IMAQdx change fps adquiring with USB camera

Hello,
Im working with Labview to process images captured with an USB camera. I would like to know how to change the adquiring conditions of the camera, in special the frame rate per second (fps), the video mode and the resolution. I need to change this parameters in real time, while the program is running.
Thank you.

Hello again!
I have yet not found a single camera where the frame rate was not changable. Maybe you need to change the video mode.
I have created some snippets for you to play with (attached). Drag and drop the images to a vi block diagram to copy the code (You might have to save the images to disk first).
Best regards

  • Continuing import problem with USB cameras.

In other threads people have discussed problems they are having with iMovie 7.1.1 in importing with USB cameras. I have had the same experience with my Sony CX-7 on two different MacBook Pros including a brand new one. Once in a while the camera will trigger the import page but usually not. Is this a bug Apple is aware of and working on?? Other suggestions for a fix or work around. Very frustrating.

Hmmm... I think there might be some sort of bug with the app regarding USB port connections. iMovie wouldn't even launch for me until I disconnected my 2 external drives. However, it seems that when I mount the external HD that's connected via firewire, iMovie is able to launch. But when it's the other external drive that's connected via USB that's mounted, that's when iMovie won't even open... And the weirdest thing is that, when the external HD that's mounted via USB is connected, just as you think the app has launched correctly, it sort of brings up an error message box that I can't even read for it just crashes immediately...

  • Taking a picture in LabVIEW with USB camera

    Hello:
I am trying to find a way to use a Logitech USB camera (or potentially a different USB camera - perhaps a more expensive Edmund Optics camera) to snap a picture in LabVIEW. I have NI Vision software installed as well as the IMAQ USB extension for Vision, but I'm not sure where to go from here. All I need to be able to do is to snap a photo within LabVIEW and have LabVIEW save it onto the hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Brad,
Some of the information in the thread linked above may be out of date.
Check out this article [Acquiring Images in LabVIEW Using a USB or an IEEE1394 (FireWire) Camera] for some advice on how to snap your pictures. If you already have the NI-IMAQdx drivers, you should be able to use these for acquisition (as long as the USB camera is DirectShow compliant).
If you do not have the NI-IMAQdx drivers, but you do have the Vision Development Module you will be able to download the Vision Acquisition Software which includes these drivers. The vision acquisition software can be found here: http://www.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/tech/lang/en/pg/1/sn/catnav:du,n8:13.79.7820,ssnav:s...
    I hope this helps!

  • How to permantly change from iSight to USB Cam

    Hi,
I have recently bought a new Creative HD Webcam, I can easily change this to become my default camera on iChat and Photobooth - no problem.
My problem arises on sites like Chatreoulette and Omegle, where it requires acceptance of Adobe Flash which is fine - but does not allow me the option to change the camera and automatically defaults to iSight which is very frustrating.
    Can anyone assist?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
That sounds like a USB 2.0  Camera (which would be UVC Compliant) connected via a Keyboad with only USB 1.1 version ports.

  • Change FPS rate with ActionScript?

I need to speed up a section of movie clip to 30 fps but I can't figure out how to do this in ActionScript. I tried changing it from the fps thing at the bottom of the timeline while I was inside the movie clip but when I exited the movie clip the fps rate was 30 for the main timeline. I thought it would be as such but I tried it anyway.

Learning how to find information is key to succeeding.
You need to becomne familiar with the Flash Help documentation.  In the top toolbar under the Help selection choose "Flash Help".  If you are using CS4, I am not familiar with how accessing the Help docs works (they have them online instead of locally), but if they function anywhere near similar to older versions, you should be able to select the sections you want to search (AS3) and enter your search term (frameRate).
Another excellent resource for Flash information is searching Google.  If you were to search Google using "AS3 frameRate" you might find someone has prepared a tutorial for you that shows up early in the search results.

