Import model from OWB repository

We have an OWB repository with several 100 tables, mappings, etc. what we try to import but SQL Modeler seems to import nothing although it gives no errors.
We've found that before importing all the OWB environment variables must be set.
Which we did.
Then it seems to connect to the repository, do some processing and returns but without any changes in the model.
Did anyone import model from OWB successfully?
We are using version 10.2 OWB and database.
Bye,
Gabor

OK ive imported from Designer into OSDM just fine.
Good. Glad this works.
However things I dont like so far ...;)
The properties palete can you make it like owb in that when i open it and change context in the browser it updates? I dont want to have to keep going show properties.
In future releases User Interface will be adresses to be more intuitive and to be more SQL developer alike
Pushing the OK button does not appear to do anything the properties window stays open so how is it different to apply?
Sorry, but we don't understand. Pushing OK should work and should close the property window.
Things I dont like... the number of clicks to see information ( no hotkeys or shortcuts  )
Agree. In future releases User Interface will be adresses to be more intuitive and to be more SQL developer alike
Next Early Adopter will have new dialog for entities and tables
No drag n drop columns from 1 table to another. No right click on browser nodes to create keys etc No CTL drop no SHIFT drop
You can drag columns
an enhancement request will be created
Why cant I reorder columns by moving them in the browser? Then I could move them visually. This also applies to property paletes if I have to go to the effort of highlighting a current row then why cant I just grab it and move it?
You can reorder columns/attributes by the "up" and "down" arrows after you highlighted the column or attribute in their respective property window.
an enhancement request will be created for doing this from the browser and the grabbing
Appears to be no ability to set common properties over a number of attributes. If I select a number of columns I cant pull up a property pallete to set a common attribute on them.
an enhancement request will be created
I could not get the enginer to logical model to enable
Should work. when you have the relational model, use the engineering to logical model icon (2 red arrows) or the design menu option and do engineer to logical model
Otherwise looks promising
Thank you!!

  • Import/Export from OWB-- Discoverer

    Hello,
Can anybody tell me the way to export and import data from OWB 10.1.2 onto Discoverer 10.1.2?
    Thank You,
    Mani.

    Hi Mani,
Typically you'd define a collection in OWB, and then select Project Menu -> Metadata Export -> Bridge.
Choose Oracle Discoverer as To: item and give it a description.
Next you select one or more collections to export and possibly some more transfer parameters and you're good to go.
For more background check chapter "Importing and Exporting with the Metadata Loader (MDL)".
    Good luck, Patrick

  • Problems importing EUL from OWB

    Hi everybody.
    I'm studying Oracle in a University's project.
I've created a multidimensional model using Oracle Warehouse Builder. I've exported the metadata (using bridge) and I've generated an .eex file.
Now I want to import the metadata in Discoverer but I've a problem:
'Failure of import (the Level of End user has not been modified) - There is a corrupt file of import. Has been the following text: ne Object' (This error is translated from spanish).
I think that the problem is related with specification XMI.
The file that I generated from OWB looks like:
    BEGIN End User Layer Export
    EUL_Version 3.1.92.0.7
    EUL_Unique_Id 20030315095138
    EUL_Characterset_WE8MSWIN1252
    Define Object
    Type BUSINESS AREA
    Name AREA CASO 1
    mName AREA CASO 1
mDescription Area de negocios del caso de estudio del almacen de comestibles.
    mId
    EndDefine Object
    Define Object
How can I import from OWB?
    Thanks.

Try to choose "Oracle Discover4" option

  • Import model from Designer looses domains

    Hello,
I have tried to import a model from Oracle Designer into Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler, and found that the domains where not imported. As a consequence all attributes defined by domains (most of ours) are defined by the domain "Unknown" after the import.
How can I import the domains from Oracle Designer?
    Thank you,

  • RFC not imported properly from I Repository

    Hi there,
I am facing following problem while trying to re-import an RFC from the repository. This RFC was changed in SAP (just the order of the fields) but these changes are not reflected in the new RFC imported.
I will try to explain it better:
First of all, i log on the SAP system in order to see the new export and import structures. And they are right there.
Later on, i import the RFC form the IR but the RFC i get does not contain the propper Request and Response structures (the order is not the right one).
I refreshed CPACache but this issue still remains.
Could you please provide some help on this?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
    David

    Hi David,
Try to import it inot a different SCV (to confirm that ur new structure reflects in your SAP). If you ll find ur new structure there then you can delete the older one in your original CSV and can import it again.
Pls reward points if it helps you a bit.

