Import from Multi-dimensional Database-Essbase Error 1030724

Hi all
OBIEE version is 10.1.3.4.1
Essbase version is 11.1.1.3
I am trying to create a repository and selecting Import-> From Multidimensional
and on the connection screen, i am entering essbase connection information(essbase and obiee are running on the same server) but giving me
Essbase Error 1030724- Failed to set locale information
But could not solve this issue!!
Any ideas!
Best Regards,
Kenan

Hello Kenan,
We had the same problem, but after adding the system variables the problem was solved.
Make sure the ARBORPATH and ESSBASEPATH variables are available as System Variables.
(Right click om my computer and goto Environment Variables).
Kind regards,
Peter

• Using Multi Dimensional Database

Hi All,
I have a query. Below is the example scenario. Please correct me if am wrong.
There is a requirement of a report which contains Two fields from Essbase, and One field from HFM(Hyperion Financial Management). Our HFM runs on Oracle.
I can import HFM related tables to my RPD using Import->from Database.
Now, Can we import tables directly from Essbase using Import->from Multi-Dimensional option in Admin tool?
For my report to be generated, what are all the things that I should have in common between these two data sources? what are the steps I need to follow here?
Thanks in advance,
Imtiaz.

hi Imitaz,
If u use combine with similar request as vinodh said common columns.data type will be fine
I need to have a dimension, which is common in both the sourcesNot sure,refer the nicos post as he did ( i didn't tried on locally) but different subject areas using union req works fine in my case
Thanks,

• Populating ADF Table from Multi-Dimensional Array

Hello!
I'm trying to populate an ADF table from a multi-dimensional array.
Let's say that my array is
String [] [] myArr = new String [3][5].
On my page backing bean, I have a private attribute called tmpArr like this...
String [] [] tmpArr;
...which I will initialize later after I know the proper dimensions. The dimensions will come from a multimap that contains a key and and another array (for the key's value) containing values for the key. So once I know the dimensions I initialize my array with...
tmpArr = new String [x][y] where x and y are the dimensions (counters).
Now I have my multidimension array. On an jsp page I have an ADF table, and I'm setting the value for the table to the array (the table's value property is bound to the backing bean's tmpArr attribure).
Like so:
<af:panelForm id="availableOptions"
binding="#{myBackingBean.availableOptionsValues}">
<af:table emptyText="No items were found" rows="10"
value="#{myBackingBean.tmpArr}" var='myArr'>
Now I need to know how to do the following:
1) Set the table's columns based on the number of attributes on the array.
2) Set the table's rows based on the array's length.
3) Set each table cell value to values on the array's 2nd dimension. I'm assuming that ADF takes care iterating through the array, and that I should do something like...
<af:outputText value="#{myArr[][0]}"/>
<af:outputText value="#{myArr[][1]}"/>
etc...
However, this isn't working...
javax.faces.el.ReferenceSyntaxException: myArr[][0]
...bla bla bla...
Was expecting one of:
<INTEGER_LITERAL> ...
<FLOATING_POINT_LITERAL> ...
<STRING_LITERAL> ...
"true" ...
"false" ...
"null" ...
"not" ...
"empty" ...
<IDENTIFIER> ...
Is there a blog or resource (article, book, etc) that shows how this is done? Anyone has done this and would like to share how?
Thank you.

This is in fact possible. I'm not sure about the "best practice" around doing this but there is a couple of ways to do this.
You can either create a managed bean then right click on it and use the wizard to create a data control or you can do it as per below
The a table will convert an array into a collection.
Once you have created an array and generated the accessors in a bean you can then reference the mutli-dimensional array from a table as per below.
<af:table value="#{pageFlowScope.PageBean.sessionArr}" var="row" rowBandingInterval="0" id="t1" varStatus="status">
<af:column sortable="false" headerText="col1" id="c1">
<af:outputText value="#{pageFlowScope.PageBean.sessionArr[status.index][0]}" id="ot1"/>
</af:column>
</af:table>
String [][] sessionArr = new String[5][2];
public void setSessionArr(String[][] sessionArr) {
this.sessionArr = sessionArr;
public String[][] getSessionArr() {
sessionArr[0][0]="rice";
sessionArr[1][0]="water";
return sessionArr;
EDIT: For either of the above methods the managed bean must have a scope of pageFlow or longer.
Cheers,
Aaron

• 4.0 EA3 import from designer and database leads to differences in compare models

Hello,
I followed two ways to import a model in Data Modeler:
1 - an import from Oracle Designer
2 - an import from the database generated on basis from Oracle Designer
Then I compare the two models in Data Modeler, and found differences ...
One of the differences is in Table check constraints. The text is the same when viewing it in the compare model.
So I opened the corresponding XML files for the tables and compared the XML for the constraint text. And there are differences:
example:
<rule>(file_locatie is not null and file_naam_org is not null) or<br/>(file_locatie is null and file_naam_org is null)</rule>
<rule>(file_locatie is not null and file_naam_org is not null) or<br>(file_locatie is null and file_naam_org is null)</rule> <<-- designer
the design imported from designer contains br, the databse imported version contains br/
This should not be considered during comparision, or better: boths imports should use the same way of formatting.
Joop

