IIR Filter without using a loopm t

I'm trying to apply an IIR filter equation to a large array and for this reason I don't want to use a FOR loop - because it takes forever to get through the array. Is is possible to do this using array functions? I have done similar things for FIR filters but it's the use of previous output values that has me stumped.

Ken,
There are two VIs that should be available to help with this. Look for IIR Cascade Filter.vi and IIR Filter.vi. Both implement the filter with the coefficients being inputs. The difference is in the layout of the coefficients. IIR Filter.vi uses direct form, IIR Cascade Filter.vi uses cascaded 2nd or 4th order stages. The layout for both structures can be found in the online help.

How can I create a Glow without using a filter

I am creating an application for iPhone4, and one of the problems I am having is the lack of filter support.
I am trying to create a "stroke" around some bitmaps... an example would be a text field that is white on a bright background - I would put a black stroke around it to contract it... there are other needs as well, but this is an example.
Before, I would just put a glow filter on the text field, tweak the settings and it looked good and did exactly what I wanted.
But iPhone4 high resolution with gpu acceleration don't support filters - and I can't change those requirements... so any and all bitmap filters are out.
Does anyone know of a way I can create a glow filter effect without using filters that would not be a major preformance hit for fps and memory?

Have you tried using tweenMax and code in a glow effect.

Several ways to get similar results. Image > Adjustments > Posturize with low values similar to what you'd use n Cutout. This is the most flexible way I can think of as you keep the image in RGB mode with layers intact. A more radical approach would be to reduce bit depth using Indexed Colour. You'll need to experiment with settings, try changing Forced to Primaries, and Matte to Foreground Color. There's no going back from this route, although you can change the mode back to RGB to re-enable layers, adjustment layers etc.
A nice thing about the Filter gallery filters is that you can change the layer to a Smart object with all the control that gives you.
Now if only this forum could filter out bizarre content.

How to create "Filter- Render- Clouds" without using the filter....?

I'm trying to do something and it would take forever to explain. So I'll simplify my question, and I hope you guys know how to do this.
I want to create the same effects the filter called "Clouds" creates. This filter is found in the "Render" sub-menu under "Filter".
I've tried creating Noise, and then bluring it. I've tried painting blobs of white on black, blurring it, then using the "Sponge" filter with no luck.
So, again, a way to create the same effect using any method besides "Clouds" filter... to make it look near or very near to what the "Clouds" filter creates, without using that particular filter. I've spent about 3 hours attempting this with no luck.

Actually, it is not that hard to create clouds from scratch. The secret is to look at lots of real clouds to see how they work. But you can create some pretty good clouds with the render Clouds filter. Start with a canvas way bigger than your target image, and fill with the Render Clouds filter. Then use Free Transform to flatten and reshape it. Also use FT to add LOTS of perspective if you want to get that UltraWide lens look.
Where Render Clouds and FT falls short is that real clouds are layered, and surprisingly dark on their shadow side. But it is still doable with Dodge Burn and multiple cloud layers.
Not quite the sme thing, but I saw a really cool tutorial using clouds on Planet Photoshop a while back. Definitely worth a look at.

Question about setting opacity in DW Cs6, without using rgba

I prefer not to use html5/css3 until there are no more windows xp accessing the internet. However, the html5/css3 functions are pretty nifty and I would like to find a ie8 friendly way of doing similar stuff. I would like to set the opacity of my background colors between my <div></div> and not use rgba, but rather hex, but NOT change the text color at all. I would prefer to do it in the css editor rather than hand coding if possible. Is there a way to do this?
I'm new to the new stuff. Last time I built a site was back in 2007 using Frontpage 2003:)

Without using rgba, you would be stuck with the opacity atribute if wanted to just use css. The problem with the opacity attribute (and filter for IE) is they affect the entire html element they are applied to and its contents.
The only way to have a background with some opacity/transparency without using rgba for the background-color attribute is to use what Gramps points out. Create an image in Photoshop, add your color to a new layer, drop the opacity of the layer to the level you want. Remove any background layer (so you have just the checkerboard background with your partially transparent color over the top of it) then save it as a PNG-24.

Yes, It can be done, but for each drill level you will require one seperate report. Drilling can be achieved using OBIEE Report Navigation.
For eg. If I have to create a drill report which starts from Year and goes to QTR and then to Month level. That means I have to create 3 reports.
1. A year report which will have report data at year level (Consider Year, Product, Order_QTY and Order_Amt are the columns)
2. A QTR report which will have report data at Qtr level. This report will have Year column in filter section as IS PROMPTED (Consider Qtr, Product, Order_QTY and Order_Amt are the columns).
3. A Monthly report which will have report data at Month level. This report will have Year, Qtr column in filter section as IS PROMPTED (Consider Month, Product, Order_QTY and Order_Amt are the columns).
Then we can go to Yearly report and put the OBIEE navigation on Year column and our target report will be QTR report. Similarly in Qtrly report put the OBIEE navigation on QTR column and our Target report will be Monthly report.
This way you can impliment drilling without hierarchy.

