IMessaging issues

Myself and my friend both had iPhones and were using iMessaging with no issues.  My friends phone broke and he is using another phone temporary.  My iphone still thinks my friend is using iphone and none of my messages are going through.  How can I make my iphone forget that my friend was using iphone?  I am having to go to settings and turn off imessage to send sms and then go back to settings and turn imessage back on.  When I have imessage on I have SMS on - which underneath says send SMS if imessage not available, but this does not send SMS instead.

Adding my name to the list. Same issues, same hardware. iPhone 4S will not login to Facetime or iMessage after updating to iOS 7, saying to check network connection and try again.
EDIT: to add, this happens whether connected via WiFi or cellular (4G).

Apple support asked me to reset my settings to fix my iMessage issue and not my iPhone is stuck in reset mode.  It won't sync with my iTunes and it won't allow me to move past that reset screen to even use my phone.

Anyone out there have this issue, I'd really love some help/guidance.
Everytime I restart, force quit mail, restart in safe mode, and regular mode, when I reopen the Mail application, it goes right to the Upgrade Mail database screen and goes right back to the same spot it has been since I downloaded Mountain Lion and initislly opened the Mail app. It only goes to the Upgrade option, or can quit and Upgrade later. It is stuck in the middle of the Upgrade of my mail database...this blows!!!

iMessage issue: Changed password for my Apple ID this morning and now my iMessage is sending through my email instead of my number and I haven't been receiving any texts through iMessage! I read the article, followed the steps, and it did not fix the problem. Help?

    Hello!
On all of these devices, go to: Settings > iCloud and make sure they're updated with the new password. If you're talking about Macs, go to: "System Preferences > iCloud" too.

  • IMessage issues Help!!

    Hi all,
I bought me and my partner an iPad for christmas and since starting them up for the very first time and setting up iMessage and Facetime it has been working perfectly until a few days ago.
Normally I would send a message to her either on my iPad or my iPhone and she would get it. It would even sync with whichever device I hadn't used. But now it is hit and miss as to whether we receive the messages or not - despite the fact it say Message Delivered!!
My partner has reset her iPad and reconnected to her network (in France by the way) but it will not let her use the email address that she originally used to set up her Apple account. It says that the account  is unavailable or in use. All so, she has sent me messages over the past week and I seem to get one or two of them every now and again. In the mean time she has created a new email address to use on iMessage and it worked fine last night but today it seems to be down again.
I myself have made sure all my usernames, emails and passwords are all correct. I even reset the network settings last night and still this seems to have no effect. When I try and face time her it says that the email address is available at this time.
Can anybody please try and shed some light on this issue. This is the only way for us to keep in touch without racking up an enormous phone bill!!
    Many Thanks
    Chris

  • Imessage issues when no data connection

    Hi,
I have noticed this behavior a few times already and I am wondering if there is any solution for it.
Best to explain with a real live example.
My in-laws just traveled abroad to visit family. When in our home country, the Netherlands, we use iMessage to keep in touch and works like a charm. Mainly because we (me and my wife, as well as both my in-laws have a data connection, either wifi or 3g)
Now they are abroad and to prevent them from being charged data roaming, data roaming is switched of.
    Now here is the issue:
I sent a message to my mother in law and it was sent as an imessage (blue bubble) I did sent it to her phonenumber, but still it was sent as an imessage. Meaning she did not recieve this message and neither did the message fall back to be sent as a text message, also I didn't got notified that the message wasn't delivered.
They just enabled wifi at their destination and voila, my message is delivered. So if they wouldn't be able to get a data connection, this message would never have been recieved at all.
I have sent as text message switched on, but as far as I know this only counts if I don't have a data connection....
    Regards,
    Ron

Hi, thanks yes, I eventually found this setting. It's more that almost everyone else I know hasn't changed this setting on their phone and so I'm missing lots of iMessages when I don't have data. I'm just wondering if Apple changed the default setting in the iOS 7 upgrade?

  • IMessage issues on contacts associated with two different mobile numbers

    Hello together,
currently i am facing the following issue:
I have a contact "Max Mustermann" associated with to different mobile numbers. Number 1 is a number belonging to his business mobile phone which is an iPhone. Number 2 belongs to his private Android device.
Since I updated to iOS 7.0.2 my iPhones sends every message (new message, answers) to the iPhone, regadless if he sends me a text message from his Android device.  During my throubleshooting I tried to delete his business number from contacts, deleted every mail adress associated with his contact, recreate the contact with the same name and just the private number. As for now I completely deleted his contact on my iPhone and tried to send the text message directly to the mobile number of his Android device. But still the same: Message is send as iMessage to his business mobile phone...
Anybody faced this issue before and can me help with his?
    Regards,
    Tim

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered
    Go here > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
Manage your Apple ID and see if that does the trick
    Hope that helps

  • IMessages issues on Macbook pro

Hi, my MAC used to let me use imessage from my computer, but one day it unexpectedly quit. I tried to go back in and set it up, but it does not list my phone under my families apple id.It also says that the outgoing messages would be coming from a different number. What is the problem?

I just signed up for the Photoshop / Lightroom monthly subscription... and downloaded the Adobe desktop app for both my desktop and laptop Mac machines.  All went smoothly but I also am having issue that it is not recognizing that I have paid for usage.  It asked if I wanted the trial, and as I had work needing to be completed I did accept that as a last resort so I could complete it.  But, now that I have had time to go back and investigate... I have checked my account, re-downloaded everything and still is not working under subscription.  What a waste of a month!  Yeah, it is only $10 but hey... I expected more.
The reason for my monthly purchase was because I had purchased Adobe Element 10 through the APP store several years ago and with clearing and rebuilding my computers it will not let me download the app that I paid for originally be cause now there is a new version... I was perfectly happy with the version I had for my needs which are less than high quality photo processing.  I feel like I am caught in a money grab.