  • Change fps and resolution in a Thorlabs DCC1645C camera

     Hello,
Im working with a DCC1645C camera with Labview. I need to programatically change the fps and the resolution, but if I try to do that with a property node: FrameRate, Width and heigh are only Readable attributes. Also, the video modes of the camera that are displayed in MAX are only a few modes and all of them has 1280x1024 and 10 fps.
When using the manufacturer software of the camera I am able to change both, resolution and fps. Also, Thorlabs gives some VIs to work with the camera, where the fps can be set, but I dont know how to use this VI in my program, where Im using IMAQdx to acquire the images.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
There is a function called IMAQ Resample where you can set the resolution of your image, there is no function to change the FPS settings, but you can set both attributes (FPS and resolution) using the property nodes that you found, they are read attributes but you can change them  to write,  just right click the property node and click on the "change to write" option on the drop down menu.
    Hope to help you.

  • IMAQdx and Mightex USB Camera

    Hello,
I'm having trouble getting my Mightex USB camera to work with Labview 2010 and IMAQdx.  Previously I installed their DirectShow drivers and was using Labview 8.5 with the IMAQ for USB package and everything worked fine.  Now I'm looking to operate the camera with Labview 2010, however running any of the IMAQdx example programs, such as Grab.vi in Labview 2010, throws an unidentified error.  To troubleshoot, I attempted to see if I could operate the camera using Measurement and Automation Explorer version 5.0.0f1.  The "NI-IMAQdx Devices" list populates with two entries:
    -cam1 : Mightex_BufferSource Filter
-Mightex CCD Camera : Mightex_BufferCCDSource Filter
When I click on either of these to try and access the camera, I get the following error: "Error 0x8007007E  The scarab quadrant number is invalid" which returns 0 results in google!
I've contacted Mightex. They are not using Labview 2010 but believe their DirectShow drivers are fine, and I know they are installed correctly because everything works with IMAQ for USB in Labview 8.5.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or clues as to where the problem could be?  Do their drivers need to be updated specifically for IMAQdx, or should the DirectShow drivers that worked with IMAQ for USB be sufficient to work with IMAQdx?
    Thanks for your help!

OK nevermind, I'm an idiot.  A mod can delete this thread or perhaps leave it up if you think it might be useful to someone someday.
I had changed the folder name where the camera software and drivers were located on my local computer after installing everything, and this is what messed everything up.  I reinstalled the DirectShow drivers and now everything works fine.

  • Which is better for usb camera between VISA and imaqdx in labview 2010?

i have done a program for usb camera to acquire images with imaqdx.
now i want to know which is better between VISA and  imaqdx in labview 2010?
    i didn't study visa before
    thans for help.

VISA is primarily used to communicate with instruments via GPIB/TCP-IP/Serial/USB. In order to use easily VISA with an instrument over USB the instrument must adhere to the USBTMC spec. A camera is not likely to have this. Otherwise you have to use USB RAW, and that requires detailed knowledge of the data that is transmitted by the instrument. Manufacturers rarely give this information out. Normally they will provide a DLL to communicate with the instrument.
Thus, in your case, VISA is not going to be an appropriate API to use for a USB camera.
Out of curiosity, what prompted this question?

  • USB camera problem - Error -2147024882 occurred at IMAQdx Open Camera.vi

    Hi,
I have just started to try and use a new USB camera (5MP) on LabVIEW and I am getting this error (Error -2147024882 occurred at IMAQdx Open Camera.vi) along with the message
LabVIEW:  (Hex 0x8007000E) Ran out of memory.
    =========================
NI System Configuration:  (Hex 0x8007000E) Out of memory.
Also MAX comes up with the error "0x8007000E Buffer size used is too small for minimum aquisition frame"
Is there a maximum camera resolution that MAX/LabVIEW can handle? Can I increase this buffer size?
I am using LabVIEW 2012 and MAX 5.5 on Windows 7 and the original MS LifeCam is working fine.
    Thanks in advance
    Ivan

    Hi IvanChurch,
-I've used your code and it's working fine in my pc.I was able to capture image using webcam. Seems no problem in this, still added delay in while to ensure proper delay is given for pc.
-Little bit of curious about your system config, particularly RAM size and free available during labview execution (can find this in Task Manager). Because if labview didn't have any free space during execution, it might be throwing this error.
-If the available free space is too low during execution, may be try clsong all other applications and try acquiring again.
Please revert back if the problem is not fixed
    Thanks

  • IMAQdx USB Camera low Resolution -- "For internet Use" Option?

