Importing one image rather than all

Hi
We get numerous customers bringing in their digital cameras wanting us to download their photo of their car, truck, house, etc. for a photoad in our paper.
Is there a way to import just one image number rather than all images on the card/camera?

Hi Heather, there sure is!
Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
Under the General button choose
Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options. You can download some or all the images.
To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.

One way I was able to do this, was to make a Smart Album in iPhoto, with the rule of showing just the movie files. This will work, once you know what format the movie files are in.
In iPhoto, select one of your movies, and right click it. Look for the option: "Reveal in Finder" or "Show in Finder" (this depends on the version of iPhoto).
Once you see the file, look for the three letters AFTER the period. Like this:
.mov (QuickTime movie)
.avi (Uncompressed Windows Video)
.mpg (MPEG video)
Back in iPhoto, when you make your Smart Album, set it up like this:
Once you have it set like this, press RETURN (or click "Ok").
What you'll see is all the videos that have that file extension (.mov, .avi, .mpg, etc.) listed. Now the nice thing is this: Every new movie you add to iPhoto will automatically get listed here, regardless of where in iPhoto they live!
Integration with iMovie:
By making this album in iPhoto, when you get to iMovie, you'll be able to see the movies when you select your Videos Smart Album.

You use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) for that job - or upgrade to a later iPhoto.

Importing multiple songs in one process rather than importing one at a time

I just got a MacBook Pro. It runs OSX 10.5.4. I used to have a G4 Tower. Anytime I downloaded purchased music from iTunes or uploaded my CDs, I stored them to a removable drive.
There seems to be a lot of music missing. I don't think I downloaded everything somehow. Is there an EASY way to check to see what hasn't been downloaded and then upload everything that's missing in one move rather than importing each song individually?

You can add stuff to the library by dragging and dropping onto the itunes library window. This can be multiple files or even whole folders of stuff.
But you will stiff have to determine yourself, manually, what is actually missing and not missing.
Or you can add EVERYTHING then go into iTunes and remove duplicates. Still kind of a chore.

The main point is that Aperture is used to make digital negatives as good as they can be (for the uses you define), but it does not ADD date to your digital negatives, nor does it produce NEW combination files. For those tasks you need a Graphics program.

Sure you csn. Don't be afraid to try this kind of stuff for yourself. If things don't work out, just Command-Z your way back to the previous state. In this case it should work just great. Once your multiple selection appears in Pages, click off the selected new objects to de-select them, then select them one at a time for positioning.

Is this a slideshow played directly from an album or Event or one created in the slideshow mode?
If it's the former that's been a problem for a many users. There hasn't been a firm fix found for it as yet.
There is a workaround. Put the photos in the order you want, select them all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text menu option. Put in Slide and check the box to add a sequential number to give you Slide-01, Slide-02, etc.
Now when clicking the play button at the bottom of the Album or Event window the slides will play in the order Slide-01, Slide-02, etc.
The best workaround is to use the iPhoto slideshow mode to crate the slideshow. There's been no reorts of similar problems in that mode.

how can you get a compilation album to show up as one album rather than be split up by song and artist? I've got loads of albums on iTunes that are compliations and they are all mixed up by track/ artist. Even when you click 'show album' it still just shows the album title and then the artist in alphabetical order - so the album is replicated several times

Page set up as an image rather than text: why?

I built my website using iWeb and added several of the same type of page. For some reason, 2 of the 6 pages appear as images rather than text. Seemingly search engines don't pick up the information on them in that case and since these are my two most important pages, I need to fix this. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

What software was that? I didn't recommend any software in this topic. Are you referring to the software I suggested for adding "alt" titles to photos? That shouldn't have anything to do with text boxes getting converted to images. What type of page are you working with, welcome, photo, etc? Have you set iWeb's Texts preferences so that it will display this indicator when a text box is converted to an image:
Make sure the text boxes are not overlapping any other object on the page. Can you provide the URL so we can view the problem first hand?

Instead of sending me just ONE email as per "subscriptions," they are sending me TWO identical copies of the email. So if two people send me one reply each, A and B, I end up getting FOUR replies: AA, and BB. Yikes!
I would like to receive just ONE copy. I tried deselecting all of my subscriptions, thinking that I could start fresh and that the problem would correct itself, but the problem persists.

1. place your image
2. position your text on it, and make sure it is above it in the stack order (Object > Arrange > Bring to front)
3. select both text and image, and hit ctrl + 7 (or Object > Clipping Mask > Make)

Smart Album with Only Favorite Pick of Stack Rather Than All Stack Picts

I am trying to create a smart albums where i would have only my favorite pictures. most of my pictures are in stacks and when i create an album with my favorites, i get every pictures of the stacks rather than the favorites.
do anyone knows a way to single out the favorite picture of the stack and have it in a (smart) album, without all the other pictures part of the same stack attached to it.

Sorry, edited (one sentence was incomplete):
... for each album, you can define an album-specific stack pick which is different from the "overall" stack pic.
Let's say you have a project "client 1" with a stack containing images A, B, C, D. Let's make B the stack pick.
Now you can set up an album (or website, or book, or whatever) "client 1 my choice" and set image D to be the album pick. You can then set up another album "client 1 their choice" and set image C to be that album's album pick.
If you then view the album "client 1 my choice" you'll see image D. If you view the album "client 1 their choice", you'll get to see image C. If you view the project "client 1" in which your stack is residing, you'll see image B.
All this can be achieved without unstacking since the image (and stack) in the album is just a pointer to the original stack which resides in your project "client 1". I find this quite comfortable.

Import one single driver or all CD?

Hi all MDT guru,
simply question. We are using all driver on one place in Out-of-Box driver, because we have only two version of desktop based on intel. But now, we have another brand desktop and I would like use inject direct driver. This is still not a problem, not counting
the bad drivers that must be installed. Here I still do not know how I to recognize.
I would like ask for another question. If you import driver, do you import only single one correct driver or all pack from brand CD or all in one driver cab ?
Looks like stupid question but it's easy to put CD with all driver and import them to right folder. Problem was, that wizard import drivers, that I never need. If I download driver from web it's same problem, one pack for dozens of sound cards, so than I
have in "out of box drivers" hundreds of unwanted drivers.
If you preferring only one correct driver (which I think) to injecting correct driver do you use any tool to find the right one ? Or script to find the correct driver name. How to find and choose the right one ? Or you use the detail after rimport driver
and check PnP ?

Best thing you can do to my opinion is verify the hardware ID of the device that is missing the driver against the
pcidatabase.com this will tell you for almost every device which driver you need, so you can find it and import it into MDT.
The importing drivers step always import's everything under the targetted folder that you have specified. Want to import a single driver? -Then make sure this driver is in a single folder, with no other drivers in that particular folder.
