Imp-00038 could not convert environment character set's handle

Hi People,
Am I did export a table and am now trying to import the same file that was exported onto a different schema but am getting an IMP-00038 error.
Could you be knowing what the problem is and how to go round it.
Thank you kindly,
Michael.

This is because the two schemas are using different character sets.
We have just had the same problem. It should be a case of changing the offending character set which I beleive is is set in the init ora file. If we sort it, I will post the solution for the next guy who gets this.

Hi sivaram,
how exactly did you export from 11g, and how did you try to import? (Commands with parameters would be great, probably also the first lines of each log file)
And which exact database release did you export from? Which character set does it use?

Hi James,
IMP-69 can occur if you try to use an EARLIER version of IMPORT against an export (.dmp) file produced by a LATER version of EXPORT.
How about trying this:
Use the 8.1.5 EXPORT utility from Win2K to connect to your Solaris 8.1.7 database; then use the 8.1.5 IMPORT utility to import the file into the 8.1.5 W2K database.

• Approach to converting database character set from Western European to Unicode

Hi All,
EBS:12.2.4 upgraded
O/S: Red Hat Linux
I am looking for the below information. If anyone could help provide would be great!
INFORMATION NEEDED: Approach to converting database character set from Western European to Unicode for source systems with large data exceptions
DETAIL: We are looking to convert Oracle EBS database character set from Western European to Unicode to support Kanji characters. Our scan results show
both “lossy (110K approx.)” and “truncation (26K approx.)” exceptions in the database which needs to be fixed before the database is converted to Unicode.
Oracle Support has suggested to fix all open and closed transactions in the source Production instance using forms and scripts.
We’re looking for information/creative approaches who have performed similar exercises without having to manipulate data in the source instance.
Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for yourn time!
Regards,

There are two aspects here:
1. Why do you have such large number of lossy characters? Is this data coming from some very old eBS release, i.e. from before the times of the Java applet interface to Oracle Forms? Have you analyzed the nature of this lossy data?
2. There is no easy way around truncation issues as you cannot modify eBS metadata (make columns wider). You must shorten or remove the data manually through the documented eBS interfaces. eBS does not support direct manipulation of data in the database due to complex consistency rules enforced by the application itself (e.g. forms).
Thanks,
Sergiusz

• Problem : "You cannot convert the character set"..Any suggestions?

Hi All,
I have this character inside my internal table, KOÇTAŞ YAPI MARK.TİC A.Ş. and it created a short dump on the program and it says "You cannot convert the character set". But this customer is already maintained inside the table KNA1..
The code is like this one:
REPLACE ALL OCCURRENCES OF '€' IN linebuffer WITH 'EUR'.
TRANSFER linebuffer TO filename. "LENGTH bytes_to_transfer.
the LINEBUFFER here is an internal table.
I think conversion is the key here. Do anyone knows how to convert this thing? Or is it the Unicode system? Could someone please help me to my problem?
Thanks so much guys!
Regards,
Mackoy

Hi,
What i feel here is you are trying to pass totla internal table at once.Internal table may have more than one record.Filename may string which can contain one row.
So instead of that put the internal table into LOOP.
DATA : v_string(200).
LOOP AT LINEBUFFER.
Here your internal table may have non char data type. That is the
main problem.
Note : while concatenating all non char fields of LINEBUFFER
should move to first to temporary char field and conatenate it
CONCATENATE LINEBUFFER-field1 LINEBUFFER-field2
INTO v_string.
ENDLOOP.

• After Effects error: could not convert Unicode characters. (23::46) CS6

Hello I just created a project in AE CC and wanted to save also a version for CS6.
All went ok but when I tried to open the project in CS6 I received the following error:
"After Effects error: could not convert Unicode characters. (23::46)"
Does anyone know what that means and how to fix it?

After Effects CC is much, much better at handling characters that are outside of the character set used by the OS at its current language settings. So, file names and paths (and other strings) that work fine in After Effects CC and later may fail with earlier versions.
For example, if you are running your OS and applications in English and have Chinese characters in your file names, After Effects CS6 and earlier will fail, but After Effects CC and earlier will succeed.

• ApEx BIP report using webservice: could not convert null to bean field

Seems like a pretty straightforward problem but I don't manage to find a solution.
I have a BI Suite implementation on one server.
And a database with ApEx on another server.
I want to call a BIP report from within my ApEx application using the webservices (runReport) available in BIP 11g.
I used soapUI to test my webservice. Result : OK
When called from within ApEx, ApEx gives me a succes message but the report isn't generated. Instead the console on the BIP server shows the following error:
<Sep 12, 2012 10:28:37 PM BST> <Error> <org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanPropert
yTarget> <BEA-000000> <Could not convert null to bean field 'sizeOfDataChunkDown
load', type int>
'sizeOfDataChunkDownload' is a field of the webservice that is left empty.
That indeed is the only difference between my soapUI test and the ApEx situation.
In soapUI I removed all empty fields. In ApEx this does not seem possible...
Some extra information:
- the webservice is created on this WSDL : /xmlpserver/services/v2/ReportService?wsdl
- it's defined as a SOAP v2
- no basic authentication
- the reports are defined in the BIP environment; not in ApEx

Note: When ever It encounters the bold character string it fails ... Any help !!!
And one more thing when i create another record with same data by copy and pasting it works fine and when i did a dump on that column data its different. see the below result of dump.

if you observe the above 2 rows the fist row shows length as 12 and second shows as 11. actually 2nd rows works fine but first gives error. I am not able to see where that hidden character is and not able to remove that character.

Hi,
I have a similar problem:

ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
LPX-00200: could not convert from encoding UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1I'm executing the following Select when encountering this error:

FROM resource_view
WHERE resource_view.any_path LIKE '%PATH_TO_FILE%';I have 5 XML-documents and this error occurs at two ('A' and 'B') of them. When I transfer the same 5 documents from another PC the error occurs at document 'C' and not at 'A' and 'B'.
Any clue or hint which could explain this behaviour? What NLS parameters can I check in order to help you understand the situation?

The process works on port 25 with no STARTTLS, but unfortunately our company server uses port 587 and STARTTLS.

Small correction to what SSprengel wrote...
The RX100M3 is supported only by version 8.5. It sounds like you need a newer version.

• Windows setup could not process the Catalog setting

Hi, I'm trying to deploy an image of Windows 8 Embedded using WDS (Windows Server 2012) and I find this message in client machine. It appears while boot image is loading...
I'm using an *.xml file to make an unattended installation, that I select from Client tab on my WDS server.
If I don't use any file installation is performed correctly.
Full message is "Windows setup could not process the <Catalog> setting in the unattend answer file.
See setup log files under [X:\Windows\panther] for details."
However, when I check this folder in Windows Server there isn't any updated log file...
My unattend.xml file contains:

Well, the setuperr.log contains (Check next image link, I can't add it using hyperlink or image):

I have tried to add a Catalog component, but I don't know that I should write in "sourceLocation".
