Illustrator slightly elongates images in the vertical in OS 10.5.6

For those of you who are claiming to have no problems in printing with 10.5.6, I would try this just to make sure. Your graphics may look right, but they may not actually be right.
When I make a perfect large circle, say 7" and I print it, it looks round until I take a measurement with a ruler horizontally and vertically. I find that my supposed round circle is actually longer in the vertical than the horizontal by about 3/8 inch, making it slightly oval shaped. If I check all my other graphics, I find the same thing. It is not that noticeable in most graphics, but it is there.
For what I do, I need the proportions to be exact, like they used to be. I am not sure where the problem lies.
I am using an Epson 2200 with Freehand MX and Illustrator CS4.

I still don't feel like we have verified that you have tried the true Epson driver, but I do think you have definitely learned that the Gutenprint drivers are a poor choice for you.
I have an Epson R2400, and so have not messed with any other than the full Epson driver for this printer. For my printer, both the full Epson driver and Easy Print are available, but I've never tried Easy Print to see what it does.
Printfab has a number of nice and useful features. I never really got color management down on the printers I used it with, but the driver still allowed me to use an older printer at a much higher level than Gutenprint (then Gimp Print) did.
For the record, Apple supplies the Gutenprint drivers, but Apple does not write them. They are from an open source project intended to allow a wide range of printers to work on various Unix systems, including Mac OSX. Gutenprint drivers have always been inferior to Epson drivers on any printer I have ever tried them on. You are probably going to be better off steering clear of them.
Printfab is a much higher quality driver, and since it includes Postscript RIP capabilities, you may find it works particularly well with Freehand and Illustrator.

Ed,
When you say "using the SDK", for most of us especially in this forum this means you are writing a plugin, in C++ language. Plan for a few spare months of hacking ...
To your rescue, scripting is handled next door in the Scripting forum. And I would encourage you to go there, you'll achieve your goal with maybe 20 lines of script.
Btw, JavaScript is a language that got almost nothing to do with Java. What you probably want is Adobe's JavaScript dialect named ExtendScript.

I have installed a trial of Adobe illustrator on my macbook pro. It is the 2014 release of adobe illustrator. I want to trace an image using the custom trace button.
I start a new document. Then I place my scanned pencil/colored pencil drawing, in to the document. I have tried scanning and then placing it as a jpeg, bitmap, and tiff file. I have tried scanning and then placing it, in color and in black and white. The scan mode I use is flatbed. Adobe illustrator allows me to select the default button and one of eleven preset buttons (e.g high fidelity photo), but it does not allow me to click the custom trace button. The custom trace button is grey while all the other buttons are white.
Does anyone have any ideas how I could custom trace?

It seems pointless to adjust it afterwards because it is then only a couple a pencil lines rather then a full drawing. And how do I adjust it afterwards? Would I do this using the different buttons under the window button?

Not sure if this will help, but what is your inDesign file's "Transparency Blend Space" set to? It's under the edit menu.
Also, when you are placing your images, are you selecting "Show Import Options" and making any selections there?

Illustrator CC (Mavericks) crashes when pasting images from the web.

I have read many forums of illustrator crashing, and most of them is about the Wacom tablet. I do have a tablet, so I uninstalled the software, but tried pasting an image from the web, and sure enough it crashed again.
Hope you can help me, because this is very frustrating

Umm, well, have you considered that this is the most rubbish workflow one can imagine? Seriously. Save the images locally from your browser and them import them using the place command and even that only after checking them in Photoshop. There could be any number of issues here like files being damaged or having crooked color profiles attached that make AI go kaboom... Again, it's simply a very, very bad workflow.

Right mouse click the song and select "Get Info", go to option tab and check both Start Time and Stop Time. Type in the Start and Stop time then click OK

Dynamic position of an image at the right bottom of the browser window

Dear Dreamweaver-community,
I'm trying to have an image positioned at the bottom right of a html-page. It is embedded in a table so that it doesn't interfere with the rest of the site's content (which it would if I simply used an absolute position). The height of the table is height=100% and I thought that this would make sure that if the browser window is being dragged smaller or bigger the image stays at the bottom right (just as the content stays centered if you set the width of a table to 100% and center it). But if you make the browser window higher the image won't keep sticking to the right bottom but will stay in one place while the rest of the page (bottom) is simply filled with the black background color. Do you have any ideas what I'm missing out on? Is there something like a valign-tag for a table or the page's body that dynamically keeps the image at the bottom right position no matter how you change the size of the window? I hope you can help me. Thank you!

I am creating a flash infographic, and want to fade images I have imported from Illustrator that are grouped. I would like to know how to fade these groups and multiple images at the same time.

the syntax is like this:

Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
If you want to back up the Photos only:
Export them using the File -> Export command.