The Rule specification is not re-formatted in Data Modeler code; it is stored as extracted from the database.
For Oracle Database, the Rule is extracted using SQL of the form SELECT search_condition FROM dba_constraints/all_constraints WHERE constraint_type = 'C';
For Oracle Designer, the Rule is extracted using SQL like SELECT txt_text FROM rm_text_lines WHERE txt_type = 'CDWHCL';
Are you able to tell how your Table Check Constraint is represented (with respect to the 'br') in your Database and Designer?

Tony

The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" has not been registered.
You have to install the ACE Provider first, it's non of the OS integrated Provider. You can download it here:
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable
Olaf Helper
[ Blog] [ Xing] [ MVP]
I had it installed, restarted the machine an used the following code, but getting the same error message
SELECT *
FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0',
'Excel 14.0 Xml;HDR=YES;Database=C:\testData.xls',
'SELECT * FROM [Emoployees$]');
shouldnt it be Excel 12.0 ?

• Importing from an Oracle database converted from non-unicode to unicode - SSIS 2012

Hi,
I've some SSIS 2012 pkgs that read from a non-unicode Oracle database to a non-unicode SQL Server database.
Few days later, the Oracle database will be converted to unicode one and so I need to update the SQL database and the SSIS pkgs. Obiously no data conversion transformations are present in the pkgs. I'd like to avoid to add more of these data conversions.
As a first step, I'm trying to convert a SQL table to unicode format, but it isn't possible to convert non-unicode and unicode string data types.
I did not expect to have an error about the conversion from to non-unicode Oracle database (not yet converted) to unicode SQL Server database: a such conversion doesn't lost any information content. For me, it is right to have an error by from unicode to
non-unicode conversion.
Any suggests to solve this issue with a minimum development effort? Many thanks

Nope once you change datatypes to unicode you've to refresh metadata settings within SSIS packages for it to work fine. SSIS doesnt have the ability to do metadata changes at runtime. So someone has to update package metadata information to make them unicode
to make sure it works correctly after the changes.
What you can do is create test dbs in oracle and sql in uncode and create some modified packages based on it. Once you make changes to production dbs you need to move these modified copies also to production after making necessary config value changes like
servername,dbname,folder paths etc and then they will continue to work normally without causing any further downtimes to the customer.

i've also tried importing them singly, and still does not give me an error.
are there any other programs i can use to download music to my ipod, any settings i can fiddle with that i dont know of?
thank you for any replies

Alas - its my own stupidity. there was a problem with the copy and all my songs are 1kb.
Argh. sorry to waste your time.

• Importing from a Derby Database to Oracle

Hello,
Is there a tool that can help keep a Derby database and an Oracle instance in synch? We have a Derby database with many tables that we want to regularly migrate to our Oracle instances.
Thank you for any information.
Regards, Tony

Hi!
On a more constructive note here are a couple of thoughts:
1. Create a CSV file use either a query tool (derby provides a very simple one) or having the developers write an extract in java. Then use SQLLDR to load the data.
2. Have the developers write a java program that connects using JDBC to both the derby and oracle databases, then do what ever synching your data requires.
You may have to create a user or role for them to be able to do this.
An interesting thought is to use java in the Oracle DB and writing a java stored procedure and similiar to above make a jdbc connection to derby to extract the data that you need.
Hopefully you have gotten this solved before now. Let us know what your solution was!

• Essbase error 1030725

Hi.
From Obi Admintools -> File -> Import -> From multi-dimensional and select Essbase and I put the data to connect I have this error:
Essbase Error 1030725
My environment have this:
ESSBASE Server: 11.1.1.2 in Solaris 10 SPARC
OBIEE: 10.1.3.4 in Solaris 10 SPARC
Any help?
Thanks.

The essbase error refers to an API error and I suspect that your problem is caused by version conflict. Do you have an Essbase client installed on the OBIEE server that is different than the Essbase 11.1.1.2 version installed on the server? Also, confirm that OBIEE 10.1.3.4 supports Essbase 11.1.1.2.

• Erro While connecting OBIEE with Essbase : Essbase Error 1030019

Hi Experts,
I am trying to connect to Essbase using OBIEE.
I am getting error when i try to Import from Multi-Dimensional .
It get a poppup as "Essbase Error 1030019".
Could you please suggest how to overcome.
Cheers,
Andy

Hi All,
I am loggin in OBIEE as an administrator.
if there is version mismatch in client and server.by this do you mean that version of Essbase in OBIEE is not matching with the version of Essbase from where we are fetching the data.
Please let me know if this is the case and what will be its remedies.
Cheers,
Andy
