Implementing Search Using MessageChoice - Help

Hello all,
I'm trying to implement a search operation for a Master-Detail Page.
For which I've 2 MessageChoice's and a MessageTextInput.
1) The first MessageChoice (Parent) represents the Table or View.
2) The second MessageChoice (Child) represent the field or Attribute name of a particular table or view.
3) The MessageTextInput would be for the user to enter the value for the search.
Consider that my Master Detail is based on the Departments-Employees Scenario.
Now for the MessageChoices I've created a Parent-child relationship based on this Post.
Re: Parent-Child using <messageChoice> to <table>
POSTS -> 464
My Problem is that after following the steps mentioned in this link I don't have a "NAME" property in the Property Inspector for the messageChoice. It is only based on this "NAME" property that I can perform the search operation by writing an appropriate method in the application module Class. For an ordinary MessageChoice there is a property called "NAME" but in this case when i drag an drop an attribute as a messageChoice it's not there. If I try to manually include it... the whole parent-child relationship fails to work.
I would like to know whether there is any other way of identifying the MessageChoice's or is there any other way of implementing the search. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Arun.V

[EasyFind|http://www.devon-technologies.com/products/freeware/index.html] can do this, though it's a lot slower than Spotlight.
You can probably do it in Spotlight as well, but I think you need a "Raw Query" search, which is pretty clumsy. I believe that the Spotlight/Finder "friendly" interface implicitly uses all three of these search modifier options listed in Apple's [Spotlight Query Programming Guide|http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Carbon/Conceptual/S potlightQuery/Concepts/QueryFormat.html]:
!http://i51.tinypic.com/2vngp37.jpg!
The standard search options don't provide for changing this, but a Raw Query search which uses just dw as the modifiers instead of cdw should be case-sensitive. To set this up you could start with a Finder window, type command-F, set the search scope at the top to "Contents, set Kind to "Other" and choose Raw Query, then enter the following in the text entry box:
kMDItemTextContent == "THIS TEXT AS IT APPEARS HERE"dw
I've tried this in Snow Leopard and it seems to work - I don't have a Leopard system to test it on. You could substitute any string of your choice between the quotes, and can include wildcards by using the * character. Having to enter "kMDItemTextContent == " is clumsy, though, and EasyFind might be a better choice.

  • Help !!! - Search using english base alphabet for French diacritic/accent

    Hello -
    I am searching using wild card in Oracle 9i database, as follows -
    select * from test
    where Upper(name) like 'A%'.
    It returns all the names upper and lower beginning with 'A'.
    We do have french data and few of the names begin with Á,Ä and à.
    In order to fetch all of the rows based on the base letter ,ignoring diacritic in the above same query,
    I have tried couple of settings as follows before executing the query -
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT='FRENCH';
    Or
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP=ANSI;
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=GENERIC_BASELETTER;
    It didnot work. After reading the documentation, I have tried the query, for equality (=) search with some test data and seems to be working...
    So my guess is these settings are only useful if you have same exact name(data) for french as well english. Wildcard search '%' 'like' cases donot work.
    It would be really great if someone knows work-around for the query I have mentioned -
    select * from test
    where Upper(name) like 'A%'.
    to do get all the rows based on generic base letter ignoring those accents/diacritic.
    Or is there any other way we can implement this.
    I need to implement the generic solution for all english alphabets search in our application.
    ANY HELP would be REALLY APPRECIATED....
    Thank you so much....
    Rama...

    Hi Rama,
    For all current versions of the Oracle database, NLS_COMP=ANSI affects the following SQL operators only:
    WHERE =,WHERE >,WHERE <, START WITH, IN/OUT, BETWEEN, CASE WHEN, HAVING, ORDER BY.
    All other operators, such as LIKE, perform comparisons in binary mode only. They do not honor the NLS_SORT value. I hope that explains why you are seeing the behaviour that you described.
    This will be enhanced in 10gR2, where all SQL functions and operators will be able to honor the NLS_SORT value.
    You may be able to use the workaround below, if all your LIKE operations place the '%' at the end.
    e.g.
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=GENERIC_BASELETTER;
    SELECT * FROM test
    WHERE NLSSORT (name,1,1) = NLSSORT('A');
    name
    Älex
    andrew
    Ace
    àlan
    Good luck!

