Importing metada of a file(fixed format) in LINUX platform

Hi,
I am trying to import metadata of a fixed format file in linux,i am not able to do that. But i am able to import delimted format one.
I am able to browse the file directory and i can pick the file ,when i click reverse button an error message saying "file couldn't be found" is shown.
Plz help me.

Hi,
Please make sure the below things,
1.Cross check whether the logical schema and context given in the data model is pointed to correct file path in Topology manager.
2.Please make sure that you have selected the correct context ( there is a drop down in the tool bar of the designer) which you gave in the Reverse tab of your data model.
3. Please check the file format are correctly given at the data store level.
Thanks,
Guru.

  • Fixed format data file output

Does anyone know how to generate fixed format text file? I have few fields in the select which are null and hence messes up the file format, as space does not take up same amount of character width than any alphabets.
Basically I want to generate fixed length data file which is scheduled through DBMS_JOBS. I am using UTL_FILE utility.
    Every suggestion are welcome
Thanks in advance for help :)
email your response at [email protected]

    hello,
using spaces as filler is sufficient. a space takes up the same room (one character) as any other letter in the alphabet.
if you look at the output in any word-processing tool or editor, that uses fonts like times, helvetica, arial, etc. those fonts are rendering the space-character smaller. in fact they are rendering each letter different. if you want to see what your output looks like, choose a font like courier.
if you just generate the file and then process it further, you should be OK. don't let you be fooled by what you see in your editor.

  • External table: How to load data from a fixed format UTF8 external file

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to read data from a fixed format UTF8 external file in to a external table. The file has non-ascii characters, and the presence of the non-ascii characters causes the data to be positioned incorrectly in the external table.
The following is the content's of the file:

I found the first row is incorrect. For each non-ascii character, the fields to the right of the non-ascii character are off by 1 character, meaning that the data is moved 1 character to the right.
Then I tried to use the option STRING SIZES ARE IN CHARACTERS instead of STRING SIZES ARE IN BYTES, it doesn't work either.

    Hi,
I changed the BYTE in the create table part to CHAR, it still doesn't work. The result is the same. I think the problem is in ACCESS PARAMETERS.
    Any other suggestion?

  • How do I convert an excel (2008) document to Numbers?  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid"

How can I convert an Excel (2008) document to Numbers.  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid.

That extension identifies the most current Excel file format, a format that can be opened by Numbers '09 (and by Numbers '08).
A check with Numbers '09 shows it capable of opening .xlsx files when right-clicked (and Numbers chose as the application to open, when double-clicked (if Numbers has been set as the default application to open this type of file, or when dragged to the Numbers icon in the dock.
I see two possibilities for Numbers inability to open it and the message you receive:
    1. The file is not actually an Excel file, and the sender has added the .xlsx extension to the filename manually.
    2. The file is an Excel file, but has somehow been corrupted.
Have you tried opening the file with a different application? The open source Office suites, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice and NeoOffice can also open .xlsx files. If they're unable to open this one, that would point toward the file itself being faulty. You can download these applications from their rspective websites, linked in the names above. All request a donation to support future development, but only Neo requires one to have been made recently, and that only for the current release (which won't be necessary to open .xlsx files).

  • How can I unload data to ASCII fixed-format or delimited files,

    Hello,
SQL*Loader loads data from ASCII fixed-format or delimited files. Is there such utility to unload data from Oracle database ?
    Agnieszka

No. The Export utility will dump data out but not into an ascii file.
Do you need the whole database or just some table or result of a query set?
Check out the ULT_FILE package - this will allow you to write some SQL code which will do the job you want.
    Cheers,

