IMP-00010: & IMP-00000

Hi
i got the foll errors during import of dmp from 9.x datbase
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
the database was exportted using 9.2.0.1.0 version and imported on 8.x version. i went thr the link below on metalink
http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=176668.1
and both the database seem to have got exp_full_database and imp_full_database role which means catexp.sql is been run for both the database
do we have to run again this catexp.sql before export and import
thx
kedar

hi
i ran the catexp.sql from 8.x on 9.x database connecting as user sys
after i ran the export command
exp chealth1/pwd@service file=temp1.dmp tables=(postcode8) i got followong errors

  • Import (imp) failing with IMP-00010 error

    Hi Experts,
    I am doing import to Windows from an export dump that was taken on Solaris 10. But the import is failing with the following error.
    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
    I checked the source and target oracle versions and NLS_LANG parameter.
    In both the databases NLS_LANG parameter is set to AMERICAN only. But the oracle versions are different
    Source
    OS : Solaris 10
    Oracle version : *11.2.0.2*
    Export dump : exp_CAAU2.dmp.gz (Export taken by zipping)
    Target
    OS : Windows server 2003
    Oracle Version : *10.2.0.2.0*
    While importing into windows env, it is failing..
    Please let me know the reason why the import is failing?
    Can i upgrade the target oracle version to 11.2.0.2 to succeed the import?

    Hi,
    The IMP indicates this this error is coming from the old imp. This dump file could be from the expdp utility, which would require you to use the impdp utility.
    Source
    OS : Solaris 10
    Oracle version : 11.2.0.2
    Export dump : exp_CAAU2.dmp.gz (Export taken by zipping)
    Target
    OS : Windows server 2003
    Oracle Version : 10.2.0.2.0
    While importing into windows env, it is failing..
    What really matters here is the compatibility level. If your source and target compatibility levels are the same, then with Data Pump, the dumpfile created on the source, would work on the target. If the compatibility levels are different, then use expdp with the version parameter set to the compatibility level of the target.
    Please let me know the reason why the import is failing?Check the suggestions above first.
    Can i upgrade the target oracle version to 11.2.0.2 to succeed the import?It could help, but first check to see if you are using the right utility and then check the compatibility versions.

  • IMP-00010: not a valid export file (downward from 10.2.0.1 to 8.1.7.0)

    Hi,
    We have requirement to transfer User's all tables from 10.2.0.1 database to 8.1.7.0 database
    I have successfully exported user along with all tables and its data from the 10.2.0.1 database,
    now when i am doing import into 8.1.7.0, i am getting the following error :
    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
    when i searched the internet, in the one blog it mentions as below :
    Oracle's exp/imp utilities are not downward compatible.
    you must use 9.02.1 exp to extract from instance 9.02.03 and then you are able to imp into 9.02.1
    so as per above, i will have to use 8.1.7.0 exp to extract from instance 10.2.0.1 database.
    So, how it can be done ?????
    where i have done mistake ???
    With Regards

    It seem you quoted me out of context. I was trying to point out that why read some blog entry of the 'net when the basic rules are clearly documented.
    fbortel wrote:
    Well in that very same piece of documentation it becomes clear you cannot export 10G, and import into 8i.Which section says this?
    The table (if that's it) gives a few exampes: "Table 19-7 shows some examples "
    I'm pretty sure that anything after Oracle8 should work. As long as you are using the right version of 'exp'.
    But there is a Metalink Note that goes into more detail. (and should be more correct than my memory allows me)

  • IMP-00010 when importing a database

    Hello,
    i've exported a database using
    expdp system/password DIRECTORY=data_pump_dir DUMPFILE=full_export.dmp FULL=ybecause i formatted then the HDD and i wanted to import later the exported database. i used Oracle 10gR2, and now i installed the same 10gR2 (not an earlier version)
    when i tried to import the .DMP file, i got
    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
    first i typed in command prompt imp . Then i entered the username and password (first i created the user which has exported the database, previously). and then i entered the path of the EXPDAT.DMP file, including the file.
    Is it necessary to import using Oracle CLIENT 10g? now when importing i don't have a client installed, i work just on my local machine
    Regards,

    Yes, it's the same .dmp.

