Impact of appending datasource in existing infoproviders in bw

Hi all,
I want to append COPA datasource with additional fields for a new cube in BW but we already have an existing COPA cube in BW and we do not want any changes to this existing cube so, my questions are-
Do i have to be aware of anything before I append copa datasource?
Will appending datasouce have any impact on existing copa cube in bw?
If we do this for logistic datasources, does it impact on existing cubes on bw?

Hi,
Enhancing data source doesn't impact on your cube.
Once you done the enhancement to your data source and will add related info object to cube.
What about the historic data for added field?
if you don't historic data for added field then no issues, you can continue your loads with existing cube.
if you need historic data then you need drop whole data and reload.
One more thing, COPA data source enhancement, need to done FI/CO team.
Mean like LO Data sources, you can't append a field to data source.
FI/CO team need to add required field to operating concern and later we need to regenerate same copa data source.
Mean we need delete the copa data source and recreate with same name.
Above suggestions are belongs COPA(custom data source) data sources only.

copy list items and files cross site.
You can do this with codeless SharePoint Designer workflows as long as you can install the
Codeplex Custom SharePoint Designer Workflow Activities.

To install the custom activities, please follow the steps as below:
Download the solution file form
Useful Sharepoint Designer Custom Workflow Activities
Copy the wps file to the Disk C.
Open the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell.

Open the Center Administration, click System Setting->Manage Farm Solution-> dp.sharepoint.workflow.wsp->Deploy to one or more Web Application.

Can Acrobat Standard append to an existing file when saving? Can Pro?

Hello all,
I'm wondering if Adobe Acrobat Standard has the function to save to an existing file. I don't mean append two PDF's together after they are already created. I mean I already have a PDF document which I need to add lots of additional pages to. So when creating additional PDF's, I want to be able to tell Acrobat to add those files to the end of the document I already have.
PrimoPDF has this feature which would be a real time-saver in my line of business. In that program, you simply choose the same filename when asked to save the document. It then prompts you to overwrite or append-to the existing file. For business reasons, it would be very advantageous to use Acrobat rather than Primo. Does anyone know if Acrobat Standard can do this? If not, does Pro do it? Thanks for your time. I appreciate any feedback I get.

SharePoint 2010 List - Append Changes to Existing Text - multiline text fields being duplicated

SharePoint 2010 - I have this same problem for all Lists that use the combination of 1) Multi-line text column; 2) Column is set to "Append Changes to existing text"; 3) Text choice = Plain Text or Rich Text or Enhanced Rich Text. 4) List item is modified
in datasheet view
Each time a list item is modified in datasheet view, if the multi-line text column is left blank it will have it's previous value duplicated. For example - If I'm updating a list item in Datasheet View and updating a column other than this column
I described above, each time I make an update to the list item the previous value/comment left by someone else in that column will be duplicated with my name attached along with the date.
Why is SharePoint duplicating the contents of this field??

In my testing I noticed that a list item that is modified in standard view (not datasheet view) will not duplicate the value of the Comments field if left empty. Once the item has been modified in standard view I can make changes to that list item in datasheet
view and the Comments field won't be duplicated...
Any ideas?

I think I have identified exactly when/how this happens. It was happening to us, I found this post, and then I did further testing based on your note that it only happens when using datasheet. Thanks so much for that lead!
In my example below, "status note" is the column where we use MLT w/ append comments. Here's what I found in my testing:
If I used datasheet to edit an item, and the LAST edit made to that item did not include a status note, then no duplicate status note was created when I made my edit.
IF, however, the last edit made to the item DID include a status note, my edit (no matter WHAT I was changing, no matter if the view included the status note column or not) created a duplicate of the previous status note.
Try it out and see if that works the same for you. You can even tell easily if you show the column in the datasheet view. If, when you go to make your edit you see content in that column, you know your edit will include a duplicate of that MLT content. If
you see it is blank (meaning that last time someone made an edit they did not change that MLT column), your edit should be fine and create no duplicate.
PS- editing in the editform creates no problem whatsoever. The problem definitely seems specific to the way Datasheet handles edits.

Why to create append datasources ( type 'APPE') ?

could me someone clarify why it is useful to create append type datasources 'APPE' with rsa2. I can enhance the extractor with the stucture enhancement and using a BADI to fill up the new fields if necessary.
So why are the append type datasources useful?