  • Importing Excel Files and Formatting Issues

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. When in doubt, post in the forum! Anyway, I am using java via ODBC to connect to an excel file to extract some info from it, using SQL statements. Everything can be extracted without any problems, however, Excel keeps pi$$ing me off by changing the format of the cell data.
Firstly, I highlight every cell in my Excel file and format it as "Text."
Then I extract the cell info by using a ResultSet and getting a String (even for numeric data - ResultSet.getString(...))
What is getting on my nerves is that not only does it not extract numeric values followed by a string, when it does extract numeric values, it is adding a ".0" after the value.
For example, if the cell value is 123, it will return 123.0
If the cell value is 123SHOE, it returns null
Furthemore, when editing the Excel file, after having every cell formatted as "Text," if I enter a number, say, as a zipcode, 123450000, it brings up an error! But the very definition of "Text" states that "Text format cells are treated as text even when a number is in the cell."
The moral of the story is, I want to convert all data in the Excel file to "Text" and when extracting data from the file, I need to be able to extract numbers, numbers followed by characters, and everything else.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks much,
    Josh

Hey Dr. Clap, quick question for ya. I was checking out the Apache POI you recommended. More specifically HSSF. I noticed in the documentation that "String cells cannot conatin numbers and numeric cells cannot contain strings." Unfortunately, this is not going to work well with my app as some of the primary keys (I use the term loosely) are Strings which contain numbers. My main problem is that my app wont recognize the Strings containing numbers, so it returns null, and Excel is chopping off the leading zeroes and is popping up with an error because numbers are in the String. However, as I stated before, Excel notes that text cells can contain numbers!
FYI, I am using Pervasive SQL to extract a given list of users in a DB (which I dont want to connect to directly) and am saving that generated query (list of users) into a text file. I then open the text file in Excel which parses it correctly and assigns the cells the correct values. So I don't think I can format the cells as text because I am importing the file I generate. I love doing things ass backwards :) Another reason I am using Excel files is so anyone can use the software so long as they have an Excel file with the appropriate columns within the file.
Thanks yet again and I'll keep searching.

    Hi,
You can use RPAD to add spaces to the VARCHAR2 columns, like this:
    UTL_FILE.PUT_LINE ( fRPT_FILE
                      , RPAD (CUR.state_code, 2) || ' ,'''  ||
                        CUR.CONTINENTAL_US_FLAG  || ''',"'  ||
                        RPAD (CUR.name, 40)      || '"'
Can the columns be NULL?  If so, you may need
    UTL_FILE.PUT_LINE ( fRPT_FILE
                      , RPAD (NVL (CUR.state_code, ' '), 2) || ' ,'''  ||
                        NVL (CUR.CONTINENTAL_US_FLAG, ' ')  || ''',"'  ||
                        RPAD (NVL (CUR.name, ' '), 40)      || '"'
since   RPAD (str, len)   returns NULL if str is NULL.
Lose those EXCEPTION sections.  All they are doing is making it harder to find and fix errors.

  • How to create the Export Data and Import Data using flat file interface

    Hi,
Request to let me know based on the requirement below on how to export and import data using flat file interface.....
Please provide the steps involved for the same.......
BW/BI - Recovery Process for SNP data.
    For each SNP InfoProvider,
    create:
    1) Export Data:
1.a)  Create an export data source, InfoPackage, comm structure, etc. necessary to create an ASCII fixed length flat file on the XI
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
1.b)  All fields in each InfoProvider should be exported and included in the flat file.
1.c)  A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
1.d)  If the file exists on the target drive it should be overwritten.
1.e)  The exported data file name should include the InfoProvider technical name.
1.f)  Include APO Planning Version, Date of Planning Run, APO Location, Calendar Year/Month, Material and BW Plant as selection criteria.
    2) Import Data:
2.a) Create a flat file source system InfoPackage, comm structure, etc. necessary to import ASCII fixed length flat files from the XI
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
2.b)  All fields for each InfoProvider should be mapped and imported from the flat file.
2.c)  A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
2.d)  The file should be archived in the
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Archive directory.  Each file name should have the date appended in YYYYMMDD format.  Each file should be deleted from the \Out directory after it is archived.
    Thanks in advance.

Here's some info on working with plists:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/PropertyLists/Introduc tion/chapter1_section1.html
They can be edited with any text editor. Xcode provides a graphical editor for them - make sure to use the .plist extension so Xcode will recognize it.