  • Exp / imp 64 bit - 32 bit

    Hi,
    We have problems to import a dmp file (what exported on a 64 bit OS) on a 32 bit OS:
    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
    Can someone help me with a link, what is the steps / parameters of exp tool to we can import the result dmp file on 32 / 64 bit OS?
    Regards,
    Imre

    Hello,
    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    what is the steps / parameters of exp tool to we can import the result dmp file on 32 / 64 bit OS?There's no specific step or parameter, Export/Import or Datapump can be used across different platforms in 32 bit or 64 bit.
    The error message is more related about a corrupted "dump".
    So be sure that you export and import with the same Utility. For instance, don't export with Datapump and import with the classical Import utility.
    If you send the Dump by FTP, check that you are in binary mode.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • Trying to imp an exp dump from different OS

    Im having trouble importing export dump provided to me. Source is Oracle 10G on AIX 64-bit and destination is to Oracle 10G on Redhat Enterprise Linux also 64-bit.
    WHen i try to import it i always get this error:
    Connected to: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
    Is the to and from not allowed due to difference in operating system? Does the Endian play a factor or only applies on transportable tablespace?
    THanks.

    How did you copied the file from source to destination server ?
    -- font-end tool that does the exp and zip it.
    What is the command you have used to perform the import ?
    -- predefined script that does the import using imp command. i tried to imp manually and got the same error
    Is the database version of source and target is different ?
    -- not exactly sure on the last few numbers. im sure its 10G on AIX 64bit and tried it to import to 10G Redhat 64bit and 11G Fedora 32bit.
    do you think it is something related to different type of filesystems? Like AIX to Redhat unable to read it properly?
    So it has nothing to do with Endians? right...

  • Exp-Imp XE-SE 9.2

    Hi,
    I have exported a user from XE database. After that I have create the user in the 9.2. DB and tried to make an import. But I get:
    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
    After that I installed the XE on another machine and I have create the same user in a same way as on 9.2. and the import succedded.
    Should I perhaps do the export from Xe with the 9.2 exp utility or simply this two version cannot go together?
    Thanks and regards,Peter

    When transporting an export across databases of different versions, you should use the export utility from the lower of the two versions to create the export.

  • ORA-01435: user does not exist when using imp utility

    I installed Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 successfully on WINDOWS 2000 and created a database TEST using DBCA. Then I used a script to creat a tablespace and a user in TEST databse. I could use the imp utility to import the data (a dmp file) to the TEST database without any problem. But after I applied a patch to bring up the version to Oracle 8.1.7.4.1, I got the following error when I tried to use the imp utility again to import the data (a dmp file) to the TEST database.
    IMP-00003: ORACLE error 1435 encountered
    ORA-01435: user does not exist
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
    I checked that I created the same user test (as it is in dmp file I wanted to import) on TEST, and I could login to TEST using:
    sqlplus test/test@TEST
    The command I used is:
    imp system/password@TEST file=test.dmp full=y log=importTEST.TEST.tmp
    I also tried to use the following command:
    imp system/password@TEST file=test.dmp fromuser=test touser=test log=importTEST.TEST.tmp
    and got the same error as before.
    Anyone has any clues what could go wrong? The only difference for me to import the data on TEST is that the
    previous successful import was done in Oracle 8.1.7.0.0.
    Is it possible that I missed something during the applying of the patch 8.1.7.4.1?
    Thanks, and your help is greatly appreciated.
    Jane

