured for songs I haven't listened to in a month, two months, etc. This has worked fine for years. Since I've gotten my iPhone 4S, however, things are goofy. The songs are marked as played and fall off of the playlist on iTunes, but they stay on the playlist on the iPhone, which means they come up again and again in the shuffle of that playlist. Even if I sync the iPhone the songs are still on the version of the playlist on the phone and I can't figure out a way to "refresh" that playlist and get rid of them. I know this is my own particular quirk about my music, but it's worked with every other iPod I've had. I don't know why the iPhone is holding on to a different version of the playlist than the one on iTunes. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
My iTunes is on a MacBook running Snow Leopard.Lynn,
I had a very similar issue (same playlist). After several frustrating hours of various combinations I was able to sync by changing the options to "manuall sync.." and then "dragging and dropping" the needed playlist from the iTunes Playlist list to the iPhone button (on my itunes setup/view that was from the far left column list of all of my playlist in iTunes to the far upper right "iPhone" button). To sum up "checking" the playlist and syncing didnt work, "drag and droping" the playlist did... at least for now... then I unselected the "manually manage" in the options and re-synced and all playlist were synced correctly. Good Luck. -
When I adjust a photo using FADE how do I save that version? The print prints out as the darker, original version and I want it lighter.
Nevermind, I found another example that has this option.

After downloadingOSX I have not been able to open iphoto. It has the spinning icon for the last 2 1/2 hours and will not let me open nor quit the applications. Is this because of the amount of photos i have in the program? I'm sorry i downloaded the update. I have work to do with the photos
I was able to turn it on but when I turned on WiFI the apps would not open and the phone crashed again and turned off.

I evaluated the internal temp (using Istats pro) and it is at 86.5 degrees feh (about 22 c*). Is that normal? What tools can I utilize to ensure that the internal system prevents from overheating. I have the Mac running on a cooling fan.

A.) I accidentally hit the solve problem when responding to your comment... Is there a way I can undo that?
AS Ralph indicated, the system does not allow for that.
B.) I will post the Istats screen when I get home from work.
My concern is that the temperature you reported is abnormally low. Thus I would like to see an image of the temperature monitor. In sounds more like Centigrade.
Also post an image of Activity Monitor showing ALL PROCESSES and % CPU displaying values from high to low. This way we can determine if the temperature readings reflect the activity being performed on the MBP.

Up till yesterday, our iphoto was working correctly. At one point, I noticed the slideshow wasn't displaying, so I opened iphoto and the message said there was a newer version, so I selected upgrade. The next message said the library needs rebuilding. Selected rebuild. Next,
I got the message in the header, and it's been cycling for hours now with no result. I'm not computer friendly, so I could use some help. Thanks for the reply.
I was wrong - the OS is 10.6.8. Is that old, too? I don't know where to find the version of iphoto I had and which one is trying to upgrade. Where would I find that. I restarted and still the same message.
"Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete." selected upgrade:
"iphoto is unable to open this library. The library has issues that require rebuilding. The iphoto library is missing required database files and must be rebuilt before it can be opened" selected rebuild:
Next message is: "waiting for iphoto library...will open as soon as library is available. Time machine might be backing it up" and cycling.....
During this time, the iphoto file is unavailable, all options greyed out.
I have an external hard drive connected and time machine is on.
Like I said, not literate with computers, so I hope I'm giving the right information -
Is iphoto for iphone designed to replace the regular photos app?
When i baught iphoto I expected it to accuattly replace the regular photos app i was really excited to get it and when i did wow not at all what i expexted from apple
Well i baught it for many reasons but one of them. Was that i needed a refresh of the photos app i have had every iphone since the beggining and it bored me so when i saw iphotoit seemed that way like a newer way of seeing your photos while having awesome editing tools. The tools are really cool but was hoping it to be less lagy and to actuatlly replace the photos app At least that is how i saw it

I keep getting this error. Yesterday as I downloaded 8 songs from iTunes store the computer paused then continued. After seeing all the songs were downloaded I tried to play some, 2 kept telling me that I had to authoriae the computer. I reauthorized the computrer only to reveive a message that the computer was authorized. I still can't play the 2 songs other than going through the authorized computer template then when I play those 2 songs I only get the preview version even though it show all songs were paid for and downloaded
I have a windows 8 64bit operating systemHi Rosera,
This is bad and I am sorry to hear that you are running into these issues.
Let me connect with you, so right now, the current state is that you have installed copy of PSE 8 in trial on your windows 7 machine, and when you are trying to enter the serial number from your PSE 8 Box, it is saying the serial number to be invalid?
It might sound pretty obvious, but please make sure that you are entering the serial number correctly and of PSE 8(in case you bought a PEPE box)?
Have you tried the steps mentioned below by Barbara?
If possible, you can send me the serial number through PRIVATE MESSAGE and I can check it on my end that whether the serial number is indeed invalid or that the issue is with your machine?

How do I copy photos from Photostream to an event in iPhoto on my iMac?
OK, it looks like photostream is working as it has imported photos from my iPhone to the folder called Photostream in iPhoto on my iMac.
Now, I want to copy some of these photos and paste them into certain existing events I have already created. I can highlight the ones I want, and copy from the menu, but when I go to the event I want to place them into it doesn't allow me to paste them.
Can someone give me the step by step instructions I should use to copy/move photos from the Photostream folder to an event folder on my iMac?
Thanks!Flag the pic(s) and select the the Target Event and go Events -> Add Flagged Pics to Selected Event
i see how to do this
Drag the selected pic(s) to the target Event.
i'm struggling with this. i don't see a way to drag a pic from photostream direct to an event. if i'm in photostream, i can drag a pic, but i can't see any individual event to drag it to. i can dump it in Events in the sidebar and drag to an event from there, but that's a bit clunky.
beats me why i can copy a pic in photostream, but iphoto won't allow me to paste in an event???
