Illustrator CS4 exporting images with subtle grid overlaye

I've run in to a rather troubling issue where Illustrator seems to be exporting images with a very subtle white grid overlay.
The raw images do not have this grid, neither do the images as viewed in Illustrator.
The grid appears when exporting as .png and .jpg in a variety of resolutions.
Any ideas what's going on or how to remedy?

The images were part of a web mockup that was created in AI.
"Save for Web" did not change the outcome.
I defaulted to Photoshop, which fixed my immediate problem.. but still does not answer my question as to why this is now happening when I have completed this process trouble-free numerous times before.

  • How to save/export image with 3D grid

I am in CS6 with the 3D workspace selected. I need to export/save the image with the grid viewable. I know this is possible as I have seen it on a few other images. The catch is I need it 300 dpi so I cannot just screen shot as png.

I don't understand what's the problem? Can you please elaborate? Show some code snippets and tell where you stucks on.

  • Why does Illustrator CS4 save pdfs with clipping paths and make rasters of gradient areas

I am on a IMAC and upgraded to 10.6.8 Jan 2014. I am using CS4 Illustrator to create with. When i save my work as a pdf then reopen the pdf in Ill to make changes, the whole page has:
A.) Multiple clipping paths around it
B.) Most text has now become outlined. Not editable anymore.
C.) Gradient areas have multiple clipping paths of the single gradient area
D.) The gradient areas now become rasterized.
This is very frustrating as now all of my marketing files, some 300+, are worthless. I don't know where to look anymore to find the problem.
    Please help.
    Thank you very much

    John,
I have the presets as you have shown. I had been editing the supplied items as you suggested. Then figured i should ask the questions of those who are better than I.
But still a bit confused as to why the new save places clipping paths around the document.
Thank you John and Monika for your help.

I do a save as "pdf" in the format pull down tab. I save to a folder on the hard drive. Where is the "Illustrator editability" check box? I presumed it is in Acrobat some where
but i seem to be lost.
It is in Illustrator's Save Adobe PDF dialog, which pops up before the saved file is written.

Sorry i didn't mention this, but this seems to have occurred when using images and text from provided pdfs.
That's a critical fact. If you didn't do the original save, the above is moot, and it's too late to exercise any control over the save process. Someone else failed to save for editability. The only thing you can do is clean up/repair the content, (release clipping masks, rebuild rasterized elements, expand objects, etc.), and save correctly as AI. Then, if necessary, re-save as PDF with the correct settings.

  • Illustrator CS4: Exporting as cropped image, unable to define Crop Area or Crop to Artboard

Preface: I am using Adobe Illustrator CS4 Design Premium, Windows version.
I am currently designing some projects in Illustrator CS4. I am NOT using multiple artboards, only one. On previous versions of Illustrator, users could simply Export> an image as a JPG, and the image would be appropriately cropped to either the Document size, or predetermined Crop Area marks which were easily chosen in the Object dropdown menu.
Since the ever useful Object > set cropmarks function was removed with the advent of CS4, I am unable to Export an Illustrator file as a high-res JPG or TIF using the supposed Artboard as the cropmarks. In other words, when trying to export my project, the saved/exported image includes all content placed in the document, even material that extends beyond the Document size or Artboard size. Why is this? What am I overlooking?
In the Artboard dialogue or settings, I cannot locate any option to set the Artboard as the default crop area for Exporting, saving, and printing, etc.
After doing a bunch of research trying to find a fix, I have only discovered that there are thousands of other people posting on various forums regarding this same issue, so I think a detailed and complete explanation or instruction on how to do this would be very helpful and appreciated.
Other than in the Save For Web & Devices settings, there seems to be no options to Export using cropmarks, or export a file to be properly cropped to the Artboard dimensions. Again, I know this function is possible when Saving for Web, but not with a normal high resolution Export as a flattened image such as a jpg... or at least I can't find out how.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yeh this is pathetic and in my opinion a bug or false advertising. Since they haven't fixed it i believe this is false advertising and misleading for users who may have upgraded for this "feature".
I do know some CS2 users who are holding out from upgrading for this reason!!
I wonder what CEO's or higher ups would say if they heard or could understand this issue...How does program loose features meanwhile Adobe has how many billions in resources to fix these type of issues for their users who paid a pretty solid chunk for software that should work properly.
Need some competition to fire them up! (any alternatives to illustrator anyone actually using?)

