IGNOREUniversalID keyword (Command Line Import Utility)

Hello,
I'm trying to import a MDL file with the command line import utility but the
import utility reports me an error because the keyword IGNOREUniversalID is
not recognized.
The next line appears in my parameters file
IGNOREUniversalID=Y
and Import Utility reports me
Error: MDL1116: Se ha encontrado la opci>n IGNOREUNIVERSALID no reconocida
Can you help me?
Thanks
Pedro Gallardo

Hello Igor,
I'm using OWB 9.0.3.35.1 Client and OWB Repository 9.0.3.0.1
The MDL come from OWB Repository 9.0.2.0.0 but I've done an upgrade of the MDL file exported.
The import process do not begin because the IGNOREUniversalID keyword is not recognized
by imp.bat process.
Thanks
Pedro Gallardo

    Angela,
    I am not understanding the DB user vs. Application Users.
    Are they the same?They are different concepts. The application user is the user that the application authenticated. The record for that user's account may be a database schema (user) or it may be a row in your own users table or it may be an entry in an LDAP directory or it may be something else. It's up to you as the developer to decide how you authenticate users as part of your application design.
    Is it because I am a developer that I get the DB login page? which is from the DB_users view ??I don't know what you're seeing exactly or what you're asking.
    When I run the application, I am taken to another login page.Another login page distinct from what other login page?
    Where are these users stored? or are they the same as the DB_Users?See above.
    Also, does all of the application users need a DB user account?No, as explained above. Your app can use database account credentials as the authentication method if you want that in which case each application user would need a database account.
    Read the "recap" section in my post here, especially after step 8 and see if that helps: Re: Priveleges to create procedures/functions in schemas

  • Command line -import and -codebase

    I am trying to import a web start app directly into the cache. This works fine and without any problems providing I hardcode the codebase to the directory containing the application files.
    Now as far as I understood it, when importing a web start application, if you specify the -codebase option it, and I quote,
    Replaces the codebase with <url> in the jnlp file specified when importing the resources. <url> must be a valid URL.
    What should the existing codebase in the jnlp file be to allow this process to work? I have tried using codebase="file:." and leaving the quotes empty, but nothing seems to work.
    Thanks.
    Jon

    The codebase in the jnlp file needs to be the codebase on the web for where to get updates.
    After the application is imported from the cdrom, each time it is run it will consult the codebase from the jnlp file to check on the timestamps of all non-versioned resouurces, and download any resources that have been updated.

    Hi,
    The most likely cause is that the export file has become corrupted. Are there very big export files?
    Another possibility is that Discoverer Administrator has run out of memory while parsing the file.

  • Import/Export tool Command line syntax for R2

    Would anyone please advise the syntax of command line import/export tool for XIR2?
    Read this post below for importing from a biar file but not sure how to export from BO into a biar file.
    How to log BIAR export/import from command line
    We're in fact trying to migrate from R2 into R3. The import wizard provided by BO doesn't work well with favorites and inboxes migration due to the large volume of data we need to migrate, hence looking for alternatives.
    Any advice around this line would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    GM

    Denis,
    Thanks for your reply. This at least saved my effort to explore further.
    Would you offer any advice for migrating large volume of personal folders from R2 into R3?
    We're integrating with AD, so everytime listing users for selection taking ages and often times out.
    Even if we managed to export the biar file for a group of users, exporting them into R3 fails quite often as well.
    The whole process is simply very unpredictable and unreliable.
    Thanks.

  • APEX Export using command line utility....

    Hi All,
    Just a question about the command line export utility for HTMLDB. It works great for exporting the application itself, is there any way to get it to export the application's CSS as well as any files such as javascript files etc...?
    Cheers, Henry

    There is no easy way to do this in Apex 2.0.
    The upcoming 2.2 release (due out in the next couple of months) has a full fledged deployment system (including table create DDL, files, images and seed data), all in a single SQL file. See http://apex.oracle.com/i22/doc/deployment_how.htm#CHDEAGDI

  • How to display the contents of a text file on the command line?

    I realize I need to utilize classes from the java.io.* package, but I don't know which ones to use exactly. This is what I would like to do in a nutshell:
    public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
    File inputFile = new File( <path to the file>);
    // code that reads data from the above file and is able to
    // append it to  a string object or display it on the command
    // line (System.out.println)
    }Thanks for your time!

