I have moved from the UK to Germany and brought my iMac with me,
have get a german keyboard already but now wanted to get the system totally setup for this language, but don't know how.
also no internet connection yet, because my UK ISP doesn't work here

You're welcome, Miriam. I know bored mac folks who like to change the language all the time, finding it more interesting to deal with menus in unknown tongues. Go figure.

A gentle reminder. Unless you will be permanently resident in Canada and have a Canadian based banking/credit card arrangement you may not be able to buy from the Mac App store or iTunes.

Have you double checked to make sure these Audiobooks are configured to sync to your iPod from under the iPod's Books configuration tab in iTunes? This is assuming that the audiobooks are already stored in your iTunes library and appear under the Books category.
To access this configuration tab, plug in your iPod and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab. Now locate the Books tab across the top in the main iTunes window and select it. Here you can configure what and how audiobooks are synced to the device.
If you make any changes to this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button on in the lower right hand corner. This will sync the updated changes to your device.

Sadly, as Call Bliss uses the built in Do Not Disturb feature, it requires that your screen be locked in order to function.
I'm hoping (and have submitted feedback) that Apple will beef up DND to work even when the screen isn't locked.

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. I noticed this morning that someone had accessed my calendar and put a letter in there, it was an obvious scam as it was from outside and asking for money, how will they have accessed it and is there a way of stopping it? I only use my macbook at home

Not sure how this may have happened, have looked in my security settings and do note that the only program to share my calendar is google Chrome.
Any ideas how this may have been hacked?
I never take my macbook away from home and am rural so no driveby issues.

In calendar preferences it says share with and my share with was also set to gmail
the scammer send a message with a heading date and time and it popped up in my calendar - turned it off now so not hacked after all just clever on the part of the scammer!!

I have restored my iMac from backup and it will not boot

I restored my iMac from an external drive using time machine and when it restarts, it sit with the grey screen and petals rotating.
The restore was used as I had tried to share be two iTunes libararies and manged to loose the content links within iTunes, so thought the restore would take me back, pre user error.
I have tried. 3 different restore points and checked the disk, using disk utility, that was ok. Repaired the permissions ok on the disk and still the machine will not reboot.
It goes through the restore ok then just sits on the grey screen after reboot.
Any ideas or have I really screwed it up?

Reinstalled OSX lion overnight and recovered ok, most of the files were intact.
Would not let me use the migration tool from tm as it would nor show the bak up drive, even though it is backing up to it. Still miffed why the restore would not work, as the mac came with lion installed from new and I had backed up from day 1.
I do not have much faith in the tm backup. I just hope that if there is a next time, that I can retrieve my information.
I bought a mac thinking I would not be having theses issues, I hope this is nt a sign of things to come!

It's used as a security measure so being able to reset is probably unlikely.

As long as you are using the same iTunes Store account as you used when you originally bought the app, you can download it again for free. You have to click the "Buy" button and you will get a warning about your credit card being charged, but when you continue, you'll get an offer to download it again for free. Exporting 7 min. video from Aperture and received error. How can I get the original back?

I uploaded a video from my iphone 5 into Aperture and then I tried to export it to my desktop. After I clicked on Export, it attempted to export for a while but then gave me an error message saying that 0 of 1 videos was exported and it couldn't export. Now it shows the video in the album in Aperture, but it won't play and I can't do anything with it. I have tried to recall the original but it says there is no original and it says there are no referenced files when I try to reference the files. The clip also shows an arrow pointing to the right with a yellow triangle by it. This is located in the bottom right of the image, right next to the video icon. My concern is that I tried to export the original. Any ideas on how I can fix this and get the video back?

Is that the badge you are seeing? Then Aperture has lost the connection to the original video file.
Now it shows the video in the album in Aperture, but it won't play and I can't do anything with it. I have tried to recall the original but it says there is no original and it says there are no referenced files when I try to reference the files.
You tried to reconenct and locate the referenced file? Then you probably imported the video as "Managed" and then the commands for referenced files do not work.
Look directly into your Aperture library package, if the video is still there:
Select the Aperture Library in the Finder and ctrl-click(or right click) it.
Then select "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up.
In the Finder window that opens scroll down to the "Masters" folder and open its subfolder "2013" and then go to the month and day, when you imported your video. Do you see your video there, or any imports at all?
If you see the video in your library package, copy it to the Desktop, ad check, if you camn play it.
What do you see?