Hi,
APPE is used to create datasource field enhancements for Industry-specific solutions (or country etc). Here, the switch framework is used.
The 'append' you create for the extraction structure and the append datasource will be in a package. This package will be switched on or off depending on the need.
So, if they are off - none of your enhancement fields will be seen in your extraction structure. Else, they will be available.

Impact of the Datasource structure got changed?

I am working on CRM as sourcesystem.I have created datasource with Function module.Data has been loading to the cube since one month.The problem is in the structure Tittle1(40) and Tittle(40) length has taken.But it should have to take Tittle1(60).So I need to change the Structure of the function module.
I would like to know what are the impacts will happen if changed the existing structure at CRM system.What are the steps to be taken to make these changes?What would be the impacts at BW side.

Hi Praveena,
               Firstly there wont be any impact on your BW side assuming that the infoobject you were mapping in B/W can be mapped readily(assuming that you need not change the infooject properties) to the field (the field for which length is changed in the structure).
               On the source system side, once you make your structure changes and activate, you need to make adjustments in function module and in cmod code(if any cmod code exists).
              Apart from the above, there wont be any more impact on other objects. Anyway you want to change the length of a field in your structure, so there wont be much of changes even in FM.
            But you need to replicate your Datasource in BW once your FM is activated after your structure changes

Impact of changing/enhance an existing master data object

I have a new requirement to enhance 0comp_code in order to add 2 extra fields in the master data.
As 0comp_code is an infoobject used in lots of cubes, I would like to know which is the impact of changing it.
Which actions should I take into account before doing any changes.

Hi,
If you are adding any new fields to infoobject, you will not have any impact to existing info providers which uses that infoobject.
If the attr u add is a navigational attr and if you want ur info provider to have it, then you will have to enable it and activate the info provider and the update rule as well.
is your data source modified to bring in those new fields? or is it going to be manually maintained?

1) Created a report with Crystal Reports 2011
2) It queries a table in a SQL 2008 database
3) The internal select statement is

Setting the report table connections caused the report to fill with data.
At this point I seemed unable to reset the datasource.
Also the set data source needed further clearification.
The simplified following code works:

Append datasource seen in bw, not visible in rsa3

Hi experts,
This is very weird. I appended a datasource based on view from table KNBK (Customer Master Data - Bank details). I had to append a field as per the new requirements, knbk- xezer (indicator). I wrote the code in user exit to do so, replicated datasource, saw the new field in infosource as well, uploaded data to master data. The new field was empty.
When I check the datasource in R/3 side with rsa3, the appended field is not getting displayed. I wonder why.
This is the code I used:

Whenever you append a datasource, those fields will not be shown in RSA3 by default. You have to add those fields to the display options by going to SYSTEM -> LAYOUT -> CURRENT.
As for the new field not being displayed in the master data table, try activating the master data.

Is there a way to append a report to another existing one. I mean, I have already saved and closed a report as a HTML and I want open and add more data and figures to it. I'm using LavVIEW 8.0.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Mike,
I could not find a VI that would open an existing HTML report. Without an "Open Report" VI, you cannot get a reference to your pre-existing HTML report. I recommend opening both html files as text files, concatenating those strings and then replacing the pre-existing HTML file with the combined string. I tested it with just adding some line breaks at it seemed to work fine. Let us know how it works for you.

Datasource of existing form

Hi,
My company is using a application that includes pdf Forms. They are run from an Active Server Page button object. I can trace the button backto a script (basically a query) and the pdf forms link to the fieldnames in the query. So far so good.
I can add my form, a pdf, to the list and the blank pdf opens from the application. Also good.
What I can't figure out is how to link my fields in my pdf form to the existing datasource so that my forms open with data in them. I may not have the terminology right. I open my form in LiveDesigner Forms, add a field and enter the fieldname. I know that I'm missing a piece though because if I open an existing form provided by the application, the "fields" tab is populated (presumably filled by the datasource.)
I'm hoping that this makes enough sense that someone can help me! I'm new to Acrobat, so feel free to patronize me!

Hi Lin,
If there is any transaction with reference to that newly created purchasing documents, then it will affect. Any transaction during the time of change will not affect as long u dont save that agreement. But if u saved the agreement after changes then the change comes in to effect immediately after that.
If you have docs which refer to other agreements for that particular material, then your transactions will not get affected.
