Implementing a News Scenario

I need to implement this scenary in Portal:
Post news, and that on the "home page" (KM iViews with NewsBrowser layout set);  is only the most recent news item published.
And in any part of the iView, which included a link to "see news history" and then gain access to a repository where they are stored.
What is the simplest way to do this?.

As far as I understand your question, you are interested in a "physical" archiving of the news, which means you would like your current news in folder1 and archived news in folder2.
One way to do that is to write a repository service that performs this archiving for you - its not standard SAP portal functionality.
Another option is to write a web dynpro iview that displays your different news channels and let you select from a number of criteria how (many) news items you would like to archive (and perhaps where you would like them to be archived).
The final option as I see it is to set the collection renderer to only display the last 4 news items on page 1, and then let the end user use the pager to get to news item 5-8, 9-12, etc etc. But if you chose this scenario you need to bear in mind that SAP recommends a maximum of 1000 files in each folder, but even with a smaller number the iview will have rather high response times because of the permissions check.

    Hi,
    Hope so you know all the setting regarding credit memo customizing.
    Otherwise use the standard one.
    Regarding authorization go to PFCG and create a new role.
    In that you can maintain the authorization regarding the minimum credit limit.
    Please check out this setting.

    So I guess you want each "chat" line to be a separate task in the process, and this task keeps on looping until, say, a button "complete" is pushed by one of the task executors.
    I would create a custom callable object for this (WebDynpro component implementing GP CO interface). It would be something like this:
    WebDynpro UI showing the previous chat lines, and an input area for a new line.
    Two buttons, one for submitting a chat line, one for completing the chat. For these two buttons, two result states will be defined.
    The chat lines are stored using an entity service "Chat".
    In the process layer you can use a postcondition loop block, in which you add a parallel dynamic block for your chatting users, and in that block you add your custom CO. The loop will start over with "chat" result state, and finish with "Complete".

    I can give you some pointers regarding this. Although, I implemented protocol below IP.
    - Look for information on ipsecah and ipsecesp. These are pseudo devices on top of IP for Solaris 8.0.
    - Check how the protocol stack is built while booting.
    - If you intend to implement a module, rather than a driver then things might be little easy. You can push your module on top of IP. See man for "sad" and "autopush" mechanism
    - Sample drivers and modules from SUN are of great
    help. I came to know about the sample drivers very late.
    Otherwise, I would have saved some time.
    - Unix System V network programming by Rago is a very good reference.

    Holiday Calendar
    Transaction Code: SCAL
    Holiday calendar comprises of list of paid holidays to be given to employees on festivals by the company.
    Personnel Area/SubArea Groupings
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules --> Personnel SubArea Groupings
    Maintain perosnnel area/Subarea groupings for work schedule.
    i.e. Suppose in Mumbai you have WS = GEN ( 10 to 6) and in Chennai you have WS = NORM ( 8 to 4 )
    Work Schedule
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules -->Daily Work Schedules
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules -->Period Work Schedules
    Daily Work Schedule is actually your office timings with breaks (paid /unpaid) i.e. Planned Working Time which is then included
    in Period Work Schedule to make a week ( M T W T F S S )
    Daily Work Schedule (i.e. Day) -
    > Period Work Schedule (i.e. Week)
    Work Schedule Rules
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules -->Work Schedule Rules and Work Schedules
    After doing above mentioned configurations,maintain employee group/subgroup groupings in which you have to define which calendar is applicable for which type of employees for which work schedule.
    You will maintain this work schedule in infotype 0007 - Planned Working Time of employee via transaction code - PA30

    By creating a simple Flash / Flex component (in which it's fairly simple to create scrolling marquees etc) you can embed it in a FlashIsland UI component
    Or maybe simpler, you could use an IWDIFrame component, in which you simply link to a HTML file showing your rolling news
    Bottom line is, by default the rolling news functionality is not possible but with a workaround and some extra effort you could get what you want

However, only SAP standard BW objects are mentioned in the paper e.g. InfoCube (0IC_C03), Material Stock InfoSource (2LIS_03_BX), Material movements IS (2LIS_03_BF) and Revaluations IS (0LIS_03_UM).
    On the contrary, I need to handle custom DataSources for the Snapshot scenario. Are there any differences in the implementation methodology? Which additional aspects should I take into consideration? For example, the load sequence, delta type, etc.
    Could you please list out the step-by-step procedures for such an implementation?

