IFS root moved to /ifs/files in Apache

I set up iFS 1.1 to work with Apache on Solaris.
It took me a while to find out that the root of the iFS files was moved to http://myhost:7777/ifs/files (instead of http://myhost:7777/ on JWS).
I learned that you can shorten the path a bit to http://myhost:7777/files by adding the line "ApJServMount / /root" in the $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/JServ/etc/jserv.conf file.
I also found that you can change "files" to whatever you like by altering the Servlet Alias in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/JServ/etc/zone.properties.
But is there a way to totally get rid of this directory in the URL ?
Now the paths don't match between the HTTP interface and the others (FTP, SMB, ...) and I cannot use full pathnames in my JSP's or HTML.

hello --
i'm not aware of any straightforward way to map simply to "/" in JServ. you can probably do tricks like URL-rewriting through mod_rewrite in apache, but i think there could be pitfalls there as well.

  • IFS files portlet

Has anyone been able to load the iFS files portlet with Collab. Suite? I saw the portlet @ Oracle OPen World where the users files were listed on their default page in a directory structure layout. I registered a portlet provider and am able to load it but when I log into Collab. Suite I get a 500 internal server error. I'm able to at least test the portlet via http://<hostname>:<port>/files/portlet.

How did you register the portlet? In particular did you set the 'Provide Login Frequency' to once per user session?
    Hope that helps,

  • How to transmit my Login data to ifs/files application

    Hello,
I developed an J2EE application that I deployed under the OC4J_IFS container on a iAS server.
Within this application I have a login componnent implementing iFSHttpSession. This works perfect.
I store this instance inside the HttpSession as explained by Oracle to share it with other applications. (See the Insurance demo application)
Unfortunatly when i am logged in my application and in the same browser window put the URL <SERVER><PORT>:ifs/files, I have to re-login (The Ifs application seem not to check if the iFSHttpSession already exist)
is the login procedure of the iFS application not checking for this ??
What is the possibility to transmit mySession to ifs application ??
    thanks

  • ITunes moved my Movie Files

    Hi,
This may be a silly question but I have just realised that iTunes has moved my movie files. I had all my movies and TV shows saved on my hard drive and iTunes has moved these files to Library>Movies. It has kept the same folder structure that I was using but simply moved all files and folders.
    Why did it do this?
Is there a setting I should have enabled/disabled that would have prevented this from happening?
    regards.

These specific steps should apply to your setup:
Use File > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in folder "iTunes". This puts the media folder into the current layout.
Use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files. This copies in the mobile apps and any other files that might not have been consolidated.
Copy the files iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb & sentinel (hidden) and the folder Album Artwork from <Profile>/Music/iTunes to the <root> folder of your external drive Iomega_HDD. Ignore the xml file and other folders for now, they are taken care of elsewhere.
Option-start-iTunes and open the library file at Iomega_HDD/iTunes Library.itl.
    Check things work.
Close iTunes, rename the folder Iomega_HDD/iTunes as Iomega_HDD/iTunes Media, start iTunes, check the media folder is now called Iomega_HDD/iTunes Media, edit if not then close and reopen iTunes.
Close iTunes, create a folder called Iomega_HDD/iTunes, move the iTunes library files, Album Artwork & iTunes Media folders inside Iomega_HDD/iTunes.
Option-start-iTunes and open the library file at Iomega_HDD/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl, check the media folder is now called Iomega_HDD/iTunes/iTunes Media, edit if not then close and reopen iTunes.
Check things work again. Enjoy the music!
If at any stage things aren't working properly rewind the most recent change or ask for further help with details of exactly where you've got to.
These steps should get everything sorted with the minimum amount of copying.
Ideally you need a backup of the whole iTunes folder on another drive for security. Having set things up in this fashion it becomes easy to switch to the alternate copy if & when the need arises.
PS the folder currently at Iomega_HDD/iTunes/Album Artwork should be redundant and can be deleted.

  • I keep getting "startup disk full" message even when I already moved all my files/documents to an external hard disk

    Dear all,
What should I do? I keep getting the "startup disk full" message even when I already moved all my files and documents to an external hard disk.
    Thanks a heap.

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning your files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • How do I serve iBook file through Apache?

I moved a .ibooks file to a web folder on a Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server, and when I went to the link on my iPad, even though the book was 400MB, it loaded instantly a dialog-like page that asked if I wanted to open the iBook file in iBooks or another program. After clicking iBooks, it opened iBooks and started the download.
Using the newest Apache server on a different machine, however, doesn't do the same thing. It starts to download the whole book in the browser and display it as data and text.
What is different that's causing it to behave that way? I've added this to my Apache config:
    AddType application/x-ibooks+zip .ibooks
    But that didn't help out.
Any ideas? I haven't found a single thing online about this.