O/p of butterworth filter and o/p of butterworthcoeff- cascade coeff- IIR filter is different?

I am designing a system wherein i need to make use of a IIR butterworth Low pass filter .
I tried implementing the same in Labview using 2 methods:
1st method:
Selected Signal processing-->Filters-->ButterworthFilter.vi
Got the o/p.... attached image 1--> Waveform
2nd method:
Selected Signal processing-->Filters--> Advanced IIR filter-->ButterworthCoefficients.vi-->CascadetoDirectCoefficients.vi -->IIRfilter.vi
Got the o/p...attached image 1--> Waveform Cascade Coefii
Both the o/ps differ from in each other if you apply for order 5, LPF, cut off: 35...samples : 250000....
Could you please let me know what difference is there in selecting either of the filter designing way.....
Please reply back asap as im stuck here and am confused....also im new to signal processing....so not sure abt the error im making...

Afternoon PSADSP,
I would dare to say it is possibly your implementation of these VI's that is giving you a difference in your results. The "Butterworth Filter.VI" uses the "Butterworth Coefficients.VI" and the "IIR Cascade Filter.VI" as sub vi's to do its thing.
Have another look at there VI's and post back if you still having issues.

How to migrate Master Data (Rule set etc.) from GRC 5.3 to 10.1 without using the "Migration Tool"

We are currently on GRC 5.3 SP 18 (Java ONLY) and migrating to GRC 10.1. I referred the Migration Guide which outlines that GRC 5.3 needs to be upgraded to SP 20 as pre-requisite for using the "Migration Tool" . Our BASIS team is reluctant to perform this upgrade from SP 18 to SP 20.
Having said thus, I'm exploring options of migrating data from 5.3 to 10.1 without using the "Migration Tool:.
Rule set Migration:
I'm in the process of preparing the 9 different files (listed below) and later utilize the "Upload Rule" option for migrating the Rule set data from 5.3 to 10.1.
While I'm able to gather data for most of the files I'm not sure how can I obtain the data pertaining to the two files (Function Actions and Function Permissions) underlined and highlighted in Red below.

6. Rule Set
7. Risk
8. Risk Description

I have done this successfully before. Because you are having issues, I would NOT recommend using the migration tool to move the ruleset. Instead:
1. Download the ruleset files from 5.3
2. The 5.3 tcode-permission file, which defines which tcode permissions from SU24 need to be checked during risk analysis, needs to be split into the two files you mention above in red.
FUNCTION_ACTION : this file represents S_TCODE objects and TCD fields mapped to each function (Function to Tcode relationship). In the 5.3 file, you will filter on object S_TCODE and field TCD, and you will get a complete list that now represents "FUNCTION_ACTION". BUT instead of having all the jumbled permission info, you will just have 3 columns: Function - Tcode - Status.
3. The remaining permissions that are left over, after taking out the S_TCODE -TCD items, represent the "FUNCTION_PERMISSION" file in GRC 10.
4. Manually create the excel spreadsheets for each file.
5. Copy and past each sheet to a unique .txt file.
6. Upload the ruleset manually through SPRO-->GRC-->Access Control-->Access Risk Analysis-->SoD Rules-->Upload SoD Rules.
7. Select each file and then upload to the correct Logical Group.
This is a huge pain, but it works. Let me know how this goes and if you need any assistance.

IIR filter, not contiguous, signal processing

Hello!
I am acquiring data countinuously from several voltage output sensors. I am sending the waveforms through an express vi filter (bandpass) and I am using the default setting for IIR filtering. The program is setup such that data acquisition is done with a while loop. The DAQ wile loop is inside of a bigger while loop which is related to program start and stop.
Every time I am doing data acqusition through the filter I get a warning that tell me the waveforms are not contiguous. Again, this is not flagged as an error but rather as a warning. The attached example might clarification.
The question is: is the IIR filter uses previous waveform information to judge the current waveform? If this is true, then I do not like the solution; if this is not true, the I should probably just ignore the warning...
Does the express vi has some type of reset that would activate when the whole program stops because I do not see the warning message first time I start the vi?

From your answer I deducted that whenever I restart the data acquisition while the main program is still running I'd better make sure I reset the filter such that it will now "know" that it is new data coming in. I did not have a chance to check inside the express vi yet but from what you are saying it must be some sort of reset button in there that I could 'pull out' in the connector block of the subvi..
The band widths I am using are anywhere between 100 Hz to 40000 Hz so the transient duration will be short to very short and the system, the way it is setup now, will allow enough time to the IIR filter to handle correctly new data.
Finally there is always the option to acquire just the raw data. later I could read it back and filter it if necessary. However, there are situations when I want to filter out noise and possible alising frequencies; moreover, I acquire vibrations and forces in the same time on the same board - if I need the 40kHz sampling rate for vibrations, automatically I will have it too for the "low end" signals as well (0 to 10V from power and force sensors). I believe doing some filtering and maybe some decimation after filtering will help me keep the amount of data low on the 'low end' signals side. Am I correct in my assumptions?

Where to add mac filter without template on Prime 2.0?

