If someone torrents a OS X upgrade on your computer how can you restore it without the startup disk
I recently let my friend use my computer for a few days with the promise that it would run better. When i got it back i found out he torrented Mac OS X 10.7. i have let it sit on my computer for a while but it has caused problems with downloading apps. I would like to know how to downgrade back to the compter was when i orginally bought it. I do not have a startup disk because i bought it from a used mac seller online. also i would like to keep my files, music, games, ETC.
That was an incredibly bad thing your friend did to your computer. A torrent of just about any software you download for the Mac will have malware in it. So that gets installed along with the software you think you're getting for "free".
I wouldn't use that computer for anything where you may type in a password, checking or credit card numbers, or any other type of sensitive data until you've had the chance to backup your important files.
Once you have a way to do so, erase the drive and reinstall the OS, and then reinstall only your legally acquired software.

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?

After I upgraded to Mavericks, all of my "Notes" data was gone. The Note ap is still available but the notes themselves are no longer in Mail as they used to be.They are still on my iPhone, but I want them on my computer, too.

Can i reboot my macbook without the startup disk and then upgrade to snow leopard
I am using OS X 10.5.8 which i believe is leapard and i am looking to wipe my hard drive and start from fresh with snow leapord or even straight to mountain lion (if thats possible without going through all the upgrades such as snow leapord, lion, etc).
I dont trust the Apple Time Capsule based on the reviews so i could also use advise on an alternative to store my data (about 50 GB) in the intermin of the "wipedate".

skamensUnless you install Mac OS X 10.6 onto a different partition, doing a clean install will erase iLife. You won't be able to reinstall it from a retail package unless otherwise noted.

Upgrade to non-Unicode complete - can you give it to the functional team?
Hello all,
Completed the sandbox upgrade to the non-Unicode. The process took a while due to slow, issues, etc. Now the functional team wants to know if rather than waiting for the Unicode conversion - can they use the system?
They only want to evaluate the functionality with their data/customization, minimal testing.
Will that be ok? Also, because its non-Unicode yet, then their ABAP progarms will work even if its not yet Unicode-enabled?
I was thinking of creating a backup, give it to them for a month, then restore the backup and complete the Unicode conversion?

The system will be used only for 'evaluation' purposes and will not be connected or transferring data to other systems.
The only reason for doing an uprgade is that the system has some of their own customization and data, as opposed to doing an install.
I also remember that in some occasion, SAP will allow a 'one-week' grace period between the upgrade and the Unicode conversion (if you sign a waiver). But again, this is a pure sandbox.

I Have been using PP since 1.5 I am now on CS6 but the last 3 updates have been on upgrade DVDs. I now need to delete and reinstall Premier. How can I do this without a CS6 disk. I cannot reinstall CS3 and then do the upgrades individually as CS3 was for Win XP and I'm not sure it would work. Is there a dept in Adobe I can contact (no telephone numbers) to get a CS6 DVD. Thank you for any assistance.
Adobe has made this process much simpler in recent years.
No need to re-install any version earlier than the current version (CS6). All installers (upgrade or full) contain the full program code. The difference between full and upgrade is in the serial number.
All you need do is download (link below) and install CS6, enter the CS6 upgrade serial number then enter the CS5 serial number (even if that too is an upgrade).

I have a macbook pro i bought from someone and I need to clear all this other persons info, i don't have a the cd by the way so thats the challenge I'm against. its a early 2011 macbook pro 8.1 and it has 10.6.6 snow leopard on it and i would like to get it to mountain lion but didn't know if downloading that would clear the memory as well? any ideas?...

2: Apple menu > About this Mac > More Info > Macbook Pro 3,1 or like model number, punch it into Mactracker.
3: Find out what OS X version came originally on your machine. how far you can go.

4: Inexpensive. $ If < 10.6.3, then order the 10.6.3 disks by calling Apple via phone.
5: More money $$. If > 10.6.2 then call Apple ia phone for the machine specific versions as the 10.6.3 retail version won't work.

How can you change apps store when you travel around the world?
After upgrading to IOS6, suddently my iPad has switch me to the greek apps store instead of leaving me into my canadian apps store.
Therefore, I cannot upgrade 60+ apps on my iPad.

It sounds like you are talking about the cloning tool?

Then when selected you can change the size of the brush and using Alt (windows) and Command (Mac) to select your region you want to copy then start to create you cloned image.

You are right, a lot of older dead podcasts do not belong in the podcasts section. But there is still a lot of these podcasts that have good information and deserve to still be listed. For example there is quite a few photography lesson based podcasts in which you can get good information from different sources. -
I want to install my original SnowLeopard (from the installation disc) to a partition I created in the now upgraded Mavericks OSX, How can I install it on the new partition?
That's easy.
2 methods:
1. Change the Startup Disk in System Preferences, then restart:
2. Hold down the "Option" key while starting or restarting the Mac. Then chosse the partition that you want to startup from.
The 1st mehtod is the quickest, because you don't have the additional step of choosing the drive. Plus, whatever you have selected in System Preferences becomes the default startup drive. -