  • Create Model from OWB

    hi,
I have a question about datamodeler features, any hint, answer or pointing me out toward other resources would be appreciated.
Is import / export metadata from / to OWB's design repository currently supported by sqldeveloper datamodeler?
I'm on the latest version 3.0.0.04 the OWB rep is 10.2.0.0.5
    Many thanks in advance,
    David

    Hi,
It is interesting. I am using OWB and SQL Data Modeller. Could you explain, why do you need this option?
Any good practice recomments data modeling before ETL. You can use SQL data Model to build Logical then Physical model as 1st step. After physicalization of data model, you can import the schema/metadata back into OWB module area for ETL. You can apply better organization in this approach.
If you want to change the model/attributes, go back to SQL Data Modeller and effect the change and follow the process. This will help you address your process on single entry point basis.
If you allow changes in multiple areas, the model/data structues will be out of sync. I have seen such situations in multiple projects and the pain caused to user/IT folks.
    Thanks in sharing your thoughs.

  • Importing model

I was able to successfully import model from the existing schema. But it only generated physical schema and not logical model. I want to use this tool for future enhancement for which i need to use logical model, how do i get logical model from export?

Got to the menu Design -> Engineer to logical model. Then you get a dialog to select which tables and realtionships (FKs) to retrofit. This will produce entities and relationships along with unique identifiers, etc. The only thing you really have to do is adding the relationship names.

  • Error While Importing Process Flow in OWB Repository.

    Hi All,
OWB Config Details is as follows:
Oracle 9i Warehouse Builder Client: 9.2.0.2.8
Oracle 9i Warehouse Builder Repository: 9.2.0.2.0
Following Error Message is displayed when i tried to import process flow from one OWB Repositoty to another OWB Repository.

Hello, all the errors you've been given are related to missing objects.
You should re-create/import the location for you process flows before importing the process flows themselves.
Also verify that you have imported the procedures FLSTG.PROC_GET_ETL_DATA_DATE and FL_TRG_FLSTG.PROC_UPDATE_RECO_CTL because you use them in your process flows so you need them: OWB refuses to import a process flows if some objects are missing because it would break some links.
In general process flows should be imported where you have all the other objects in the repository because they are the final step and they reference many other objects.
    Hope this helps - Antonio

  • Move OWB Repository from a srvr running 9.2.0.6 to a srvr running 10.1.0.2

I am attempting to move an existing OWB repository from a DB on a server running 9.2.0.6 to a DB on a server running 10.1.0.2. The Target and source servers are running Windows 2000 Advanced Server. All OWB components are 9.2. Until now all DB components are 9.2.0.6. The target server is running HTML DB using 10G. I am reluctant to have two production database levels on the target server, but I will if I have to.
I want to move the instance. What is the best way to accomplish this? There are several ways and I want to follow the course that will:
    1) Be a straight forward install
    2) Be maintainable
    3) Require the least interaction with multiple clients
    4) Assure that OWB and Workflow will work with the source/target DBs
I realize that this is a complex question and I have not fully described all of the moving parts, but I hope this provides sufficient information to start working towards a solution. If I left any pertinent information out, I would be happy to provide the information to flesh out this issue.
    Thanks in advance, RJZ

    Hi,
If you want to avoid running 2 database level you will need to upgrade your OWB repository to 10 (done via OWB export/import) and all OWB clients also (both of which contravene many of your 4 requirements). We went through this process last year (from 9 to 10 for database and OWB) and found a couple of issues during testing requiring changes. It would be best also to redeploy all OWB code to your target 10 database if you take this option.
There is a lot more I could say, if you have any specific questions or want more info, I'd be happy to help.

  • Importing a package into OWB repository.