    Hi Meng,
    You can approach this in two ways.
    1) If the volume of data is not much, you can derive the balance at query level, as follows.
    User enters the date, based on this restrict your key figure to display all values less than this date.
    2) If the volume of data is high, then you will have issues with performance if you are calculating the balance in the front end. In this case, you can model this with 'Non cumulative' key figure.  Again there are 2 ways of approaching this back end solution based on the volume of data. ( Say in one case you have 2 years of history in your DSO and in the second case, you have  5 years of history ).
    A) For example, If there are only 2 years of history
    Create a non cumulative Key figure 'ZBALANCE' with inflow and outflow, in a cube.
    Map this to your credit and debit as + and - respectively and map the calender day to posting date.
    Just initialise the dataload with data transfer and start loading the delta as normal.
    You will be able to see the balances for each and every calday in your reporting.
    This approach is straight forward and simple.
    Compress the cube for getting the better performance.
    B) If there are 5 years of history and you are not interested in loading all the 5 years data in getting the balance
    Here you want to have the initial balance, continue delta and would like to load 2 years of history.
    The cube and non cumulative KF are created as mentioned above.
    For generating initial balance, you have to create another DSO without calander day and ZBalance mapped to credits and debits in additive mode. Load your DSO data into this new DSO to generate initial balance. This balance will be loaded to your cube as initial balance. ( Like 2LIS_03_BX ).
    You have to compress this request with marker update ( Must ).
    Load your historical data for 2 years from the original DSO. Compress without marker update ( Must ).
    initialise without data transfer from DSO to cube and load deltas normally.
    Compress the delta requests normally for performance reasons.
    Please read the 'Inventory document' in detail.

  • New Scenario assigned to 0L ledger. How to populate values in FAGLFLEXT...

    Hello all,
    We went live with SAP about 3 weeks ago, however cost center update scenario was not assigned to the ledger 0L due to some oversight. I have made this assignment just recently so all new postings to cost centers will update FAGLFLEXT with the cost center. However there are about 25000 line items that didnt update FAGLFLEXT with the cost center. What is the best way to handle this? It is not possible for me to reverse out and reenter the lines due to the volume. Any suggestions will be really appreciated.

    There is two ways doing it.
    Either untick the company productive tag in company global settings and reassign the scenarios and redo the same action.
    Or just assign the scenario and see the adjustment done

       I have a Sync-Sync scenario (SOAP - RFC) where both sender as well as receiver are synchronous.
       I have created outbound sender sync interface, abstract sender sync interface, Receiver abstract sync interface and Receiver inbound sync interface.
      In BPM I have started with Receive step.
      But in receive step I can give either Async Abstract interface or Open Sync-Async bridge. I am confused!
      How to implement my scenario in BPM?
      It will be really great if somebody can send me the step by step info or doc.

  • How to implement FTP transmission scenario

    Hi everybody!
    Sorry, this is a rather long post, but I think the scenario is pretty complicated...
    I have to implement an exchange of flat file data using the FTP protocol. I do not think this is possible using the standard FTP adapter, since there are some difficulties in the procedure:
    First of all, the communication partner is a host-based system that only "simulates" an FTP server. The actual transmission steps are:
    1) Connect to the host using username / password
    2) Send a host-specific command using the 'site' command, i. e. something like (in MS-DOS like ftp syntax): 'quote site xyz=123'
    3) Send a special ticket-file which contains additional instructions to the host-system
    4) Send or receive an FTP file using the conventional 'PUT' or 'GET' commands.
    As far as I can tell, this has to be done using ordinary ABAP programming - no problem there. But how can I bridge the gap between my ABAP program and XI messaging?
    Should I create an ABAP job, read the data and somehow post it into the XI queue (how?) (inbound direction only)?. Should I start a workflow and pass the data to it (how?)?
    Should I create a business workflow and start an ABAP program within this process (how?), starting this workflow via job scheduling?
    I must admit I'm at a loss here. Any suggestions from you?

    Thank you for your suggestions. I have considered this for a while and there still are some open questions...
    First, I have to elaborate a bit on the specific scenario: There is an external host system, which is only accessible using FTP. The "standard" FTP adapter of XI is useless, since there are several non-standard steps involved which are not supported in the standard.
    The XI system will be the only system "allowed" to communicate with the host - due to network and firewall restrictions.
    The data from the host system will have to be processed by a backend SAP system. This R/3 system (release 6.20) will only have a connection to the XI system. There is a RFC FM for this purpose.
    So if I follow your suggestions, I would have to do the following:
    1) Import the RFC FM from the R/3 backend into XI
    2) Generate a suitable interface spec. for this RFC along with mapping objects, etc.
    3) Create an ABAP server proxy for this RFC
    4) Create an ABAP client proxy for this server proxy
    5) Create a report that will download the data from the host system and "post" ist to the XI message queue using the client proxy from step 4)
    Sounds a bit strange -  is this really a useful implementation?

    Madhulatha,
      First of all refresh the SLD Cache. If it doesnt work for you then,
    1. Re import the RFC structure into your XI box.
    or,
    2. Copy your comm channel with same credentials (assuming they are correct) and activate. Remove the old Cc from Sender agreement and use the new one.
    Sometimes this method has helped us.
