Image retreival from DB in jsp

hello
if you want to display 30 or so images on a page generated by a jsp, where the images come on the fly from a database.... do you get the images, send them to a tmp file and then write the location in the html in the jsp? is there a better way that you all use?
0

Or you can store images relative path from the context of your application and the put that path in the db and just query the db,retrieve the path info and create an image object..
Hope this helps

    You can use the JDBC API for database connectivity and you can use SQL to query the database.

  • URGENT-CREATE A HTML FILE WITH AN STRING INPUT FROM THE RUNNING JSP

    I am designing a web page where the user enters a page after entering his/her login and password.The User should now be provided with a display page containing the servers that he has permissions for access.The servers that he has permissions are maintained in a database(a normal text file in UNIX).
    Till now the program has been complete for displaying the servers that are available to him.
    I need to create a HTML form containing these servers names in a check box so that when the user clicks thcheck box against the server name it should go to the server and get the password for the required server.
    THe intention from me is to create a HTML file that dynamically takes values from the running JSP means the server names as a string value to its input and then i can continue
    Please guide me in creating a HTML form based on the string output from the running JSP
    FileInputStream fs = new FileInputStream("/root/Auth_Application/User_Access_List");
    DataInputStream in1 = new DataInputStream(fs);
    int fl=0;
    while (in1.available() !=0)
    String str1=in1.readLine();
    StringTokenizer st1 = new StringTokenizer(str1);
    String usernam=st1.nextToken();
    if (usernam.equals(uname))
    String ip=st1.nextToken();
    String host=st1.nextToken();
    fl=1;
    out.println("<tr><td>                                                                                              "+ host + "</td><td> " + ip +"</td></tr>");
    if (fl == 0)
    out.println("YOU HAVE NO SEVRER IN YOUR PROFILE !");
    in1.close();
    The host string here is the server name
    the ip is the ip address of the server
    Need to input these values to another HTML page that contains the check box list of the servers .
    once these are clicked i think i can pass on this to another JSP and retreive passwords
    Please guide me in this

    FileInputStream fs = new FileInputStream("/root/Auth_Application/User_Access_List");
                                    DataInputStream in1 = new DataInputStream(fs);
                                    int fl=0;
                                    while (in1.available() !=0)
                                    String str1=in1.readLine();
                                    StringTokenizer st1 = new StringTokenizer(str1);
                                    String usernam=st1.nextToken();
                                    if (usernam.equals(uname))
                                    String ip=st1.nextToken();
                                    String host=st1.nextToken();
                                    fl=1;
                                    out.println("<tr><td>                                                                                              "+ host + "</td><td>          " + ip +"</td></tr>");
                                    if (fl == 0)
                                    out.println("YOU HAVE NO SERVER IN YOUR PROFILE !");
                                    in1.close();I feel sorry for the inconvenience that is caused as i am new to using these forums.
    I have here used a simple program to retreive the names of the servers that the users have acess to..
    I have here read the servername and server ip stored from a file in UNIX in the running JSP.Now i need to pass these string variables to HTML file and display it in a Check box format.the strings host and ip have to be passed to the input of the HTML file so that they can further be processed once they are clicked using another JSP.
    Can anybody please help me in Passing these strings from the running JSP and display it in a check box format

    Hard to say when you don't provide anything actually useful other than "its not working". I can only guess that your JSP needs to set a proper content-type. I would investigate using an image servlet in stead of your JSP:

              response.getOutputStream().flush();
         // close your result set, statement
         data.close();

    Don't use jsp for that, use servlet. because the jsp engine will send a blank lines to outPutStream corresponding to <%@ ...> tags and other contents included in your /html/base.jsp file before sending the image. The result will not be treated as a valid image by the browser.
    To test this, type directly showcontent.jsp on your browser, and view it source.