  • Exporting images with subfolders by album name

    Hello,
I have a project with approx 800 images, organized in 12 different albums. Now I want to export all the images in a folder, which should contains 12 subfolders named with the original album names.
For example, I have a project named "friends" which contains 12 albums named "Emma", "Laura", "Tom", etc... A want to export in order to have this subfolders:
    Friends/Emma
    Friends/Laura
    Friends/Tom
I tried the export-versions option "subfolder format", but I'm not able to do that.
    Who can help me?
    Thank you,
    Paolo

    One last idea
you could color label the pics.
For example all images of Emma in the album "Emma" get a red label, all images of Laura get a blue label, ....
There a seven colors available like in Finder. This perfectly matches with your needs^^ Seven persons get a different color each, one person gets no color. So you have 8 criterias. Lucky you, not having nine people :P
Click on your project with all 800 pics and their different color labels, select all and export them.
Aperture now will give each exported image the same color label as it has in Aperture. After export has finished you can easily put the images in a corresponding folder based on the color label...
    Have fun

  • Exporting Images With Only Specific Metadata

How do I export images from Aperture with only specific metadata. Example: I want to export my images with only the copyright IPTC metadata (and maybe the keywords or contact info etc., but I don't want the world to see the EXIF data.
Aperture manual (page 507 I think) says to do this I need to make a separate version with only the metadata I want to appear. Er right? How does one do that then Apple!? I know how to make another version by the way, but how can I switch off/strip the exif, but keep the IPTC? Surely the monment I tick the include metadata checkbox in the Export panel and hit go this EXIF data will be inserted as it is inherent with the file?
    Can anyone enlighten me please?
    Kevin

Time to hit the Aperture feedback page. If you include metadata, you include the EXIF data.
About all you could do is export with no metadata, import the new 'stripped' file and then lift-n-stamp the IPTC data onto it, then export that.

  • Failed to export images with droplet

I've Created a droplet and tested it successfully in Photoshop, then I use this droplet by select it in Post-Processing when I export DNG to TIFF in Lightroom, but there's a problem:
    1. If PS is not opened when I'm exporting images in LR, the droplet will work well, i'll get an processed TIFF
    2. If PS is opened before  I'm exporting images in LR, the droplet won't work, then I get an unprocessed TIFF
Due to Situation 1, if PS is not opened when I'm exporting images and I tried to exported 30 images with droplet, finally I'll get only ONE image successfully processed, because PS was opened when LR export the  first image.
Is there any solution for this problem?
    Thanks!!

Thanks for reply. I think I found out the solution but I still not sure what the problem is.
At the first time, I choose "Edit in Photoshop" in Lightroom to Open the DNG file in PS, then I start recording actions, and end up these actions with "cmd-S" & "cmd-W", this proccessed image won't save to the original file (because that's a DNG), it will save to a new PSD file next to the DNG. I think this is why when I use this Droplet to proccess other images, it can't complete the proccess.
So the solution is to create droplet in a normal way, open images (not DNG or other RAW files) from Photoshop instead of Lightroom, so that the file could be saved to it's original file.
In my workflow, I export DNG images to TIFF and select droplet in Post-Proccessing, so after export these images, LR will put them into the droplet, I'll get the result by just one click. I also check "Add to This Catalog" so I can adjust them in LR later.
    Thanks a lot!!

  • Exported images with large blank areas

I exported RAW images from Aperture as JPEGs. In many of them, large blank areas appeared instead of the images (ie: the top half of the photo is blank, except for a few squares scattered throughout). Did anyone have a problem like this? How can I solve it?