    It's pretty easy. Here's a little example that reads a file, stores it in a string, and prints it to the command line.
    import java.io.*;
    public class OpenFile {
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              try {
                   File fileToOpen = new File("something.txt");
                   FileReader fileIn = new FileReader(fileToOpen);
                   BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fileIn);
                   String fileContent = new String();
                   String line;
                   while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) {
                        fileContent += line + "\n";
                   System.out.println(fileContent);
                   br.close();
              catch (IOException e) {
                   System.out.println("Exception: " + e);
    }Good luck,

  • Command Line Export/Import Utility

    Hi,
    Is there a way to perform a command line export/import as if you were doing this via the Oracle ApEx GUI?
    If so, what is involved?
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    To import using SQL*Plus you are limited to installing an application as the original application ID and into the original workspace (both being the IDs contained in the file itself in various places). You can connect as any schema assigned to the workspace so long as that schema is not also assigned to other workspaces. If it is, you can connect as SYS, SYSTEM, or the FLOWS_xxxxxx schema, options that should be reserved as a last resort because of the undesirability of connecting as these privileged accounts.

  • Importing .eex using Java Command Line on Unix (Licence required?)

    Hiall,
    We're looking into scripting our deploy process to reduce the amount of manual intervention required. We'll be importing the eex from a Unix box and was wondering what the licencing restrictions are on using the Java Command Line tools.
    Do we need a licence for them? Which kind? Desktop or Administrator?
    We already have Desktop licences but would rather not have to buy an additional one just for this process.
    Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Hi
    The Java Command Line Utility for the EUL is licensed with the Admin edition so you'll need to purchase at least one Admin license (at current prices these are $5,000 per administrator).
    Personally, I've always found scripting to be as much a manual process as entering the Admin tool and using the GUI interface.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Command Line Export/Import for ApEx

    Hi There,
    I was wondering if there is an ApEx Utility that allows the Export and Import of applications/pages/images/style sheets etc from the command line on a Linux box.
    I am using Oracle Application Express v3.0.1
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Tony,
    Another post in the past has discussed about this already.
    Exporting/Importing a *Bunch* of Applications
    John Scott wrote a blog post about this as well at [http://jes.blogs.shellprompt.net/2006/12/12/backing-up-your-applications/|http://jes.blogs.shellprompt.net/2006/12/12/backing-up-your-applications/]
    In short, you can use APEX utility - APEXExport to export and standard SQL to import.

  • Asus Laptop (G1, G2, G5, G70, G71) OLED display: Command line utility.