  • Importing images in Word file

Hi, after importing a Word doc into RH7 most images are
correctly displaying in their topics but some just show a
placeholder and filename of a .png image. This means presumably
that png images are not supported by the Word conversion routine. I
have imported .pngs successfully in the past in other projects. Is
there a pre-conversion step I can do in Word to images to make sure
they are treated properly by RH.
    thanks,
    mike

Next time you have trouble importing a legacy Word .doc, try
    this:
In Word, create a new file using the New command and the
    default .dot.
Insert the contents of the legacy .doc from the menu command
    (not by cutting and pasting).
In Word 7, they moved the "insert file" command to Insert
    > Object > Text from File . . .
I'd think "insert text from file" would mean pasting
something that doesn't include graphics. However, Word will bring
in everything from the legacy .doc including formatting and styles.
Save As . . . the new document as .doc or .docx. I don't
think RH 7 cares. In our experience, jpegs and gifs sometimes were
missing until we created the new Word file.
Another wrinkle: In Explorer view, with a folder open, File
    > New allows you to create an empty Word document right there.
We had some trouble using one of these for importing and saving the
    legacy .doc.
Didn't have time to track it down. Was the legacy .doc
created in Word 2003, and the conversion to .docx in 2007 glitched
some images? In your case, it just happened to the .png files? As
you previously speculated, images may have been handled differently
    in creating the original .doc.
My hypothesis here is, whatever the reason for images getting
lost in the import to Word, everything gets fixed -- even for pngs
-- when you start with a clean slate in a new Word document created
from the New menu in Word.

  • ScanCafe jpeg photo file unrecognized format in iPhoto, not Preview

I just received 3 DVDs of 1700 image files from ScanCafe.  Unfortunately, almost every photo file, in JPEG format, fails to import (about 30 of 630 on the first DVD).  Of 25 folders of photos on the first DVD, 2 folders did transfer.  I get a pop up after the files(s) try to import saying "the following files could not be imported.  The file is in an unrecognized format."  It then lists the files if I tried to import a folder or a selection of several within a folder, or the single file if I tried doing one at a time.
The files have long names such as: 00050_p_r13afjqhgrj0119.jpg.  This one didn't import.  This one did though: bn_r13afjqhgrj1653.jpg
Importantly, all photos will open if double clicked in Preview.
I've tried dragging single photos or folders into iPhoto.  I've tried using the import to Library command, selecting both single photos or folders.
Within a folder that didn't tranfer, I found one or two photos that would transfer.
I tried using a different DVD from Scan Cafe from this order on a different Mac with the same software versions (10.9.2, iPhoto 9.5.1), and got the same error.
I tried downloading the photo files directly from ScanCafe, and I get the same unrecognized format error.   These photo files also will open in Preview.
I researched this on the internet and found nothing, then talked to ScanCafe and they didn't know what to do besides send another set of disks (at that point I had not tried downloading the photos directly from them, and this obviously won't fix the problem).
So, the files must not be totally corrupt as Preview opens all of the photos.
Thanks for your consideration and recommendations.
    Justin

Try the following on one or two image files:
1 - download and unzip Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB.zip
2 - drag the selected image files onto the app.
3 - try to import the converted files into iPhoto.

  • IPhoto '09 not importing Camera Raw (.CR2) files

Recently purchased a new Mac Pro and tried to import my Camera Raw files from a supported camera. iPhoto refuses to import (unrecognized file format) files. Does anyone know the solution? I have over 1,700 camera raw (.CR2) files I need to import.

    Larry,
Cameras were Canon 20D and 50D. Until yesterday both were using the sRAW color space - switched them to Adobe RAW today. Problem was the 1,700 pictures with sRAW colorspace taken over the past few years - no issue importing into Adobe Photoshop CS4 (not surprising at it uses its own libraries), problem was only with iPhoto. I had what iPhoto reported as the latest update to Camera Raw, however when I browsed the Apple support pages I found v3.0 which I installed. That fixed the problem as it now has sRAW support for Canon cameras.
Only issue that remains is importing of DNG formatted pictures. iPhoto will not import those, which is hard to understand as it is becoming the defacto cross platform format for RAW files.
I don't recall having this issue on my older MacBook using an older version of iPhoto and older libraries...
Anyway, good news is that v3.0 fixed the problem.
    Thanks.