    Hello,
I have a USB camera that is directshow compliant. The resolution of the camera should be close to 2600x2000 (not sure on exact). When I see available "Video Modes", the highest resolution is 352x288 resolution.
The company supplying the camera told me to uncheck "For internet Use" in the property Panel to help fix the resolution problem.
I don't see this option anywhere. I looked in the IMAQdx property node as well for any "internet attribute"
Any ideas on where this option is or how I can fix this poor resolution?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hello Lawrence,
I contacted the vendor and they sent me a "registration entries" file. To update you just open the file. I was using a Moticam camera and the original SDK didn't allow for some of the changes in the directshow driver so that is why they sent an update. If you are also using Moticam, I can send you the same file, otherwise, contact the vendor directly.

  • Simultaneous capture with usb and gige cameras ?

    Hi,
I am unable to capture (continuously) simultaneously from a USB and a GigE camera, is there a limitation in Labview ? Both cameras work if I use them one at a time. I am using Labview 2012. Both cameras are IMAQdx devices and I am using IMAQdx VIs.
    Thanks,
    Best,
    Saumil

I have just converted to low level, just in case. Not tested yet...
    USB camera: USB 2.0, 10 frames/sec, 1280x1024 -> about 13 MBytes/sec
    GigE camera: 300 frames/sec, 640x480 -> about 90 MBytes/sec
So both cameras data rates are within their respective interface limits. Although when I started to archive raw frames from the USB camera, everything in labview became super slow. The slowness was reduced dramatically once I started storing to compressed AVI files (rates went from 15 Mbytes to approx. 1.5 Mbytes/sec). I have not tested  archival with the GigE camera yet, I am expecting troubles, just dont know how severe.
    Thanks for your help,
    Saumil

  • How can I use a USB camera with cRIO 9022. Please see my strange problem.

    Hi,
I would like to use a USB camera with NI cRIO 9022. I used the same USB camera with NI USB 6216 DAQ device and developed a VI(within a PROJECT and outside it). So, It is working fine with NI USB 6216 device when I use the Vision Assistant Express VI and gets detected in its Initialization Window.  Please see JPEG File 3 where I get NO ERROR.
I am facing a problem when I want to use it with NI cRIO 9022. What exactly I am doing in this case is:
    1) Create a NEW PROJECT
    2) Add Targets and Devices(NI cRIO 9022)
    3) Use the Scan Interface mode
    4) Create a NEW VI under the cRIO 9022 device
    5) Use a Timed Loop(Synchronized with Scan Engine) for continuous Data Acquisition and Sending from the Analog I/O modules.
    6) Use the Vision Assistant available through the NI Vision Acquisition 2010 Module(I get STUCK HERE! The Express VI opens the Initialization Window, but I don't see the USB camera like in JPEG File 3)
I am facing difficulties with this HOST COMPUTER, cRIO implementation differences. On my host computer I have the software packages as shown in JPEG File 1, and on my cRIO 9022 as shown in JPEG File 2.
Can someone guide me how to overcome this and get the USB camera detected when I am using NI cRIO 9022?
NOTE: If this is a problem with software mismatches on HOST and NI cRIO 9022 device, please see JPEG Files 1 and 2 for available software and Host and cRIO 9022.
    Thanks.
    Amar.

  • Camera attached with USB - How to access the flash file system?

OK...this is maddening for someone that is so used to using a Windows file system that can be enumerated on any device, whether a hard disk or attached USB flash device. All I want to do (at this moment) is see the file system on the flash in my camera so I can delete certain images. None of the Leopard utilities seem to be able to access this as a "device". Perhaps this can be done from the terminal with Unix/Linux commands...not something that I want to do.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks.

This has more to do with the camera than OS X. Some cameras use communication protocols that do not play well with the Finder. For these cameras, support is built into iPhoto.
It is also built into the included Image Capture utility, which is more flexible than iPhoto in some ways for simple downloads. You can preview and select individual pics, and set the folder where the pictures go.

In the case of Canon it is lack of support for USB Mass Storage which almost all other brands do. But as stated it is much better and safer to use a card reader instead of the USB cable. A card reader always shows up on the desktop for drag-and-drop.