    Greetings.
    Yep. You did read the subject line properly. There is a new command line utility in town.
    To be more exact, there are two small utilities that I have designed for this little OLED -display. (Links at the end of this post)
    To anyone still in confusion, let me show you:
    Some Asus laptops comes with this neat little status display, but few softwares around to utilize them.
    Specially when it comes to the Linux operating system.
    What I've made here, is a simple and easy to use command line utility that communicates with the display.
    But it doesn't stay at "simple". It also has a few advanced features, which is described in detail in the README and their --help sections.
    With this utility and a bunch of simple pixmap images, anyone can easily create messages, animations and transitions without the need of deep knowledge of the underlying system.
    This makes it perfect for boot animations, event updates, status changes and alike.
    Short video-demostration:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i8Twa4h_iI
    X11 Pixmap Format
    To get starting, you need a set of pictures.
    You should, and is encouraged to create these yourself, and if you do, please share your creations with us here. I will update a list of your creations in this post accordingly.
    These utilities can, at the moment, only read xpm images. Most drawing programs can handle this today so hat shouldn't be a problem.
    There is a preferred format, but other formats are possible:
    *  Colordepth: 1 bit (Monocrome)
    *  Height: 32 pixels
    *  Width: 128 pixels (for G1 and G2) or 256 pixels (for G5, G70, G71 ...)
    There are a few prepackaged XPM images that can be used any way you see fit.
    GIMP is the tool I used to create the pictures and animations.
    Installation.
    To install: Read INSTALL. Keep in mind: 'bin' and 'conf' folder relies on eachother, so they should stay together. I plan to improve this, but that's another story.
    Permissions: Again. Read the 'INSTALL' file. You need rw-access to two class nodes:
    /sys/class/asus_oled/oled_1/picture
    /sys/class/asus_oled/oled_1/enabled
    Doesn't exist??? ... did you read the INSTALL and README?... aw... well.. here's a hint:
    # modprobe asus_oled && ls -l /sys/class/asus_oled/
    The module should already exist, and if you're running Arch Linux on that laptop with the default kernel, it's already loaded.
    The modules comes with the Linux kernel itself (Staging area). Nothing else needed to be done. Isn't that awesome?
    If you happen to run a custom kernel, reconfigure it and activate 'asus_oled' as a module. Recompile, install and eat icecream.
    (Icecream part is very important)
    Quickstart.
    Once you created your awesome xpm image, you want it to live on the OLED display. This is the command:
    $ asus_oled-ctl --static-picture My-Awesome-128x32-Pic.xpm
    Explanation: '--static-picture' just simply converts and loads a picture onto the display and exits. Nothing fancy really.
    You haven't created a picture yet? .... horrible drawing skills? ...
    Well ... *sigh* ... Try one of the prepacked pictures then. 128x32_archlinux-logo1.xpm should suffice.
    You find it under pictures/logos/
    Success? Yay! Have some more icecream!
    Next thing you might be interested in, is animations.
    Animations is pretty much just a series of static images inserted one after another in a rapid manner.
    So get to it and convert the whole Star Wars saga to a series of 128x32 monocrome XPM pictures...
    ... or just make a short animation of your liking... and SHARE IT!
    Need a neat command to show your animation skills on the display? Here it is:
    (NOTE: There's a bug that causes this utility to have serious trouble with spaces in paths and files. I'm aware of it. Just avoid spaces for now... )
    $ asus_oled-ctl --cycle 50,10 path/to/my/awesome/animation/*
    Explanation: '--cycle' cycles through all the pictures it's given. The argument '50,10' tells it to delay each frame 50 milliseconds, and loop through them 10 times.
    If you instead wanted one loop instead of 10 and decrease the speed to 100 milliseconds per frame? Just change it accordingly:
    $ asus_oled-ctl --cycle 100,1 path/to/my/awesome/animation/*
    Still a bit confused on how the animations should be set up?
    Have a look at the prepacked examples found under pictures/animations/
    Hey! why not test one of the examples out:
    $ asus_oled-ctl --cycle 50,10 pictures/animations/Arch-ripple_loop/*
    Want it to be endless? Set the loop part to 0, and it will loop forever, or until you run out of power. (You can hit CTRL+C to interrupt)
    $ asus_oled-ctl --cycle 50,0 pictures/animations/Arch-ripple_loop/*
    You might have noticed it took a few seconds before the animation started from the point you hit [Enter]. (And that it took some CPU to do it)
    It's because the utility have to convert the images to a more fitting format before it goes ahead.
    Fortunately, there's a remedy to that delay. It's called cached slots. What it means is that one can tell the utility to store the converted animation data in a storage slot for later use.
    Here's how to do it:
    Step 1: Convert your awesome animation, and store it into a named cache-slot called 'MyAwesomeAnimation'.
    $ asus_oled-ctl --generate-cache MyAwesomeAnimation path/to/my/awesome/animation/*
    It will crunch your pictures for a few seconds, and then exit normally.
    Wait.... WHAT??? ... You did convert Star Wars whole saga?... Wow!!!... That will take an eternity to crunch through... =O
    Once it's done (Hopefully this site still lives when it is) we can now see what cache slots we have in the storage:
    $ asus_oled-ctl --show-cache
    There's your Star Wars saga... *erh*.. awesome animation. If you did a full install, you might notice a few other slots too. You can test em out if you'd like.
    Now to play that cached animation:
    $ asus_oled-ctl --cycle 50,5,MyAwesomeAnimation
    Notice how the animation starts almost instantly this time. That's what cache is for.
    Want to delete any of thos annoying and horrible slots?
    $ asus_oled-ctl --delete-cache MyAwesomeAnimation
    Now a few other commands to try out and discover what they do:
    $ asus_oled-ctl --power off
    $ asus_oled-ctl --power on
    $ asus_oled-ctl --clear
    $ asus_oled-ctl --static-picture pictures/devel/ASUS-logo_reversed.xpm
    $ asus_oled-ctl --help
    $ xpm2asus_oled pictures/logos/128x32_archlinux-logo1.xpm
    $ xpm2asus_oled --output ansi pictures/logos/128x32_archlinux-logo1.xpm
    $ xpm2asus_oled --help
    I hope that I've introduced the utilities for you and awaken your interest in this otherwise useless little display with a neat ASUS-logo on it.
    Now get on to it and create some awesome logos and animations for us all to use.