  • Searching using a combination of MessageChoice & TextInput in ADF UIX  Page

    Hello,
    I'm trying to create a page in ADF UIX which implements search operation using a combination of "Message Choice" & "Text Input". I refered to the OTN How to's Document for "Building a list of Values (LOV) with ADF UIX". It's been mentioned in the document to create an LovInput component & when you do that an UIX page LovWindow0.uix is created by default along with two handler's "LovFilter" and "LovSelect".
    when I try to implement this concept in the simple UIX page with out creating a LOV Input field.... i.e; I tried to implement this concept by just using the List of values component.... I'm not able to associate a handler to the go button present in the default list of files component.
    Consider the scenario where I'm using the Departments View.. In the list I'm displaying the filter Choice & in the Text Input specifying the where condition...
    Can anyone please help me out on this...I'm new to this concept...
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Sam,
    i think this link should have part of ur solution.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/shmeltzer/setwhereclause/uix.html
    There you need to make slight modifications to the codes so as to suite ur scenario of search(having a message choice to choose filter and a textinput for the search value)
    The new method that you add by reading the page can be modified.
    Origional method mentioned is
    public void setCondition (String p_cond)
    ViewObject empvo = findViewObject("EmployeesView1");
         //Creating a Where clause for the query
    String whereclause = "LAST_NAME like '%"+ p_cond +"%'";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    empvo.executeQuery();
    replace this with the new method
    public void setCondition (String p_filter,String p_value)
    ViewObject empvo = findViewObject("EmployeesView1");
         //Creating a Where clause for the query
    String whereclause = p_filter+" = "+p_value ;
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    empvo.executeQuery();
    But if u have a filter which is suppposed to be charechter field den the code should be
    public final void setMoreConditions(String p_field, String p_value)
    ViewObject empvo = findViewObject("EmployeesView1");
    if (p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("last_name")||p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("first_name"))
    String whereclause = p_field+" LIKE '%"+p_value+"%'";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    else
    if (p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("manager_id")||p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("department_id") )
    String whereclause = p_field+" = '"+p_value+"'";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    else
    String whereclause = "";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    empvo.executeQuery();
    In the above code include all the charechter field names in the first if condition.
    I think that should solve ur purpose.
    Try it and let me know if ur having any problems.

    Vineet

    Is the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead?  (The original source of your data)  If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
    You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
    You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it.  It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.
    Ciao.

    You could use an Oracle Text context index with a wordlist to speed up substring searches and return all rows that match any of your criteria, combined with a case statement to provide a ranking that can be ordered by within an inner query, then use rownum to limit the rows in an outer query.  You could also use the first_rows(n) hint to speed up the return of limited rows.  Please see the demonstration below.  If you decide to use Oracle Text, you may want to ask further questions in the Oracle Text sub-forum on this forum or space or whatever they call it now.

    Thanks

    Hi sekhar,
    Your Requirement can be implemented by OVS(Object Value selector) This is the custom search help .So that you can define on what basis the value has to be fetched.
    Look at the below link
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/ABAPWDObjectValueSelector(OVS)
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/606288d6-04c6-2c10-b5ae-a240304c88ea?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
    You need to use the component WDR_OVS.
    It has 3 phases
    In phase 1
         You will fetch the value from input field to F4 help dialog box.
    In phase 2
         You will generate the search results , in this phase look for the input value given in field 2 and accordingly generate search result for the field 3.
    In phase 3
         The selected value will be returned to the original screen.

  • How to build custom search using API - 10.1.2

    Hi,
    I have been looking through some documentation and i can't seem to find how to use the API in portal 10.1.2 to create a custom search. Any help or samples would be appreicated.
    Thanks

    The Search API is a new feature in 10.1.4. In older version a custom search portlet was provided, no API.
    <br><br>
    You can build a search engine yourself in Portal 10.1.2 by using the Oracle Text API. The search engine should implement security however which can be quit difficult to accomplish. It is not impossible however.
    <br><br>
    In most cases it is has less impact to upgrade to release 10.1.4 then to build a search engine yourself. My advice would be to install 10.1.4 on a test system and play around with the new search API. You can then decide whether it is worthwhile to upgrade to 10.1.4 where you profit from several nice new features.

  • How to implement this? please help

    In my java class, I have a string array called strarray which hold serveral elements, some of the elements have the same value , for example, the first element is "swimming", the forth element is also swimming. I use a for loop to get each element and give it to arrayHolder which is also a array with the same size as strarray. Now, what I want is: I defined a Vector called element I want this vector to filter out the element from arrayHolder, get the name of non-duplicated name from the arrayHolder, the result should be inside the element vector (swimming,walking,running,dancing), no duplicated name. My code is like follows:
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class arrayTest{
    public static void main(String arg[]){
    String[] strarray={"swimming","running","walking","swimming","dancing","running"};
    String[] arrayHolder=new String[strarray.size];
    Vector element=new Vector();
    for(int i=0;i<strarray.length();i++){
    arrayHolder[  i  ]=strarray[  i  ];
    /* What should I do next to get the non-duplicated element from arrayHolder and

    Not sure if I see the use of strArray & arrayHolder (I've not looked at your code - you might use code tags next time (check the "code" button above the message textarea), but may I suggest using a Map of some sort instead of a Vector? It will prevent duplicates for you.

  • Service Ticket: Search using Inbox & My Worklist in IC WebClient

    Dear Gurus,
    When I create a Service Ticket in the IC WebClient in CRM 5.0 and save it, the system generates a Transaction Number which I can then search for by using Interaction History, Inbox and My Worklist.
    When I search using Interaction History, I select the relevant Service Ticket and the system takes me to an Interaction Record, and from there I can navigate to the correct Service Ticket.
    When I search using Inbox, the system takes me to a Service Order, which I do not believe is correct.
    When I search using My Worklist, the system also takes me to a Service Order, which I do not believe is correct.
    Any recommendations?
    Rgs,
    Alan

    Hi
    You can search service ticket from inbox ideally by entering the object ID in the agent inbox or you can also search for service tickets in interaction record which is an activity transaction type if you maintain the copy control for service ticket from interaction record then you can search for service ticket through the interaction record as well.
    refer to best practice link for the service ticket custimiseing settings for icwebelient