  • IMessage issue to be linked to my phone number

    Dear Apple Support team,
Recently I have changed my phone operator along with my iPhone to the new i5s and been facing some issues to activate my iMessage along with my phone number. It works perfectly via my Apple ID but no link to my phone number which is very annoying. I have checked in the phone and noticed that under "My Number" it shows UNKNOWN and I reached my operator "Omantell" about it and they told me that they cannot do anything about it because this feature is blocked by Apple!
Is there any way to unblock this feature so I can identify my phone number and use iMessage normally.
    Your support is highly appreciated!

    Hi gracefromsa,
Check your settings: Settings>General>Messages> click on Send and Receive, scroll down to where it says "Start New Conversations From"....
If your email is checked there, then check your Phone Number instead.
    Cheers,

  • Group iMessage Issues?

Is anyone else having issues with iMessage in iOS 8? Here are the problems I am having:
    - Some group messages are sent as iMessages and some are not, even though everyone in the group has an iPhone
    - Group messages are randomly adding or removing participants, even though no one in the group added or deleted the individual.
    - The names at the top of the message, do not always reflect who the group is being communicated with.
Any thoughts on what may be causing the issues? It is rather frustrating for those involved in the communications.

I've seen all of these things, and just recently now some of the group message members are not receiving all of the messages, so they're left unsure what people are responding to if they missed the messages before. A nice feature.
I was however able to confirm that it is does not seem to be related to iOS 8.xx since users running iOS 7.1.2 are missing some of these messages too.

  • IPhone and iPad iMessage issues...

I'm having a bit of an issue here and I assume it's on my end. Out of the blue, and only with particular contacts, a handful, when I message them my message goes through as an iMessage however they can only respond as a text. This happens on my iPhone and iPad. However, if I send using a default email to start the conversation, it works fine. So it's just with my phone number. Everyone else in my address book who has iMessage has absolutely no issues with this. I am at a loss. Myself and the people who this is happening to has turned off and on iMessage, restarted our devices, reset some settings, deleted the contact info and added new and nothing seems to work. If anyone has any ideas, I would be very appreciative of it.
    Thank you.

  • FaceTime and iMessage issue

I am unable to log in to either FaceTime or iMessage. It says to check my internet connection. I am unable to access preferences in FaceTime. It is grayed out. My wireless is working just fine. I can access both on my ipad and iphone, so it is a MacBook Air issue. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if it frightens you, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • IMessage issue. (Urgent)

Whenever I try to open iMessage it just loads for a bit, then returns me to my home screen. The only thing that I did prior to this issue, was make a very, very, large emoticon message (Causing it to crash) . I have tried signing out, signing back in, closing iMessage, and restarting my iPad. I use iMessage quite a lot so this needs to be fixed ASAP.
    I am using a 3rd gen. 16gb white model.most current firmware.

Have you tried disabling and re-enabling imessages in settings? (that's settings>messages>iMessage (on/off))
Hope it works, I use messages a lot too.

  • IMessage issues after 7.1.2 update

I Updated my software to 7.1.2 on my iPad mini and now I do not receive my iMessages as I should and my sent messages are not being received on real time. They show up minutes late but are time stamped for the time the sender sent them. Sometimes up to 12 minutes difference. I have restarted my iPad mini along with shutting off and on iMessage app, cellular data and wi-fi. Nothing changed. It doesn't appear to matter if it is on cellular or wifi and what's worse is it doesn't happen for every single message so I can't pinpoint the problem...
is this an iMessage only issue or an update issue? It was working fine minutes before I did the update,  coincidence?

    Hey Abattle22,
Thanks for the question. I understand that your iMessages are acting up after updating to iOS 7.1.2. It sounds like your messages are going through, but are somewhat delayed. Is that correct?
To troubleshoot this issue, see the following resource for helpful steps:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
    1. Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
    3. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshootcellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
    4. iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    5. Restart your device.
    6. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
    3. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    4. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    5. Back up and restore your device as new.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Ios 5.1 imessage issues

I have 3 iphones (4S models) that all have had the same appleID.  This hasn't been an issue up to this point, and allowed easy sharing of apps, movies and music.
After the latest 5.1 update, imessage is very erradic.  Prior to the update, iMessages (presumably using the CallerID function) could be sent from any of the phones and the sent message would be associated with phone number, and therefore the reciever would see it as a message from the appropriate person.
After the update, iMessages recieved indicate that they are from the appleID (even though the callerID is set to the phone number) and sometimes they say that they are from "Vociemail" (if sent to another phone with the same appleID.
I've done a hard reset, turned Imessaging on/off and haven't found a solution.
    Any thoughts?
    thanks
    joe

since upgrading to IOS 5.1 it seems iMessage doesn't work when on WIFI only... everything stalls out and then says in red letters "not delivered".  Very frustrating as I use this all the time on gogo while flying every week.  sounds like we're stuck wating for Apple to fix.  I'm really losing faith in Apple's testing dept when it comes to upgrades.  I'm waiting on these upgrades from now on!!!  First the Lion mess, now this.  Come on guys...find these issues before you launch!!!