That's strange about the example. I can open it just fine in 8.2. Attached is the file in 8.2, so you should be able to open it.
Regarding the typecast: If you're transferring a file the file type is irrelevant. You're transferring bytes. The only typecast that is necessary is for when you have to presend the number of bytes that are about to be transferred/received. When you read the file using the binary file read functions you get exactly what you need to provide to the TCP Read. Take a look at the resaved example.

  • Authenication needed when moving or saving files to a folder

I've been online searching but can't find a resolution to disabling having to authenticate when moving or saving files to any folder.
I read something about using Terminal and tried the suggestion which was typing in
sudo chawn -R yourshortname . Then putting in my password when prompted. It either will not type my password or not accept it.
    Can anyone help? Thanks

You can't disable or correct it with that command. See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1216618 for more information.

  • How do I stream purchased movies to my Macbook Pro if I've already downloaded them and moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive and I'm away from home?

I recently added a number of movies to my iTunes library by redeeming digital copeis that came with Blu-rays. Due to limted disc space on my MacBook Pro, and for safe keeping, once I downloaded the movies, I moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive. When I'm home and I'm able to access that external HD via my home network, I'm able to watch the movies without an issue. However, if I'm away from home and I want to watch them, I'm not sure how to do that. I thought I could "stream" purchased movies from within iTunes  - even after downloading them - using "iTunes in the Cloud" but can't figure out how to do that, or it simply isn't possible.
    What are my options?

I understand that I can't play my downloaded movies when my external HDD is not connected becuase iTunes is looking for the downloaded files. This is not the issue. The issue is that because my HDD is not connected (as in when I'm away from home) I'd like to be able to stream the movies via the cloud.
If I hadn't downloaded the movies when I redeemed my codes, would I have been able to keep the movies online via Apple iCloud and watched them anytime by streaming them or must the movies be downloaded in order to be viewed on my MacBook?  I read that Apple allows movies purchased (or redeemed) via iTunes to be stored in the cloud via Apple iCloud so that they can be viewed any time, on any device.  IF this is the case, how does it work? From what I can see, it looks like movies can only be "streamed" from the cloud when useing Apple TV; on my iPhone and MacBook Pro, it looks like they need to be downloaded in order to be viewed.
Can someone clarify this for me?
Also - Michael - when you said that If I've already downloaded the film but I'm away from my external HDD I should "Delete the entry from the iTunes library so iTunes only sees the iTunes in the Cloud version", what exactly would this mean? Would this mean that I could then stream the movie from the cloud or would I have to re-download it to my Mac's internal HDD in order to watch it?
    Many thanks!

I have a Windows 7 laptop using I tunes 64 and all my music files are
on an external disc. I rarely use I tunes and at one point moved all my files
(including the music files) from one external disc to another without
considering what affect this would have on the I tunes library. When I eventually
attempted to use I tunes, every selected a song from the library resulted in a
message stating that the file couldn't be located. After following some of the procedures
explained in this community I was able to reconnect the library back to where
the associated music files are presently stored. However, there are still 2
problems that need to be corrected. 1) Every song file now has a duplicate. One
file works and the other file will result in the same message stating that the
file couldn't be located. Before there were 4,000 songs in the library, now
there are 8,000 songs. I need to eliminate the 4,000 dead song files. 2) All
the playlists are still associated with the dead song files which makes the
playlists unusable. Can the playlists be reconnected to the usable files
without manually having to recreate them? Thanks in advance for the help.

    So am I understanding correctly?
You used your iPod as a hard drive (drag and drop) instead of having iTunes install the music?
If you used drag and drop your choices are different than if you used iTunes to transfer.
    Good luck!

  • I moved by iTunes files to an external drive because I was changing computers. I then moved the files to the new computer. My iPod is not linking with the files on the computer.  What can I do?

I moved my iTunes files from my old computer to an external hard drive.  I then moved those files to the new computer. My computer and iPad are not linking up (recognizing each other?).  I installed the latest version of iTunes onto the new computer to see if that would help.  It did not--I got the message that an iPad can only be linked up with one computer and the new download would not work with this iPod.  So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPad.  What should I do to correct this?

Sorry, I had a typo.  The last sentence should have read "iPod" (iPad):  So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPod.  What should I do to correct this?

My iPhone has two identical options under "iTunes wi-fi sync" that are the same computer. I only have one user on my computer, and I tried moving my iTunes file in Finder to organize it and now my library's not synced with my phone. Help?

I have the same problem. Right now my iPhone 5S shows 3 instances of the computer to which it is connected under Settings » General » iTunes WiFi Sync. I'm having problems connecting and syncing, and this is probably the cause: the phone chooses one of these connections, and it isn't the one that's actually in use. What's probably happening is that the phone and computer establish a connection using a dynamic IP address, the address becomes "disassociated" due to error, another address is associated, the phone retains each address/link, and each link is displayed as if it represents a separate computer (the fact that the name of the computer is identical is ignored, as the only thing that is considered important is the IP address). But that's all conjecture. More important, I'm not sure how to fix the problem. A network reset doesn't do it.
