Ifweb60.EXE takes 99% of CPU

Sometimes, It seems randomly, one Form Server process becomes crazy and takes 99%
of CPU.
My configuration is:
Windows 2000 Server
9iAS
What can I do?

This can happen not just when the user closes the browser without exiting the Form, but if they do it while the client is blocked.
Under normal circumstances, if the client is waiting on the user (i.e. the cursor is flashing and the user could type or do something) then closing the browser without exiting the form is fine.
However if the user does some action, the client is blocked until the server returns. For instance, if you exectue a query, the client is blocked until the server processes the query, and returns some data to be displayed on the client.
If you close the browser while the client is blocked, the Forms client applet doesn't get the notification that the browser window has been closed. This can lead to the Forms backend process being orphaned, and it can consume a lot of CPU.
You should educate your users to exit the Form gracefully.

I have 3 tier setup. Database 81741 on windows2000 SP3. Webserver on windows2000 SP2 using forms6i patch 11(6.0.8.20.1). Clients using IE5.05/IE6 to access database. Sometimes, a user hangs the process and kills his session from his PC, even reboots client. The process is still there on webserver and goes on taking more CPU and more memory till it cloggs the webserver. It has taken almost 100%CPU. How can we eliminate this process without rebooting the webserver.
I tried killing the session from the database end, it is still there on webserver. The user says he waited for 2 mins to respond the application and then killed using ctrl-alt-del. Is there a way to kill the session on the webserver. When we try killing using Task Manager, it says 'access denied' and wouldn't let us kill. Even, tried with FORMS60_TIMEOUT. IN normal situation, this worked but in this case where a application hanged & user killed, FORMS60_TIMEOUT even didn't kill the process ifweb60.exe.
Someone has a idea how to prevent from rebooting webserver again and again...other than to check all 100 forms for any infinite loops and fix that.
    Thanks a lot.

I believe this is a known bug.
As a work-around you could try to add FORMS60_CATCHTERM=0 to the registry.
This probably will cause Dr. Watson on the webserver box, but should kill the process.
    Slava.

You can disable the plug-in container for one or two plug-ins, or for all the plug-ins it works for. <br />

  • Oracle.exe is consuming 100% cpu o windows

    Hi,
We have 6 oracle 10g database on windows box and from task manager we are able to see oracle.exe is consuming 100% cpu
Need to know this oracle.exe belongs to which database and can i get the sql for this process
    Thanks

On my Vista PC, I find that the easiest way to identify which instance an oracle.exe is, is the task manager. On the Processes tab, right-click the oracle.exe and then click Go To Service(s) and that takes me to the OracleServiceORCL or whichever insance it is.
I'm sure there is a better way that a Windows person could tell us about. Then having identified the instance, it is just normal tuning from there.

  • Service ifweb90.exe is using 90% cpu on my AS

    Hi All,
I am facing very typical problem. My Oracle application got stuck which is hosted on my Oracle application server. After that i am not in the position to do any thing on server because it was too slow and almost not responding.we have restarted the OS which takes too much time and after 2 forcefull start it got started then we started all the services and now its running OK.
Now basically I want to know about wat exactly happened????
Is It OS level problem OR Hardware level or my application server requires any tunning.
    Thanks,
    Rishikesh

Since you said .exe, it's Windows. I vaguely remember if a port is being taken, this process will keep spinning. Does task manager say it's mostly using kernel instead of user CPU? (Go to View -> Show Kernel Times)
Is the application really working but it's slow even though ifweb90.exe is using 90% CPU? Or it's not working at all.

  • Oracle 9i AS Forms Service - ifWeb60.exe

    Hi,
I have an issue while running Oracle Forms 6i applications on Oracle 9iAS. For each access to the application the application server instantiates a new ifweb60.exe process which consumes on an average of 15-30 MB of Memory. As the number of users increase on the application server, the number of instances of ifweb60.exe is so high that the forms service goes down unable to withstand the load. Kindly help me out on this situation.
    Thanks in advance.
    Venkatesh

This is infact correct. Each user will start up a process; however because each user is running the same application, Forms will share the common information (e.g. Form layout, trigger code)..So the more users you have the more sharing that goes on.
Be also aware that reading the memory for a single user and applying that to a higher number of users is seriously flawed. When there is no contention for memory (which will be the case for a single user) the OS may allocate much more memory than is needed...
There are papers on otn.oracle.com/products/forms that show how you should correctly size an application.

  • Ifweb60.exe crash when using file upload utility

    Hello,
I have implemented the file upload utility in my own forms. When using the file upload for the first time in my forms session everything works fine. But when i try to start it again (within the same forms session) i get an ifweb60.exe crash on the server and a FRM-92101 error on the forms client

Can anybody tell us what might be the problem here ?

    Hello community!

This started happening a couple of days ago, and I cannot remember any action from my part that might have triggered this problem; one day it was perfect, the other day it had the problem.

    Hi,
Since this started happening a couple of days ago, have you installed some 3rd party software recently? That may cause this issue.
Please try clean boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us
I also suggest you use Process Explorer to capture the abnormal process.
    Please refer to this blog:

  • The plugin-container.exe is using 100% cpu usage???