Using a background image for the buttons in spry menu

Hi All,
Going nuts here.
I'm using the vertical spry menu widget w DW CS3 and trying
to alter the css style sheet, so that I can use a li class for each
of the 14 links on this page, with an upstate and a hover state
only. (the focus, and hover while down will be the same as the
others, to keep it simple and not too distracting)
The page is here that I will be replacing the entire
background image in sidebar1 and sidebar2 with a custom spry menu
with the 14 li classes for 2 seperate menus:

Save for web&.... the image exceeds the size for ....issue with AI on imac i7

Hi,
I just upgraded from using macbook Pro to Imac inte core i7 with 4GB. I use illustrator CS3 for high resolution documents i.e saving a Design for say maybe saving for iphone &ipod skin; a quality jpg that is 1300px(width) by 2000px(height.
General information
The issue is I keep getting the pop up with:
The image exceeds the size Save for Web was designed for. You may experience out of memory erros and slow performance. Are you sure you want to continue?
I click yes, but get another pop up with:
Could not complete this operation. The rastarized image exceeded the maximum bounds for save for web.
And last weekend after NOT being able to save anything I went and bought 16GB memory thinking that this ussue would be solved, but nada.
I have researched around here and google only to find about scratch disk: went to preferences then to plug-ins and scratch Disks -I seem NOT to get to the bottom of this at all.
And this morning I was trying to create a pattern Design and could not even get the design on the color swatches as I have done before with macbook pro with 4GB -IT'S NOT FUN, because I am NOT doing it right. Do you care to help me out?

Are you including a color profile? What metadata are you including with it?
How many pixels (h x v)?
50 kb is not all that big. Does your image have a lot of detail in it? Content can affect final compressed size.

How do I remove the "mirror" image on the front camera?

After I take photos on the front camera to say a "selfie" the image is then flipped and saved. I research online and people say it's what the camera sees (like looking into a mirror) and that's how we really look in real life but I can prove this to not be true!! Here is why, I have a beauty mark on my face on the left side and when I take a selfie my iPhone saves it to show it on the right!! And when I look into an actual mirror it's obviously on left where it should be not on the right!! IS THERE a way to remove this on the new iPhone?!? All apple product seem to do this!! iPhone, iPads even my Mac! But this not true on regular cameras. HELPPP this issue is making me not get another iPhone for I travel for a living and take tons of pics.

iPhone 5 plain. iOS 7.1.2. Virgin Mobile. Had it about a month.
I noticed that all of the selfies I had taken with Instagram were reversed. This was odd to realize; I have had the phone for a month, and when I see a reversed selfie it looks normal to me ... I part my hair on the left, and I didn't notice that all of my avatars for things had my hair parted on the wrong side. I was reviewing some Facebook photos and it was very obvious that some of my pics have my hair parted on the wrong side. It was kind of weird figuring out that the ones that looked right were the wrong ones...
So I played around a bit. With the built in camera app, when I am framing a selfie, it sure would be awkward to try to center yourself in the picture if the image wasn't reversed. I've had devices with front-facing cameras where you could un-reverse the image, and it is quite disorienting to try to center yourself. So I get WHY the image is reversed (one of the reasons at least). I noticed too that when I snap the selfie with the built-in camera app, that the picture un-mirrors as it takes. There is a brief animation as the image flips side-to-side.
For me and my phone/situation, it is when I use Instagram to take pictures from the front-facing camera. Instagram just seems to grab the actual image from the screen, and not do the un-mirroring that the built in photo app uses. So, my solution is to not use the Instagram app to snap the actual selfie, but to use the built in phone app to take it, then afterwards I open the photo in instagram and do my tweaking. Just slightly less than elegant for now, I am hoping that a future Instagram update will give you control on whether to un-mirror the front-facing camera. But I see this as my phone working correctly, and the app itself being the thing that is buggy. In my case.

Is it possible to use an image as the "base" of a mapviewer?

Hi,
I am trying to use a jpg image as the "base" of a mapviewer. After Insert the image, I create a "georaster theme" for it. Then, I create a "base map" by using the georaster theme created in the previous step. Up till now, both "georaster theme" and "base map" can be preview normally. After that, I create a "title layer" by using the "base map" which I created. However, only a write rectangle shown up when I preview the "title layer".
So, I wonder it is possible to make a map by using an image as it base? If yes, would you mind telling me how to make it done. And, what value should I input for the following parameter:
a) When I import an image in mapbuilder:
1) Top X coordinate , Top Y coordinate
2) X resolution, Y resolution
b) When I make a title layer:
1) Max X , Min X, Max Y, Min Y
2) Zoom in scale (Once I zoom in the image, the image is gone?? It's very strange)
Here's the property of that image:
Dimension = 288 * 175
Width = 288 pixels
Height = 175 pixels
Horizontal resolution = 72 dpi
Vertical resolution = 72 dpi

iMacs late 2009 or newer can be used in Target display
mode. Any older, no can do.
The only other way is via network Screen Sharing or
some otherVPN network like solution. The issue here
though is that video performance will be pretty severely
hampered.

Adding Images to the folders

Hello All,
Kindly let me know how I can attach an image to the Content Management folder and show the image along with the folder name on the portal? Do I have to use different UI?
Any Ideas or suggestion. I wanted the way just like http://service.sap.com homepage with images.

the "Entrypoint Exlorer" layoutset came in SP2 with Patch5. I think you can create yourself such a layout set in KM configuration.
For this do the following:
1. Create a Collection Renderer: Configuration -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Settings -> Collection Renderer Settings -> New
Use the following settings (some parameters might not exist in your SP version):