    Hi,
there is a package existing in my OWB repository.
    Package ABC
    Procedure PQR(pram1 varchar2,param2 varchar2)
now i have modified this package in my target schema, an extra parameter is added to the procedure PQR.
    Procedure PQR(pram1 varchar2,param2 varchar2,param3 number).
now when I re import this package to my OWB repository module. it shows both versions of the procedures.
    Package ABC
    PQR(pram1 varchar2,param2 varchar2)
    PQR(pram1 varchar2,param2 varchar2,param3 number)
PQR(pram1 varchar2,param2 varchar2) is still vsible in OWB repository though it is replaced with PQR(pram1 varchar2,param2 varchar2,param3 number) in target schema.
Is there any way I can replace the old version of procedure with the new version in OWB repository.
    Regards
    RD_RBS

    Hi
Standard approach to be followed for any object modification
    1. If you have created your package from OWB and deployed it into your DB, always do it that way i.e. Design center -->DB . Do not make any modifications on DB level and import in back to your Design center. OWB manages Ids for all objects on the repository and this will confuse it. That is why you see two versions of the same package . Any modifications should be done on Design center level and then do a replace on the package from control center
    2. If an object (package or procedure) is created on DB directly and is imported into design center, follow the same norm everytime you make any changes to that object. The status of that object will appear as "New" or "Not deployed" on control center but that is fine because OWB has no ID on its repository to maintain this information.
    3. If you need to rename any object already deployed from OWB, always drop it first, then rename it and then deploy it. That way OWB will maintain the name and ID on its end and not get confused.
    4. For your case, you can drop the older version of the package from OWB, delete the one imported from Database into OWB, make the changes on OWB level (adding parameter etc) and then redeploy the same package as replace from control center.
    Hope these tips help

  • Can an MDL export from OWB 9.0.3.37 be imported into OWB10g?

Folks, instead of upgrading our existing development repository, we are planning to install a brand new OWB. Can we import the MDL export from OWB 9.0.3.37 into OWB 10gR1? Are there any gotchas? Any help is appreciated.

I`ve tried these steps, but can`t because of the following error message:

  • How can i import tables from a different schema into the existing relational model... to add these tables in the existing model? plss help

how can i import tables from a different schema into the existing relational model... to add these tables in the existing relational/logical model? plss help
note; I already have the relational/logical model ready from one schema... and I need to add few more tables to this relational/logical model
can I import the same way as I did previously??
but even if I do the same how can I add it in the model?? as the logical model has already been engineered..
    please help ...
    thanks

    Hi,
Before you start, you should probably take a backup copy of your design (the .dmd file and associated folder), in case the update does not work out as you had hoped.
You need to use Import > Data Dictionary again, to start the Data Dictionary Import Wizard.
In step 1 use a suitable database connection that can access the relevant table definitions.
In step 2 select the schema (or schemas) to import.  The "Import to" field in the lower left part of the main panel allows you to select which existing Relational Model to import into (or to specify that a new Relational Model is to be created).
In step 3 select the tables to import.  (Note that if there are an Foreign Key constraints between the new tables and any tables you had previously imported, you should also include the previous tables, otherwise the Foreign Key constraints will not be imported.)
After the import itself has completed, the "Compare Models" dialog is displayed.  This shows the differences between the model being imported and the previous state of the model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Merge button should apply all the additions and changes in the new import.
Having updated your Relational Model, you can then update your Logical Model.  To do this you repeat the "Engineer to Logical Model".  This displays the "Engineer to Logical Model" dialog, which shows the changes which will be applied to the Logical Model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Engineer button should apply all the additions and changes.
I hope this helps you achieve what you want.

  • Importing logical and physical model from Sybase power designer/Erwin

    Hello,
We have several models created in Sybase Power designer, logical and as a well as physical. Is there a way to directly import models into Oracle designer?
    Thank you for your help.
    Syed

    Hi Syed,
ERwin has a facility to export to Designer 2000. Of course you're probably not using Designer 6.0 or earlier so it's of little use.
I have been looking at a couple of tools for importing from ERwin: Reischmann Informatik’s TOOLBUS Interface for Oracle Designer and ALLFusion ERwin; and Meta Integration Technology’s Meta Integration Model Bridge (MIMB). Neither product is free (nor inexpensive) but if you've got a number of models to convert then the tools seem cheap by comparison. Also, none of the products that I've looked at recreate the actual diagrams (not that I expected them to).
I am leaning towards TOOLBUS as it provides more complete migration of Logical and Physical models (especially the linkages between the models) using Oracle Designer’s API rather than a DAT file as provided by MIMB.
    Hope this helps,