Yes, I had a similar issue as have others. There was at least one thread ... worth doing a search. Blocks on export image etc. for subject.
I can't recall the "fix" as mine disappeared with either (a) 1.1 and/or (b) doing NOTHING but exports!
(Yup, on a Quad designed for multi-tasking, it is sad isn't it.)
However, as I said, I'm ostrich-like working around a problem that may no longer affect me.

  • Is it possible to use sliced images with fluid grids CS6?

I have 2 sliced images that I want to use in my page. The site has been designed with fluid grids CS6. As soon as the page is made smaller 1 of the images shrinks while the other remains the same size. Is there any way to make this work or is it just not possible using fluid grids?

    There's nothing on this page.
    http://www.lavishvegas.com/las_vegas_barsx.html
If you want images to rescale to device width, the parent container must be fluid (% width).
The images need a CSS max-width of 100%. DW does this for you when you create a Fluid Grid layout.
Also, the native image must be inserted into the HTML foreground  with no stated height or width attributes.  If you set the height/width, it won't rescale to viewport width.
    Working example:

  • LR not exporting images with proper presets

how come I can edit an image and then save it by exporting it with preset it looks way different when I reopen the file. and I am not talking little changes I mean crops through peoples faces and super contrasty. it there a better way to save the images to be burned on to a disk later? i just upgraded hoping it would stop this problem. guess what????

My guesses would be that either:
1 - You are Exporting your images in LR without using the sRGB profile and you should be, or
2 - You have a wide-gamut monitor and are viewing sRGB images in a non-color-managed application or at least one like IE that doesn’t respect a non-sRGB monitor profile.

  • Adding and /exporting/ image with Metadata problem

i have been able to add metadata to an image i need to publish but for some reason i am having a problem figuring out how to export this metada with the image.
i see i have an option to export as original or as version. does this affect whether metada has been exported?
also, can i export as PNG as get the metadata in the image or do i have to use something like jpg for some reason?
finally, is there a way to verify that the metadata has been exported along with the image to my desktop before i upload to the web?! it seems really sort of odd to have to re-import the image into Aperture to test the exported image to see if the metadata is there. i mean, i am glad i just did this with the image and metadata that i exported b/c the metadata is not there but it seems like this could be simpler.
    TIA

What export preset are you using? Did you check the box to include metadata. This is all in the manual. PNG has poor support for metadata so you're best sticking to Jpeg. You can check for the metadata in Preview, or an of a 100 other photo apps.

  • Export image with cursor legend

    Hello,
I need to export waveform graph to MS word. To do this I am using Invoke node property "Export Image". While doing this, only graph area is being exported and not with cursor legend. In my report I need to show certain cursor values. So please can anyone let me know, how to do this??
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!

I have the same behavior with LV86 and 2009.  Maybe you could use the invoke node Get Image.

  • How to export images with Project Name to be visable by Photo Mechanic.

    Hello all,
I am trying to create another complete set of my images, that can be edited by outside programs (Photo Mechanic and/or Lightroom). I am doing this by exporting the images out of a managed library. I want the Aperture "*Project name*" and Rating fields to be passed to Photo Mechanic. And then I want PM to be able to do queries on the Metadata fields containing the Aperture Project Name and Rating. My intention is to use Photo Mechanic to rename the images and relocate the images but still keep track of the Rating and Project Name.
In Aperture, when I add a custom metadata item under IPTC and export the image, that custom metadata item does not show up in PM or Bridge for that matter.
How can I export images and have the Rating and *Project Name* be exported and visible in PM or LR or Bridge?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dick B.

There is not an easy way but Ian Wood's tool might help you out.
Personally I would just use the "subfolder format" drop down options available in all of the export and relocate dialogs to sort them into directories that are based on Aperture project name - easy enough considering those other tools use file system based folders for there organization structure anyway.
