IMac - online store order

Thought I would post the following just to get some general feedback — has to do with a somewhat strange response we’ve received from Apple in association with the recent iMac order:
My wife and I placed an order for a brand-new 27 inch iMac 13 days ago. In the interim, Apple has changed the shipping times on new orders from 3-4 weeks down to 1-3 days (as of last Friday) and now down to 24 hours (as of 12-24 hours ago).
So naturally my wife and I thought we would be receiving notification sometime during the past couple of days that our iMac would be shipping out.
No such luck.
Tracking the order online, it says it’s still expected to ship out March 26-March 30. (Configuration: 3.4 GHz Quad core, 3 TB Fusion drive, 8 GB RAM, 2 GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 680MX.)
After contacting Apple today, I was notified that they do not know why the order isn’t being shipped sooner and they cannot do anything regarding the order itself.
“So should I just cancel the order and place a new order?” was the question today. “After all, if it only takes 24 hours for shipping on the new order, might as well cancel this one and place a new one so we get it in just a few days time.”
The Apple representative did not advise this, saying it would take at least 5-7 business days for credit of the credit card we used, then we would need to start the process all over again.
Sorry, but I find this whole situation a bit frustrating, unnerving, and unusual… Especially for Apple.
My wife and I are of course willing to wait for the order to come in. But at the same time, we would think that Apple would go ahead and make sure all of the previously-ordered iMacs had been sent out before changing the online Store notification (3-4 weeks down to 1-3 days, down to 24 hours).
Any thoughts…?

In the USA, any custom configuration of the new 27" iMac will shoot up the delivery time by several weeks. They're already halfway through the estimated period of time to deliver a custom configured iMac. Cancelling doesn't make sense, unless they want one of the stock configurations, because they'll be resetting the clock to waiting 2-3 weeks.

    Some additional efforts you can try:
    Go to the System/Sharing preference pane and make sure Remote Apple Events is checked.
    If it is, uncheck it and then recheck and try ordering again.

    You may also be able to access https://store.apple.com/ in Safari, log into your account, and review recent purchases (and cancel any that haven't shipped yet).

    I've got the same problem.
    It wasn't the case before the upgrade to v 9.2 (Iphoto 11) yesterday.
    The previous solution preferences - advanced - "select a store" (last option) doesn't solve it anymore.

    I just purchased Logic Studio 9 from the online store.
    Under order status, it says "Processing".
    I was wondering how long it would take before the order goes through? Or the status atleast changes from "Processing" to "Shipping" or something...

    Yes I'm using Logic Studio on Lion right now. It all works fine in full 64bit Kernal and application mode. Although, none of my 3rd part plugins work. And my Novation 25SL MKII only works as a midi keyboard, its automap software does not work in Lion(yet).
    I was also going to purchase Komplet 7 and NI Maschine this weekend. But could not, as niether work in Lion yet either.
    So, if I was you, I would stick to Snow Leopard, until all the other software, hardwar and plugins are brought up to date to support Lion in 64bit mode.

    I am extremely surprised that on ordering an iPad2 last Thursday from the online store, and receiving it Friday (excellent delivery service nonetheless) I now find it is not iOS5 (after trying to buy, download and install Numbers). I have not yet upgraded to iOS5 on my iPods and iPhones due to issues experienced by friends so am reluctant to upgrade a brand new iPad after installing apps and content over the weekend.
    I am assuming I should have been shipped an iOS5 version?

    however iOS5 has been available in the UK for ages.
    6 weeks is far from "ages".
    The iPad you received was eithe Ron the pipeline getting shipped or simply sitting on a shelf when iOS 5 was released to the manufacturing plant before it could have iOS 5 installed.
    just wanted to get some help before the Customer Service phone lines open up during business hours!
    You are planning on calling about iOS 5 not being installed?
    If so, why not simply install it?
    There's no benefit to you or the factory doing it.

    So I ordered the Destiny PS4 Limited Edition online and set it for store pickup at the Chico, CA location.  I am just wondering if it will be able to be picked up for midnight release or not and even if that store is doing a midnight release for Destiny.

    Good question! Both in-store and online pre-orders can be picked up during the midnight opening events at participating locations. Our Chico, CA location is also slated to be hosting one, but full details can be found here. You should receive a pickup confirmation notice shortly before the event, so make sure to keep an eye on both your inbox and junk mail folders for additional communication.

  • Online pre-order never made it to the store

     Hi BBU,
     I placed an online pre-order for the "guilty gear xrd sign limited edition" for ps3 (sku: 9317061) on 11/20/14. A few days later I needed to change the payment method, but couldn't, so I had to place a new order for the same item on 12/11/14, and cancel the old order. For both orders I selected to have the item sent to Store 513 (Northlake, GA) for pick up.
       On the 22nd I received an email stating that the item would be ready for pick on the 23rd, which was the official release date for the game, but when I went to the store to pick the game up it wasn't there and nobody knew what happened to it. While I was still in the store I called the "888 best buy" number to see if I could get any information from them. They spoke to one of the associates in the store, who then told me that they would try to find out what happened to the item, and see if they could order a replacement. They said that they would call me later to update me on the situation, but they never called back. Later that day I called the 888 number again and the person I spoke to was able to contact the store again to try and get the situation sorted out. I was again told that the store would give me a call with more information, but that call never came.
       The next morning, 12/24, I received an email stating that the item was going to be available for pick up, and as of writing this the order status still shows "ready for pickup."  This time I called the store to verify, and once again they told me they didn't know where the item was or what happened to it. I then called the 888 number to see if I could get any information from them, but the person I spoke to was rude and barely let me finish explaining the situation. When I was finally able to finish explaining she simply told me there was nothing she could do since the item is out of stock, and I should just cancel the order and buy it somewhere else.
     I don't know if the order can be replaced, but I just wanted to know if I could get a more definitive answer from someone about what happened to my item so I can prevent this from happening again.

    Admittedly, I’m not too familiar with Guilty Gear Xrd –SIGN-, but I’ve seen a decent amount of posts about it! I know the Limited Editions of games like this are usually pretty sought after, so I’m very sorry to hear that you may not have received a copy, especially if you pre-ordered. I’m happy to research this and offer an explanation as to why this may have occurred.
    Using your email address on file for the forums, I was able to locate your pre-order. From what I can see, the pre-order has been cancelled, which is likely do to you not picking up your copy. Furthermore, it appears the stores in your area may have not received inventory for this title, which is likely due to inventory constraints since it’s a Limited Edition version of the game. When looking on BestBuy.com, I do also see the Limited Edition is sold out.
    Again, I sincerely apologize if you pre-ordered and didn’t receive a copy. We do our absolute best to fulfill all pre-orders placed with us, but, there may be times where constrained inventory may result in some pre-orders not being fulfilled.

    I am going through the same process! It is a nightmare doing anything with adobe. They make it as difficult as possible to get a refund and keep asking me if i want anothe program instead of a refund. They are making me jump through all kinds of hoops to get the refund and refuse to call me. They have ZERO customer service and the only reason they stay in business is because they have no real competitors. It's a shame, but I suggest you reprot them to the Better Business Bureau. I did.

    Which model did you order - the wifi only or 3G + wifi? Either way, they were just released to the public and they are selling like hotcakes. Hardly any stores, if any, have them in stock. Apple is having a hard time keeping up with demand.
    I pre-ordered my 64GB 3G + wifi model on April 18, just before the cutoff to have it delivered on April 30 so I was in the first group to actually get one. At this point, I would say that 2 weeks is pretty good for getting one.

    If it allows you to order it, then they will probably ship it when they get new stock in. If it doesn't let you order it then your answer is no.