Can someone point me to where I should go to add mac filter under security>AAA in Prime 2.0 directly to controller without using templates? Check the screenshot attached. there is no option to add filter. It only give option to edit. Going to Classic view I see the add option is available. Puzzled. Any help is appreciated.

I am unabl eto find any way to configure mac-address filter without template. To configure with template you can go through the following steps-
Step 1 Choose Configure > Controller Template Launch Pad.
Step 2 Click MAC Filtering or choose Security > MAC Filtering from the left sidebar menu. The Security > MAC Filtering page appears.
Step 3 If you want to add a new template, choose Add Template from the Select a command drop-down list, and click Go. To modify an existing template, click the template name. The MAC Filtering template page appears.
Step 4 If you keep Import From File enabled, you must enter a file path or click Browse to navigate to the file path. The import file must be a CSV file with MAC address, profile name, interface, and description (such as 00:11:22:33:44:55, Profile1, management, test filter). If you unselect the Import from File check box, continue to Step 5. Otherwise, skip to Step 8.
The client MAC address appears.
Step 5 Choose the profile name to which this MAC filter is applied or choose the any Profile option.
Step 6 Use the drop-down list to choose from the available interface names.
Step 7 Enter a user-defined description of this interface. Skip to Step 9.
Step 8 If you want to override the existing template, select the Override existing templates check box.
Step 9 Click Save.

Reset an IIR Filter with new data

hello one and all, i am creating waveforms and pumping them into an IIR filter. at times the parameters of the experiment change and i want to reset the data that the IIR filter is drawing off of so that it is calculating from scratch. i know about the reset input of the IIR filter, however, it is for redesigning the filter coefficients, etc., as stated in the labview help file. so how do you tell the IIR filter that the waveforms coming in are now a new set of waveforms?

Hi Lucas,
I assume you are using the Digital IIR Filter.vi. The logic is not immediately obvious on the diagram of the instances of this VI, but there are two sorts of reset that can happen, namely a coefficient redesign, and a filter state reset. The coefficient redesign happens when either:
1. It is the first time the VI has been called
2. The reset control (on Digital IIR Filter.vi) is true
3. The dt value of the waveform changes from the previous iteration
4. The design specifications change from the previous iteration.
The filter state reset (which is what you want I think) will happen:
1. If there has been a coefficient redesign
2. If the timestamp of the last point of the previous waveform does not match the timestamp of the first point of the current waveform + dt. This is basically an assumption of continuity of the waveforms over consecutive calls to the VI.
I think you have two choices to get the behavior you want. First, you can use the continuity of the waveforms as a way of controlling the reset of the filter state. When you want a reset, then make the current waveform discontinuous. The second option would be to use the lower level VIs on the signal processing->filters->IIR palette. This allows you to explicitly separate the design and implementation of the filter on your diagram, with explicit reset control on the filter states.

How to display table data without using ALV and table element.

Hi,
        Its possible to display table data without using ALV and table element.
       Every time i am fetching data based on (customer,status) fields and displaying these data in my output using alv
       (every time i am fetching single row data ),
       But problem is alv occupying more space in the output , i want to display data part only i dont want field names,
       settings and header data etc..things.
      Give solution to display data part..

Does you mean that you need ALV without default Function Toolbar...? If this is the case, the easy solution would have been to use Table Element rather. But, if you need to use ALV only without Function Toolbar, you can do away with that as well.
In that case, after calling GET_MODEL, you need to add few more lines of codes to achieve your goal. Those lines are --
DATA LV_VALUE TYPE REF TO CL_SALV_WD_CONFIG_TABLE.
    LV_VALUE = LO_INTERFACECONTROLLER->GET_MODEL(
* Standard Filter Function setting to FALSE
    LV_VALUE->IF_SALV_WD_STD_FUNCTIONS~SET_SORT_COMPLEX_ALLOWED( ABAP_FALSE ).
    LV_VALUE->IF_SALV_WD_STD_FUNCTIONS~SET_FILTER_COMPLEX_ALLOWED( ABAP_FALSE ).
    LV_VALUE->IF_SALV_WD_STD_FUNCTIONS~SET_FILTER_FILTERLINE_ALLOWED( ABAP_FALSE ).
    LV_VALUE->IF_SALV_WD_STD_FUNCTIONS~SET_DISPLAY_SETTINGS_ALLOWED( ABAP_FALSE ).
    LV_VALUE->IF_SALV_WD_STD_FUNCTIONS~SET_VIEW_LIST_ALLOWED( ABAP_FALSE ).
    LV_VALUE->IF_SALV_WD_STD_FUNCTIONS~SET_SORT_HEADERCLICK_ALLOWED( ABAP_FALSE ).
    LV_VALUE->IF_SALV_WD_STD_FUNCTIONS~SET_HIERARCHY_ALLOWED( ABAP_FALSE ).

Here as you can easily notice that LV_VALUE is instantiated on CL_SALV_WD_CONFIG_TABLE. Now, using this LV_VALUE, you set standard functions as False to dis-allow their display.