    Ther is a set of instruction to be followed after installing the patch set 8.1.7.4.1 after running it thru OUI.They are as follows. Please complete these steps and u should not have problems any more.
    When applying this patchset on Windows NT and Windows 2000, you must log onto the system as a user with Administrative privileges (e.g., as a user which is a member of the local Administrators group).
    1.Disabling system triggers.
    Before performing the next step, you must first set SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED = FALSE in the initialization parameter file. To do this add the following line to your init<sid>.ora file and restart the database (see Note 149948.1 in Metalink for more information on this issue).
    systemtrig_enabled=false
    2.Invoke SQL*Plus (sqlplus), connect as internal and run the following:
    select * from duc$ where PACK='JIS$INTERCEPTOR$' ;
    If no rows were returned go to the next step. If a row was returned delete it using the following:
    delete from duc$ where PACK='JIS$INTERCEPTOR$' ;
    commit;
    3.Invoke SQL*Plus (sqlplus), connect as internal and run the following SQL scripts with event 10520 set. NOTE: This event is not intended for regular database operation and when turned on below by the 'ALTER SESSION' command will automatically be turned off by the subsequent 'CONNECT' command.
    ALTER SESSION SET EVENTS '10520 TRACE NAME CONTEXT FOREVER, LEVEL 10';
    ?/rdbms/admin/catalog.sql
    ?/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql
    ?/rdbms/admin/catrep.sql (This only needs to be run if you are using symmetric/advanced replication. This is not necessary for sites using dblinks and read-only snapshots if symmetric/advanced replication is not installed)
    CONNECT / AS SYSDBA;
    update obj$ set status=5 where type#=29 and owner#!=0;
    commit;
    4.You can ignore this step if you have already executed it as part of a previous 8.1.7 patch set install.
    If Java has previously been loaded into the database, invoke SQL*Plus (sqlplus), connect as internal and run the following SQL DDL command(* Note:If Java has not previously been loaded into the database, skip this step).:
    SQL> create or replace java system
    2 /
    (Note that the / (slash) is important to ensure the execution of the command).
    To ensure the correct installation of the XDK in the database run the following 2 scripts (Bug 2115227):
    $ORACLE_HOME/oracore/admin/initxml.sql
    $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catxsu.sql
    * To determine whether Java has previously been loaded into the database:
    invoke SQL*Plus (sqlplus), connect as internal and run the following:
    SQL> select count(*) from all_objects where object_type like 'JAVA%';
    Java is installed if you get a non zero result returned from the query.
    5.You can ignore this step if you have already executed it as part of a previous 8.1.7 patch set install:
    If Java has previously been loaded into the database, invoke SQL*Plus (sqlplus), connect as internal and run the following scripts which are located in $ORACLE_HOME/javavm/install ( Note: If Java has not previously been loaded into the database, you can skip this step):
    load_jis.sql
    jisja.sql
    initjsp.sql
    jspja.sql
    Notes:
    When running the $ORACLE_HOME/javavm/install/jisja.sql script the following error may be reported and can be ignored:
    call jis_exit_java_session(0)
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-29515: exit called from Java code with status 0
    Bug 1459233 was filed against this problem which is fixed in 9i.
    6.If you deleted a row from duc$ in step 8 then reinsert it again. Invoke SQL*Plus (sqlplus), connect as internal and run the following SQL:
    insert into duc$ (OWNER, PACK, PROC, FIELD1, OPERATION#, SEQ) values ('SYS', 'JIS$INTERCEPTOR$', 'USER_DROPPED', 0, 1, 1);
    commit;
    7.Enabling system triggers.
    You must either remove SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED from the initialization parameter file or explicitly set it to TRUE before attempting any other patch set post-install steps. Restart the database.
    8.This step is optional - it will recompile all invalid PL/SQL packages now rather than when accessed for the first time - you can also use utlrcmp.sql to parallelize this. Invoke SQL*Plus (sqlplus), connect as internal and run the following SQL script:
    ?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql
    9.Execute the following steps only if you have installed Oracle interMedia Text in the database you are attempting to modify:
    If you have not previously unlocked the ctxsys account and supplied a password for that account, you need to do so. (If you have needed to use Oracle Text in any way prior to applying the patchset, you will have already performed this step, and you can skip this.) Do so by issuing the following statement:
    ALTER USER ctxsys IDENTIFIED BY <passwd> ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
    If you have already installed 8.1.7.2 or 8.1.7.3, go directly to step 7 below.
    If you have already installed 8.1.7.1, go directly to step 5 below.
    CONNECT ctxsys/<passwd>;
    @?/ctx/admin/upgrade/u0801071.sql
    CONNECT ctxsys/<passwd>;
    @?/ctx/admin/upgrade/u0801072.sql
    CONNECT / AS SYSDBA;
    @?/ctx/admin/upgrade/s0801074.sql
    CONNECT ctxsys/<passwd>
    @?/ctx/admin/dr0pkh.sql
    @?/ctx/admin/dr0plb.sql
    @?/ctx/admin/dr0type.plb
    @?/ctx/admin/dr0typec.plb
    9.You can ignore this step if you have already executed it as part of a previous 8.1.7 patch set install:
    The installation of this patch set fixes a potential security hole in the XSQL Servlet - see here for more detail. The patchset installation does not, however, modify any of the Oracle HTTP Server configuration files to reflect changes to the XSQL Servlet installation. If you have previously installed the Oracle HTTP Server, you will need to update one of the configuration files manually after the patchset installation is complete. If you do not do so, the XSQL Servlet may not work in the context of the Oracle HTTP Server after the patchset is installed. To update your Oracle HTTP Server configuration, perform the following steps:
    1) Edit the file: $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Jserv/conf/jserv.properties
    2) Search for the string: "XSQLConfig.xml File location"
    3) Modify the parameter wrapper.classpath on the line immediately following the above string to read: $ORACLE_HOME/oracore/admin
    4) Save the file.
    10.You can ignore this step if you have already executed it as part of a previous 8.1.7 patch set install:
    The installation of this patch set fixes a potential security hole in the PL/SQL XML parser - see here for more detail. To load the new XML parser in to the database, run the following script as user SYS:
    ? /xdk/plsql/parser/bin/load.sql
    11.If you are using the RMAN catalog then upgrade it as follows:
    rman catalog <user/passwd@alias>
    upgrade catalog;
    upgrade catalog;
    The post install actions are now complete and the database is now ready for use.