  • Can't Open Numbers file, wrong format

Hello I have Numbers version 3.2
I have a friend who has created 3 numbers spreadsheets.  I can not open them on my mac.
On my Mac with mavericks , I get error can't open file. I checked console and got detailed message "8/13/14 8:04:54.759 PM Numbers[284]: *** Assertion failure #2: -[TSAImportController prepareForImportDisplayingProgress:] TSAImportController.m:292 Could not create importer for document at /Users/bill/Desktop/2014 Conference Spreadsheet.numbers."
    8/13/14 8:57:17.690 PM Numbers[284]: *** Assertion failure #3: -[TSAImportController prepareForImportDisplayingProgress:] TSAImportController.m:292 Could not create importer for document at /Users/bill/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail Downloads/A527BF91-859C-4348-881E-9F90D8F5EFBC/2013 990.numbers.
What does this indicate, they can take the same file and make it an Xcel and I can open.
I tried to move the file over to the cloud and open , and I get error 'invalid file format"  what is going on here ?

Update #3 .. I tried to install an old version of numbers.  Interesting enough files still error, but they error with the error reported on iCloud.  "could not open file, wrong format" console : 8/14/14 8:23:49.220 PM Numbers[425]: Error opening document in -[SFAppApplicationDelegate(Private) doCoordinatedReadWorkForURL:]. Can you restore that JSON backup in a new profile?
Did you make sure that it is really a JSON backup and that there is no missing or hidden other file extension?
A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded"
    A HTML backup starts with: <!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1>
You can try if you can restore that JSON backup in a new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Please for administration of this support site, make possibility to quote someone's answer, on this way is dificult to answer somebody who wrote some suggestion!
No, i can't restore JSON backup in new profile, even on fresh installed OS XP SP3, with fresh installation of latest version of firefox!
MAN I TOLD YOU 10X IT'S 200 % JSON BACKUP FILE!!! I'M NOT IN IT FROM YESTERDAY, I WORK IN IT 12 YEARS!!!
I tried restoring json backup in new profile, but nothing, i couldn't restore, cause that stupid error from screen shot which i posted again appears !
Man i'm not totally noob i repeat 2nd time here, and normally that i know to create new profile, and that i tried that, but that didn't help!
I can't believe that FIREFOX has not good support team, and doesn't care for yours users, this will not give me more reason to use in future firefox
like borwser, if i don't have good support, and when i have problem like this, to loose all my very important bookmarks and passwords on them, and
firefox support won't to help me to solve my problem!
If somebody from firefox support team read this, i can give you Remote desktop access to my computer to try solve this problem, like other serious company
like HP, Dell , etc. give remote desktop support to their users!
Corel are you from firefox support team? Please don't write same suggestions, cause i know to read, and i understand well if you write once some suggestion!

  • How do I import Map Info Tab files into Spatial for a map of europe?

How do I import Map Info Tab files into Spatial for a map of europe via FME and have oracle spatial draw the map without problems?
So far I've got to the stage where I can import the data, spatially index it (in oracle 9i) and get my SVG (scaleable vector graphics) application to view the map.
The problem is that countries that have more than one polygon (more than one row in the database) do not draw properly.
When I view the Map Info tab file in the FME viewer I can see that the data is fine, but I can also see that some of the polygons used to draw a country are donugts and some aren't.
This seems to cause a problem when I import the data into oracle spatial as I don't know if a row in the table needs to be inserted as an independent SDO_GEOMETRY or if it should form part of a larger SDO_GEOMETRY (as in 2 or more rows make up the polygon shape for a country).
I have a feeling that I'm not using FME correctly, because at the moment I have to import the tab file into Oracle then re-insert the data into a spatially formatted table (one with a spatial index) - I get the impression that FME should do that for me but as I'm new to this I don't really know.
    Any Help welcome :|
    Tim

    Tim,
MapInfo has a free utility called EasyLoader that allows you to upload a table directly to Oracle. EasyLoader creates the geometries and spatial index. You can download it free from http://www.mapinfo.com/products/download.cfm?ProductID=1044