  • Retreiving OLE objects in JSP

    I have designed a database containing employee records.I have also stored pictures of employees as OLE objects in my database and i am using MS ACCESS as database.Now i need to retreive those stored pictures on a JSP.For that i require appropriate method of cursor to retreive the images stored as OLE objects..!!
    How can i do that?
    Or is there any other method of storing images in MS ACCESS and retreiving the same in JSP?

    not.
    You're not supposed to do anything with databases in JSP.
    You're also supposed to learn a lot more about JSP than you now know, as you seem under the impression that you can return binary and text data in the same response and have it all show up correctly.

  • How do you display images relative to a Portlet JSP page?

    For Welblogic Portal 7.0, I want to display a simple image (.gif) on a JSP page.
    The problem is that I need to use a 'hard coded' url to the image such as the following:
    <img src="portlets/test/images/test.gif" border="0" alt="Test 1">
    - OR -
    <img src="<webflow:createResourceURL resource="/portlets/test/images/test.gif" />"

    This makes the portlet less portable.
    My goal is to display an image relative to the current JSP Portlet page (in the test
    directory).
    Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
    In WL Portal 4.0 I used:
    <img src="<%=fixupRelativeURL(pathFromRequest(request) + "images/test.gif", request)%>"
    width=24 height=22 border=0 alt="test">
    This does not work anymore as fixupRelativeURL does not seem to exist in the 7.0

    Exactly what I was looking for!
    Thank you Subbu.

    Matt,
    There is an indirect way to achieve this.
    (a) In your portlet JSP, get the PortletState. There is an example in
    /framework/portlet.jsp.
    (b) Get the content URL for this portlet by calling
    portletState.getUrl(Portlet.URL_CONTENT).
    Depending on where your image is (with respect to the content URL), you
    can construct a new URL to the image. For example if your content is at
    at /portlets/myportlet/foo.jsp and your image is in at
    /portlets/myportlet/images/myimage.gif, you can reconctruct the latter
    from the first one.
    Once you do this, prepend the constructed URL with the web app context
    root (request.getContextPath()).
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem using Image Processor from Bridge

    I have been using the Image Processor to process photos from Bridge for quite some time. However, I recently received an error message when I try to initiate Image Processor from Bridge and I have not been able to find any help topics that address my problem: I select images in Bridge to process, then click "Tools>Photoshop>Image Processor". Photoshop opens and the familiar Image Processor dialog box opens. Item 1 in the dialog box says "Process files from Bridge only" and has the number of files I have selected in parenteses. I select the file type and other settings in #3, and preferences in #4. When I click "Run", I get an error message window that says: "Script Alert. There were no source files that could be opened by Photoshop". The Image Processor works if I open the files in Photoshop first, then run it by selecting "File>Scripts>Image Processor" and tell it to process all open files.
    Would someone be able to help me with this problem?
    Thanks, Larry

    Usually when it worked before and not now, and you have added no new software or hardware I recommend resetting the preferences.  Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the Bridge icon to start.  You should get a reset window with 3 options.

    Hi,
    you can connect to the server using UTL_HTTP.
    Then for each files you copy the response into a BLOB to be able to show it or to store it in a table.
    A piece of code :
    begin
       -- initialize the BLOB.
       dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_blob, false);
       -- path to the file
       l_url := 'http://your_server/your_file.jpg';
       -- begin retrieving the target.
       l_req := utl_http.begin_request(l_url);
       -- identify ourselves (some sites serve special pages for particular browsers)
       utl_http.set_header(l_req, 'User-Agent', 'Mozilla/4.0');
       -- start receiving the response.
       l_resp := utl_http.get_response(l_req);
       -- copy the response into the BLOB.
       begin
          loop
             utl_http.read_raw(l_resp, l_raw, 32767);
             dbms_lob.writeappend (l_blob, utl_raw.length(l_raw), l_raw);
          end loop;
          -- stop when exception end_of_body is raised
       exception
          when utl_http.end_of_body then
             utl_http.end_response(l_resp);
       end;
    end;It's a minimal example, you may need authentication, check l_resp.status_code, etc...
