Import error IMP-00058

Hi,
I am importing a dump file into oracle 9.2.0.4 using import utility. I fired this import utility in nohup mode. It imported 5 tables and then took about 6-8 hours to import the biggest table and failed with the following error messages:
IMP-00058: ORACLE error 1013 encountered
ORA-01013: user requested cancel of current operation
IMP-00018: partial import of previous table completed: 336426 rows imported
It actually continued to import other tables and finished with warnings.
Can you please help me out with this issue? I cannot see any other error message. I checked the metalink and could not find any solution. All messages points to modifying sqlnet.ora file, but I am not using it anyway!!.
Thanks,
kapil

Solution Description:
====================
Bug 430972 is fixed in SQL*Net version 2.3.4. Please contact Oracle Support
Services to see if there is a patch available for your platform.
To workaround this problem turn off Dead Connection Detection (DCD) by
removing the SQL*Net parameter sqlnet.expire_time from your "sqlnet.ora" file.
Solution Explanation:
====================
Either applying the patch or disabling DCD will allow the export to run
successfully.

  • Import error IMP-00017 and ORA-01950 no privileges on tablespace

    Hi,
I am trying to do a full import into a 10.2.0.4 database from a 9.2.0.6 export dumpfile. The tablespaces have already been pre-created. I got this error on one tablespace, and I can't figure out why because I was using SYS to do import, how come SYS doesn`t have this privilege. All objects in other tablespaces were created without this problem.
    - IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1950:
         "CREATE TABLE "FYAERLG" ...
    - ORA-01950: no privileges on tablespace 'INFOTABLES'
    Please help.
    Thanks
    -lixidon

Who is the owner of "FYAERLG" ?
Try granting the owner of the table, quota on INFOTABLES tablespace.

    Hello,
You may experience a bug or a corruption in the "dump". If it's a corruption you may retry your export/import.
But, anyway, the classical Export/Import is not recommended. Starting with 10.1 you should use Datapump
    (expdp/impdp).
Please, find enclosed a link about this utility:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/part_dp.htm#i436481
    Hope this help.

Try connecting to the database as mdsys.
Look for a table called sdo_geom_metadata_table, and if it is there see if there
is anything in it. If there isn't anything in it, or it isn't there, try executing:
prvtgmd.plb from ORACLE_HOME/md/admin. It looks like the
views might not have been created correctly.

    1. I do have the database i am importing on my
    laptop...
    2. how would i specified the mode within the batch
script?imp is a client-side tool, so you need to specify how to connect to the (database) server. Either set ORACLE_SID or use a connect string.
Modes and how to specify import parameters can be found in the docs.
Specifying fromuser=name and full=N may look somewhat confusing, but syntax allows it. However if you "activate" both modes
    $ imp system file=per.dmp fromuser=hej full=y
    you'll end up with
IMP-00024: Only one mode (TABLES, FROMUSER, or FULL) can be specified

  • Import Error in 9.0.2.3

I'm trying to do a full import in 9.0.2.3 but about five minutes into the import i get the following error:
    IMP-00003: ORACLE error 3113 encountered
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    IMP-00003: ORACLE error 3114 encountered
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
I'm running the import on the db server itself with the import file residing on the server as well. What could be causing this?

what is the command using for imp. for doing imp, userid/password has to be entered.. did you try to connect sqlplus by using same id/password and does it connect to sqlplus.
Also check oracle_sid to make sure you are in the same instance where you have userid and password..
these are my guess to begin with.. problem could be somewhere else too..

  • Database Import Error in Oracle 8i

    Hi Friends,
I am using oracle 8i with Windows 2000 Pro SP4. I have a database dump file and i need to import the same using oracle 8i. I am getting the following errors.
    imp system/manager file=sap30.dmp buffer=60000
the database was exported by SAP not by you.
    imp unsuccessfully terminated
Finaly the error message says that export was done using 8.01.07 but iam using oracle 8i (8.1.5). Pl help me to import the database.
    Thanks in advance
    Mahendiran.A

dump file created in 11g database can't be imported in lower 8i version.
Restrictions When Using Different Releases of Export and Import
The following restrictions apply when you are using different releases of Export and Import:
Export dump files can be read only by the Import utility because they are stored in a special binary format.
Any export dump file can be imported into a later release of the Oracle database.
The Import utility cannot read export dump files created by the Export utility of a later maintenance release. For example, a release 9.2 export dump file cannot be imported by a release 9.0.1 Import utility.
Whenever a lower version of the Export utility runs with a later release of the Oracle database, categories of database objects that did not exist in the earlier release are excluded from the export.
Export files generated by Oracle9i Export, either direct path or conventional path, are incompatible with earlier releases of Import and can be imported only with Oracle9i Import. When backward compatibility is an issue, use the earlier release or version of the Export utility against the Oracle9i database.

    how to solve this?

the DirectoryId issue is outside of COBRAS power to do anything about - if there's no directory Id being put into the database by the SQLSyncSvr process than any tool that uses it (DiRT, GSM, COBRAS, BulkDelete etc...) cannot act on the user - that means they are not propelry/fully created in AD.  so you will need to solve that problem seperately (almost always a permissions/configuration issue in Unity - the tools have no bearing on this and never, ever connect directly to AD for any operation - it's all done through Unity services).  Always start by looking in the SQLSyncSvrxxx log found in the commserver logs folder - SQLSyncSvr never logs errors in the event log so far as I know.
The other errors there look like time/date format issues - I'm guessing based on the text of the output that the locale is causing issues - if you want to send the backup MDB file to me (no messages, just the directory backup MDB file) I can run some tests in house - I'll need to know details about what you're restoring to (version and locales installed) and I can test it in debug mode in the lab here to see if I can run that down at any rate.
you can ping me off line at lindborg at cisco dot com.

  • Upgrading Repository - import error

I've got Oracle Repository 4.0.12.100.2, and I'm upgrading to the latest release. The upgrade utility in RAU is trying to run IMP and stopping on an import error. The error flashes by so fast I can't see what the problem might be. and it doesn't seem to be logging the output from IMP. Is there any way that I can make it use the LOGFILE parameter, or at least do a pause before closing the window?
Or if you have an idea what is wrong - that works for me too.

Never mind - with some information from Oracle Support I found the log of the failed import. Then with the error message, I found out that I was using the import for Oracle 10gR2, but the database on which the repository is installed is 10gR1. So I needed the import for 10gR1 - which I didn't have and you can't download it anymore. Some scrounging around the office finally turned up an installation disk. I installed 10gR1 client - reconfigured RAU to use it - and the upgrade worked.
Guess I'll need to upgrade the database to 10gR2 some day in the near future.