    IMP-0032 is your real error.
    The BUFFER size specified for the import is too small. Oracle is unable to interpret the contents of the dump file and what is actually data (content) is seen as if it is an SQL command.
    You should import with a larger BUFFER size. Set it to a few tens of MBs so that even data (i.e. multiple rows) is buffered properly.

  • IMP-00069 error in Oracle 8i

    Hi all,
    I received a dump from my client . WHen I try to import the dmp file. I am getting the following error.
    "import done in US7ASCII character set and US7ASCII NCHAR character set
    IMP-00069: Could not convert to environment national character set's handle
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully"
    My client is using Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows 2000 Server. But I am using the database "Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.6.1.0" on Redhat Linux 7.2.
    Pls Help me to solve this error.
    With Advanced Thanks
    Kannan

    Work around for IMP-00069
    1.     The export file transferred from another system? Please ensure it was handled as a binary file if ftp'd. This error (and others) can be signaled if the file was not transferred properly.
    2.     Version Compatibility issue ie oracle 8.1.7, 8.1.6 or 8.1.5
    3.     Export the data with the Export utility of the lowest database version ( 8.1.5 or 8.1.6) so that it can be imported in any higher version
    4.     Rule of Thumb
    a. Oracle supports any lower version exported file to import in any higher version but vice versa in not possible
    b. Oracle doesn’t Support higher version to lower version – this may be your problem
    Fix
    1.     Try to connect the Oracle Version (target Version where you what to import) by using the same version of the export utility( ie your are using the export utility of same version where you want to import )
    Example :
    Wish to export data from 8.1.7 and import into 8.1.6 ---- hope this is your requirement
    Use the 8.1.6 export utility to export the data from oracle 8.1.7 and import the file into 8.1.6
    Hope this clarifies your issue,
    Regards