After I open a few different pages or tabs within the pages, the plugin-container.exe max's my cpu usage and the system hangs horribly. It comes back and then hangs again. The plugin-container is reasonable new, because I don't recall seeing it in the Task Manager. Is there a way to fix this?? I know it's related to some apple piece of garbage software that I could totally do without if that helps.
    Thanks

Plugin-container was introduced in Firefox 3.6.4 to run certain plugins in isolation from the browser, so that when an offending plugin crashes, it does not crash the entire browser, just the tab with the offending plugin. There is information about plugin-container and a method to disable plugin-container in the following article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins
If you disable plugin-container, your entire browser will crash if a plugin crashes. If you choose to disable plugin-container, restart Firefox to be sure that plugin-container closes; once started, plugin-container remains open until you restart Firefox.

  • Firefox will not install on XP, hangs after extract, setup.exe at 100% of CPU

Did full FF unistall, ran CCleaner, cleaned registry of any mention of FF or Mozilla, rebooted. Downloaded FF 21, 22 and 24, all have same problem: Install extracts all the files to C:\Temp\7Z..., then runs setup.exe, but setup.exe consumes 95+ of CPU for an hour, but does not install anything. Tried in Win XP Pro SP3 Safe Mode, same issue. Machine runs OK otherwise, can use other browsers w/o problem. If I kill the FF setup.exe, machine returns to normal w/o reboot. C: drive has ample space.
Also tried killing all unneeded services and programs before running install, but that does not help.
(It is not the machine from which I am writing this message, so the Automatically Add does not apply.)
    Real puzzler!

?? How would you know that the machine had any plugins at all? FF was completely unisntalled and there is no pluginreg.dat file, no profiles, nichts.

  • Weblogic.socket.PosixSocketMuxer.poll() take 25% of CPU into jvisualvm

    Hello,
I'm running a bench of my software and I reach the CPU limit of my 2 application servers. When I'm looking for what method is the most consuming using jvisualvm sampler plugin, I can see the
weblogic.socket.PosixSocketMuxer.poll() method take 25% of CPU.
I used to run some benches under Solaris, and I didn't see the DevPollSocketMuxer consuming like that.
And obvisouly, my servers are strong : 2 x3650M2 with 2xX5560 quad cores 2 threads (16 virtual CPU per servers)
    I'm using weblogic 10.3.4.
Could you please help me to give me some investigation tracks ?
    Best Regards,

Something spring to my mind when reading your initial post.
"And obvisouly, my servers are strong : 2 x3650M2 with 2xX5560 quad cores 2 threads (16 virtual CPU per servers)"
How many threads of the weblogic.socket.Muxer (weblogic.socket.PosixSocketMuxer) are there?
The native I/O muxer uses its own thread pool, i.e., it uses N + 1 threads by default, where N is the number of CPUs.
When running on multi-core CPUs that use hyper threading, it has an impact on the CPU count. In most cases, it makes
sense to reduce the number of muxer threads to eliminate the double counting of CPUs caused by hyper-threading.
    In your case (2xX5560 quad cores 2 threads) the number of muxer threads would be 2 * 4 * 2 + 1 = 17 threads
Too many native muxer threads can have an impact on performance and it very well could be that this is what you
are observing "and I reach the CPU limit of my 2 application servers". You can change the number of native CPU
threads by using the weblogic.SocketReaders system property and set it to 2 + 1 = 3 threads.

  • CORESERVICESD takes 90%-100% CPU about 5 minutes after every fresh start

So, coreservicesd process takes 90-100% cpu after a fresh start. It doesn't start immediately after login but about 3-5 minutes after, and it happens +every time+ i start my computer and it lasts about 10 minutes or so before it stops eating the cpu.
I haven't figured out any way to stop this behavior. I've reset smc, emptyed /Library/Caches, clean installed Snow Leopard (without restoring from Time Machine backup) but nothing seems to help.
Does anyone here know what to do in my situation or does anyone have any new ideas what should I try to do? I appreciate every response.

OK folks, problem solved. At least mine is. No coreservcesd eating cpu anymore! Hurray! This is the second time I boot and the computer seems to run perfectly. If the coreservicesd problem comes back I'll report here.
    So, what did I do:
    1. Changed from 64 bit kernel + extensions to 32 bit.
    2. Uninstalled SpiceRack and MozyHome Backup preference panes.
    3. Repaired Premissions
    4. Cleaned User Cache
    5. Cleaned System Cache
    6. Cleaned All Users Cache
    7. Rebuilt Launch Services
    8. Forced Empty Trash
    9. Removed Corrupt Preferences
    10. Updated Prebindings
    11. Reindexed Spotlight
    12. Cleaned Archived Logs
    13. Cleaned All Logs
    14. Flushed DNS Cache
    15. Removed .DS_Store Files
    16. Cleaned All Browser Caches
    17. Updated Whatis Database
    18. Updated Locate Database
    19. Cleaned Font Caches
    20. Booted from SL install dvd and ran Disk Utility's repaid disk & repair premissions.
After these operations my mac runs faster and all errors in the Console log are gone! All steps (except 1, 2 and 20) can be preformed with different maintenance apps. I used an app called MainMenu.
